This is an enhanced port of Genesis Plus, an open-source & portable Sega Mega Drive / Genesis emulator, originally developed by Charles MacDonald, now running on Gamecube and Wii through libogc & devkitpro.
The source code, initially based on Genesis Plus 1.3, has been heavily modified, with respect to initial goals and design, in order to improve accuracy of emulation, implementing new features and adding support for extra peripherals, cartridges & systems hardware.
The result is that Genesis Plus GX provides very accurate emulation of supported systems and 100% compatibility with Genesis / Mega Drive, Sega/Mega CD, Master System, Game Gear & SG-1000 game libraries (including all unlicensed or pirate known dumps), also supporting backwards compatibility modes when available.
Last but not least, it comes with plenty of exciting features and options that have nothing to envy to your most favorite PC emulators and makes this emulator the most faithful experience for any Sega 8/16-bit fans.

The guys over at Lavalit have released a new version of the beats of rage clone for the Dreamcast, Dingoo, PSP, Linux, Windows, GP2x, Nintendo Wii and Wiz.
OpenBOR is a continuation of the Beats Of Rage 2D game [COLOR=blue !important][COLOR=blue !important]engine[/COLOR][/COLOR], which was originally
created by the wonderful folks over at http://www.senileteam.com.
In 2004, Senile Team released Beats of Rage, a free beat-'em-up for DOS inspired
by SEGA's Streets of Rage series and using sprites from SNK Playmore's King of
Fighters series. The game spread only by word of mouth, but it nonetheless
amassed popularity very quickly. Senile Team soon released an edit pack allowing
anyone interested to create a mod for the BOR engine.
In 2005, Kirby2000 asked Senile Team to open the source code to BOR. They
agreed, and OpenBOR was born. Development on the engine was continued by the
community, and still is to this day.
Heres whats new:

November 26th, 2012, 13:45 Posted By: wraggster
There is an old saying: history tends to repeat itself. Using this as a basis, I’m gonna make a very superficial and personally driven analysis of the Wii U system and it’s possible flaws.
To do this, I will go back two generations, to the golden era of consoles, the sixth generation. In this generation we find the Gamecube as Nintendo’s answer to the Ps2, the Dreamcast and the Xbox. The security system found in the Gamecube is very similar to the one found on the Dreamcast: it heavily based on preventing the game medium from being copied. In this case, the Gamecube used a DVD-based format called the GOD (Gamecube Optical Disc). These discs were (and for the most part are still) unreadable by PC DVD-Drives. While I won’t get into details of how the Gamecube security works (I’ll do it another time), but I can tell you, that the Gamecube was, for the most part, the most secured console of it’s generation, it’s scene can be compared to the one we now find in the ps3: late and limited.
The problem is, by the time the Wii was released, the Gamecube was already hacked up and down, both the system itself and the proprietary Disc format it used. This, combined with the fact that the Wii was basically a Gamecube 1.5, made Wii hacking a lot easier. To have a clearer picture, imagine if sony basically made the Vita with the same exact hardware as the psp, only a bit faster, which is what the pspemu is inside of the vita and it’s why it was hacked.
To sum up: the Wii was hacked because it was too similar to the Gamecube, which was already hacked when the Wii came out.
Now, you may be asking what this has to do with the Wii U, nothing! except that this time, Nintendo has done the same thing! the Wii U uses a similar hardware than the one found on the Wii: a PowerPC CPU and an ATI GPU (it’s called AMD now btw).
You might not know this, but the Wii mode inside the Wii U is already hacked, pretty much like the pspemu inside the vita. The difference here, like I said, is that the Wii U is very similar to the Wii and the Gamecube, while the Vita hardware is different from the Psp, which could mean breaking out of the wii sandbox should be fairly easier than breaking from the pspemu sandbox. This was true for the Wii and Gamecube, specially since the Wii never emulated the Gamecube, it didn’t need to, it ran Gamecube code natively. If the same applies to the Wii U, then we might see a native Wii U hack coming right after the Wii mode hack.
Again, this is just a wild guess, it might turn out quite the opposite, but I just find it amusing how Nintendo keeps making the same mistakes over and over again while Sony seems to be learning from them.
Let me know your thoughts.

I didn't manage to get a Wii U over the weekend. By the time I got around to ordering one, pre-orders were closed, and I wasn't willing to camp outside in the rain or add my name to the wait list. I'm still getting a Wii U though, and not because of Nintendo Land, New Super Mario Bros. U, or even The Legend of Zelda. I'm getting a Wii U because I'm intrigued by the potential of its RPG library.
[Ed. Note: For more on the Wii U, check out Joystiq's comprehensive coverage.]
As I've discussed before, this is not a new development for Nintendo. Toward the tail end of the Wii years, it made a concerted effort to woo RPG developers. The result was the "Operation Rainfall" games – Xenoblade Chronicles, The Last Story, and Pandora's Tower. Last week, I listed the Wii's Top 10 RPGs for 1UP, and I didn't even have to include Shiren the Wanderer or Tales of Symphonia 2. That platform's RPG selection is deeper than many people know.

Scribblenauts Unlimited won't reach Europe until next year, developer 5th Cell revealed this week. Posting on Twitter, the developer noted "2013" is the European window for both the Wii U and PC versions.
With Unlimited being a Wii U launch arrival in North America, fans expected it to join the system in Europe on November 30. Posting on NeoGAF, 5th Cell CEO Jeremy Slaczka said the 2013 window for Europe is "due to things outside of development," and not related to localization issues.
There's also confusion over the Australian release, with 5th Cell and publisher Warner Bros. apparently contradicting each other. According to 5th Cell,Unlimited is actually limited to North America until 2013. However, Level Up Times reports it's coming to Australia on November 28, according to a Warner Bros. representative. We've reached out to the publisher for clarification and will update if we hear anything.
Update: A Warner Bros. representative tells us details on the European distribution of Scribblenauts Unlimited are coming soon.

Nintendo's TVii is scheduled to launch in "selected regions throughout Europe" in 2013, an official product page displays. TVii was previously described as a feature exclusive to the US and Canada, and is set to hit these regions in December.
TVii is an enhancement for existing television features, throwing a programming guide on the GamePad that allows navigation of cable and satellite shows, as well as YouTube, Netflix, Hulu Plus and other on-demand services. Netflix, YouTube, Hulu Plus and Amazon Instant all have separate, functional apps on North American Wii U consoles right now.

November 25th, 2012, 22:40 Posted By: wraggster
So let's recap. What we know of the Wii U spec strongly suggests that the new Nintendo machine should be something along the lines of an enhanced Xbox 360. We have a tri-core IBM CPU, an improved, more modern AMD Radeon graphics core, twice as much RAM available to developers and we even see a substantial boost in the volume of fast eDRAM directly attached to the GPU. There are trade-offs in any console design, but the key ingredients suggest that 360 ports should transition across to the new hardware fairly easily. Unfortunately, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 proves that the situation is not quite so straightforward.Based on a visual analysis at least, it seems clear that developer Treyarch thought its best bet in bringing Black Ops 2 to the Wii U was to transplant its existing Xbox 360 work lock, stock and barrel across to the new hardware. In putting together our usual comparison videos and galleries, what struck us was the level of parity between the 360 and Wii U games - aside from gamma issues, we're essentially looking at exactly the same presentation. All of this means that the new version gets the same 880x720 native resolution, with the same sharp upscaling filter employed on the Xbox 360 release. There's even 2x multi-sampling anti-aliasing (MSAA) - the first time we've seen hardware AA deployed in-game on a Wii U title (admittedly, it's early days there). To illustrate how close it is, and how the Wii U version of Black Ops 2 sits within the hierarchy of releases available, we've put together an exhaustive series of comparison videos. Here you'll see Black Ops 2 on Wii U compared with Xbox 360, PS3 and PC versions. We also have our first quad format comparison gallery for you to pore over. Our PC and Xbox 360 assets are based on our work on the existing Black Ops 2 Face-Off, but as Treyarch has released a patch to remove some of the excessive blurring from the PlayStation 3 game, we went back and recaptured that in order to give the most up-to-date comparisons (the original Face-Off has been updated too with the latest video).Pretty much everything we said about the image quality on Xbox 360 in the original Face-Off applies here with the Wii U version - it's a remarkably close conversion, from a visual perspective at least. While the PC game provides the benchmark, Treyarch's upscaling algorithms work just as well as they do on Xbox 360, providing a good, clean presentation - quite remarkable bearing in mind just how extensive the horizontal upscale actually is. Despite the removal of the additional blurring added in the 1.02 patch, both Wii U and 360 are still a class apart from the more compromised PlayStation 3 version. One minor difference concerns v-sync - the Wii U version has no tearing whatsoever, while the PS3 and 360 games occasionally tear right at the top of the screen (this is basically unnoticeable during gameplay though).

November 25th, 2012, 00:39 Posted By: wraggster
We hope our readers are familiar with the vast number of ROM hacks for the original 1st-gen Pokemon games. With certain sequences of button presses, it’s possible to duplicate items in the player’s inventory, get infinite money, or even catch a glimpse of the elusive MissingNo. [bortreb] is familiar with all these hacks, but his efforts to program a Game Boy from inside Pokemon is by far the greatest Pokemon glitch ever created.
This ‘total control’ ROM hack was inspired by [p4wn3r]‘s extremely impressive 1 minute and 36 second long speed run for Pokemon Yellow. The technique used in [p4wn3r]‘s run relies on the fact the warp points in Pokemon Yellow are right after the item list in the Game Boy’s memory. By corrupting the item list, [p4wn3r] figured out how to make the front door of his house warp directly to the end of the game resulting in the fastest Pokemon speed run ever.
Realizing this ROM hack is able to control the CPU with only the player’s inventory, [bortreb] wanted to see how far he could push this hack. He ended up writing a bootstrapping program by depositing and discarding items from the in-game PC, and was then able to reprogram the Game Boy with a number of button presses on the D-pad, select, start, A and B buttons.
The resulting hack means [bortreb] can actually make Pong, Pacman, a MIDI player, or even a copy of Pokemon Blue. In the video after the break, you can see all of [bortreb]‘s speed run along with the finale of playing a MIDI file of the My Little Pony theme song. [bortreb] has a really amazing hack on his hands here that really pushes the definition of what can be done by tinkering around with a Pokemon ROM.

The biggest film of the season could make LEGO Lord of the Rings one of gaming’s best-sellers this Christmas.
Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment is working closely with its film colleagues to cross-promote the game with the first instalment in Peter Jackson’s Hobbit trilogy.
“The buzz for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is definitely helping raise the awareness for LEGO The Lord of the Rings – especially amongst younger audiences who may not have been so exposed to the original trilogy,” sales and marketing boss Spencer Crossley told MCV.
“We have ensured that we are an integral part of the movie’s promotional activity, benefiting from trailers, and links on the film’s social media channels.”
The game is out today (November 23rd). TV ads run from the end of November through December. There will also be on-pack promotions with 1m Feel Good kids drinks.

The official midnight opening for next week's Wii U launch will be held at the flagship Oxford Street store of entertainment retailer HMV.
Following reports of high demand for the new console, HMV has even secured extra stock for the launch so that customers will be able to purchase Wii U on the night if they have not been able to pre-order.
The first 100 people in the queue will be given a free copy of New Super Mario Bros U, plus one other title from a select range.
The second 100 people will be given a £5 voucher that can be redeemed against Wii U hardware and games on the night.
500 people will receive a Wii U goody bag, and everyone will be given the chance to win Wii U-related prizes throughout the evening.
Demos of ZombiU, Nintendo Land and New Super Mario Bros U will be on hand for gamers to try out ahead of purchase, with characters from ZombiU and Mario attending to entertain the crowds.
"We're thrilled to be hosting the official midnight launch event for Wii U at our Oxford Street flagship, which is fast-becoming the natural home of all major games launches in the UK," said HMV head of games Ewan Pinder.
Nintendo's UK marketing boss Shelly Pearce added: "We can't wait to get the Wii U into the hands of our fans in the UK and are delighted to be partnering with HMV on this exciting night.
"Not only will those that come down to HMV be amongst the first in the country to get their hands on the console but there will be lots of opportunities to try the games and to find out more about what makes Wii U such a unique console."

Wii U has already sold out, retailers have told MCV.
Multiple games buyers have told us their launch allocation of the Wii U has been completely taken by pre-orders from eager early adopters – one week ahead of the console's November 30th launch.
In fact, some retailers have told us their already taken orders against future Wii U shipments.
Nintendo already told MCV last month that it is working hard to supply the channel with fresh stock as quickly as possible ahead of the Christmas holidays. However, it did admit there was likely to be short supply on day one.
HMV announced this morning it has secured some extra stock for its official midnight opening next Thursday.
The platform holder has been reaching out to potential buyers with an extensive nationwide sampling
tour, giving consumers the chance to try out the unique GamePad controller.
It also kicked off a mammoth marketing plan in October, backed by a budget that exceeds that of the
push behind the original way.
As with the 3DS last year, Nintendo has planned for a launch that extends beyond the initial surge of
the early weeks. Its launch window stretches from November 30th to the end of March, with promising
titles such as Pikmin 3 and LEGO City Undercover due early next year.
MCV has contacted Nintendo for further comment.

THQ has clarified comments made by 4A Games' chief technical officer, Oles Shishkovtsov, about why their upcoming first-person shooter, Metro, won't be available for Nintendo's new Wii U console. Shishkovtsov had told NowGamer, '[The] Wii U has a horrible, slow CPU,' by way of explaining why a Wii U version of Metro wasn't in the works. Now, THQ's Huw Beynon has provided a more thorough (and more diplomatic) explanation: 'It's a very CPU intensive game. I think it's been verified by plenty of other sources, including your own Digital Foundry guys, that the CPU on Wii U on the face of it isn't as fast as some of the other consoles out there. Lots of developers are finding ways to get around that because of other interesting parts of the platform. ... We genuinely looked at what it would take to bring the game to Wii U. It's certainly possible, and it's something we thought we'd like to do. The reality is that would mean a dedicated team, dedicated time and effort, and it would either result in a detriment to what we're trying to focus on or we probably wouldn't be able to do the Wii U version the justice that we'd want.

As Cave Story designer Daisuke "Pixel" Amaya told us in an interview last March, he's been working on a version of his vertical scrolling shmup Guxt for the 3DS, and Nicalis, who's publishing the game, has just tweeted recently that it's been rated by the ESRB and is ready to go. You can download and play the game online for free on the PC right now, though the game will be updated for Nintendo's handheld for sure.
One of the game's producers has tweeted that the title will have a "vertical display mode", so players will be able to tilt the 3DS to hold it vertically, and see the game on a correctly-aligned screen, rather than having a bar running through the middle of the action. Unfortunately, there's no word on exactly when the game will arrive, but considering it's been in development for a while., "soon" is probably the answer you're looking for. Stay tuned.
