Hi!
I'm new here and was just wondering why there is no gbc-emulator for Gameboy Advance...The Gba should be able to handle the gbc-games, right? After all there is a Snes emulator out there!
Thanks

News from C&VG:[br][br]Americans saving up to buy Nintendo's DS on its November 21 release date might have a Zelda-esque quest on their hands as they try to track one down. US retailers are already beginning to pull their pre-orders in the face of overwhelming demand.[br]The dual-screened handheld system, which will sell for $149.99 in the US and come bundled with PictoChat and a demo of Metroid Prime Hunters, has already reached the sales target set by one high street US retailer. They have stopped taking pre-orders so that gamers will not be disappointed on the release day by stock shortages.[br][br]Online US retailers are still accepting pre-orders for the system but many are slapping strict 'one-per-customer' regulations on purchases.[br][br]The news will come as sweet relief for Nintendo who plan to roll out a total of four million DS units for the American launch and the subsequent Japanese release on December 2. The company expects to sell every last one of these units within its financial year.[br][br]Sony's PSP, which launches in Japan on December 12 with a price-tag of 20,790 Yen (approximately 105, $195, or 150 Euro) with a US and European launch to follow, is predicted to shift three million units in the same time period. Japanese import retailers are reportedly doing brisk business on Sony's handheld.[br][br]Unfortunately for us Europeans, without a confirmed release date for either handheld system on this continent we're still in the dark as far as pre-orders go.[br][br]We'll bring you any more news as it happens.[br][br]Those looking for a Nintendo DS to Preorder should check out places like Lik Sang

News from Lik Sang [br][br] An abundance of light means plenty of shadow as well. Samus, intergalactic heroine, finds out the hard way when what looked like a straightforward rescue mission following a distress call turns into a battle to save a planet from vanishing into dark oblivion. It's Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, the highly anticipated sequel to Retro Studios' masterpiece Metroid Prime, which in 2002 introduced a well-received First-Person 3D view to a cult-classic Nintendo series.[br][br]Become the bounty hunter behind the visor once more and travel to a world where a friendly species is facing genocide after a great cataclysm tore the fabric of space and time. Here, Galactic Federation Trooper Squad Bravo went missing. The search for them reveals that this rogue planet Aether sees his natives, the Luminoth (which reside in Light Aether) attacked by the Ing Horde, terrifying beings unleashed from Dark Aether, a dimensional echo. Restoring peace to this once undisturbed place lets Samus embark on a challenging mission, where all the new features of Metroid Prime 2 will definitely come in handy. [br][br]First, speaking of weapons, the Light Beam and Dark Beam will help you to fight the Ing, solve puzzles and unlock doors. Then there are of course freshly tailored suits available (Light and Dark respectively), as well as several visors, for example the Echo variant, which lets you detect enemies by sound resonance. Furthermore, the famous Screw Attack from Metroid games of the past makes its triumphant debut on the Nintendo GameCube, and you'll also be able to rely on Samus' Wall Jump now. And don't forget Multiplayer Metroid: For the first time in the history of the franchise, up to four players can battle each other as they search for weapons, grapple across ceilings and turn into Morph Balls to make their escape. [br][br]Check out the screenshots at Lik Sang

Nintendo has announced that Mario Kart DS, the new version of everyone's favourite go-kart racing game, will be among the titles available for the touchscreen handheld on its December 2 Japanese release date.[br]It will not be among the launch titles when the system hit stores in the US 10 days earlier on November 22. DS fans in the States will have to wait until January 10 to get their hands on the Mario Kart wheel.[br][br]Mario Kart DS brings the total of first-party Japanese launch games up to five, lining up as it does next to Super Mario 64 DS, Pokemon Dash, Band Brothers!, Made in Wario DS and Intuitive Stroke (hmm..). PictoChat and Metroid Prime Hunters: First Hunt, which is actually a demo version of the full game, both come bundled with the system.[br][br]Seven third-party titles are promised for the Japanese launch, but only five are confirmed at present - EA's the Urbz, Sega's Feel the Magic, Spike's Tendo Dokuta, Koei's Mahjongg Tournament and Success' Zoo Keeper.[br][br]The US launch lineup is slated to offer 10 to 12 games which currently include Super Mario 64 DS, The Urbz, Feel the Magic, THQ's Ping Pals, Ubisoft's Sprung (which used to be called Crush), Rayman DS and Asphalt Urban GT and Namco's Ridge Racer DS.[br][br]And Europe? We don't have a clue how the UK or European launch line up will shake out, but since we're looking at a March release for the hardware there's a stack of great games that'll already have been released in the US and Japan including Mario Kart DS Advance Wars DS, Viewtiful Joe, Tiger Woods, Need for Speed Underground and Super Mario Bros. DS. [br][br]We might have to wait longer, but we could be looking at a bumper crop of launch games.

Internet rumours are circulating that Nintendo's DS handheld will launch in the UK with a thoroughly acceptable £129.99 pricetag attached.[br]British games industry journal MCV is reporting that the touchscreen system will launch towards the end of March 2005 with a launch line up of 25 to 30 games.[br][br]The March release date has been common knowledge for a while, and the fact that the US and Japanese dates are so close (November 22 and December 2 respectively) means that there'll be plenty of games around for the UK launch.[br][br]It's the price that (almost) impresses: with the system retailing for $149.99 in the US (approximately £81) and 15,000 yen in Japan (about £76) we were expecting a retail price of around £150-200, given the usual European mark-ups. [br][br]Still, given those conversions from the US and Japanese prices it would seem that we're still getting a slightly raw deal, but we're used to it, eh?[br][br]For your £129.99 you'll get the system itself, an embedded copy of communication game PictoChat, and a demo of Metroid Prime Hunters.[br][br]MCV is quoting "sources close to the Japanese games giant". We've been in touch with Nintendo directly and are currently awaiting confirmation. We'll let you know as soon as we do.[br][br]If so, it's another early salvo from Nintendo in the upcoming DS versus PSP battle. Sony stunned everyone a couple of weeks ago by announcing its new handheld would launch in Japan on December 14 at 20,790 Yen (approximately £105 and $195), a whole lot less than anticipated. The UK and US pricepoints are yet to be announced.

Nintendo has taken the top spot in the Japanese sales chart this week, with Mario Tennis GC selling some 186,000 units as the launch of several new games saw overall game software sales rising by almost 40 per cent week on week.[br][br]Other key new titles to be launched during the week included From Software's latest Armoured Core game, Armoured Core: Nine Breaker, with the PS2 mech action title coming in at number three, while Atlus' Stella Deus and Sony's RPG Wagy Ryu wo Miyo came in at number five and six respectively.[br][br]The Japanese obsession with pachinko gambling machines propelled yet another pachinko game into the top ten, with Tecmo's Raksuho! Pachinko Slot Sengen 2 in at number seven, while SNK Playmore's The King Of Fighters 2003 proved the continued popularity of 2D fighting games, in at number eight.[br][br]EA's Burnout 3 dropped out of the top ten this week in Japan, but was replaced by another western-developed title - with Capcom publishing Activision's True Crime: Streets of LA in the territory, and scraping into the top ten at number ten.[br][br]While none of the other new releases managed to challenge the sales of Mario Tennis, chart supremos Media Create do note that both Stella Deus (which sold 34,000 units) and Waga Ryu wo Miyo (around 31,000 units) sold out their initial allocations in most stores, and could have performed much better if additional stock had been available.[br][br]In terms of hardware, the PS2 is at its lowest ebb in quite some time, with market share of only 34 per cent as stocks dry up and the market waits for the arrival of the slimline redesigned model in the near future. Game Boy Advance rules the roost once more, with 55 per cent market share, while the Cube experiences a significant boost thanks to Mario Tennis, rising to 11 per cent share.

A report this morning in a UK magazine has speculated that Nintendo plans to launch the DS handheld in late March 2005 in Europe, with a UK price point of UKP 129.99 (186 Euro), significantly higher than the equivalent US dollar pricing.[br][br]Citing unnamed sources "close to the Japanese games giant," retail magazine MCV claimed that the system's launch would be accompanied by 20 to 25 games on its arrival, with 40 to 50 available "within weeks" of the launch.[br][br]Nintendo UK could not be reached for a comment at the time of publication, but several retailers contacted by gi.biz confirmed that no pricing information has been conveyed to them as yet, although the late March launch window is indeed likely, and would tie in with Nintendo's previous use of this time of year for the launch of the Game Boy Advance SP.[br][br]If Nintendo really does opt for a UKP 129.99 price point, as MCV speculates, the console giant is likely to come under fire for overpricing in Europe - where that UK pound price point would translate as around 185 Euro, compared with the $149.99 price point in the United States.[br][br]By comparison, Nintendo sells the GameCube for $99 in the USA and 99 Euro in Europe, having brought the price points in line with a series of price cuts in September. The GBA SP, however, remains more expensive in this territory (99 Euro) than it is in the United States ($79).[br][br]The Nintendo DS is set to launch in the United States later this month, and will be accompanied by six software titles at launch with a further six expected by Christmas. Although several more games are expected to appear in the US early in the New Year, speculation of 40 to 50 titles being available in Europe next Spring seems massively optimistic.[br][br]Sony's challenge in the handheld market, the PlayStation Portable, is also widely expected to ship in Europe next March, in a move which promises the first major face-off in this market sector in over a decade - and the first ever genuinely serious challenge to the Game Boy Advance's dominance of the market.

Nintendo has peeled back the gift wrap on WarioWare, Inc. DS, a title slated for release in the country simultaneously with the launch of the DS on December 2. The company has recently taken a dedicated Web site for the game live. While the site doesn't offer much in the way of additional insight on the title, it does give a brief overview on the characters and what kind of minigames to expect. [br][br][br]In particular, WarioWare, Inc. DS will have two characters that will be appearing for the first time in the series. One of them is a robot named Mike. Mike is a Karaoke Robot invented by the nutty Dr. Crygor. Gamers will play through minigames by using the handheld's internal microphone, a hardware function used by only a few launch titles. [br][br]The second new character is a small girl named Ashley, who is a witch in training with a devilish-looking friend named Red. You’ll be sliding objects on the screen during minigames in Ashley’s stages, using the touch-sensitive lower screen of the handheld. [br][br]Most of the characters from past releases in the Warioware franchise are returning to the DS: Mona's stage will feature games where you slide the stylus pen to prompt movement; Jimmy T.'s stage will feature games where you scratch the screen using the pen; Kat and Ana's stages will require you to draw long strokes to advance gameplay; Dr. Crygor's stage will require you to draw circular motions on the screen; and 9Volt and 18Volt's stages will feature nostalgic Nintendo games that can be played for the first time with a touch-sensitive screen. It isn’t known yet whether Orbulon the Alien or the taxi-driving duo, Dribble & Spitz, will be appearing in WarioWare, Inc. DS.

According to the Seattle Post, Nintendo has begun shipping DS handheld units from their distribution center in Redmond, WA. This does not indicate an early launch of the system. Nintendo is simply shipping them out now so they will be in stores and ready for the November 21st launch date. What it does mean is that there might be a handful of stores across the country that accidentally (or purposefully) break the date and begin selling the systems early. This same thing recently happened to Microsoft and Bungie's Halo 2 for Xbox. [br][br]In a related story, some Nintendo promoters received their DS systems today. They'll be using their systems to spread the word on tours in various countries to get people hyped up for the system launch.

Ubisoft, one of the world’s largest videogame publishers, today announced Rayman® DS, Sprung™ and Asphalt Urban GT™ as official launch-window titles in the U.S. for the upcoming release of the Nintendo DS™ system. In fact, Asphalt Urban GT is one of only five launch-day titles arriving on store shelves nationwide on November 23, 2004, at the manufacturers suggested retail price of $29.99. [br][br][br]“We’re thrilled to bring three genre-leading titles to the Nintendo DS that each reach a very different, yet broad, audience,” said Tony Kee, vice president of marketing, Ubisoft. “The Nintendo DS is an innovative and unique portable videogame system. We’re excited to match that level of creativity and provide an all-new experience with our titles, especially Sprung.” [br][br][br]Asphalt Urban GT flies onto the Nintendo DS on four very fast wheels, combining the virtues of both simulation and arcade racing. Players will hit the streets in a wide range of licensed high-performance cars, including Lamborghini, Jaguar, Hummer and more, on tracks from around the world. [br][br][br]Sprung creates an entirely new genre for portable gaming by putting players in the middle of an engaging, risqué and daring adventure with sexy singles at a hip ski resort. The dating simulation, or “stimulation,” title features gender-specific adventures, entertaining dating missions and a hilarious script written by North Shore (FOX) writer Colleen McGuiness. [br][br][br]Rayman®, one of the most recognizable videogame characters around the world, arrives for the first time in full 3D glory on a handheld as he battles to defeat the pirate terror that has enslaved his world. Rayman DS is poised to repeat the successful performance of its predecessor, Rayman® Advance, which was among the top-ten selling launch titles for the Game Boy® Advance system in 2001.

WarioWare Inc, one of the DS's launch titles has just landed itself a new official site as Nintendo gears up for the launch of its exciting new handheld and face the challenge of Sony's PSP.[br]Although providing remarkably little new info for non-Japanese readers, we're reliably informed there's a couple of details on two new characters who'll feature in Wario's DS locker. Ashley is an apprentice witch, who'll examine your sliding skills in a series of every more challenging mini-games, abetted by her fiendish looking friend Red.[br][br]The second new character is Mike, a Karaoke robot created by Dr. Crygor, who'll provide a stern test of your singing skills using the DS's in-built mic. Mike's mini-games should an intriguing test of the DS's speech and sound capabilities and possibly the source of a lot of funny looks on the tube if you decide to join in.[br][br]Warioware Inc. DS is set to launch alongside the handheld console's release in Japan on December 2 and will feature a host of mini-games, returning Wario favourites and a whole bunch of stylus sliding fun.

I have had a look on the web for information relating to Zelda DS. I know its a while before it gets released but does anyone know if it is going to be 2D or 3D. I am guessing that it will be 3D i.e. similar to ocarina of time on the nintendo 64. Also has anyone heard of rumours about a ports of the nintendo 64 zelda titles. I am looking forward to the new made for DS zelda game but ports of the nintendo 64 titles would be excellent.
Thanks

Reggie Fils-Aime, the larger than life head of sales and marketing at Nintendo of America, has stated that Nintendo is not interested in music and movie playback on the company's DS handheld system.[br]In an interview with The Wall Street Journal yesterday, Reggie confirmed that Nintendo was marketing the DS purely as a games platform and that delivering multi-functionality was not Nintendo's aim.[br][br]While Reggie did not comment specifically on the Sony PSP's movie and music playback features, he did refer to Apple's iPod, which has just seen a new colour screen LCD model with photo viewing features added to the range. "If you deliver multifunctionality," said Reggie, "it should be the gold standard."[br][br]It's another reinforcement of Reggie's own enthusiastic assertion at last May's E3 that DS is "all about the games", and if you're looking for reasons to start an argument then his comments could be construed as a subtle attack on the PSP's multifunctionality.[br][br]Sony's handheld is offering video playback from the system's UMDs and MP3 and ATRAC3 music playback. It will be possible to store files on the PSP's memory stick, although space is an issue: the 32MB cards will only hold around 8 MP3 songs, depending on file size (a top-of-the range iPod has a 60GB memory capable of storing 15,000 songs).[br][br]And with the PSP's much publicised battery problems (only last month Fils-Aime quipped: "Those little women at the Tokyo Game Show with those portable [PSP] consoles... were having to go recharge the batteries every two hours!"), there are whispers that Sony may have been wiser to concentrate on the system's primary function: gaming. These are opinions that Nintendo has been quick to encourage with its 'strictly games' stance.[br][br]Not that the Japanese gaming giant will always ignore the possibility of a handheld with multifunctionality. Reggie would not be drawn on whether there were any plans to include movie and music playback in future Nintendo handhelds, but he did not rule it out.[br][br]With the DS's November 21 US release date closing fast (it's December 2 in Japan) and PSP's Japanese release date confirmed for December 12 (no US or European date has been announced) the handheld battle is about to kick off in earnest, and we'll be in the trenches bringing you the war reports.

News from IGN [br][br] Well, it's official, folks. The Nintendo DS is being prepared to ship out to retailers for its November 21st launch. We were able to get our hands on the final, boxed units two weeks before the system's official release date, and we wasted no time ripping the packaging to shreds to show you exactly what you get in the box. And it's always oh-so-satisfying tearing into a new gadget, let me tell you.[br][br]For 149.99, you get a rather sleek box packed with goodies. Along with the system that's nicely packed up in a poly-bag (with a pink styrofoam cushion), there's an AC adapter, a wrist strap, a copy of Metroid Prime Hunters: First Hunt boxed in a cardboard sleeve and protective plastic pouch, two stylus pens, as well as tons of paperwork you're sure to read from cover to cover about epileptic seizures, charging the system, warnings about not taking the system in with you during a bath...that sort of thing. [br][br]The wrist strap actually doubles as the "thumb strap" that Nintendo's Chris Campbell revealed at the Nintendo Gamers Summit during his presentation of Super Mario 64. On the end of the strap is a little centimeter bit of plastic that rests on the tip of your left or right thumb. It's slightly rounded, but not pointed like a stylus. The intention is to give players an alternative way of touching and sliding across the screen without using the player's greasy thumb smearing the plastic.[br][br]The pack-in game, as previously announced, is a demo version of Metroid Prime: Hunter. It doesn't come packaged in the usual plastic "keep case" of the retail games, instead, it's in a cardboard sleeve keeper with a slot for the cartridge itself, as well as a pocket for the instruction manual. The cartridge, much smaller than a GBA cart, also comes in a sleeve, not unlike a smaller version of the sleeves you'd put a trading card in for safe keeping. Notice the three letter codename for Nintendo DS cartridges: NTR. Remember "Nitro"? [br][br]The AC adapter isn't any different than the GBA SP unit's AC adapter, except with Nintendo DS printed on the unit instead of Game Boy Advance SP. There's a good reason for this: both systems can use either adapter. And as an added bonus, if you have Game Boy Advance SP headphones, they can plug in and use the Nintendo DS' adapter port. The system recognizes the headphones plugged in back there, turning off the Nintendo DS speakers so you can listen to the audio through the ears. Interesting that this happens since the DS already has a standard headphone jack as well.[br][br]Out of the box, the system has enough charge to get you started, though Nintendo encourages owners to give it a full charge before using it. Boot up at the start brings up the usual start-up screen of the Nintendo DS: [br][br][br]The first time, though, players will have to adjust the user's language, enter in the system name, the current date, time, as well as the player's birthday. All this is used in Pictochat, and if it's the player's birthday, PictoChat will tell everyone in the current network that it's time to celebrate.[br]

November 12th, 2004, 11:54 Posted By: wraggster
Late Thursday, Nintendo revealed their release schedule for the first half of 2005. And while they emphasized that "new titles for Nintendo franchises like Mario Kart, Animal Crossing and Advance Wars remain in development," the lineup offered few surprises. [br][br][br]What was somewhat surprising was the dearth of new titles for the company's newest format, the DS. Besides the nine previous announced titles, the most notable being Metroid Prime: Hunters and Need for Speed Underground 2, no new titles were for the two-screened handheld. That is likely to change, however, if the platform does well following its November 21 release. [br][br]On the GameCube tip there weren't any new revelations either. That platform's big gun will be Resident Evil 4, which is still arriving in January. That will be backed up by Star Fox: Assault in February and Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Chaos Theory in March. Notably, the schedule did not nail down any firm dates for two of the most anticipated GambeCube titles, Geist and still-unnamed Legend of Zelda game. [br][br]Last but not least, the Game Boy Advance schedule will feature several favorites, but, again, few surprises. The year will kick off with The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap and Banjo Pilot, followed by Ace Combat in February and Mario Party Advance in March. Q2 will see Fire Emblem 2 hit the venerable portable, along with Pokémon Emerald in April. [br][br]However, Nintendo is notorious for throwing surprises every year, so expect more than a few titles to appear on this roster in the coming months. Golfing gamers looking to hit the links with the Nintendo DS version of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005 are now facing a slightly later tee time. Originally slated to launch alongside Nintendo's handheld gaming system on November 21, the game has been pushed back by roughly one month and is now scheduled to land in retail stores on December 14. [br][br][br]EA confirmed the delay to GameSpot News this week by admitting the move was initiated to allow for additional development time. Another EA Sports title, Madden NFL 2005, is still scheduled to launch alongside the DS. [br][br]Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005 will make full use of the DS's dual-screen capabilities, with the upper screen displaying the traditional golfer's view of the course and the lower screen displaying an interactive course map. More exciting is the game's stylus-based swing mechanic, which the company hopes will add an innovative new wrinkle to video game golf.

Nintendo has the kind of headache most companies dream about. On one hand, Nintendo is confronting greater-than-expected consumer demand for its upcoming DS handheld. On the other hand--and here comes the headache--if Nintendo can't meet increased demand, Japanese consumers who can't locate a DS to purchase when it goes on sale December 2 might decide to spend their handheld budget on a Sony PSP instead. Sony's new handheld comes to market in Japan just 10 days after the DS, on December 12. [br][br][br]For now, the market is aggressively seeking out the DS. According to yesterday's Nikkei Journal, Nintendo has revealed that preorders for the Nintendo DS have reached 2 million units, double the company's initial expectations. [br][br]Nintendo had prepped the DS pipeline to manufacture 1 million units for the launch. With demand now twice that, the company has responded by bringing a third factory on board to produce the handheld. The DS is being manufactured in China. [br][br]Nintendo has already closed down most Internet shopping sites selling the DS--those closures came after just one day of order taking (which began, and ended, on November 3). [br][br]While bringing new production facilities on line now won't increase Nintendo's shipment numbers significantly during December, the company expects to meet long-term demand by having 2 million units in the retail channel shortly after the new year begins. [br][br]Nintendo is now raising its sales forecasts for the DS to 4 million, up from 3.5 million, in its current fiscal year (which ends March 31, 2005). [br][br]"Preorders are going smoothly with stores filling up on their online orders," Nintendo president Satoru Iwata remarked to the Nikkei Journal. [br][br]Major retailers in Japan are still taking reservations for the DS, although consumers need to go directly to the stores to reserve. [br][br]Nintendo shares closed today at 12,550 yen ($118.33), a jump of 460 yen (3.8 percent) from the day before.

GBA WinS is a windowing system for the GBA, allowing developers to build their GUIs relying on an expandable library of graphic controls. GBA WinS also deals with text input, using a system called K+. People wanting to build WinS applications can get the GBA WinS Devkit including libs, documentation, examples and a one-click installer from the title URL. In addition, GBA WinS is now open source. Hey, I have preordered an american DS and a couple of games from importmadness for Xmas and i was just wondering if anyone knew why most of the games are released before the actual DS itself...seems a bit odd to me. And also with all this DS ordering madness going on in Japan do you think our import preorders will be affected in anyway? (i.e not enough stock).
Oh well fingers crossed eh.

Have checked out dvdboxoffice.com and lik-sang and I am very interested in pre-ordering myself a DS as a sort of Christmas present to myself. I can get one for around £130 with a top game.
Does anybody know if recent supply problems will stop me getting one before christmas?
Also, will I get stung an import charge once it arrives in the UK?

Any good places I buy a GBA flash cart? I'm looking mostly for a Flash 2 Advance, with are the newest flash carts that work on Linux. I really don't care about commercial games or half the other stuff that the newer carts offer anyway, because I'm just going to be using it for development anyway.

News from Lik Sang [br][br] Nintendo DS is just around the corner! Ahead of what will soon be remembered here as a very tiring shipping week, we have added for preorder all accessories, both Official Nintendo and third-party creations, supposed to be available on or around systems launch. You are free to add any of the items presented below to your system preorder, along with NDS games. Please bear in mind that some preliminary pictures are used in this news article as well as on the products pages, final look might slightly differ.[br][br]Bags, Cases and Protectors[br][br]As usual with a portable system launch, bags and cases are proliferating, with samples already available before the system goes on shelves. The fact is that all you need to make a nylon bag or a carry case are the dimensions of the console, which are published for quite a while already. This is a bit different for other peripherals, which need to be duly tested with a working prototype in final design in order to confirm compatibility and functionality. Nintendo DS is no exception to this principle, and we are having on preorder a selection of the best cases and bags which have been presented to us so far. Of course, we have rejected the really ugly and bad quality models (you couldn't believe what is proposed by some suppliers sometimes). Left on the table are the official Nintendo Mobile Pouch DS and Active Pouch DS, the DS edition of the now famous Airform Pocket, an Aluminium storage case, a nice handy clip for your belt, a so-called "Wacky Pack" with a cool design, and a WaterProof carry bag.[br][br]We also have the classic Screen Protectors (improved compared to the past GBA and GBC models and getting closer in quality to the similar products you get for the PDAs) and the well-known SunFilter from Japan. Finally, in case you would still lose your NDS stylus despite all these bags and storage cases, we also offer a third-party inexpensive replacement stylus as well as we will also carry the Nintendo Stylus 3-Pack.[br][br]Batteries and Power Products[br][br]The most important concern in the import gamers' mind right now is about the power issues. At Lik Sang, we have already in stock several electricity solutions for all countries and all outlets in the whole world. For the home we carry standard AC Adapters for all three continents (Asia, Europe and USA). For the car, we have the 12V cigarette-lighter adapter. For the PC or Laptop USB plug, we have the USB Recharger Cable. If you want to convert two standard batteries into a couple of hours of Lithium battery life, we propose the Emergency Charger. If finally, you have nothing else on you than your bare hands, there is nothing else to keep playing the game than the MiniWinding Charger. For those who like to play for dozens of hours in a row or away from any type of outlet at all (on a plane for instance), we also expect delivery of third-party battery packs for the Nintendo DS, allowing you to carry two or more and switch from one to another when the energy reserve runs low...[br] [br][br]More info at Lik Sang

News from Lik Sang [br][br][br] Welcome to the latest Nintendo DS Update at Lik-Sang.com. This article comes with info that many of you have been waiting for. The Nintendo DS is not even released and already one of the best selling systems worldwide, even surpassing the pre-orders of the GBA.[br][br]Special Pre-Orders are Closed - Time to Confirm[br][br]If you have placed a special pre-order, it is now the right time to make up your mind: the deadline is November 21, which marks the US release of the Nintendo DS. The price for the Nintendo DS system has been set to $169.90 and includes a $20 coupon for future purchases at Lik-Sang.com. In order to make the best out of the global shortage, there are three versions available. You should have received an email by now with further instructions how to confirm your order.[br][br]Placing a New Order[br][br]If you have not taken advantage of the special pre-order system, it is recommended to place your regular order as soon as possible to shorten the waiting time. Nintendo has announced that pre-orders for the systems are far above their expectations and there is a long waiting time ahead until everyone is able to receive his system.[br][br]Shortage Coming Up[br][br]Nintendo's new DS handheld has drawn 2 million orders in advance of its Japanese release, reported the Nihon Keizai Shimbun last week. That's the number of units retailers have placed orders for since Nintendo first began accepting them November 3. To cope with advance demand for the handheld, which is reportedly double what it had initially expected, Nintendo is spreading DS production to a third manufacturing facility in China. Originally it was to be produced at only two factories.[br][br]That still apparently won't be enough to fill all the orders placed by Japanese retailers, however. Nintendo expects to ship just over one million units in Japan by the end of the year (and an equivalent number in North America), and fill remaining orders after the turn of the year. Nintendo plans to ship four million units by the end of their fiscal year (which ends next March 31). For comparison, the Game Boy Advance SP reportedly drew only 1.5 million orders in Japan by the end of its first month of availability.[br][br]In the past, Nintendo has often tried to limit supplies of new hardware at launch to boost demand. However, nowadays, quickly establishing a sizable installed base at launch is critical for new hardware, since it drives future software support for the platform. With Sony's PSP, which launches in Japan December 12, expected to be in short supply during its first months of release, Nintendo is likely looking to deliver as many DS units to the market as possible.[br][br]Street Prices are Skyhigh[br][br]While the system is supposed to be available for $149.99 in the USA and Yen 15,000 in Japan, dealers all over the world take advantage of the shortage situation. Otakus in the streets of Hong Kong will have to pay HK$ 1800 ($230) for the system, some dealers even asked their customers to buy it along with 6 games or they wouldn’t accept any pre-order. This time the madness isn’t only home in Asia, various US suppliers contacted Lik Sang with system prices ranging between $180 and $200. Without a game, of course ;-).[br][br]Region Free and Worldwide Compatible[br][br]Nintendo keeps its old tradition and made the Nintendo DS region free. You will be able to play any game from any region, worldwide. But that’s not the only import-friendly thing: the system is also using several accessories from the Gameboy Advance SP. The AC Adapter, USB Charger Cable, and even the Mini Winding Chargers are working with the Nintendo DS. If you closely look at the battery photos from E3, even this one looks suspiciously similar to the GBA specimen (not confirmed).[br][br]The Version Advantage (US, Japanese & Asia)[br][br]Next to the US version of the Nintendo DS at November 21, and the Japanese version of the Nintendo DS at December 2, Nintendo will also release an Asian version of the system. Unfortunately, the Asian system is announced for January 2005, and not for December as reported on some web sites.[br][br]System Version Manual Menu Power Region Free Release [br]Nintendo DS USA English 6 Languages 110V Yes Nov 21, 2004 [br]Nintendo DS Japanese Japanese (engl. here) 6 Languages 110V Yes Dec 02, 2004 [br]Nintendo DS Asia English & Chinese 6 Languages 240V Yes Jan 2005 [br][br]Just as with the Gameboy Advance and Gameboy Advance SP, the Asian systems are distributed in countries such as Hong Kong, Malaysia, Taiwan, Indonesia and Singapore. Many of these countries, such as Hong Kong, are using 220V/240V outlets at their houses. These units come with 240V AC Adapters and with multilingual (with English) user guides and packing. Perfect choice for European importers who are willing to wait a bit.[br][br]Lik-Sang.com is located in an open and independent market and has access to all systems. Depending on your alternative choices for your order, you can speed up the delivery process for your system a lot by setting the correct values.[br][br]Alternative Choice to Speed Up Delivery[br][br]If you have placed an order for the Nintendo DS system, you will find an option in your My Account page (order details) which allows you to set alternative versions for your Nintendo DS system. If you have ordered a Nintendo DS US system, Lik Sang recommends setting the second choice to a Japanese unit and the third choice to an Asian version.[br][br]This is the only way to make sure you will get your hands on the Nintendo DS as soon as enough units are available. Nintendo DS is region free, all accessories are compatible and the only difference will be the user guide and packing (English user guides are available to download from Nintendo.com).[br][br]Shipping and Shipping Methods[br][br]It is recommended to use a courier such as UPS, DHL or EMS Speedpost for your order. Courier shipping prices for systems and games range between $15 and $30, but please understand that this will only speed up the time of delivery and will not speed up the waiting time. If there is no supply of Nintendo DS systems until Nintendo ships more units, even UPS can’t help.[br][br]UPS and DHL usually take 2-4 days to major destinations, while EMS Speedpost can take about 1 week. Airmail, the fourth option available, will usually take 2–4 weeks.[br][br]Airmail and EMS comes with an insurance that covers a maximum of $100, while all shipments dispatched by UPS or DHL are fully covered.[br][br]Please understand that Global Priority cannot be used for Nintendo DS shipments.[br][br]$20 Coupon with all Nintendo DS Systems[br][br]Each Nintendo DS system will contain a coupon for $20 off of a $40 order at Lik-Sang.com. The coupon can be used for any item available and has no restrictions. [br][br]Lots more information at Lik Sang [br][br]Remember also that Nintendo DS News has all the info on the Nintendo DS console and the games.

Questions over whether Microsoft-owned studio Rare is working on titles for the Nintendo DS platform have been raised again by a throwaway comment made by a member of the firm's handheld team in an interview.[br][br]Speaking with US website IGN, an unnamed spokesperson for the team said that "personally, I would love to do a sequel to either Blast Corps or Sabre Wulf on the DS" in response to a question about projects the team would like to undertake.[br][br]While it's certainly far from being a conclusive statement, the comment has reopened the question of whether the team is working on titles for the Nintendo DS - something which parent company Microsoft has, if not actually denied, at the very least avoided confirming.[br][br]Rare has continued to develop titles for the Game Boy Advance since Microsoft bought it in an unprecedented $375 million deal in 2002, and is now also working on the Windows CE based Gizmondo platform, with a version of GBA puzzle title It's Mr Pants planned for the new handheld.[br][br]It's been widely rumoured that the team has had DS development hardware for some time, but as yet this has not been confirmed. Microsoft is certainly favourable towards Nintendo's handheld, however; recent comments from Xbox chief Robbie Bach revealed that the firm is hopeful that the looming battle between Sony and Nintendo over handhelds will "distract" Sony from the home console business, where Microsoft is hoping to continue to win market share from the Japanese giant.

The release of Nintendo's new DS system is tantalisingly close for our American and Japanese cousins. Unfortunately on these shores we have a slightly longer wait.[br]But never mind that for the moment, Nintendo of America have just opened the official website for Mario 64 DS and it provides a beautiful teaser for anyone salivating at the prospect of getting their hands on one of the touchscreen machines.[br][br]Check out the movies if you're still confused at to how the dual screens work and how they may revolutionise gaming. Hopefully we'll have our hands on the real deal later this week![br][br]http://nintendods.com/sm64ds/final/

Hi all,
I have had Pikmin for about 3 months.
About a month ago, it started locking up on occasion. Now it locks up everytime.
Since I didn't finish the game, I decided to purchase a new one thinking the game was damaged (it had massive scratched on the back).
When I tried to play the new game, it froze almost immediately.
Any ideas why this would happen with only Pikmin and no other GC game?
Thanks,
Mark

News from LIk Sang [br][br]The Metroid series has always had a loyal fanbase and for some of us at Lik Sang who've been falling for Samus since she first lifted her helmet back in the days of the NES, it's great to see the releases continue with Metroid Prime 2: Echoes out today. Scoring a 9.5 on IGN, and a 9.1 on GameSpot, they say "If you finished Metroid Prime and were left wanting more, Echoes gives it to you in spades." We say, bring it on. The game is poised to hit our Hong Kong warehouse with tomorrow morning's deliveries from the USA, and preorders will be processed smoothly. Some buffer stock will be left available for new purchases. [br][br]This time the famous Screw Attack from those past Metroid games makes its triumphant debut on the GameCube, and you'll also be able to rely on Samus' Wall Jump now. Don't forget Multiplayer Metroid either, where for the first time in the history of the franchise, up to four players can battle each other as they search for weapons, grapple across ceilings and turn into Morph Balls to make their escape.[br][br]Metroid Prime 2: Echoes is finally out there, and as with all games, this is posted free anywhere in the world. Also if you add other items like toys, accessories or anything into your order, the weight of the game is deducted from the total, so you only pay shipping of the additional items. Qualified games are ALL titles for all major systems that are not already reduced or contain heavy items (ie. hardware). Just look for the little free shipping icon , and the full conditions are here.[br][br]Freeloader lets you play import games like this US title or any region, on any GameCube or Panasonic Q worldwide. PAL/NTSC/JAP, it makes no difference, just insert the disc, then swap it for your game, and play.

News from Lik Sang [br][br] Now shipping is one of the biggest selling games of all time on Lik-Sang, GameCube's Naruto: Gekitou Ninja Taisen 3. All pre-orders are getting processed as we speak, please allow our super busy warehouse one or two days to kill the work, as there are literally thousands of reservations for this ultra-hot title. For those that haven't grabbed a copy already, more stock is available and new orders are being taken right now for US$ 64.90[br][br]Tomy once again gave out a pre-order bonus just for Japan. With the second game it was a headband, and this time it's the Naruto Armband, which we received enough of to slip into the parcels of the first 30% of lucky pre-ordering fans! The item is an exact replica of one of Uzumaki Naruto's most precious belongings. Awarded to him by his teacher Iruka, the armband marks its wearer as a full fledged Ninja. And now, thanks to Bandai, the lucky lot can mark themselves as a full fledged Naruto Fan with a armband of their very own. [br][br]As with all games, this is shipped free anywhere in the world. Also if you add other items like toys, accessories or anything into your order (we've linked to some at the bottom of this news), the weight of the game is deducted from the total, so you only pay shipping of the additional items. Qualified games are ALL titles for all major systems that are not already reduced or contain heavy items (ie. hardware). Just look for the little free shipping icon , and the full conditions are here.[br][br]Since it began two years ago, there's been over 100 anime episodes, not to mention the 250+ manga comics, many games across GameCube, PS2 and GBA, plus the Japanese hailing it as the next Dragonball. It's clear that if there's just one anime waiting to burst onto the world scene, it's Naruto. With a modern twist (and bright orange clothing at that!) on the classic ninja, the story follows Uzumaki Naruto as he attempts to become the number one in the Hidden Leaf village. The cell shaded game, being adapted from the anime, takes the form of a fast paced, freedom-for-all fighter similar to the legendary Power Stone (by Capcom on the Dreamcast). [br][br]One reason for the importing craze over Naruto titles is that despite the Japanese language barrier (there's still no sign of an English release for any Naruto game), the frantic four player fun is so easy to get into, it's no problem to just pick up a controller and jump in. Things just got that extra bit insane too, with a brand new '3 on 3 mode', similar to the tag team style loved in King of Fighters.[br][br]Along with the one player arcade modes, VS, Team Battle, Survival and more, there's also a story section, plus hidden extra modes. All 25 characters (yes, including Itachi!) have been confirmed, plus one of the four secret fighters, Anko (highlight to read - for spoiler reasons). Newbies include Jiraiya (aka. Pervert Sennin, as Naruto would call him) who can summon a Toad of any size, the 15 year old girl Temari (older sister to Kankuro), and Chouji, who can expand his body to 10 times it's original size! Now you probably have some idea of the chaos that consumes the screen when four such characters are fighting at once![br][br]The full roster includes Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura, Kakashi, Iruka, Zabuza, Haku, Rock Lee, Kiba, Hinata, Shikamaru, Ino, Gaara, Kankuro, Neji, Gai, Orochimaru, Jiraiya, Tsunade, Shino, Chouji, Temari, Tenten, Sarutobi, and Itachi. [br][br]Along with the stand alone game, we have a Naruto 3 + Freeloader pack, which comes with the latest FreeLoader 1.06B, letting you play import titles on any GameCube machine, from anywhere in the world. Also while many of our Naruto figures have sold out, we still have great collections in stock, which make the perfect companion to the game, or great stocking stuffers.

Nintendo fans, start stretching your thumbs. Following Sega's release of Feel the Magic: XY/XX, Activision and Electronic Arts both announced today that Spider-Man 2 and The Urbz have shipped for the DS. The pair joins Ubisoft's Asphalt Urban GT and EA Sports' Madden NFL 2005 as being available for the device, according to EB Games' Web store. [br][br][br]However, while some stores are selling games for the portable, the DS itself still won't be in gamers' hands until Sunday, November 21. However, as was the case with Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow and several other recent games, the device has "premiered" at a celebrity-studded event (pictured). [br][br]Held at the The Day After, the "exclusive location" until recently called Montmartre, celebrities like Cuba Gooding Jr., Orlando Jones, Taryn Manning, Anthony Keidis, Rachel Hunter, J.C. Chasez, Mila Kunis, Jerry Bruckheimer, and Alias' Michael Vartan were among the first people to follow Nintendo's motto "touching is good" and fondle the dual-screen handheld. "Yo, this is the dopest thing I've seen in my life," said Scrubs star Donald Faison, either drawing on years of gaming experience or feeling the effects of the VIP lounges' complimentary cocktails.

Give an infinite number of monkeys an infinite number of typewriters and you will get the complete works of Shakespeare. But give the same number of simians the same number of computers and the result is the internet. Which explains why the web is such a forum for chimp-like chatter. [br][br]So when Nintendo started running a poll on their official site asking readers how much they would pay for a device that allowed them to play all their old N64 cartridges on Gamecube, it was bound to attract some attention. The options ranged from 'No thanks' to being willing to pay up to $59 for the device. We voted too but sadly no running totals or results were ever shown.[br][br]If you want to make your voice heard the poll is still running on the official Nintendo site but the question remains was this a subtle feeler put out by Ninty for a new piece of kit or the actions of a bored Bonobo who's grown tired of bananas? We don't know yet but, once we do, you will be the first people to know.

There been about a million different little add-ons for the Game Boy Advance (like the GBA Movie Player, the iCard, and a GPS attachment, so this shouldn’t come as any surprise, but Agatsuma Entertainment say that they’re coming out with TV tuner attachment for the new Nintendo DS (which is now just a couple of days away) that will pop into the Game Boy Advance catridge slot on the bottom of the console and run on its own set of batteries.[br][br]

This morning, game journalists' inboxes were jam-packed with press releases from most major game retailers about Sunday's launch of the Nintendo DS. All hyped their various launch events for the dual-screen portable, most prominently (judging by the number of e-mails) EB Games' midnight madness sale at its new "flagship store" in Los Angeles. [br][br][br]However, it appears several stores are already placing the DS into excited Nintendophiles' sweaty hands. Reports (and pictures) began to surface today that a few Best Buy outlets in Arizona sold several units, presumably by mistake. Unconfirmed reports have also come in DSs were purchased at large, non-game focused retail chains such as Circuit City, Toys 'R Us, and Wal-Mart, which usually get larger shipments in advance. [br][br]Regardless, as of Sunday, November 21, anyone can buy the Nintendo DS--provided you can find one. Numerous reports say that DS games which have already shipped-- Feel the Magic: XY/XX, Spider-Man 2, The Urbz: Sims in the City, Asphalt Urban GT, and Madden NFL 2005 have already been selling out at game retailers nationwide.

News From Lik Sang [br][br] Nintendo of Japan announced a TV Tuner for the Nintendo DS which will also work for the Gameboy Advance SP. The unit is supposed to hit the shelves of Japanese retailers in January 2005 for Yen 9,240. The unit requires 4 AAA alkaline batteries, which will provide 6 hours TV playback. The unit is being developed by Agatsuma Entertainment, and it is currently not known if it will be sold as first party accessory under the Nintendo brand, or as licensed accessory under the name of Agatsuma.[br][br]As soon as more news and better images emerge from Japan, especially about a planned US or European release, we will be updating the Nintendo DS section. In the meantime, the Japanese unit, which will most probably have some difficulties with PAL or US TV networks, has been placed on pre-order for US$ 89.

Massive News and fantastic article about the worlds most wanted Console this Xmas, heres the news from Lik Sang [br][br] The Grail has been delivered this Saturday morning and the whole Lik Sang is now in effervescence. The first batch of Nintendo DS systems has come in very limited amount and only a small share of the preorders (placed in March!!) are on their way to the luckiest hardcore gamers among you. Three much larger shipments are expected throughout the next weeks until the Japanese version arrives as well. [br][br]If you are thinking about ordering your Nintendo DS system over the weekend, please carefully read this. Shortage is ahead and it seems that the whole planet is running after the Nintendo DS![br][br]First Impressions and Hands-On Report[br][br]The box of the North American Nintendo DS is wearing English, Spanish and French languages, as it is distributed not only in the USA, but also in Canada and Mexico. When opened, it contains the powerful Nintendo DS with its stylus, the US power supply (if this plug does not fit with your country's outlets, this is what you need) its multi-lingual user manual, a hand-wrist thingy, a demo-cartridge of Metroid Prime Hunters and already a second replacement stylus, showing that Nintendo is ready for you to lose one or two at some point. There is also a "Register your Unit Now" card with greetings from NOA.[br][br]As explained in the user's manual, the hand-wrist must be attached to the back of the unit, and then rolled around your thumb. It has a little plastic part for you to touch the screen without leaving greasy fingerprints on it. The strap seems a little short to me, and I already foresee numerous third-party products popping up in the near future to deliver improved practical solutions to this problem.[br][br]It's definitely bulkier than GBAs or SPs, and it's also heavier in weight. It feels about the same as having a GameCube controller in your hands in mass, even though the shape is very different of course. I did not have the same sensation yet as when holding the so-called portable systems I was playing with in the late eighties-early nineties (Atari Lynx I & II, PC Engine GT, Nomad). The Nintendo DS offers four buttons for your right hand on the front part, with an additional select/start combo. On your left, the traditional D-Pad and the power button. On the top edge, you can find the power input, the L and R shoulder-buttons, the stylus compartment and the NDS cartridge slot. On the bottom edge, there is a volume dialer, the headphone jack and the GBA game slot. The battery lid is at the back side of the console.[br][br]When powered on for the first time, the Nintendo DS display some settings and tweakings screens to go through. Everything looks PDA-style there, far more advanced than on any video gaming handheld I've used so far. You enter your nickname, select your language (from six different tongues), enter the correct date and the current time, enter your birth date until you reach the windwowish screen asking you to "Re-Start" the system in order to take your new entries in account. Once you went through these quick and user-friendly steps (damn the stylus makes things fast and simple), you can power on your system again, this time to play games.[br][br]When starting the unit with a game inside, you still go through a menu screen. The top screen then shows you the clock and calendar, while the bottom screen offers you four options to click from: Play the Inserted NDS Game, play the inserted GBA game, use PictoChat or use the DS Download Play mode. Pictochat is the chat software mentioned everywhere already, in which you are drawing and writing your messages with the stylus, and then exchange them with your friends, using Wi-Fi technology.[br][br]After taking a quick look at this "community" feature, I went into the real action, splashing up the Metroid Prime Hunters playable demo. The action-packed first person shooter boasts great 3D animated graphics, and the gameplay is incredibly smooth and innovative. You use your thumb on the bottom touch screen to aim and look around (like with a mouse on PC), while the L and R shoulder buttons are the firing triggers. The D-Pad allows character movements (run, walk, side-stepping etc). Technically impressive too, the Metroid Prime Hunters Demo really shows off and demonstrates the power of the hardware. Interestingly, if you are closing your NDS by folding it in the middle of a game, it goes into sleep mode, pausing the software (like a Laptop). When you open it back, you are exactly at the point you left. If you do this with Super Mario 64 DS, Yoshi even says "bye". [br][br]I then went ahead and opened the plastic seal of a Mario 64 DS, plugging in the cartridge in the double-screen machine. While the top screen shows you the action, the bottom touch screen is used as a map, highlighting key points from times to times. The graphics looked sharper to me than on Nintendo 64, though the smaller screen is for sure helping giving them a seemingly better resolution. Still, the details and colors looked less "bright" to my eye than in the past, and slightly remastered since the good old N64 days. But then again, I'm maybe just high from the excitement of holding the DS in my hands.[br][br]Wireless Multiplayer Gaming[br][br]The Wireless mode of the Nintendo DS is really impressive. Whether you play VS mode with Mario 64 DS, or if you send messages to each other using Pictochat, the range goes as far as 10 to 30 meters, even passing through walls and doors. We expect kids to go wild with it during boring school sessions in the next couple of months. Not to mention the cheating tool it can become... Nintendo just opened itself another niche market. The technology used for wireless connectivity is IEEE 802.11b, which some of you might already know from Wireless home or office networks.[br][br]Accessories Compatibility Testing[br][br]As anticipated, GBA SP Multivolt AC Adapters, Car Adapters, USB Charger Cables or other Emergency Chargers all work fine with the Nintendo DS. This was in fact just check-tested to convince the skeptical minded people that the power plug from the NDS is really the same as the GBA SP connector. The good news of the day was the fact that the GBA Movie Player is also compatible with the new Nintendo bad boy. The display quality is really great and there is absolutely no problem whatsoever, it works like a charm, same as on any Gameboy Advance system.[br][br]If you cut away the two small plastic pieces of a standard GBA SP battery (see pictures), you can use it with your Nintendo DS. This is of course only recommended for people who know what they are doing, but this might solve your temporary power issues if you are waiting for some first party batteries to arrive, or if you already have a bunch of GBA SP batteries. With this piece of info the last power-related question importers had is now also answered. [br][br]Even the GBA Movie Player ($24.90) works great with the Nintendo DS, and looks damn good on the unit. Not only fits the new design of the GBA Movie Player to the Nintendo DS, also the display quality is brilliant on the better Nintendo DS screens. A nice option of the Nintendo DS is that you can move the GBA display to the bottom or top screen, whatever you prefer.[br][br]The Pictures Gallery, including the Guts (Internal-Shots) of the NDS[br][br]As usual, this Lik Sang review is illustrated through heaps of high resolution pictures of the systems, from all angles... and from inside! Lik Sang's tradition has been respected; we could not resist giving you one more of our popular "internal guts" picture sessions which it seems you all enjoy very much. Opening the Nintendo DS could be performed using the GBA Opening Tool, as the screws are the same as on previous Nintendo productions. [br][br]The selection of screenshots are massive, check out Lik Sang for all of them.[br][br]Also Nintendo DS News has lots of news and more about the Nintendo DS.

Hey - I was looking at all the silly accessories that they have out for the GBA the other day, and I had a thought. Does anyone else think it's strange that, with all the ridiculous add-ons Nintendo marketed for the GBA, they never came out with a simple A/V cord that could come out of the GBA and into a television? I realize, if you have a GameCube, you can buy the GBA Player and hook your GBA up to the TV that way, but it seems like there should have been some way to directly hook your GBA into the TV.

If you've ever enjoyed video games, you've likely played Mario™, Madden or Metroid®, The Sims™ or Spider-Man™ - but you've never played them like this. The names and characters might be familiar, but now you can interact with them in completely new ways. [br][br]On Nov. 21, just in time for the holidays, gamers across North America will begin snapping up the most innovative game platform in a decade, the Nintendo DS™. Boasting dual screens, touch-screen and voice-recognition interfaces and two forms of wireless connection, the 1 million Nintendo DS units available in North America already are expected to be depleted by year's end. [br][br]"Retailers began calling for more Nintendo DS units even before the first ones arrived," explains Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of sales & marketing. "They're reflecting the demands of game players for entirely new ways to enjoy games - not just playing the same old games on a different platform. It really comes down to delivering a new experience and that's what we're doing." [br][br]Nintendo DS comes embedded with the PictoChat™ communication feature and bundled with a playable demo of the upcoming Metroid Prime® Hunters. In addition, the system will have a dozen titles available during its launch window, spanning every genre, including Super Mario 64 DS from Nintendo, Madden NFL 2005, Tiger Woods PGA TOUR® Golf and The Urbz™: Sims in the City™ from EA, Spider-Man 2™ from Activision, Ping Pals™ from THQ, Feel the Magic™: XY/XX from SEGA, Rayman® DS and Asphalt Urban GT™ from Ubisoft and Ridge Racer® DS and Mr. DRILLER®: Drill Spirits™ from Namco. [br][br]By the end of March, the Nintendo DS game library will include 20 to 25 games. More than 125 games remain in development worldwide, from Nintendo as well as every major third-party developer. And because Nintendo DS is backward compatible with Game Boy® Advance SP games, it already has a library of more than 550 games. "Interest in Nintendo DS is very high as we head into the holidays," says Jeff Griffiths, CEO and president of Electronics Boutique. "This is a must-have item for a wide variety of people, older and younger, this holiday season." [br][br]Its clamshell design protects both screens, and its rechargeable battery allows for six to 10 hours of play on a single charge. The launch is being supported by an aggressive, multifaceted marketing program, which includes the "touching is good" campaign that targets a hip, male demographic in lifestyle magazines and on hot broadcast and cable television programs. Additional information about Nintendo DS is available at http://www.nintendods.com. [br][br]Nintendo DS launches in Japan on Dec. 2. By the end of 2004, Nintendo will ship 2 million units worldwide and another 2 million by the end of March.

It's the old story, give a gamer anything with moving or indeed non-fixed parts and bosh, it'll either: a) disappear randomly b) fall down the back of the sofa or c) end up as the dog's latest chew toy.[br]Well never fear prospective DS owners, as anticipating your every need, Nintendo has stepped in to plug the no-stylus black hole, with a rather attractive set of spare styli (yup that is the plural, we've checked) to cater for those 'my god where's my poking device gone?' moments.[br][br]Simple yet ...ahem stylish, this is the first pic we've managed to get our hands on and it absolutely guarantees three-in-a-bed action, if ever your on-board stylus goes astray.[br][br]Rumours that it may also be dual- or even triple-wielded to poke close range rivals in the ribs during intense Metroid Prime Hunters: First Hunt sessions are so far, unsubstantiated.

Until yesterday, only a select group of game journalists and celebrities could actually fulfill Nintendo's promotional slogan for its new DS handheld: "Touching is good." [br][br][br]But as of yesterday, the hoi polloi could also finally get their hands on the dual-screen handheld. That's right--the DS has launched, meaning that everyday Nintendophiles everywhere can begin stroking, fondling, and caressing the device. That is, provided they can find a DS. Due to the numerous "midnight madness" events at many game retailers, the device is reportedly hard to find.

Dead pixels. That's the name for those annoying little spots you get on an LCD screen that stay stuck on a particular colour for all eternity, thereby ruining your life.[br]A couple of unlucky DS owners in the US (although they're not that unlucky - they could be waiting until next March for their fancypants touchscreen handheld, like some people) have reported that their brand new system screen already has one or two dead spots on it.[br][br]Fear not, though, for Nintendo has been quick to voice their commitment to resurrecting those dead pixels, for free, since any affected DS is clearly still under 1 year warranty. In a statement issued on Nintendo's US customer service website yesterday they said:[br][br]"With a small number of Nintendo DS screens, one or two dots on the screen may appear to be "stuck" on a particular color, such as white or red. This effect is caused when a particular pixel (the dots that make up the screen) is not working properly, even with the high quality standards set by LCD manufacturers. You will find this situation is common in many LCD devices, (PC monitors, televisions, cell phones, etc.). [br][br]"It's important to understand that this issue will remain limited to the pixels you have already noticed. The problem will not get any worse and you should not expect to see the problem in any other areas of the screen. [br][br]"We suggest that you use your system for a few weeks to determine whether this interferes with your enjoyment of game play. If, after using your system for awhile, you feel that this tiny dot is too distracting, the Nintendo DS does carry a one-year warranty. We are happy to inspect and, if necessary, fix your system at no charge within the warranty period."[br][br]Good old Nintendo. If that "tiny dot" really is getting on your nerves they'll fix the little bugger(s) up for free.

What we're really trying to say is that Ubisoft has confirmed Rayman DS as an official European launch title for the Nintendo DS, making it the first 3D incarnation of the platform-mastering oddity to hit a handheld. [br][br]Complementing his launch-date unveiling, which is probably around March-time 2005, are two other Ubisoft games, the intriguing, adult-oriented Sprung and arcade racer Asphalt Urban GT. Certainly, the former has grabbed our attention, sounding like Leisure Suit Larry set at a ski resort. It's basically a dating game with lots of 'simulating' action promised. Ho hum...[br][br]As for Asphalt, which is being developed by Gameloft, you get to hare around tracks in all manner of Jaguars and Lamborghinis. You can ch-ch-check out screens for that one plus the other two titles right here. Lovely.

News From Lik Sang [br][br] Viewtiful Joe 2[br][br]Producing one of the most original looking games in years, Capcom's Viewtiful Joe also managed to do what many such titles fail to, and became a hit. Now the sequel to this zany brawler is out, with all pre-orders for the US GameCube version shipping as we speak. PlayStation 2 owners need not wait long to join in this time either, with the US PS2 poised for Dec 7th. Pre-orders for the latter are still being taken here at just US$ 48.90[br][br]The first Viewtiful Joe really looked unlike anything else, with such a unique art style, and madness exploding across every inch of your screen. This is truly a case of where pictures don't do the game justice, and where you must see it moving to believe it. Just check this out: Official Trailer[br][br] [br][br]In Viewtiful Joe 2, Joe and his girlfriend Silvia, who's now free and very feisty, are ready to face more challenging enemies and obstacles. Both are playable, and equipped with her pompoms for up close fights and projectiles for long distance, Silvia proves that she's as mean and cool as Joe himself. You can switch between the love birds at any time, with the press of a button, but the title also boasts a number of other play and graphic enhancements. This includes a new special effect "Replay" option which allows you to record your kicking of ass, and then loop it back, dishing out triple the normal damage.[br]

News from the XLink Kai Site [br][br] Well, the DS has been available for at least 24 hours in the states - and already a number of Kai users and moderators have begun to analyse the protocol the DS uses to wirelessly communicate.[br][br]At this point in time, thanks to some awesome input from Blaze and shadowace, I'm happy to say that im 90% sure that we can tunnel the DS, using the existing kaiEngine codebase. We still have a lot of testing and work to do, but I hope to be able to give you the full story as soon as possible

Tiger Woods PGA TOUR(R) for the Nintendo DS will follow in December. [br][br]"Today is a great day for gamers worldwide," said Jordan Edelstein, Senior Product Manager at EA. "The Nintendo Dual Screen is really innovative hardware. We couldn't be more excited help introduce players to an all new gaming experience with two of our biggest, most exciting franchises." [br][br]The Urbz: Sims in the City and Madden NFL 2005 both take advantage of the unique Nintendo DS features. The Urbz: Sims in the City benefits from the one-of-a-kind Nintendo DS capabilities by offering players a touch-screen input and a multitude of in-game features that are not available in any other version of the game. Exclusive features for the Nintendo DS include 24 objects, a unique touch-screen menu system, custom painting mode, 6 new minigames, 7 new characters and 5 unique pet species that players can create with the special in-game 'gene manipulator'. [br][br]Like The Urbz, the new Madden NFL 2005 game for the Nintendo DS gives players unprecedented control during gameplay. Gamers can now use the Nintendo DS touch screen to call plays, utilize the kick meter and select audibles at the line of scrimmage. The second screen also is home to Field Radar, which allows gamers to see where all 22 players are on the field while staying in the heart of the action on the other screen. Madden NFL 2005 breaks new ground by allowing players to go head-to-head via wireless play. The game delivers unprecedented 3D graphics while featuring authentic uniforms for all 32 NFL teams and player portraits for each NFL player. With a full season mode and fun game modes such as Situation Mode and 2-Minute Drill, Madden NFL 2005 for the Nintendo DS delivers its signature level of depth in the palm of your hand. [br][br]Coming in December, Tiger Woods PGA TOUR for the Nintendo DS retains the hallmarks of the series including legendary courses and world-class golfing. As with the hit console version that inspired it, players will take on Tiger Woods, Vijay Singh, Jack Nicklaus and other golfing greats from past & present. Players create their golfer; develop their skills and step on to the green to challenge the masters on some of the world's top courses including five licensed and one fantasy courses from the Tiger Woods PGA TOUR series. However, unlike any past iteration, this innovative version of the game allows players to utilize touch screen technology to command control of their swing and position their shots like a pro. When they feel truly confident, players can fire up the multiplayer component to challenge up to four friends in wi-fi networked play. Then, see who the real master is. [br][br]Madden NFL 2005 and Tiger Woods PGA TOUR are rated E for Everyone by the ESRB and will ship under the EA SPORTS(TM) brand. The Urbz: Sims in the City is rated E for Everyone by the ESRB and will released under the EA GAMES(TM) brand.

Very interesting news for the Gamecube Homebrew scene from a report on Xbox Scene [br][br] Viper GC is the world's first amateur coding module for NGC. The onboard flash memory allows users to boot Homebrew applications, loaders or BIOS'.[br]A high speed parallel port programmer is provided along with the FFC cable to connect to the Viper GC main module. An intuitive PC application has been authored to facilitate easy transfer of BIOS', loaders or Homebrew applications to the flash memory.[br]Viper Gc is based around the Actel ProAsic Plus FPGA, providing flexibility and security to ensure that the user gets the product they ordered, not a cheap clone.[br]The viper GC's tailored PC application will enable users to transfer code via their PC Parallel port to the module's flash memory.[br]We're sure that the recent Homebrew developments (like Linux) on GC will take advantage of the Viper GC's ability to run code directly from flash memory, instead of the current BroadBand Adaptor/Phantasy Star Online + Loader solution, leading to rapid development of the GC Scene.[br]The Viper GC has just 4 wires to solder and two connectors which could assume control of the lid sensor switch, should the appropriate commands be included in a third party BIOS release.[br]Viper GC is more than a BIOS replacement, it offers the unique possibility through special hardware commands, to run the original BIOS after the user's loader or Homebrew BIOS has been executed.[br]The Viper GC programmer includes a logic I.C. to increase transfer speeds and a DIP switch to enable or disable the module. We're sure that the GC scene will now explode into action with a plethora of new achievements and devlopments certain to make even those who do not have a GC currently, rush out and buy one

Nothing much to explain here, as it's all pretty obvious. There's this popular American sport called Baseball, and a popular videogame character called Mario.[br]The thinking is that if you combine the two, you'll hit a home run. Nintendo is the home of genius. Bowser just rules. Luigi sucks, but his last game was cool so that's okay. Mario can do what he likes because he's Mario, okay.[br][br]Enjoy the screenshots, while we start drawing up a wish list for unlockable characters...[br][br][br][br]Thanks to C&VG for the news.

'Nintendo' and 'online' are rarely two words you'll find together in the same sentence, not unless they contain the phrase 'not going to be', anyway. Well, alas, rejoice ye bored, bedroom-bound lonesters, for the DS looks like breaking the trend.[br]Speaking to respected Japanese games mag Famitsu recently, Nintendo's gaming messiah Shigeru Miyamoto prophetically revealed that the DS could feature online play "sooner than we all think" and that both his company and Japanese publisher Square Enix are currently collaborating on the matter.[br][br]Just think of the possibilities - Mario Kart DS races with your best mate from France; global multiplayer battles in Advance Wars DS; um...online stylus-enabled surgical operations with new-found friends in Finland (you really are taking this surgery obsession too far - Ed)... [br][br]Rumours of the DS's online intentions are not entirely new, but Miyamoto-san's revelation is the most concrete proof yet. The interview also quoted him as saying that "online gaming would become mainstream in the next three to four years, and this is the direction Nintendo would take." Exciting stuff, considering Nintendo's past reluctance to join Microsoft and Sony in the online arena.[br][br]Also disclosed in the interview was that Mario 128 was still definitely in development for the GameCube, and not the code-named Revolution follow-up as some reports had speculated. [br][br]Plus, a new GameCube Pokémon game is also in the works too, apparently with "strong allies" onboard. By that, we're assuming he means name developers as opposed to any major military force. We hope...

Honestly, it couldn't mount the tension more if it tried. Actually, it is trying isn't it? The scallywags. Anyway, at a press event yesterday, Nintendo refused to name a price and launch date for the sparkling DS handheld, but said all would finally be revealed at an early January press unveiling. Oh well. At least it did confirm it was definitely "on track" for a Q1 release. Which is comforting.[br]"I'm not going to disclose the two points you're all desperate to know - the UK price and release date," said a tight-lipped Nintendo UK boss David Yarnton, acknowledging the PSP rival as the reason behind the waylaying of information. "I can confirm, however, that we're on track for our Q1 release, and that the DS will launch with a host of great titles [Rayman DS!!!] most importantly, a competitive price." Which is also comforting.[br][br]At least we managed to get our grubby hands on an American edition of the DS, which we have to say, lives up to the hype rather impressively. Initial sales of the console in America also seem to be rather impressive too, with the manufacturer raising its annual profit and sales forecasts from 84billion Yen to 90billion Yen as a consequence. [br][br]However one analyst, speaking to the International Herald Tribune, warned: "This is the honeymoon period for the DS. Sony will take a significant and notable market share from Nintendo over the next 12 months."[br][br]We don't know which crystal ball he's been gazing into, but on the handheld score, let battle commence...

The price point and release date for the forthcoming Nintendo DS handheld console in Europe won't be unveiled until early in the New Year, according to comments made by Nintendo UK general manager David Yarnton last night.[br][br]Speaking at an event held in London to introduce the console to the media following its launch in North America, Yarnton told the assembled press to look forward to an announcement of launch details in early January.[br][br]Speculation about the price point for the DS has pegged it at around UKP 129.99, which has not been commented on by Nintendo but has attracted criticism from some quarters for being significantly more expensive than the US price point.[br][br]Software prices for the unit, meanwhile, are expected to come in at around UKP 25 at launch - significantly lower than the price of Game Boy Advance titles, and notably, also lower than any of the price points being discussed by Sony for PSP software.[br][br]In his speech last night, Yarnton acknowledged that "there's a bit more competition in the market this time around," but alluded to Nintendo's history in the handheld console market, which has seen the company successfully repelling almost ten serious challenges on its dominance of the sector. [br][br]He also couldn't resist taking a veiled swipe at the PlayStation Portable's widely reported battery life problems - commenting that not only is the Nintendo DS ideal for train journeys, but that its battery will actually last for an entire journey as well.[br][br]Nintendo DS launched in North America earlier this week, and will appear in Japan next week, with over three million pre-orders thought to have been placed by customers in those territories. The firm expects to sell through four million units of the DS by the end of its financial year in March 2005.

Shiny, shiny new technology, oh how we love thee. Yup nothing quite gets us jaded game hacks quite so excited as the advent of a fab new piece of groovy technological hardware. Suddenly we go all misty-eyed, the years fall away and we're reborn again, bright eyed and bushy tailed and panting like virgins on their wedding night as a new platform suddenly emerges.[br]Which brings us to the Nintendo DS, the new dual-screened handheld from the big N which finally went on sale in the US recently. You may have seen the pictures of freeloading US celebs last week as they eagerly clutched their new acquisition, so where in the name of all that's holy and somethings that aren't, was ours? Surely we're on the A-list in a gaming sense at least.[br][br]Well we didn't have to wait long to find out, as last night our good friends at Nintendo unleashed the US version of their new dual-screened beast to a select 'early adopter' UK audience at a swanky central London venue. You'll have already seen today's earlier story about the firming up of DS Euro release plans, but at the end of a very enjoyable do, your own correspondent managed to walk away with an actual US retail console itself, surely amongst the most coveted items on any self-respecting gamer's 'most-wanted' list this Christmas?[br][br]Touch me![br][br]Back home the box and wrapping were disposed of in an instant and there it was, simple as that, a new handheld in your...er hand and a whole new platform to explore. But in the flesh, at first at least, the DS looks relatively unremarkable on the outside given how much we've been salivating over the prospects. [br][br]Don't get us wrong, it's still a pleasing and if anything rather understated design, the colour's a reasonably tasteful silver, yet it doesn't quite have the immediate impact say a nice sparkly chrome might have. Still we should remember this is the US version, so perhaps it's been deliberately made a little vanilla and given the big N's form in this area, we can probably expect many coloured and special DS editions to come sometime in the future.[br][br]Equally the console actually feels quite heavy and solid in the hand. It's certainly not compact enough to tuck away in your back pocket and forget about, but it's something you could easily slide into the inside breast pocket of a winter overcoat. You might even be able to flatter yourself into thinking you were carrying some kind of piece, given that sudden bulge ...if, like us, you were rather sad.[br][br]In the flesh[br][br]But looks and weight count for naught in the grand scheme of things, it's what's on the inside that counts and once you open the clamshell, the true genius of Nintendo's design is revealed. Dual screens, perfectly mounted dual speakers, an ergonomic button layout for both base and shoulder buttons and a supremely comfortable control set, which works out pretty nicely for both left- and right-handed gamers (and that surely is a first). The stylus, which slides gently out from underneath feels a touch small at first, but you soon get used to it and using it to move around the setup phase which logs user name, time and date settings and even your birthday (presumably to wish you many happy returns) it quickly becomes extremely natural and highly intuitive.[br][br]Of course there's not much to see at first, since we haven't inserted any game cartridge yet, so naturally we turn to Pictochat, the DS's proprietary messaging system which utilises its wireless connectivity to hook you up with your gaming chums. Here the lower touchscreen and stylus really come into their own. You can open it up and enter one of four sixteen player local chatrooms and you can tap away at a standard keyboard set (or five non-standard variations) to rapidly send proper text messages and icons to your mates. Or of course you can simply draw pictures and hand-written words and send them over to anyone connected on your local network.[br][br]Okay somewhat predictably our first chat session with our T3 chums who live two floors up (yup it reaches through whole office floors too) was a flurry of rude messages, lewder drawings and general bad behaviour, but that's probably exactly what you'd expect from infantile games journalists. Still it'll be a lot of fun on the tube or elsewhere we'd guess as you be able to challenge or invite other players in and even download games from each other to share and play.[br][br]A Prime slice of Metroid[br][br]Okay, in terms of looks, innovation and messaging the DS had already made a more than creditable immediate impression but what about the key component of the actual games? Well, bundled with your retail US DS comes a limited demo version of Metroid Prime Hunters: First Hunt and so slotting in the small cartridge into the back of the machine (the front slot's reserved for GBA games), we prepared to engage on Samus Aram's first dual-screen foray.[br][br]Now as long standing PC fps fans, we were more than a little sceptical about how Metroid might work on a handheld. But a combination of using the stylus to perform the equivalent of mouse look, the control pad to move and the shoulder button to fire had us as almost instant converts. It takes about a minute to make sense of it all, but suddenly it feels about as natural and intuitive as breathing. If we had to pick one thing that really excited us about the DS on the first not-even 24 hours worth of play, it's the way stylus, touchscreen and button layout combine to provide a pioneering and extremely flexible new control interface. PC fps fans are going to love it and big N fans will be asking, why didn't we have touch screen years ago?[br][br]In the Metroid Prime Hunters demo there's plenty of different options to explore including Regulator (timed level attack), Survivor (pretty self-explanatory) and Morph Ball modes, but where it really comes into its own is multiplayer. Top screen is your standard first- person view, with map and of course stylus control on the bottom and in action it really does provide a very satisfying four player shooter experience. Energy weapons crackle, missiles fly, it's backed by some very decent sci-fi graphics and the control method makes a game of sheer genius as you launch double-tap jumps and rain death down on unwitting foes. An utter winner in almost every way is our verdict and now we've jousted against T3 in the three initial levels on offer, we can't wait for the full game itself to debut, so we can righteously and properly kick their sorry butts.[br][br]Game over[br][br]So not even 24 hours in and already it seems like the DS has already become a welcome and integral part of gaming's wider family. Initially you may look at it and be under- rather than overwhelmed, but probe a little deeper and you'll soon discover a platform which boasts not only a wealth of impressive handheld features, but an amazing and highly innovative control method and the prospect of some intriguing dual screen action. The DS's future already seems bright and assured and we've barely even scraped the tip of the iceberg. [br][br]We'll be bringing you more on the Nintendo DS in the very near future including a hands-on look at Super Mario 64 DS.

Japanese gaming giant Nintendo has lifted its full-year profits forecast to 90 billion Yen (660 million Euro) in light of stronger than expected demand for the Nintendo DS handheld console.[br][br]The company now expects to ship five million units of the console, which launched in the USA this week, by the end of its current financial year next March - up from prior estimates of four million.[br][br]Software sales for the system are expected to total 15 million units in the same timeframe, thanks to a line-up which includes titles from many of Nintendo's key franchises - including Mario and Pokemon.[br][br]As a result, the firm has lifted its estimates for full-year profits to 90 billion Yen (660 million Euro) from the previously projected 84 billion Yen (617 million Euro), with full year sales expected to hit 540 billion Yen (3.96 billion Euro).[br][br]The projected income figure represents a near-tripling of the firm's profit in FY 2004, when it reported net income of 33 billion Yen (242 million Euro) after announcing the first six-month loss in its history in the first half of the year.

Comments attributed to Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto in this week's Famitsu magazine indicate that the company is planning to bring its systems online within a three to four year timescale, with DS leading the way.[br][br]Miyamoto, credited as the design genius behind key Nintendo franchises including Zelda and Mario, told the magazine that online gaming will reach the mainstream within three to four years, and that Nintendo will be moving in that direction as a result.[br][br]In the current generation of console hardware, only Nintendo has shied away from providing online gaming services on their system - arguing that online play is not of interest to the majority of consumers as yet.[br][br]However, a translation of Miyamoto's comments in Famitsu which has been posted on the Internet reveals that he expects the Nintendo DS to get online games in the near future, which would lead Nintendo's movement into the online space.[br][br]DS online functionality would presumably use the system's wireless LAN capabilities to hook up to the Internet. At present, these functions can be used to communicate between DS units for wireless multiplayer or chat.[br][br]Intriguingly, Miyamoto implied that Nintendo is working with Square Enix on developing the online system for the DS. Square Enix formerly developed the PlayOnline system for the PlayStation 2, which was used as a launcher for Final Fantasy XI but had the capability to be used as a more comprehensive online gaming system.[br][br]Square Enix has confirmed that it is working on titles for the Nintendo DS, with a handheld version of its GameCube multiplayer RPG title, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, expected to launch next year. As yet the publisher hasn't commented on the possibility of this title having online functionality.[br][br]Elsewhere in the interview, Miyamoto also confirmed that a new Mario title, which is still being called Mario 128, is still in development for the GameCube - not for the company's next-generation Revolution console, as had been rumoured previously.[br][br]He also mentioned that Nintendo is working with "strong allies" to create a new Pokemon title for the Cube, but could not reveal further details of what this title would be.

This thing I have...this DS...
It has unmistakibly more potential than any other gaming machine in exsistence.
And yet I see so little,
IT NEEDS more than ever : MARIO PAINT DS
If this never happens I have officially lost hope in Nintendo
Plus. If I get a flash cart, can I run SNES Mario paint on it somehow?

News From Lik Sang [br][br] Shipping Update (November 27):[br][br]For many of you (including all of us here at Lik Sang) this was the longest week of 2004 so far. It has been 5 days (and 9 quadrillion emails) since the last shipping update, and after this slow week we expect to make much more progress during next week with the Japanese system launch.[br][br]Despite the fact that the NDS is sold out in the USA, we have been able to secure another shipment and a few more customers will receive a shipping notification still today.[br][br]Summary of this update:[br][br]• Super Mario 64 DS (US) shortage, read this if you want to avoid another delay[br]• Most remaining Special Pre-Orders shipping between December 1 to December 10[br]• Most orders received after November 13 shipping December 15 to December 25[br]• New orders temporarily suspended and re-opening after system shortage is over[br]• Shipping of games orders (US + JPN) starting next Wednesday[br]• Delayed email processing, please do not send emails currently[br]• Sneak Peek at Black Nintendo DS Version (no, we are not taking pre-orders!)[br][br]Super Mario 64 DS (US) Shortage, select Japanese Version as Second Choice[br][br]Not only did American retailers and distributors sell out the complete first Nintendo DS stock, also Super Mario 64 DS has been sold through with all the consoles. While Lik Sang expects another shipment of the US versions by next week, we recommend that you set the Japanese version as alternative in your order at the My Account page. While many of you have correctly set the Japanese system as alternative, not many have done this for the game and therefore this will most probably result in another delay or in a partial shipment, if not updated quickly.[br][br]The Japanese version of Super Mario 64 DS will be $10 more expensive than the US version (due to the much higher yen price in Japan), but should enable us to ship your system in case no US versions are available.[br][br]In order to set the alternative version, head over to your My Account page, select your order and save your new selection.[br][br]Please note that Lik Sang will still ship the US version if it happens to be in stock at the day your system is available.[br][br]Most Remaining Special Pre-Orders Shipping between December 1 to December 10[br][br]After the huge initial shortage in the US, there is some good news to announce. All remaining (confirmed) Special Pre-Orders are scheduled to ship out between December 1 and December 10. Lik Sang has confirmed shipments coming in and more stock of NDS systems allocated by now. The Japanese launch units are also expected to arrive in the same time frame after all.[br][br]If you have a pending order, please check your mailbox for an email informing you about the status of your order. All customers have been informed to avoid more delays due to the huge NDS related email traffic in Lik Sang’s mailboxes.[br][br]Orders received after November 13 shipping December 15 to December 25, late orders in January 2005[br][br]All of you who have not used Lik Sang’s Special Pre-Orders which were accepted with a “No Money Down” value of $0, will have to be patient. Orders received after November 13 are scheduled to ship between December 15 and December 25, while no guarantees can be made. Orders placed in the past few days, after the system launch, will even have to wait until January 2005.[br][br]Because it is Lik Sang’s target to ship as many systems as possible, you can rest assured that everything is done to get every single NDS that Nintendo makes available goes on an airplane same day. At this point we all can only hope that Nintendo hears our prayers and shifts into a higher gear for the manufacturing process.[br][br]All of you, who placed a pre-order after November 13 or even after release date, will find an email in their inboxes with further detail and a confirmation of the expected shipping date.[br][br]Please be patient, we are doing everything possible to speed this up.[br][br]New Orders Temporarily Suspended and Re-Opening after System Shortage is Over [br][br]As of today, November 27, Lik Sang has suspended taking any new (pre-)orders for the Nintendo DS system until further notice. Ordering will most probably be possible again after the huge global shortage of systems is over, and when Nintendo was able to ship more units to the market. This might take until January 2005.[br][br]Please feel free to sign up Lik Sang’s Product Alert, so that we can send you an email when the systems are in stock and ready to ship.[br][br]This does NOT affect any orders already received. For orders already received, please check your inbox for an email with detailed order status information.[br][br]Please note that all dealers in the USA are currently back-ordered, and EB even lists a new shipping date of January 31, 2005.[br][br]Shipping of Games Orders (US + JPN) Starting next Wednesday[br][br]If you have already placed an order for games or accessories only, you will have noticed that these orders where not processed this week. Shipping of US games, Japanese games, as well as accessories for the Nintendo DS console officially starts next Wednesday (December 1) .[br][br]Please note that due to the system and games shortages, some orders might still get delayed and will take a while to ship. Please watch shipping statuses carefully, as schedule changes are expected for such a huge system release.[br][br]Please note that this also includes some orders for games and accessories from customers who are also still waiting for their system to ship. These orders have been put on hold, and will ship in the same time frame as your system is being dispatched.[br][br]Delayed Email Processing:[br][br]Despite all the begging in Monday’s NDS Shipping Update, you guys have sent us 9 quadrillion emails asking for confirmation if your order is fine, if your NDS will ship soon, or if the UK battery chargers will work on your US or Japanese unit as well.[br][br]This has unfortunately slowed our colleagues from the customer support down, and despite all the effort, replying such emails on a case by case basis in a timely manner has become something not even remotely possible.[br][br]Some of you might not yet have received a reply to their email. We hope that this shipping update already clears some of your questions.[br][br]Sneak Peek at Black Nintendo DS Version[br][br]Here is a first sneak peek at the black Nintendo DS version. Nintendo first intended to release the Nintendo DS worldwide in different color variations, but decided to go with the silver one only for maximum production efficiency.

Hello,
I live in Australia and ive ordered a Nintendo DS from USA.
Im wondering if i can use a Australian GBA SP AC adaptor to power and charge my Nintendo DS without damageing it?
Email from Nintendo:
Nintendo Game Boy Advance SP AC Adapter was not designed for, and has not
been certified to be used with the Nintendo DS. We suggest that you only
use the Nintendo DS AC Adapter (Model No. NTR-002) when charging your
Nintendo DS system.
Has anyone else had a similar issues or has used the GBA SP AC adaptor on the Nintendo DS ?
Any suggestion greatly appreciated
Thank you for your time

According to Reuters and Mainichi Interactive, Nintendo has announced that it is raising its sales forecast for the DS to five million units for the current fiscal year ending March 31, 2005. The company has not changed its outlook for the handheld's software sales, which is holding steady at 15 million copies. [br][br][br]This will be the second time that Nintendo has raised its sales estimates for the DS. Earlier this month, Nintendo increased its forecast for the DS from 3.5 to 4 million units. The handheld has been in massive demand in Japan where preorders have reached 2 million units, double the company's initial expectations. The handheld had a successful launch in America last week, and it will be released in Japan this Thursday. [br][br]In Tokyo, Nintendo is currently holding last minute promotions in the streets of the city's commercial districts, giving passers-by a chance to try out the handheld. [br][br]Nintendo also raised its sales estimate for the Game Boy Advance from 14 million to 16 million units, of which 15 million units are the GBA SP model. [br][br]Likewise, the forecast for GBA software sales has also been raised from 70 million to 77 million units. In addition, the company revealed that its Famicom Mini series shipped a total of 4.23 units in Japan; and its latest Pokemon title, Pokemon Emerald, has sold over 1 million units. [br][br]With sales of GBA games going smoothly and the DS handheld units expected to remain in high demand throughout the next few months, Nintendo has raised its net profit estimate for FY2005 from 84 billion yen ($817 million) to 90 billion yen ($875 million), nearly triple the profit from last year. The fiscal year ends March 31, 2005.
