Shash has posted some more news of his progress with the DS Emulator DeSmuMe, heres what he posted:
I've spent the past few days working on 2D related stuff and minor fixes. Quite a few hours have been invested "only" logging and debugging some demos still not working properly, because, for example, some basic stuff seems to be still failing. Also, I've worked a bit onto getting more speed from 3D, which got a bit faster, but still needs quite a lot of work.
Today I'll talk a bit about the last one I've been working on, even if the actual implementation is more a raft from what it should be. I'm talking about the pixel blending, which can be used, for example, to cross fade from one image to another (as used in Zelda Gallery), or blending multiple images (for example, I think that's what it's used for "MP: First Hunt" menus). You can get a proper reference here. I've still to make some proper improvements, because I still don't support some effects that can be achieved with multiple source selections, for example, but I'll fix them in a few days.
Today I prefered to leave the technical details aside, as I don't really still feel confident about how the special color effects work. Anyway, here's the blend support as seen in Zelda Gallery (source, half blended, and destiny):
If building and managing cities isn't your bag, how's a theme park sound? Electronic Arts announced, according to GameFront, that they'll be releasing another port of one of their popular games, Theme Park, for the DS. There are very few details thus far on Theme Park DS, though there's word of a tentative Japanese release date in March. Some German sources are listing a similar date for Europe, but there's no word yet on any other region. As soon as we hear anything else, we'll let you know. Whether you love or hate EA (there seems to be no middle ground on that subject), it's nice to see that they're dedicating resources to the DS, since the building games seem so well suited to the stylus.
Would weapons of mass destruction seeker Hans Blix have done any better in Iraq if he had the advantage of working within a point-and-click adventure? Illicit movements across the Iranian border? Just drag your mouse over the trail and solve the brain-teasing puzzle with the help of a magnifying glass and chewing gum wrapper...
Okay, so maybe we're being overly controversial with respect to the luckless Swede, but head back in time 70-odd years to the setting of Undercover: Dual Motives, and the task is somewhat similar.
Playing as scientist Dr. John Russell, you're investigating a British research facility within which something fishy is occurring. Making full use of the DS's two screens, second playable character, secretary Audrey, will also be on hand to help out. Indeed, you'll have to coordinate their actions to solve many of the game's puzzles – control can be switched between the two instantly.
The other tricky element of Undercover is its mini-games. One that uses the DS' stylus, touchscreen and microphone has been revealed by publisher dtp. It's a paper dart blowing game that sees you blowing little darts across a laboratory to get the attention of the deaf professor who's working within. The direction of the shot is controlled by the touchscreen and stylus, while the power is calculated from the volume of your breath on the mic.
And no doubt a similar mechanic will be used later in the game, perhaps with something more lethal or soporific than paper darts, as Russell attempts to avoid the attentions of Colonel Travers and his subordinates, agents Miller and McAllistair, while accessing the facility's top secret areas.
Undercover: Dual Motives is due for release in summer 2007.
Our PSP News site has finally had a makeover using the new Network design and much better it looks for it, Check it out here --> http://psp-news.dcemu.co.uk/
The DS sells over twice as much as all the other hardware sales combined, nothing new there.
The PS3 drops its sales by near 10,000 but that is most likely because of lack of supply rather than demand.
Good news for the PSP and the PS2 near double their sales after a few weeks of declining sales.
With Dead or Alive Xtreme 2 released (selling 45k units) driving the Xbox 360 sales up to 7k, the question is how much will Blue Dragon will drive xbox 360 sales? It goes on sale on the 7 Dec.

CrocoDS is an emulator of CPC 6128 for Nintendo DS.
I bought myself a DS 2 months ago. As a developer (since almost 20 years), I am quickly buys a EZ4 lite to benefit from the homebrews.
My first computer having been a CPC, I was very disappointed not to see any emulator of this one.
After some research, I found that nrx then Alekmaul planned to create theirs it has a few months but much time did not have to devote to them.
Time, I do not have much more but I want terribly of an emulator CPC. The big problem, it is that I do not have any experience under development comforts.
I have thus to start to carry Caprice32 (best emulator CPC on PC).
After a few hours, I am to arrive has to make turn a version on my DS but with a framerate of 5fps, I am quickly disappointed: my small console is much slower than the pockets GCV to which I am accustomed. Wouldn't that be right a soft dream to emulate a CPC on a DS... However, there are Megadrive emulators which turns at full speed.
I thus will make a turn on the other sites proposing of the CPCs emulators. It is which I fall on Dream CPC. It is about the bearing of emulator WIN-CPC of Ludovic Delplanque on Dreamcast. If somebody succeeded in making turn an emulator CPC on Dreamcast, it must inevitably have average to make some turn one on DS.
I thus start again my project on the basis of the sources of WIN-CPC.
I arrive quickly at a version which turns to 30fps. I am on the good way.
After some small optimizations, the emulator turns to 90% the speed of the CPC. It is thus playable.

Here's Picodrive 0.1.6 with DSLink support (thanks to Rudolph, author of DSLink driver), compiled by me ,Save/load support works fine, confirmed by me.
When you look at the handhelds PSP, GBA and Nintendo DS you see 3 consoles that have region free gaming and they are a major success because gamers who want to play games from other regions can do so.
Then you look at the Consoles Xbox 360, Wii and PS3. Strange that Nintendo went with region encoding when they have had the massive success with the GBA and DS, Microsoft have some region free but why not all, then we go to PS3 and Sony have got this right, region free games for their console..
Isnt it time that all consoles were region free in todays small world ?
These are some text adventure interpreters I have ported to Nintendo DS; It was accomplished by first porting GLK (a library for handling Interactive Fiction) and then compiling GLK-versions of the compilers.
- Frotz
Plays new and old (Infocom) zcode format adventures. Currently the only
interpreter confirmed to handle load/save correctly.
Includes games like Zork, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy etc
- Level9
Plays old level9 adventures.
Includes Knight Orc, Snowball etc
- Magnetic
Plays Magnetic Scrolls adventures. Graphics are not handled correctly at the moment so avoid copying over the GFX-files. Includes The Pawn, Guild of Theives etc
- Nitfol
Another interpreter for zcode. Is actually more modern then FROTZ, but the GLK-versions has problems with the titlebar & fixed width window.
This is the first release and contains a few known and unknown bugs.
I will release a fixed v1.1 after feedback.
Small update:
- Support of G6. (Thank you Lord Raptor and Puyo)
- Support of the GBFS. (Thank you Alekmaul)
- Withdrawal of the demonstrations of Boulderdash, Bomb Jack and Meynaupede in order to reduce the size of the nds
- 2-3% faster.
As usual the use of the gbfs is done like this:
gbfs mesdisques.gbfs princeofpersia.dsk boulderdash.dsk bombjack.dsk
padbin 256 crocods.nds
Copy /B crocods.nds + mesdisques.gbfs crocods_gbfs.nds

The original one I released had an invisible bad bug in it that made almost all cells die unless you drew really slowly. This one fixes that and adds some more features described in readme.txt which I'll quote.
DSlife follows the same rules as Conway's Life. It comes in three versions: 32, 64, and 256. These numbers are the width of the array of cells in the game of life.
DSlife_256: 256x192 cells, each cell is 1x1 pixel
DSlife_64: 64x48 cells, each cell is 4x4 pixels
DSlife_32: 32x24 cells, each cell is 8x8 pixels (most accurate for creating life patterns)
With DSlife_256, you can draw on the screen to create life, but the only way of erasing life is to clear the whole screen. With DSlife_64 and DSlife_32, you tap the screen to create 1 life cell at a time, or, if the cell already has life on it, erase that life.
Menu:
Start simulation - Starts the life simulation after you have drawn life on the screen
Clear screen - Destroys all life making the screen white
Speed - Changes the speed ranging from 0 to 9. 0 being the slowest, 9 being as fast as the DS can go. (Which isn't too fast )
Rules - Changes the rules of life. There are 10 preset rules, the default being normal life (23/3).
Save to... - Saves the speed and rules and life array currently being shown on the bottom screen to a file on the root of the card (DSlife_32.life, DSlife_64.life, or DSlife_256.life). If they don't exist DSlife will create them. You can only save one at a time. To edit them on the computer, open them in a text editor and from line 2 to the end of the file is the life array. 0's are dead (white) and 1's are alive (black).
Load from... - Loads the speed and rules and life array from a file (DSlife_32.life, DSlife_64.life, or DSlife_256.life) on the root of the card.
All of the menu options are selected or toggled using the A button.
In this directory there are DSlife_*.life savefiles that you can put in your root directory:
Since step badly of time, I wanted to give me to code with PALib (which I had temporarily given up with the detriment of OSLib de Brunni on PSP).
Today, it is thing ridge! I thus present my new project to you: Bloops DS
It is one pêle-mixes with various plays flash which I could exploit the Net (I took as a starting point the play GLOOPS for the GFX, and by various other plays for the decorations).
The goal of the play is to destroy a maximum of Bloops in order to prevent that they reach the top of the screen.
The more you are far in the play, the more new Bloops arrive quickly by bottom.
History:
03/12/2006
- Setting on line of version 0.1 of BlOOps DS (version beta)
How to play:
The play is played Stylet entierrement.
To destroy Bloops, you must touch a group from at least 2 of the same color.
It is impossible to destroy them when a new line of Bloops is being formed.
To put the play in Pause: START
To activate/decontaminate the music: BUTTON B
Other information:
The play is far from being perfect, there remain to me several things with règler or to improve (I have to begin the project it has only approximately 10 days there).
As you can note it, there is no noise, but that a basic music: it is because I currently meet a bug when I use a file MOD and a file RAW simultaneously (I would carry out new tests in the next days).

Sales info leaked from chart-track from a few weeks ago, show a snapshot of the current hardware sales trends in the UK. Like the rest of the world the DS dominates but the original DS is still selling well, were as in the US and Japan, most people opt for the Lite version. The good news for Sony is that the PS seems to be holding its own relative to other hardware sales, and don't seem to have the problems PSP has been having in japan, sales wise.
It also seems that the Gamecube is all but dead, after major chains like GAME have been clearing there stock the last few months, making way for the Wii.
Good news for MS as the Xbox 360, beats the PS2 into second place, remember it will be at least another 3 months till the PS3 arrives here. Xbox 360 sales were most likely boosted by Gears of War which had just launched that week.
We've spent the last few weeks hammering the awesome Age Of Empires on DS. And with the touch screen, strategy games are a no-brainer on Nintendo's handheld. We just need a lot more.
Firaxis' Sid Meier has come to the rescue. While not confirming a DS version of click-'em-up Civ is in the pipeline, he recently told Gamespot "If we can deliver a fun experience to the players on the DS, then we'll do it. We're still in the exploratory mode."
Other console could also be getting the Civ treatment: "I think the latest consoles have the processing power to deliver fun experiences with the bigger strategy games," added Meier.
Another classic heads for Nintendo DS - and it's looking rather good
2 CommentsFreshly offloaded from EA's screenshot rollercoaster are these first Theme Park DS screenshots, which show a rather impressive-looking port of the classic PC strategy game.
Following Sim City DS and the recently-revealed Sims Wii, Theme Park DS is apparently the next title to come from EA's increasingly prolific Japanese arm.
Details are scarce at the moment, except that we can expect the game to hit the Far East in March next year.
We're already looking forward to trapping innocent consumers in our Theme Park mazes once more. We'll let you know when any hard-line gameplay info reaches our ears.

Decorating your console has become an interesting new trend for handheld and console gaming. From Xbox 360 face plates to custom-designed PSPs, everyone is getting in on the action. Now Canadian DS owners can add their own special touch, and this one won't cost a sack-full of cash.
Future Shop, a Canadian retailer, is now offering an 18 karat gold Nintendo DS stylus. For $19.99 Canadian ($17.44 US at current rates) DS gamers can play with a gold stylus to go with their crystal case. As an added bonus, the stylus is billed to improve functionality through improved balance.
It is nice to see a cosmetic addition that actually impacts the gameplay experience. Now DS owners can get the full experience of a customized DS system, not just a diamond covered clam shell with a stock white stylus. Any Canadians out there planning on picking up this 18k beauty?

You can expect all the floating, jumping and battling of a classic Kirby game, but this time, Kirby’s copy abilities have been massively boosted. Not only can you mix and match copy abilities by using the stylus to drag them together inside Kirby's belly (located on the touch screen), but the powers themselves now have the ability to affect the environment, as well as foes. For example, you can burn trees and grasses with the Fire ability, or freeze water with the Ice ability.
In sub-game mode, Kirby: Squeak Squad also features multiplayer fun for up to four players, using either Multi-Card or DS Download Play over DS Local Area Network.

As a gaming community we like to help others and today we may have the chance to help someone suffering from Cancer, heres the details posted at Gamertag radio forums
I got an email from my friends at Gamercast Network. A member from the forums needs your help to donate Nintendo DS Games for a Cancer Patient. There are looking for more people to donate. Here is a picture of her thanking GCN!
If you would like to help please read:
Hey gang,
I may not have been around the forums long enough to warrant this request, so no one will blame you for ignoring me on this one.
For the past 3 years I have worked with Texas Children's Cancer Center, the largest pediatric cancer and hematology center in the United States. As a result of our radiothon efforts we've raised about 1.5 million dollars for pediatric cancer research since December, 2004. As a result of my work there, I have gotten to know lots of really amazing kids. Some of them go on to live full lives... others fall this terrible disease.
2 years ago I met Tori, a young lady fighting Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.... In layman's terms... blood cancer.
At the time, Tori had already beaten this terrible disease when she was 8 years old. But then, just shy of 13, she relapsed. When a leukemia patient relapses, it means it's time for a Bone Marrow Transplant. Basically they give the child HUGE amounts of chemo and radiation to kill their existing (flawed) bone marrow. Then a donor (healthy) marrow is introduced. If all goes as planned, the donor marrow will take over (engraft) and the leukemia will be gone forever.
The side effect of blasting their bone marrow is an EXTREME vulnerability to viruses and germs, since the immune system is literally non existent.
So to protect against that, the child must spend upwards of 100 straight days in the hospital... Tori is about to embark on this journey... Which is why I am writing to gamers about this. Yesterday, I asked Tori's mom (Jo Ellen) what Tori likes to do in between the medicines and radiation treatments. She told me that Tori is GLUED to her NINTENDO DS.
So I'd throw this out to any of you who might have a Nintendo DS with games you beaten or don't play any more. Perhaps you would consider giving them to a very amazing young lady who's going thru something that no child should endure.
If you have any games you'd like to donate to Tori, please send them to me, and I will deliver them to her mom before they start their 100 days of utter isolation.
I would really appreciate it if you might possibly be able to include something about this little project on Tori's behalf on your next podcast if you think it would fit. If not, no worries.
We've been waiting for this one a long, long time. And, finally, it has arrived. Arrived and been well-received by the critics. Taking over as two heroes in Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin, Jonathan Morris the vampire hunter and Charlotte Orlean, his magical sidekick, this latest adventure takes place during World War II. Of course, Dracula comes back into the picture and the ever-familiar conflict once again presents itself. The difference this time around, according to the game's critics, is that the adventure is the best the franchise has ever seen, presenting new gameplay mechanics and touch-screen interaction that lacks that gimmicky feel it did in Dawn of Sorrow.
GamePro - 90%: "A game that not only reaffirms the series' greatness, but is easily one of the best handheld games released this year."
Game Informer - 93%: "Putting two characters in the player's hands proves to be an ingenious way of expanding on Castlevania's bread-and-butter action. It's been done before, but Portrait of Ruin's system is particularly smooth in execution."
Nintendo Power - 90%: "Portrait of Ruin provides a whole lot more of a very good thing, and Castlevania fans won't be disappointed with the results." [Jan. 2007, p.114]
ttursas has again updated his homebrew game for the DS, heres whats new:
Here's what's new in v0.1.8:
* All the players are shown as online when they login to the server, not only after a match begins.
* After respawning, and at the start of a network match, the plane is invulnerable for five
seconds, unless the player starts firing.
* The plane doesn't move after respawning until the camera has reached it.
* If a player timeouts, but manages to recieve the timeout notice, his plane doesn't vanish.
* Changed the button configuration: Now there are two weapon buttons, one for the
machine gun and one for the special weapon. The third weapon button now changes the special weapon.
* Adjusted the gravity, made turbo boost faster, made turning faster while turbo boosting,
turbo boost eats 50% more gas.
* Plane to plane collisions do now less damage.
* Dropped the initial network send frameskip to 3, the optimizations seem to allow this
(or is it my new ZyXEL P660HW-D1 ADSL2+ router?).
* Once again the bullets are reset when a network match begins.
* Added hidden debug menu screen (press spot X on the credits screen).
* When starting the server you must specify the client timeout.
* Each plane has now its own collision region.
* Added new HUD graphics. Also the selected special weapon and the remaining bullets
are displayed on the HUD.
...
This version really doesn't bring that much new, but lots of tweaks to make the game
more playable. In v0.1.9 we might have that improved AI, real level data from the editor,
more tweaks, and etc...

Wow. Over two weeks without a blog entry and not a thing to show for it.
As you’ve probably realised, i’ve taken a break from SpeccyDS for a bit. Due to personal and work-related buisness I haven’t touched the source code since I released v0.2. I’m hoping to get back into it in the next week or so and, as always, I will keep the blog updated with my progress.
I have some ideas about what to include in the new version (including the new G6 fat driver. Thanks Kasimir2007, you can stop spamming my blog now ), but first off will have to be a re-write of the GUI code. During the rush to get v0.2 out with the save snapshot screen, I destroyed pretty much all of the object orientated design of the GUI. I’m going to sit down with a pen and paper and draw out a nice little diagram to get it back into a more manageable state.
There are also quite a few entries on the compatibility list that need looking at. The .Z80 snapshot reset problem may be due to SpeccyDS ignoring certain types of .Z80 file, but i’m going to have to look into it further to be sure.
We used to love those old Fighting Fantasy choose your own adventure books. And like everyone else, we always cheating by keeping our fingers on the previous page we were on before seeing if we were about to fall to our deaths or get eaten by a giant scorpion.
Ian Livingstone said, "Fighting Fantasy built up a huge, worldwide fan base over the years (I was one - Ed!). We believe that players will really enjoy the adventures in a new way on DS and PSP. Fighting Fantasy's interactive structure is ideal for bite-sized chunks of gameplay which is important for these devices."
Co-creator Steve Jackson added, "We're convinced that innovative handheld versions will challenge and entertain a whole new generation of gamers - as well as existing fans - and will form the basis of a new portable gaming franchise."
The right development and publishing partners are currently being searched out. More soon.
Square Enix has confirmed that its DS remake of Final Fantasy III will be heading to Europe in spring 2007.
It will be the first time that European RPG fans have had a chance to play the third Final Fantasy instalment, which was originally released for the Famicom (Nes) in Japan a whopping 17 years ago.
The Nintendo DS revamp sees a complete 3D overhall of the game - which looks impressive even for the DS. Sqaure Enix has also incorporated the touch screen into gameplay somewhat, using it for spell casting, combat and exploration of the many dungeons.
We're currently hammering away on the US version, and we can confirm that RPG fans should be very excited for FFIII's long-overdue arrival. Look out for our review sometime in the run-up to release.
Bookmaker Paddy Power has predicted that EA's Need for Speed will top the all-formats software chart for the third year running this Christmas.
NFS: Carbon is the favourite with odds of 8/13, followed by fellow EA title FIFA 07 at 4 to 1. NFS: Most Wanted took the number one spot last year, while NFS: Underground 2 achieved the same feat in 2004.
Hit Xbox 360 shooter Gears of War has been given odds of 10 to 1, along with Rainbow Six: Vegas and Vivendi's new movie tie-in, Eragon.
Also in the running are Tony Hawk's Project 8, Superman Returns, Call of Duty 3 and the latest instalment in the WWE Smackdown vs. Raw series, plus family-oriented titles Bratz: Forever Diamonds and Happy Feet at 80 to 1. The full list of odds is available at PaddyPower.com.
"Need for Speed is the game to beat every year and this year it's no different," said Paddy Power's Sharon McHugh.
"There are some great games out there - FIFA 07 is proving to be very popular with enhanced features that have made it go straight to No.1 in the charts. Gears of War has also been hailed as one of the best games this year, but the fact it's only available on the Xbox 360 means it won't be able to compete with Need for Speed."
ELSPA MD Mike Rawlinson said Christmas 2006 is likely to be "another great year" for videogames, adding, "There are lots of strong competitors as always and it is impossible to tell if the favourite will make it or be pipped to the post last minute. There is a great selection of games that will appeal to various age groups and styles of gameplay to battle it out."
Meme or not, the DS does print money. As soon as Nintendo makes the handhelds, they are snapped up and devoured by Japanese people. And the Wii appears poised for much of the same. The handheld is such a juggernaut that some analysts worry it will actually directly compete with the Wii. Talking to Reuters, Nintendo chief Satoru Iwata pointed out:
Some analysts say the largest rival of the Wii is the DS. But if you take a look at DS sales in the United States in the Thanksgiving week, or DS sales in Japan in the week of the Wii launch, there has been little impact.
The only impact felt was in the Nintendo coffers. Ka-ching!
Maker of all things kawaii Sanrio has announced cuter than cute Hello Kitty and Charmmy Kitty decoration film for the DS Lite. The price is listed as open, but the Sanrio online shop is selling each sheet for 680 yen (US $5.90). Should go over big with little girls and Kotaku editors with pink DS Lites.

The Wii's strong debut has been wellspring of recent good news for Nintendo, most recently with a near-sellout in Japan. However, some analysts felt that the "new-gen" console's success would come at the expense of the Mario factory's bestselling DS handheld. The logic was that, consumes with limited budgets would have to choose between the two this holiday season.
Such worries do not apparently weigh on the brow of Satoru Iwata, Nintendo's president. "Some analysts say the largest rival of the Wii is the DS," he told the Reuters news service. "But if you take a look at DS sales in the United States in the Thanksgiving week or DS sales in Japan in the week of the Wii launch, there has been little impact."
By the end of its fiscal year on March 31, 2007, Nintendo now believes it will have sold 6 million Wiis and 20 million combined units of the DS and DS Lite. It currently predicts its annual profit will total 145 billion yen (around $1.26 billion), an increase of over 60 percent, with annual sales rising 45 percent to 740 billion yen (approx. $6.44 billion).
Iwata told Reuters that he believes there's a chance that Nintendo will top its already rosy outlook. "'Confidence' could be too strong a word, but there is an emerging possibility," said Iwata regarding Nintendo beating its forecast. "We had come up with the current earnings forecasts before we sold even a single unit of the Wii and when we were not so sure about the cannibalization effect between the Wii and the DS."

Nintendo is holding one hell of a contest over the next 90 days (which began yesterday) where, each day, one lucky winner will be gifted with a DS Lite, DS game of their choice, as well as a GBA game of their choice. Obviously, the sweepstakes have some rules you're going to need to follow, so it's in your best interest to give them a read. Also, it should be noted that they do not specify which color DS Lite unit each winner will receive, however the contest graphic depicts the Onyx model.
While Electronic Arts' Japanese studio is hard at work bringing Sim City to the touch screen handheld system and toonifying Sims for the Wii, it is also working on a port of another popular EA franchise: Theme Park. The company made the announcement in Japan that the Bullfrog-created strategy game is being reproduced and retooled on the Nintendo DS for a spring release.
Theme Park puts players in control of, obviously, their own amusement park. The game will give players the ability to lay out their creation and manage the economics of it all to keep things running. Players can adjust the ticket and concession prices to keep attendees happy while raking in the bucks, and earned money can then be converted into liquid funds that can be spent on bigger and better attractions. The touch screen should make things easy to navigate in the game design as the original version of Theme Park was made for mouse control.
Previous console ports of the design had "Sim" attached to the branding, but according to the official release it seems as if Theme Park will be reverting to its original namesake on the Nintendo DS. The game will indeed be released in the US according to sources within Electronic Arts, and it's expected that the Spring 2007 release window will apply to the North American release of Theme Park as well.
Next week Destineer will be making its Nintendo DS debut with an action game based upon the popular anime Fullmetal Alchemist. We've put a bit of time in the near final build of the game, and if you're into the whole Double Dragon-style brawler design you might want to keep an eye out for this game when it ships on December 14th.
The first thing you'll notice about the Dual Sympathy is the attention to presenting the series -- it's definitely aimed at fans as the developer has worked the character voices from the series directly into the menu system and certain portions of the game. You can even customize the game selection menu with specific character themes and have those options spoken by the actual character actor. Edward, Alphonse, Mustang, Winry, and Armstrong are represented here, announcing which item you've selected in the menu. It's a nice touch.
The game itself follows a nice feel of the series, segmenting the levels into "episodes" that follows a specific story arc for the Dual Sympathy tale -- we're not huge followers of Fullmetal Alchemist so we can't say for sure if the game accurately follows specific events from certain episodes or if this is an all-new script that makes references to past episode events. The story is told through talking head text windows, with the occasional sound bite leaking through the speakers.
The gameplay is essentially a really tight Double Dragon or River City Ransom design where players wander from left to right, or right to left, kicking and punching their way through the near endless assault of enemies. The game follows the two main characters, Edward and Alphonse, with Edward playable and Alphonse computer controlled at certain points of the game. Control is extremely tight and responsive, and enables players to select and pull off certain attacks via the lower screen's touch screen function.
Outside of the brawler gameplay is a selection of minigames that utilize the touch screen of the Nintendo DS. You'll arm wrestle, whack a homunculis, doodle over Fullmetal Alchemist artwork, and outrun a gigantic rolling rock like Indiana Jones. These are unlockable through the main game, so you'll need to prove your worth in the brawler before you can take part in these extras.
The battle over modchips rages on in Australia, heres the news from aussie it
GAMES console makers such as Sony Computer Entertainment and Microsoft may need to re-engineer anti-piracy technology in consoles made for the Australian market to stop consumers using illegal game titles, according to law firm Minter Ellison.
Amendments to Australia's copyright laws expected to be passed this week will make it legal for consumers to use modified chips (mod-chips) that circumvent anti-piracy technology built into game consoles if they also overcome measures that restrict the use of DVDs and games titles purchased legally in other regions.
Minter Ellison special counsel Carolyn Dalton said technology measures designed to restrict use of copyright material in geographic regions, including coding built into DVD players and games consoles, won't be given special protection under the law.
Games manufacturers will need to have technology in their consoles to deal with region coding and copyright protection that operate independently.
"I think people are just going to have to sit down and think about manufacturing standards," Ms Dalton said.
Sony lost a High Court battle to outlaw mod-chips in Australia in October 2005.
The hearing ended a three-year battle against backyard mod-chip supplier Eddy Stevens, which reached the full bench of the Federal Court.
Sony asked the court to interpret parts of Copyright Act dealing with technological prevention measures to include access control measures in its consoles, thereby outlawing the use of mod-chips Mr Stevens was selling.
The federal Government was expected to amend provisions of the Copyright Act dealing with TPMs to make mod-chips illegal as part of its obligations under its Free Trade Agreement with the US.
However, Minter Ellison said, changes to the law incorporated in the Copyright Amendment Bill 2006 and presented to the Senate in October only outlaw chips in cases where they have the sole purpose of overcoming anti-piracy technology.
Attorney General Phillip Ruddock rejected recommendations by the Senate's standing committee on legal constitutional affairs that the Bill's wording be amended to outlaw the chips that overcome region coding.
Sony declined the opportunity to comment on the new laws when contacted late yesterday.
The Australian computer games industry's peak representative body, the Interactive Gaming Association of Australia, was unable to comment on the new laws in time for publication.
Been a while since we heard anything from the C&C DS Clone project, but today we have some news:
Like some of you have guessed my real job is taking up lots of time still, I'm working on the online code at work and we have another deadline coming up soon.. but I did start to work on the code again the other day and have still not managed to get over my problems with the fat system not initialising properly. I'm sure it's just a version mismatch of some kind. I need to get on the gbadev forums and check out what's going on and then hopefully I can carry on again.
The level editor was sort of put on hold until I got the main game going again so I could test the levels were being created properly.
Anyway some good news is that I have a month off over xmas so no doubt I'll be able to find plenty of time to work on this, and I'll also have the net again, so hoorah's all round
The DS Motion Card is a revolutionary motion sensor for the DS and DS Lite handheld gaming systems. It contains a 3-axis accelerometer and a single-axis gyroscope, and plugs into the DS card slot to enable full motion sensing on the DS and the DS lite.
It is the first tri-axis accelerometer that can be used for homebrew DS development, and the first and only accelerometer/gyroscope combination available for handheld gaming.
How it Works
The DS Motion Card contains a Kionix tri-axis accelerometer and single-axis gyroscope that communicate with the DS using SPI (Serial Peripheral Interface) on the DS card.
The accelerometer measures acceleration in all directions (both gravitational acceleration and acceleration caused by a change in velocity). The gyroscope measures angular rotation rate (speed of rotation) around an axis perpendicular to the bottom screen of the DS.
Custom software turns the sensors on, reads the accelerations and angular rate, and controls the display based on the sensor readings. Functions to communicate with the sensors have already been written and are simple to integrate into any existing or new projects.
How to get one
The DS Motion Card is now available for preorder from dspassme.com.
What it can be used for
There are many uses for the DS Motion Card
Tilt Sensing
Motion Sensing
Twist Sensing
Gesture Recognition
Possibilities are endless
Games or applications can easily be written or modified to work with DS Motion Card, using the C code that is available from this website.
To use games with the DS Motion Card, you need to be able to run homebrew on your DS. See Dev-Scene.com for details. If you are using FlashMe, just plug the DS Motion Card into the DS card slot (slot-1) and plug your media cartidge in the GBA slot (slot-2). If you are using a Passthrough device, boot the DS with the Passthrough device, then remove the Passthrough device and insert the DS Motion Card. There are currently no emulators that support the DS Motion Sensor.
Konami is bringing the world of Yu-Gi-Oh! GX to the Nintendo DS in February, in the form of Yu-Gi-Oh: Spirit Caller.
Yu-Gi-Oh! GX's first appearance on the DS, Spirit Caller allocates players a room in the Duel Academy's Obelisk Dormitory, where the beginner duelists are housed. There, players encounter the Spirits of the Cards who make nice and accompany them at all times. Spirits will join players for card battles against the school's best duelists.
Yu-Gi-Oh! GX: Spirit Caller makes a few changes to the gameplay that was established in Yu-Gi-Oh! Nightmare Troubadour on the DS. Konami sped up the dueling system making for a faster game. The player's spirit guide will offer advice for school life and will play an integral part in the game's plot. A character edit menu allows players to create an onscreen likeness of themselves.
As Yu-Gi-Oh! is a Trading Card Game, players can dual against each other in one-on-one bouts courtesy of the Wi-Fi connection and can take on duelists anywhere in the world via a dedicated server.
Namco Bandai has announced Trioncube, a new puzzle game for the Nintendo DS. The game tasks players with rescuing a kidnapped princess from the protagonist's arch enemy, Hell Metal.
Player will embark on a journey across eight planets into the depths of space. As the captain of the space ship Penko, players will reach their goal by creating a Trioncube -- a series of 3x3 blocks which start a chain reaction to refuel the ship. The good captain must create as big a chain as he can before time runs out and the Trioncube is broken. The bigger the chain he makes, the farther distance his ship travels.
With four gameplay modes (Arcade, Story, Endless, and Vs), Namco Bandai hopes Trioncube will provide many an hour of fun for even the most seasoned puzzlers. Unlike typical block-based puzzle games where players try to quickly erase as many blocks as possible, Trioncube challenges players to create the ultimate 3x3 chain. As they progress through the game, players will have to use different strategies to deal with new shapes. Coins can be collected to purchase various Effects and Arts -- like sushi rolls, dogs, and tambourines -- as they travel the galaxy in the Penko.
Trioncube is scheduled for release throughout North America in February 2007.
Well the Xmas rush has arrived! The NPD Group has just released its video game sales data for the month of November.
The big winner is the DS, with an increase over sales over 1/2 Million, that brings the install base of 8.1 million in the U.S. alone. The shocking news is, the GBA, which seemed to be dieing out to make way for the DS and PSP has had a huge increase in sales. The PSP seems to be losing the Hand-held war with Nintendo, considering the higher price, the PSP is not doing that bad.
In the Consoles sales its the PS2 leading the charge, showing the new comers hows its done. While the Xbox 360 moves up a Gear having its best month since its launch (which was 330,000), but needs to do better if its wants to meet the 10 million units sold world wide before the end of the year. The good News for MS, the original Xbox took 13 months to sell 3.57 million units in the US, while the Xbox 360 is now at the 3.8 million mark (after 12 months).
After Sony's promise of 400,000 PS3 for the US launch, it looks like they only got just under 200,000 units to the shops. As expected the Wii had the best launch of all 3 next gen consoles, but its if just the first hurdle in a very long race.

If you found yourself drooling over the Swarovski crystal covered pink DS Lite designed by Paris Hilton we posted a few weeks back, then not only is their something wrong with you, but there is also a spark of hope, as one is now up for auction on eBay UK. I am assuming the seller simply had too much taste to keep the item for himself.
He also mentions that only 20 of these were made, a fact that I cannot seem to back up from any source. Everyone knew it was limited edition, but only 20? For an item this spectacularly fabulous? Come on. There's gotta be a warehouse full of these somewhere, and that warehouse needs to be bombed.
I do like how it comes with spare crystals and a glue kit, as if they expect someone to actually play this monstrosity and not lock it in a vault deep underground somewhere so it never hurts anyone again. The auction starts at approximately $670, with a buyout of $1465, depending on which conversion rates you believe. A small price to pay to save humanity from shiny pink doom.

You will need the data files from the PC DOS version of the game. Copy the Flashback files to X:\data\flashback\data\ , replace X: with the drive letter of your DS media device.
To hear music, you need the mod.* files from the Amiga version. They should be named like mod.flashback-introb , without a .mod extension.
It should work on M3CF (tested), GBAMP and Supercard. Backup anything important before using any homebrew that writes to your media device. I haven't had any file corruption but I haven't tested every device and backups are always a good idea.
DS controls:

d-pad move Conrad
A draw/holster gun
B talk / use / run / shoot
X use the current inventory object
Y display the inventory / skip movies
L display the options

High automatic jump, run then release direction arrow
What the blurry image above is showing you is yet another mod for the DS Lite. Gamer Grandpasmurf found a tutorial on AcidMods that helped him put blue LED lights underneath transparent buttons that he purchased on NDS-Central. To demonstrate their glowing power, he filmed himself playing Final Fantasy III. They seem to work great and no real damage was done to his DS. Call it the angle of the camera, but we find these a little too bright for our taste.
Kirby has a wide array of powers, among them the little known aura that inspires complete adoration. Who could look upon the puff and not smile? In that, most of us agree. But there's something that no one can agree on when it comes to the newly released Kirby: Squeak Squad -- and that's the difficulty of the game. Sure, reviewers may be extolling Kirby's virtues, but the list of virtues is not quite the same from one write-up to another.
Yahoo! Games - 70%: In terms of difficulty, this is one of the easier platformers on the DS ...This game definitely catered to the less patient and less experienced DS owners. Mini-games are another beloved aspect of Kirby titles, but Squeak Squad's are disappointing: Play a variation on bumper cars, engage in speed eating, or avoid bombs in a treasure hunt. Even the prospect of multiplayer competitions can't add much longevity to these quickly cast-aside diversions.
Cubed3 - 90%: ...people oft complain that Kirby's adventures are far too easy, thus do not manage to scale the heights of Mario's platform games. They generally point out that it is especially due to the fact that he can inhale fresh air and then just float along at the top of the screen until the end of a level. However, this really is not the case with Squeak Squad as the levels are extremely intricate, housing so many secrets that it is practically impossible to find them all on your first play through. There are eight worlds in total, broken down into separate levels, with a final boss at the end of each one. Altogether there are 37 stages, seven hidden ones and eight boss battles. The main stages and boss battles alone should be enough to keep the average gamer happy, but thankfully for those Kirby masters out there, much more is added on top of this to make the package truly complete.
GamePro - 80%: The only thing we didn't like about Squeak Squad is that it's a tad on the easy side. To say that it's forgiving is an understatement. Food, which replenishes your health, is readily available and the bosses don't put up much of a challenge. Also, the cartoonish visual style might turn off more mature gamers who like their games to have a little hair on their chests. But there is no denying the ineffable charm of this title and gamers looking to give their DS a workout should gobble this one up like it was made of sweet, sweet candy.
The interesting “thing” about posting “news” is the expectation that is inevitably incurred or assumed or created from the “news” post. In the past dealing with situations that require some sort of feedback, has always led to more situations requiring more intense and frequent feedback. You see this not only in smaller business such as Ds-X but in some of the largest corporations out there today. Many of the larger companies simply choose to ignore or stay silent, and in some ways I can see why, but is this the correct move ? In the recent days there has been some interesting debates in our internal structure with respect to what we should and should not say, especially in times of high anticipation and stress. Personally I am very much in two minds, every time we have said something either formally here or informally in our forums/support system, it has ended up in simply creating more anticipation and more situations. I guess the heart of the problem stems from not being able to give hard facts and figures, in the time frame expected by the general public. Why not ? Simple, we are all human, and in every aspect of a business we deal with multiple humans, people like you and me, all of which have their way of working and your own way of thinking.
Production Delays.
Since I have covered a lot of this in both our support system and forums, I will briefly highlight the situation here. In order to eliminate/reduce the plastic mold quality issue we experienced in a very small % of the initial units shipped, we made some changes to quality control in our supply chain. These changes we though would be actioned quickly and cost very little in terms of delays, as it turned out we were very wrong ! . The changes resulted in some major confusion with customs and the final assembly plant in China. Long story short, we ended up in a situation with 0 production for about 1 month. Yeah, for those of you who are in the industry and know what time of year and how recent our launch is .. that’s a very big OUCH. This panic month is now over and things are back on track.
Universal updater:
This is probably the most heated internal debate. The reason for delay: Perfectionism . The temporary win32 release posted below, was an internal compromise. Technically we could have released a universal updater that would have done the job for the 1.0.2 update. However it would have needed an update to do any further updates. Hence the debate. Release a half done incomplete universal updater, that would need to be updated the very next release, or delay. Now comes the interesting part of this post:
The Ds-Xtreme: What is it that makes this product so unique, and at the same time so complicated and difficult to fully grasp.
Well the answers lie in the same “Perfectionism” that was mentioned above. From concept we set some very tough to meet goals. The toughest of all was the integrated hardware design. From our very fist announcement we advertised a key feature that I think very few (if any) of our users have caught on to. I think the quote was “ Fully updatable hardware” to explain this I need to get into some technical insight of the DS-Xtreme design, so here goes.
What’s inside that tiny package. ?
The DS-Xtreme is made up of multiple levels of integrated systems. From a distant view it’s a piece of hardware running some software. Bring on the magnifying glass and it becomes a lot more. There are 3 main parts to the design each very much individually updatable and reconfigurable.
THE DS-Xtreme OS
The most obvious and the only part updated so far is our DS side operating system, this is by far the most complicated and advanced operating system put together for any such device to date. The heart of the OS is the skinning engine. No other device available can offer anything near what the DS-Xtreme OS offers currently. While we hopped this would be taken advantage of from day one, it seems we need to incentivise this avenue more in order to prove just what exactly can be done with this unique and highly advanced skinning engine. (more about this incentive later) While the OS is critical to the correct operation and seamless integration of the complete package, it is only part of the design.
THE onboard CPU
Running internally at 48Mhz , with exceptionally low power consumption there is a tiny CPU running our customized firmware. This little beast is currently in charge of USB and basic memory management.
THE FPGA
Field Programmable Gate Array. What is this ? Well this ingenious piece of hardware is the sole reason devices such as this as well as many other integrated electronics exist today. In a very basic nutshell this is a device that can be programmed to become almost any configuration of electronics or logic in hardware. It is extremely fast, and very flexible. Today you can have it to handle communication and encryption routines, tomorrow you can have it take care of memory management and complex audio decoding. Its limitations are very much based on the physical size of the internal fabric. An interesting side note: At time of launch we were only using a little over 50% of the available fabric, and that’s with very little optimization. We could have easily opted to go for half the cost of the FPGA and put a device half the size.
Now comes the original statement “ fully upgradeable “ .. One of the requirements was that we leave the door open to be able to completely reprogram each subsection, including the FPGA. Take a quick look at most designs out there, very few if any allow their FPGA to be updated, there are many reasons for this, most stemming from security of IP. We opted to go against the grain and take the route that best benefited our customers and not ourselves. The reason? Simple, we in this for the long haul, the Ds-Xtreme is still a baby, barely able to crawl, its has a lot yet to offer , and in the coming year or so, we hope to prove this. Yes right now its core features are amazing and ground breaking, but in six months when other devices hit the market, we want our customers who have paid good money for their device to feel that they have invested in us and our design , not just spent some hard earned cash on a disposable unit. Yes we will have multiple products, but NO we will not let our “older” designs die off in just a few months with lack of support or updates. We will strive to prove that contrary to today’s “norm” for consumer devices, there is still a way to roll out new hardware and keep old hardware updated and running with the latest features and benefits. We don’t believe it’s fair to doll up a device sell it as is, and then make a simple software change and bring out a new “updated” device. This obviously stands true for what is physically possible with the hardware present.
To wrap up the FPGA talk, picture this, the FPGA device sitting inside your DS Xtreme has enough “room” to fit a complete ARM9 core and can be clocked at over 300Mhz !. While we would never venture into such an extreme implementation ( simply cause there is no room left over for anything else J) it does go to show just how much power is locked inside that tiny package. Yes ! by simply plugging your DS-Xtreme into your PC and performing a complete update we could re-program your device into something completely different . With a click of a button its even possible to completely implement one of the most popular and state of the art cpu architectures out there today. (and run it at 10 times the speed your ds is running at ;-) ) So the doors are open. Our challenge is massive, but we believe in our concept and we will succeed to make each and every one of our customers proud to own our design and be part of our belief.
Together with our skilled and talented staff, and more importantly the skill and brilliant talent of the open source community, we all have a lot to look forward to. In an effort to spear head the development and support for the DS-Xtreme, we have allocated the first sample units to the many interested parties who have shown their talent in the development scene.
For the thousands of you who are currently having fun with the DS-Xtreme, how about some experimentation with the skinning engine? Yes I know a lot has to do with us dragging our feet in releasing the skin preview app. (again that damn perfectionism ! ) but its perfectly safe to mess with the skin in the default folder. Worst case you simply remove the folder and the internal backup copy will take effect ;-)

A recent survey titled "Customer Focus Tech Savvy" reveals the determining factors in where some elusive demographics choose to buy videogames. The demographics in question are Generation Y females, parents, and "adults." The survey considers you part of Generation Y if you were born between 1977 and 1994.
Possibly because it would have been an overwhelming reason for each demographic, price was excluded as a determining factor. Generation Y females listed "special offers like free items or discounts" as the most important factor in determining where to make videogame purchases. Parents said they choose the store that has the newest games in stock. And "total adults" split on stores that had the best selection and the newest games.
Ranking low on each demographic's list were the factors "helpful and knowledgeable sales staff" and "in-store demonstration kiosks." Anyone who has sought buying advice from the helpful and knowledgeable sales staff at Best Buy or tried out a game kiosk where the controller was broken in half and the screen was frozen can probably relate.
Data for the survey was collected during August and September 2006 from 3,000 adults surveyed online and via telephone.
According to a new Famitsu Marketing survey, Sony's PlayStation Portable is getting walloped in Japan by Nintendo's DS. In November alone, the PSP sold a mere 86,000 units compared to nearly 550,000 DS Lites. More shocking are numbers for the first 11 months of the year, which show that Nintendo may have all but closed the door on PSP in Japan. The DS and DS Lite have sold more than 7.5 million units so far this year, with PSP selling just 1.6 million units.
Further troubling for Sony's portable system are its software sales in comparison to Nintendo. PSP has sold 2.8 million games to date this year, while Nintendo has sold 27 million games. This is what is referred to in business as a clobbering.
The battle is a bit closer in the U.S., though Nintendo retains a strong lead month-to-month. In November, likely the busiest sales month of the year, twice as many DS Lites were sold as PSPs.
Publicly, Sony has shown nothing but confidence for the future of the PSP. Despite having weaker sales numbers compared to DS, the PSP had a strong year in terms of quality software. Nine of the twelve PSP games to receive a 9.0 or higher from IGN were released in 2006.
Ok Christmas is nearly here, whats on your Xmas Wish List, for me i just want a PS3 now but thats not gonna happen so a nice 32inch HD ready TV would but nice

Ok, here’s the first verison, with very little FAT support… It works on no$gba, but takes like 30 seconds to load up because of the FAT init code (I’ll eventually release a version without it)
On DS, I could only test the FAT using my MK2, no idea how it’ll react with other hardware…
Simply click on the SAVE button to save the image, simple enough… It creates a new bmp file every time you save (GFXer000.bmp, then 001, etc…) because I got lazy and didn’t want to add the file explorer+keyboard just yet…
First Alpha release, don’t expect too much…
On my MK2 the miniviewer doesn’t work, but it worked on emulator and maybe EZ1 (not sure). I’ll see that later on, I’m getting tired of this already ^^
920,000 units sold in November in North America puts DS at the top of the sales chart for November, even beating sales of the newly launched Wii console, when people were camping outside shops to get their hands on the new console.
We wonder if everyone sat in Wii launch queues bought DSs just for something to do while they wait. 600,000 Wii's were snapped up by eager gamers last month, making for a hugely successful launch for Nintendo, but with the DS still owning the world as if no other games consoles exist, Nintendo already has plenty to celebrate.
Even the Game Boy Advance looks to be having a great Christmas, selling 642,000 units in November. There are surely more GBAs in the world than there are people by now, but somebody's still buying them, clearly.
According to Nintendo, it sold more than 2.1 million systems, including GameCube and Wii, of the 3.9 million consoles purchased in total in the month. Good times for Nintendo.
Australian research suggests that left-handers might be a bit better at games than their right-handed counterparts.
That's because, according to a report published in the Neuropsychology journal, sharing of information between the left and right sides of a left-hander's brain is "more efficient".
Dr Nick Cherbuin from the Australian National University told ABC Science Online that this would help with tasks that involve lots of information or stimuli, including "fast computer games".
He said that his research, which saw 80 right- and 20 left-handed people performing tasks designed to rely on collaboration between the two hemispheres of the brain, demonstrates that among left-handers "sharing of resource across their hemispheres is more efficient".
Lord knows what this means for me, mind you - I use my left hand for writing and my right for basically everything else.
What utter rubbish, everyone knows the right handers are best
A new report by analysts TNS Worldpanel Entertainment has revealed that women and older people are playing more games than ever - while figures for the traditional audience remain stable.
Over the past four years, the number of people aged 45 and over who buy games for personal use has risen by more than 40 per cent, while the figure for women gamers is up by 67 per cent. Meanwhile, sales to men have increased by just 4 per cent.
The over 45s contributed an additional GBP 81 million to the market last year, while women purchased 15 per cent of all games bought for personal use.
Although 57 per cent of titles bought will be played by gamers aged under 20, only 22 per cent are purchased by people in that age bracket - with the remainder bought as gifts.
According to TNS, UK gamers spent a total of GBP 1.1 billion on games over the last 12 months, and 47 million units were sold in total. The figures represent an increase of 10 per cent over the previous year and 50 per cent over the past five years.
The research will be well received by the likes of Nintendo, which has repeatedly stated its intention to expand the market by making gaming more accessible. Titles such as Brain Training and Animal Crossing for the Nintendo DS have already proved to be a hit with gamers outside the traditional market, and the company is hoping to attract new consumers with the recently launched Wii console.
Zelda fan site The Hylia is reporting, by way of Game Informer issue 165, that Zelda: Phantom Hourglass is going to be subject to a rather lengthy delay. Apparently, Phantom Hourglass won't be hitting retail shelves until October of 2007, much longer than the previous push to early 2007 the game received.

The next release could come out soon as Markus is working on the editor and the
export/import stuff as I type this. The IDGA pub night is once again next Tuesday, and
we'll be there once again testing the game in a totally unsuitable enviroment. Nintendo's
having some Wii demo stuff there, so it might turn out to something pretty interesting!

Today, D3Publisher announced Puzzle Quest: Warlords for the PlayStation Portable and Nintendo DS handheld systems. Puzzle Quest incorporates role-playing and strategy elements with classic puzzle-based gameplay.
"We believe consumers will enjoy the combination of much-loved gameplay styles incorporated into Puzzle Quest and find the game to be a compelling choice for casual or on-the-go gamers, as well as offer a great challenge to more seasoned gamers," said Michael Scharnikow of D3. "Puzzle Quest can be enjoyed in either long or short doses of gameplay for a casual, yet also deeply satisfying and immersive, gameplay experience."
Puzzle Quest forces gamers to create their own hero in order to save the land of Etheria from the evils that threaten it. In order to complete this quest, players must battle in turn-based, head-to-head puzzle games in one of three distinct gameplay modes: Single-player pits gamers against the computer AI in a series of 150 quests, Instant Action allows gamers to jump in and immediately play continuous battles to level-up characters without the need to participate in quests, finally Multiplayer lets players take on opponents via wireless connectivity on both handheld systems.
Puzzle Quest: Warlords for both the PSP and Nintendo DS will ship to North American retailers in March 2007.
Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings isn't the only DS-based Final Fantasy game set for display at this weekend's Jump Festa event in Tokyo. Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates will also be at the event. Even better, unlike the movie-only presence for Revenant Wings, the publisher will be delivering a playable version of Ring of Fates.
In addition to this news, Square Enix has opened up a teaser site for Crystal Chronicles. The full website will open shortly, presumably in time for the Jump Festa's December 16 start.
Square Enix has been shy on details and screens for Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings, one of its big Tokyo Game Show surprises. At long last, the silence has come to an end. Thanks to the latest issue of Famitsu, we have a few additional gameplay and story details.
As originally reported, Revenant Wings focuses on the further adventures of Vaan and Panelo. Following the events of FFXII, Vaan has grown some, and is working as an air pirate. Panelo is Vaan's girlfriend, and also serves as his navigator.
Revenant Wings takes place in Remless, a large island chain that floats above FFXII's Ivalice. The Eagle race of winged Hume creatures reside in this world within a world. These creatures have short lives of around 40 years. So far, we know of one particular Eagle, a young soldier named Llyud who ends up meeting Vaan and Panelo.
In addition to these story details, Famitsu also provides first details on the game's battle system. The battle system looks like it has some real time strategy elements to it. Vaan and his party -- the Famitsu screenshots show up to three allies -- face off against enemies directly on a 2D map. Your party members automatically attack their nearest enemy. It's up to you to tell the characters where to go and select a target if you wish. You also use the stylus to draw the area of attack for magic attacks.
Based on the screenshots in Famitsu, Revenant Wings looks like it's completely 2D, with lots of sprites, effects and color. The screens also make references to a "Gambit" system, suggesting FFXII's artificial intelligence system will make it over.
We weren't able to see any shots of the game's dual screen support, but director Motome Toriyama provided a few hints. The second screen will be used to help display data, which can't all fit on a single screen. You'll be able to switch the two screens between top and bottom.
Revenant Wings is still being flagged with a TBA release date. But with a new trailer expected to debut at next week's Jump Festa in Tokyo, we expect the Japanese release to not be too far off.
We have added the ultra low price Kingston 1GB Micro SD card, compatible with Cyclo-DS and other devices

FIFA '07 is number one in the all-formats chart for a third week running, having seen off rival PES6 once again and beating launch titles for Nintendo's new Wii console.
EA is also occupying the number two slot with Need for Speed: Carbon - the bookies' favourite to be Christmas number one.
Pro Evolution Soccer 6 is up one place to number three, following increased sales of the PSP and Xbox 360 versions, while Call of Duty 3 drops into fourth position.
Making its debut at number 5 is The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess - one of six of the 14 Wii launch titles to go straight into the all-formats chart.
It's estimated that around two thirds of those picking up one of Nintendo's new consoles also bought a copy of Zelda, making it the best-selling Wii title so far - followed by Wii Play, which comes bundled with a remote controller, and is at number nine in the all-formats top ten.
Ubisoft lined up no less than seven Wii titles for day one, and Red Steel was the third most popular game for the console, followed by Rayman Raving Rabbids at four, Monster 4x4 World Circuit at eight and GT Pro Series at nine.
In the all-formats chart Red Steel debuted at 19, while Rayman went in at number 30. The highest climber of the week was Happy Feet, also a Wii launch title, up seven places to number 11.
Nintendo's handheld is still going strong, with 14 DS games in the top 40 - including Yoshi's Island DS at number 36, which has almost doubled sales during its second week of release, and Big Brain Academy at 39.
Xbox 360 title Project Gotham Racing 3 is up 14 places to number 36, and Xbox 360 Live Arcade Unplugged has appeared in the chart for the first time at number 35.
Dragon Quest IX will be a Nintendo DS title, and is due out sometime in 2007, Square Enix has announced in Japan.
Given the series' massive popularity over there, the company's decision to make the next epic instalment for the diminutive Nintendo handheld is likely to cause a stir. For example, this paragraph, which wouldn't be here otherwise.
Developed by Level-5, who did the last PlayStation 2 title, Dragon Quest VIII, and are also working on PlayStation 3's White Knight Story, the ninth DQ RPG is subtitled "Hoshizora no Mamoribito", which is translated as something like "Defender of the Starry Skies" according to 1UP.
It will be done in 3D, with action-oriented battles and network options that will see up to four players teaming up. Series creator Yuji Horii has reportedly spoken of his desire to make a game that's "a true part of the series" and not simply a spin-off in the vein of other Nintendo DS RPGs based on renowned home-console series.
The game's said to be quite a way along, with a playable demo shown off at the game's unveiling in Japan, while Famitsu has a pair of screenshots demonstrating bright, handsome 3D RPG visuals more akin to the game's recent traditions than the top-down battling typically associated with the two-screen handheld.
Square-Enix's event in Japan also saw the unveiling of card-battler Dragon Quest: Monster Battle Road, according to reports.
The DS is finally dethroned, by big brother the Wii. Currently Nintendo are completely dominating Japan selling over 1/2 million different consoles this week, while the rest can't reach the 100,000 combined!
Speaking of the rest, they all dropped in sales this week, but still keeping in the same order (rank) with each other. Its still too early to comment about the PS3 sales as we know they have shortages.
After last weeks jump the PSP slips back again, not looking good for the hand-held.
As always, the Xbox 360 trails the next gen consoles by a huge margin, but next weeks sales figures will reflect the "Blue Dragon" effect... could it do a 360 with MS fortunes in Japan?

The public loves its scares. Since the advent of gaming, our beloved hobby has been under attack. The scares normally revolve around violence and how gaming is the root cause. The newest scare that might get tagged to gaming: WiFi.
Currently, the scientific world is fighting over the health effects of WiFi. Some claim that WiFi destroys organ tissue -- didn't they try this with cell phones -- and another camp that says the first group is full of bunk. Since each major console, handheld and not-so-handheld, has some WiFi component, it is just a matter of time before gaming gets blamed.
Gamers, gear up for another possible scare: games cause cancer. It is not a matter of if, but when some "intelligent" person figures out that a large chunk of those evil WiFi waves are being pumped out by various DS, PSP, or Xbox 360 units. That's fine by us, we're already fully aware the public-at-large latches onto the worst possible (and frequently wrong) aspect of anything different, we're used to being under fire.

Star Trek: Tactical Assaultchecks you out to the final frontier. Kirk is in command, and the Klingons are the bad guys. Choose powerful Federation and Klingon warships and outthink your opponents to succeed. Play through the era that started it all, with this classic Star Trek game. Play through either the Federation or Klingon campaigns in single-player mode or go head-to-head against a friend in wireless multiplayer action.
Kirby's back and ready for a bellyful of adventure, in Kirby Squeek Squad. When someone steals some strawberry shortcake, the pink powerhouse sets out after them, learning new skills. All the classic floating, jumping and battling of a classic Kirby game are here, but with a massive boost. You'll mix and match abilities that Kirby copies, by using the stylus to drag them together inside Kirby's belly (located on the touch screen). The powers themselves now have the ability to affect the environment, as well as foes. Burn trees and grasses with the Fire ability, freeze water with the Ice ability. In sub-game mode, this game also features multiplayer fun for up to four players, using either Multi-Card or DS Download Play over DS Local Area Network.
MoonBooks is an extension of my Literary Greats library on cd project you’ve probably not heard of. These books are in the public domain and are formatted specifically for use with the fabulous MoonShell for the Nintendo DS.
I’m hoping this project, and any others like it will expand upon the interest programs like Brain Age has created in the video game industry, and cause Nintendo or some other company to release something like MoonShell (or any other text viewer) to the general public, as the books are already available and freely (and legally) available.
So basically... books in the public domain specifically formatted for use with MoonShell.
ttursas has again updated his homebrew game for the DS, heres whats new:
Here's what's new in v0.2.0:
* Added another multiplayer mode: 40 seconds (with a timer in the HUD).
* When a multiplayer match begins, "GO!" is displayed on the screen.
* Moved "VICTORY!", "DEFEAT", "GO!" and "PAUSE" a little up so that they don't cover the plane.
* After pressing "CONNECT!", "READY!" or "END!", the user cannot select anything in the
menus for one second. This is to prevent accidental double clicking.
* Bombs and mines didn't score kills, fixed that.
...
Not that much, but that's all for a while. I'll be preparing myself for my holiday, and taking that
holiday, so no more Wright Flight updates for the next three weeks. See ya!
This is my first app for NDS, I work with 2 person for a proyect of investigation in my school. Thanks a lot to PALib libraries, for the very easy use to compile the Code.
This is a very very simple calculator, only add, multiply, divide, reduce two numbers.
So it's no surprise that developers look to games like Pokemon for their own inspirations, and that's exactly what's going on with D3Publisher and its upcoming Nintendo DS adventure: Fossil League: Dino Tournament Champion. Also known as Dino Grand Prix in Japan, this D3Publisher release will hit stateside early next year, and the company let us tinker around with the localized version that it had on-hand at its holiday event last week.
Fossil League's design follows the Pokemon layout almost to a T. Instead of collecting and battling random and original creatures, you'll be collecting and battling dinosaurs from all across the different prehistoric eras. And in this case, D3Publisher can get away with staking an "educational" slant for the design since all the creatures have scientific evidence backing that they existed on the planet at one time or another.
The whole idea is to traverse the past and complete your Dinopedia by collecting dinosaurs for your army. There are more than a hundred different dinosaurs to encounter in this game, all rendered in 3D during battle sequences where players pit Dino against Dino to win fights and strengthen their creatures. You'll not only use the touch screen to command your dinos in battle, but you'll also play archeologist on the touch panel by using the stylus to excavate fossils you stumble over along the way.
Like Pokemon, you'll be able to fight against other players wirelessly on other local Nintendo DS systems, but you won't be able to trade collected dinos with one another. Bummer.
Who knows what events led to the creation of Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords. But there it is, a game that crosses puzzles game like Bejeweled with the strategy role-playing genre. It's an interesting concept, like splicing Dance Dance Revolution with a Zork text adventure. The game showed up at a recent event in San Francisco, held by D3 Publisher to show off its upcoming titles.
At first, Puzzle Quest looks like a typical RPG. Players choose a character among a pool of different types, as well as a gender and name. From there, the game dumps the newly formed character on top of an overworld map. Again, players will notice this looks a lot like a typical RPG setup complete with towns and castles. But here's where things shoot off in another direction. Instead of traveling the land and entering towns, players simply click on towns to bring up an options menu. They can visit a number of shops, receives quests or do whatever else happens to sit in the menu. Since the demo on display took place at the start of the game, there was only one quest available.
First announced on gbadev.org forums. I'll quote everything right here, for the lazy.
I grew tired of the only-one-screen-usage of DS Doom 1.0.0 and hacked along myself, adding a zoomable automap on the lower screen together with a whole lot of pretty features. I've had plenty of contact with the DS Doom developers WinterMute and TheCuckster and hoped I could apply the changes to SVN... Well until now, don't hear anything from them. I guess they don't like the changes or my code is too dirty or something, although wintermute was planning on creating an SVN account. Ah well.
You can download the 1.1.0 sourcecode and mess with it yourself, if you like to. I don't really care anymore, good luck with it. I've marked all my changes with comments "// Jefklak [date] [description]".
At least let me distribute this version so other people beyond myself can enjoy some more Doom on the Nintendo DS.
1. Enabled automap mode on the lower DS Screen! stats are displayed on the lower screen too. Option can be set in config file.
* Automap set to autofollow
* Zoom IN/OUT: hold B and press L/R accordingly
2. Implemented Power save mode! Closing the DS will set DS Doom in
* Engine stops running and game will be 'paused'
* Screen and Sound system powered down to save battery life
* LED blinks to indicate save mode
3. Disabled LED blinking when playing.
4. On DS Lite, Change Brightness in-game! hold B and press SELECT.
5. Displays loading/saving messages (can take a while)
6. Options/General menu
* cheat code option
* console mode option
* swap DS screens option
* All options can be set manually in CFG!
7. Options menu: fixed Y/N (press select/A to emulate Y key)
8. Exit Doom code, powers off the DS device
9. NDS icon attached (G6, DSX, ... cartridges)
10. Saving: automatically label slot with profile (select a save slot with SElECT. When the name appears, press SELECT again or A to confirm - this will save the game.
11. In DOOM II, enable regular Shotgun to weapon cycle
12. Other minor fixes and tweaks
Since the last reporting period, sentiment for the Wii has slightly cooled off and is receiving more competition from the Xbox 360. Discussion levels for the Wii are much higher giving it the edge over the Xbox 360 and the top spot this week. Availability has been an issue as consumers are finding it difficult to obtain a Wii. However, purchase intent is high which stems mostly from positive discussion about the Wii’s innovative controller.
This week, sentiment for the Wii and Xbox 360 are similar but the Xbox 360 still trails the competition in discussion share resulting in a second place ranking. So far, Microsoft has managed to keep sentiments positive despite the hype surrounded by the Wii and PS3 launches. Online features, graphics, and game lineup represent the Xbox 360’s most significant strengths. Microsoft may currently ba benefiting from low availability of the Wii and PS3 as purchase intent increased 0.6 points from last week.
The PS3 is struggling to reverse negative perceptions of the console. In nearly every aspect, the console scores below the segment average. Discussion of the Cell Processor and graphics may be the key to changing consumer perceptions in the future as it currently represents its strengths. However, the PS3 has yet to convince consumers that the graphics are superior as sentiment scores still trail the Xbox 360 by 0.4 points — no improvement from last week.
# The Wii continues to be in a strong position as discussion of the Wii-mote and Nunchuk controller have increased and remained positive. The revolutionary controller and low cost are what set the Wii apart from its competitors — this has been a popular starting point for positive discussion as the Wii’s purchase intent is generating similar amounts of discussion as the PS3 and Xbox 360 combined. However, while sentiment for purchase intent has increased, discussion share has decreased almost 10% since the previous reporting period. This may be due to low availability in retail stores and unimproved sentiments for graphics.
# The Xbox 360 has continued to withstand hype surrounding the recent launches of the PS3 and Wii. It is receiving above average sentiment scores for 7 of the top 10 attributes. It continues to lead in availability sentiment and makes up almost 45% of all online features-related discussion, with 73% of that being positive. Game lineup and graphics also represent the Xbox 360’s strengths as it currently holds distinct advantages over the PS3 and Wii.
# While the PS3’s graphics remain its highest-ranked attribute, it still falls behind the Xbox 360 which earned a 4.4 sentiment score compared to the PS3’s 4.0. The rest of the attributes continue to elicit negative discussion, though sentiment has seen a small increase across most of the top 10 attributes. Price/Value continues to be a major issue for the PS3 and it currently contributes to its overall low sentiment.

It's not just the Wii which has been performing well recently - Nintendo's handheld has also been breaking some records of its own.
New figures released by the company show 515,000 DS units were sold across Europe last week. That's the highest number for any week in the handheld's history and, according to Nintendo, the most any console has ever sold in seven days.
In total, 8.5 million DS units have been sold in Europe since the console launched in March 2005, and that figure is set to get a further boost as the festive season gets underway.
Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz at GAME's midnight opening for the launch of the Wii last week, the retailer's chief executive, Lisa Morgan, said, "What's so great about this Christmas is there's such a wide choice of things for consumers to choose from. The Nintendo DS, for example, is selling so well - the pink DS Lite is just flying out the doors the minute it hits the shelves."
Guess what! Grandparents and baby boomers want tech products like Nintendo DS for Christmas, according to research commissioned by, er, Nintendo.
The survey, conducted by Harris Interactive by telephone in the US, claims that - to within a three percent margin of error - 52 percent of grandparents and 68 percent of baby boomers would quite like a "technology product" for Christmas.
Apparently at least half of that group said that they would quite like a portable videogame system (like a DS Lite, hint hint) this year.
Harris Interactive apparently conducted the survey by ringing up 1,025 adults over 18, and weighting responses for age, sex, geographic region and race to bring them into line with their actual proportions in the population.
"Sampling error for the sub-samples of parents (n=654), grandparents (n=399) and baby boomers (n=380) would be higher and would vary," if you're interested. "However, that does not take other sources of error into account."
Like the fact most grandparents actually don't want you to worry about getting them anything for Christmas. That's what mine said. Are they saying my gran's a liar? Watch it, Nintendo.
New research conducted by Professor Tony McEnery of Lancaster University, reveals that today's teenagers have a measley vocabulary of just over 12,600 words compared with the 21,400 words available to the average 25 to 34 year-old. Apparently the word sequences 'but no' and 'no but' appear almost twice as frequently in teenage speech than in everyone else's, leading to fears that we're rolling out a nation of Vicky Pollards.
What's to blame? 'Technology isolation syndrome,' asserts Professor McEnery. Kids these days spend too long locked into their own worlds, cut off by personal MP3 players and games consoles. Consequently, I suspect, they are now only able to communicate in the form of track listings and videogame mission briefings.
Ah, if only this were the case. You never hear Solid Snake struggling to communicate an unamusing anecdote involving Trevor Dilton and that slag Jane Green behind the Shell garage on Princes Street. Although to be fair, I did skip a lot of the cut-scenes in MGS2, I could have missed something.

I've not ordered any new hardware yet as the new offering from the Super Card guys looks to be around the corner and I want to see if it's any good or not first. I've been wrestling this my current gear and it's driving me mad. I've still not found an effective work around, but after lot's of formatting, copying and recopying I can generally get the roms to work, but then the data is corrupted, very rarely do I get both rom and data ok at the same time.
It looks like I'm going to have to rely on you guys for now! I can't test my code on my hardware or emulator (crashes) so here we go, the first uploaded test, though it is complete arse ;p I'm interested to see here whether the fat system initialises and whether it can read from the other file in the zip. If successful hopefully the next test will be the GUI pages.... and then a map?
If it loads ok you should see a screen like below. When you hit the 'A' button the green block will advance a pixel to the right (just shows input works). If you press the 'SELECT' button the debug menu will appear. If it's working correctly the debug menu should look like the one in the screenshot.

One day after the surprise announcement of Dragon Quest IX for the DS, Square Enix is all set to drop another bombshell. According reports out of Japan, the next issue of Jump Magazine will contain news of two new Final Fantasy Tactics games.
The PSP will be getting Final Fantasy Tactics: Shishi Sensou, an updated version of the original PlayStation classic. Square Enix is adding new jobs and some slick cell shaded movies, but aside from that, it's unclear what kind of improvements we can expect.
The second project is a bit more mysterious. Nothing is known about this game, except for its title: Final Fantasy Tactics A2 Fuuketsu no Guurimore. We don't even know its target platform. Jump is promising an update down the road.
Both projects fall under a series of projects that Square Enix refers to as "Ivalice Alliance," Ivalice being the name of the world in which both Final Fantasy Tactics and Final Fantasy XII take place. Final Fantasy XII Revenant Wings, a DS offshoot of this year's PS2 blockbuster, also falls under this project.
We've yet to see the Jump report for ourselves, but with the annual Jump Festa comic/videogame show scheduled to kick off on Saturday in Tokyo, we're hoping to get a look at both new projects shortly. We'll be back later this week with whatever details we can dig up at the show.

If you are interested, now you can download from freepascal SVN the fpc compiler for Nintendo DS. In a couple of hour/days/weeks I should provide a package for download and, maybe, a new FPC4GBA too, who knows... =D
Stay tuned!
And with the screens come the new details. We've already heard that the battle system for FFXII: Revenant Wings will be a simplified version of that in FFXII proper, with specialized stylus functionality -- now we see it in (still) action. Now we also know there is no battle screen -- all fights take place in real time, and the player uses the stylus to position characters for battle. Sounds like a lot for the DS to handle, and we can't wait to see it in action
It's a 3D racing game called Whee! DS. I didn't give much thought for the name, so feel free to suggest a better one.
When you select New Game, you only have one track to play and you have to win that one to unlock the next one. There is infinite number of tracks to unlock and every one is a bit more difficult then the previous one.
Use D-Pad for steering, [A] for acceleration and [b] for brake/sharper turning, [L] and [R] for items.
This game uses SRAM for saving and doesn't give a warning or anything like that before formatting, so be carefull. Sorry for being so lazy
Please tell me what you think of it. Is it too difficult/easy/ugly?
Hi all ive posted this as an announcement but ill repeat what i have to post here
On all the Console Forums now we will have on the main Index a News forum for that console and a Discussion Forums Link which will take you to the area with all the forums for that console or family of consoles
so for example instead of 10 forums in the main index for the Dreamcast/Sega forums you will see just a
Dreamcast News forum
Sega Saturn News forum
Sega Consoles Discussion Forums
Ive now rearranged the PSP, PS3 and PS2 forums as well
Clicking on the DIscussion forums will take you to the area with all the forums for that console, alternatively each forum section has an easy link with all forums for that section, what it does is make the main index a bit shorter but also gives each console more scope to expand forums should the need arise.
News forums and Posting
Time and time again i have people messaging me asking about why they cant start a topic in the News forums, well reason is each news forum is the News feed for that particular site, you can reply to any thread but for normal discussion please use the discussion forums for each console.
Xbox360 Site
DS69 has now took over the Xbox360 site which gives me some more time to work on the other sites and maybe get some sleep now and again
Reviews Site
The reviews site is to get a make over like the PSP/Wii Sites and will focus on reviews for all consoles and software with its own section maybe under the name DCEmu Reviews all to come soon.
PC Gaming Site
The RTS and RPG Sites will merge into a PC/Windows Gaming site and feature news on all styles of PC Gaming and maybe even the best of PC Homebrew if we get time.
The gaming world in Japan is abuzz with rumors that Square Enix is not the only one to leave the Sony camp and this is just a lead for others to follow
Copied below for anyone have access problems to the site:
Livedoor News has an interesting article on the recent surprise announcement by Square Enix to shift to the Nintendo camp after a long gap with the announcement of Dragon Quest 9 for the DS handheld.
The article says that game analysts believe this will
be a lead for other game development companies to follow. Now if that analysis is to be believed then
this is a very difficult position for Sony.
Numerically the article says that if X was the
development cost for a PSX game then the PS2 platform development is approximately 5 to 10 times the same which is followed by another 2-3 times the cost when one starts making a game for the PS3. So it all revolves around the simple logic of "we are here to make profit" scenario and Sony needs to do some hard thinking of the same.
The article furhter on sheds light on the fat that
the year 2006 has shown the PSP the door in Japan and Nintendo DS (in Japan) itself is all set to climb the 15 million units peak soon. A strong user base and the consumer preference in Japan tilting heavily towards simple and likable games like Super Mario brothers /Pokemon / Love and Berry etc business sense dictates DS as the future here. Square Enix has just begun the process which is bound to accelerate very soon. With PS2 the emphasis is on high quality rather than higher profits is what is deterimental to the progress of business and yes that i too would consider as common sense.
Analyst at J-Cast also further says that the cost to
develop a PS3 game is around 10 times that of DS , but honestly comparing a console based game's cost to a handheld is somewhat a naive approach. A high risk , low return scenario with PS3 does not augue well for business which can alternatively have a low risk, high return strategy with the DS. Its true somewhat considering that Namco is still to make money on Ridge Race for PS3 since there are not those many consoles yet in the hands of
consumers for them to sell the copies of. But this will change over the next one year as we see more number of PS3 consoles land up in consumers homes.
The article closes its argument with another quote from an industry watcher that SCE has been making statements like PS2 or PS3 are not only gaming consoles but more than that. For game makers this has reflects like the console being a mere machine to advance the DVD (in case of PS2) or Blu-ray (in csae for PS3). The focus which the japanese
so value is not there in the efforts of Sony and Nintendo feels better.
Well this is just one side of the coin I believe , there
is certainly a market for the integrated entertainment console in our homes and PS3 needs to expand its base soon enough for it to snatch back the no 1 position from the present temporary number 3 position for its next generation console vis-a-vis Wii and Xbox-360
The DS reclaims it throne, in style by moving 300k+ units. After last weeks launch the Wii drops to 85k. Sony moves PS3 manufacturing up a gear with 50K sold this week.
But big mover this week is the Xbox 360, claiming 4th place (actually beating the ps2) with over 35k units sold, all thanks to Blue Dragon.
The PSP still seems to be in trouble in Japan, despite increasing in sales it drops behind the PS2 (and 360) in total sales.
It seems that the DS has this Christmas in its pocket, but on the console front, it going to be a fight between the Wii and PS3, who can make the most units?
Also how far will the Xbox 360 fall next week? back to normal numbers (1.5k to 7k) or is this the point were the 360 fights back?
A faulty batch of DS Lite chargers in Japan have been recalled by Nintendo after an overheating issue has raised safety concerns.
A statement on Nintendo's Japanese site identifies the batch of power cables affected, and calls for them all to be returned, with a replacement sent to everyone affected.
No serious malfunctions or incidents have been reported, so we assume this is simply a precaution taken by Nintendo. It has been confirmed that these issues do not affect European and US territories.

Seiken Densetsu: Heroes of Mana will be the next big chapter in the popular action RPG series after Seiken Densetsu 4, though this time it's taking the form of an S-RPG with 'real-time strategy battles.' Like Children of Mana, it'll be a Nintendo DS game, but Brownie Brown is developing the project this time and they want to give the stylus some proper use, it seems.
The site has been up for a few weeks now, but a system section with screens was added today. It's a nice-looking (and sounding) website indeed, with artwork-based wallpapers to download. This is also the week where Square-Enix has unveilled/shown some important projects for Nintendo's dual-screened handheld, namely Level 5's Dragon Quest IX, Final Fantasy - Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates, Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings and Final Fantasy Tactics A2 ~Fuuketsu no Grimoire~. 'Tiny' future, we're afraid.
DSLua has returned with a new group! Sypherce, Daltonlaffs, and I (Jeremysr) wil be developing DSLua from now on. And right now we are releasing DSLua 0.6!
The new features are a wifi function library, auto-starting a script (behaves like an actual DS homebrew program), new system and stylus functions, and a microphone library.
It has also been compiled with much newer versions of PAlib and devkitPro, and as a result lua programs run much faster now.
DSLua still comes in CF and GBFS flavours. But now the CF version uses LibFATDragon and comes with grey, green, and blue versions, like DSorganize. This makes it compatible with lots of homebrew devices.
We also wrote a documentation. It comes with DSLua 0.6 but there is a link to an online version on the menu to your left.
Tassu has posted another DS Homebrew game today, heres the info:
This is a really fun 3D multiplayer action game. There's no single player game, only two players on one DS. The point in the game is to hit the opponent and then run away before he/she hits you back. I'm sure everyone knows what a game of tag is all about.
Player one moves around with the D-pad and player two moves with A, B, X and Y. Double cklicking makes the tagged character charge forward. Both players have 120 seconds time. When youre tagged, the clock starts counting down and the player who runs out of time first loses.
It Seems that DSxtremes days as the only decent Slot 1 flashcart are over, heres the details about the new SLot 1 cart from M3:

Ok time for the second test! But don't get too excited about this one, I doubt very much it will work first time. This one should show a few test GUI screens like the one pictured below but it will probably just come up with two white screens. This will be the first proper test of the file system in use and also a different graphics mode (Mode 5). I've only ever tested this with Dualis so I can't be sure it'll work on the real thing.. but fingers crossed

Square Enix has at last started to share details on the new DS entry in the Crystal Chronicles series of Final Fantasy offshoots. These first details on Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates, come our way via the latest issue of Famitsu.
For those who were concerned that the drop in system specs from the GameCube to the DS would result in dumbed down gameplay, we've got some good news for you. Ring of Fates actually adds some complexity to the original Crystal Chronicles gameplay system, thanks to a fully 3D world. Differences in surface height have an effect on battle.
Fighting is action oriented once again, with up to four players cooperating on the battle field. As with the original, the game uses a simple button setup, with the A button used for magic and standard attacks, and the B button used to pick things up. The targeting ring also returns with the sequel. By holding down the attack button, you can specify an area over which you want your magic and healing to work.
Square Enix has added a few new elements to the game. You can now jump, which promises to give the game a more action feel. The stylus can be used for direct manipulation of the menus that appear on the bottom screen -- that's right, all the action takes place on the top screen.
But the biggest change is in the absence of the Crystal Cage. In the original, the world and all areas of play were surrounded in a poisonous mist. In order to protect yourself, you had to carry a Crystal Cage device around wherever you went, with one player physically transporting it as your party advanced through the world. With the Crystal Cage missing this time, you're free to move around as you please.
The only thing up in the air right now seems to be the method to be used for multiplayer play. The game's character designer, Toshiyuki Itahana, said in an interview with Famitsu, that Crystal Chronicles is meant to be played as players speak to one another in order to time their spells and movements. The game will have close proximity wireless play, but internet-based play via Wi-Fi is something that's currently being looked into. Itahana mentioned the possibility of a different type of play through Wi-Fi, with Famitsu speculating that perhaps item exchange and downloads could be what results.
Those who plan on playing alone will be pleased to learn that Ring of Fates has a story mode for single players. The story surrounds two main characters, Yulie and Cherinka. This brother-sister pair are twins, and while they have their own distinct personalities, they're said to have been born at the same time from a single force.
Also playing a big role in the game are two crystals, one good, one not so good. The not so good one has been bringing pain to the twins' home town, which is how the story begins.
The theme of the storyline, according to director Mitsuru Kamiyama, is brother-sister and family love. There will also be an element of character growth. While the main characters start off young, they grow as the game progresses. Kamiyama promises a full single player experience this time, with a storyline that will make players laugh and cry.
Unfortunately, there's no word yet on when we'll get to play through Crystal Chronicles in single player mode, but we don't anticipate a long wait, at least not in Japan. A demo will be shown at the Jump Festa comic/videogame show this weekend in Tokyo, so the title can't be too far off.
Slime has been hogging the spotlight since Square and Enix merged, with a couple of classics for the Game Boy Advance and DS, but now it's time for the Square side of the deal to take the spotlight.
In Chocobo to Maho no Ehon (Chocobo and the Magic Picture Book), you play as a young Chocobo named Chocobo in a quest to save your friends and, undoubtedly, the world. You're walking around in your Chocobo farm one day, all set to have Shiroma, the Final Fantasy white magician, read you a book. Kuroma, the FF black magician, comes in with a book of his own, which turns out to be the great Demon Bebezu. Bebezu sucks all your fellow Chocobos into its pages and it's up to you to save them.
The saving your fellow Chocobo thing may make this sound like a rip of Slime's portable adventure games, but Chocobo is totally different. It's so unique, in fact, that two hours in, and I'm not sure what to expect next.
Based on my first hour of play time, this is what I thought the game was going to be like. You move Chocobo around town until you find a book. Touch the book, and you find yourself in a mini game. Clear it, and one of your friends is released. Keep doing that, and eventually you get all your friends back, and you can go about your... well, whatever it is that Chocobos do when main Final Fantasy games are still a ways off from release.
But that's only a part of the experience. Chocobo also has battles. When facing off against a big beast, you enter into a turn-based fight. You and your opponent each select an attack card from your deck of cards (more on that in a bit). The results are shown on the top screen with flat, Paper Mario style characters attacking one another. The battle continues, with you selecting a new card each turn, until one character loses all his life.
This battle system is surprisingly complex. Your cards, spooled out randomly in sets of three, are full of markings, indicating elemental type, rareness and the effect if successful. The winner of each duel is determined using a paper-rock-scissors style system. The battle system rewards fast thought, as the player who draws first gets the first attack.
Part of the strategy is in building up your own card deck. You can store multiple decks, editing them with cards of your choice and even assigning a name.
As for how you get new cards... well, that's where the mini games come into play again. In addition to saving your friends from their picture book bondage, doing well in mini games earn you new cards. You also find new cards as you explore the game world.
The mini games come in a variety of forms. So far, I've played a game where you race up a mountain by using the stylus to rotate a turtle and take cover from falling rocks, a game where you draw trampolines to help Chocobos leap up to a certain height while avoiding bombs blocking their path, a game where you move the stylus around to locate a particular character in a scene, and a few others. While some of the games are optional, a few are required in order to progress. Most are simple, as if they were designed for younger audiences, but even if you don't take a liking to a particular game (as has been the case for me more than once), at least they're easy to clear without too much mastery.
Chocobo and the Magic Picture Book has some multiplayer support around its mini games and battle system. The mini games and battles are playable by between 2 and 4 players via wireless. Even better, battles can be fought via the net through Nintendo's Wi-Fi Connect service.
So that's Chocobo and the Magic Picture Book. At least, the first two hours of it. Things keep on popping up as I continue to play, though, so who knows what else is in store. At the two hour mark, the world has just expanded beyond the first town that served as an introduction to the game. There's definitely a lot of play time in store.
The story telling is particularly interesting. In addition to a main storyline involving a witch named Iruma and her quest to revive the evil Bebezu by gathering four elemental crystals that serve to protect the Chocobo world, the mini games themselves have individual stories. Before beginning play, you view a prologue, scrolling through text on the bottom screen while the events play out on the top screen using the same stylish Paper Mario style flat artwork that's used in battles. The epilogue appearing only once you've cleared the game. There are usually three epilogues, with the latter two accessible only to those who've done exceptionally well in the games.
The mini game stories often have some sort of connection to the game world. One story tells how a Chocobo, having been robbed of his money, found a bean sprout which, when planted, caused a great bean stock to grow to the sky. Finish this story, and a small bean sprout in the game world grows to allow you to reach a new area of play.
While this is a game with something for everyone, Final Fantasy fans in particular will want to take note. The game has little bits of the classic series thrown about, with cameos from Mogul and other FF characters, bosses that are based off classic summon beasts, and even Final Fantasy boss music used during mini game play!
Plus, this game does for Chocobos what the Slime games did for Slime. With Chocobos of all colors and sizes, this could be the cutest game of the year. And it will hopefully be the start of many new adventures starring the mascot from the Square side of Square Enix.

Hey everybody...I was playing some Splinter Cell Dual Agent this morning...and decided to make a bring the computer/equipment hacking mini-game to the ds. I spent about 3 hours making h4ck3r - so take it for what it's worth. (no nice graphics!)
How to play:
Each column has a key, and your ds will automatically hack each of the 10 rows in each column to find the key. When it has found the key it will lock it for the row. You don't have enough time to let your ds do all the hacking for you, so when it has locked a row - touch it to apply the key to each row in the column.
Lock keys for all 5 columns before time runs out. Each round allows less time. There are two equipment upgrades that will make your ds hack faster.
The latest issue of Nintendo Power has a three page spread of new Diddy Kong Racing DS screens and info.
DKR DS is, of course, a remake of Rare's N64 classic. However, little was known about what changes would be made, if any. Well, not all the questions have been answered, but at least we now know that the title will feature every course from the original game. Also, the game boasts three ways of playing with your friends: single card download play, wireless play, and yes, WiFi play.
You can look for Diddy and all his pals on February 5th, 2007 in North America.
Soooooo.. finally it's done! wow, i made my first automata! i'm enough tired, but it's finished for now (do you remember? i promised new gfx..). now it has a skilled AI (easy and normal) so now you can play solo mode. another interesting function it's the "watch a game" mode.. pretty useless, but i put it in for people that like to watch their nds while is playing alone (i'm one of them).
what else? oh well, the ai levels. easy: ai first try to do the best capture move and if it isn't available, do a random move normal: ai first try to do a perfect move, then try the best capture move and if they aren't available, do a random move hard: i haven't coded an hard level, beacuse it's not so simple and maybe i'm missing knowledges and i don't feel like doing it now.
i didn't test it very well because i'm tired. i hope you will find bugs or improvements and then report them to me for a fix. i'll fix them, promise

News always sounds more exotic when it comes from Jeux-France. But their rumours....they verge on being delicious. I wish we called ours "rumeurs". They sound sexier that way. I bet Jeux-France could bed a woman just by whispering "rumeur" lightly in her ear.
Anyway...JF are passing along a pondering that the DS is in line for another update, due sometime in 2007. The only info appears to be that they'll be increasing the screen size dramatically, going from 3 inches to between 3.5 and 3.8. That'd be nice, but is it really necessary? Three different versions of the same hardware is a bit much, even by Nintendo's standards.
Do Nintendo Really Need to Improve the DS as it is now ?
"The Nintendo DS appeals to all members of the public, which explains why it is the first console to break through the 2 million barrier so quickly after its launch in France. For the last few days, more games are being sold on Nintendo DS than on any other games platform in France, and more and more publishers are actively participating in this dynamic. The sales trend is actually experiencing a phenomenal acceleration without precident in the videogames market."
WFCStatus by KevinC is a status viewer for Nintendo's WiFi connection. It basically reads all the data from Nintendo's website without loading tons of animations and images in a browser.
Heres whats new:
Now with Wii support! The one game that has online play, Pokemon Battle Revolution, is added. Also 8 new DS games including Bleach DS 2nd, Diddy Kong Racing and DS Air
Pokemon: Diamond/Pearl is, beyond doubt, the most anticipated release in the American market for the wonderous and fancy DS. Despite runaway sales in Japan and critical success, however, Nintendo has remained extremely tight-lipped about its eventual release date, with nothing more than a "TBA 2007" showing up in their catalogs.
The latest Nintendo Power, however, seems to have mention of a Spring release; those trusty soldiers at NeoGAF seem to have their heads on straight. Furthermore, Nintendo's official Pokemon website is now claiming an April 22nd release date, and despite Nintendo's penchant for delaying games till all eight planets align, we'll give them the benefit of the doubt. We won't lie ... we want this game, stigma be damned. The Pokemon franchise, if nothing else, has repeatedly demonstrated engrossing gameplay and attention to detail, and the new Wi-Fi trading system just makes it all the sweeter.
Wanna know what else? Nintendo Power gave the upcoming Phoenix Wright: Justice for All a 9 out of 10. Awesome. If David didn't mention that you have to love Phoenix Wright to come work here, then consider this an amendment of epic proportions.
Sensei posted a new Virtua Cop style game for the Nintendo DS, heres the translated details:
Presentation:
It is about a play of shot for the DS. The originality lies in the fact that it is necessary to aim at the enemies who appear on the screen top while tapping on the screen of bottom. One thus aims at best as if there were a firearm…
The experts will have recognized the decoration of the play (a little modified) and the character with abbatre is not other than the hero of Kid Chameleon on Megadrive (I do not have anything against him, with the contraitre, I find the hero well class), of or titrates it.
History:
First exit 18/12/2006. Version beta 0.1
How to play:
One touches the touch screen to draw on the screen the top…
One reloads with L.
Other information:
For the moment there is no Challenge.
The difficulty is badly regulated. At the beginning, the enemi seldom appears, then its appearances multiply as the score is increased. From 30, one arrives at the maximum difficulty and it is still rather easy…
On the screen of bottom, one can see the number of shootings carried out, the number of enemies abbatus and numbers it missed enemis (if that Ci recache).
I would like to center the challenge on the coefficient <tirs/ennemis abbatus> like on the number of enemis abbatus. If I arrive has corser the difficulty, I make a game over at the end of a certain number of loupés enemies. I also think of setting up a system of combos, i.e. to kill the enemies in a ball and the enchainer without drawing with with dimensions.

Electronic Arts has seized Christmas Number One for the fourth consecutive year, with FIFA 07 - and not expected champion Need for Speed Carbon - claiming the festive top spot.
The popular street racer hasn't lost out by much though as it skids into second place in the Christmas run-up, further bolstering EA's gaming franchises during the busy holiday shopping season.
THQ's WWE Smackdown Vs RAW 2007 grapples the third position, while Konami's excellent footy instalment Pro Evolution Soccer 6 slide-tackles into number four.
Further down in the Christmas charts is Activision's Call of Duty 3 at five, while third EA entry The Sims 2: Pets holds residence at six with flagship 360 shooter Gears of War further down.
Finishing up our Tony Blackburn-style Christmas run-down, Midway's move tie-in Happy Feet is at eight, the excellent Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy is manning the number nine block fort and THQ's money-raking Cars rounds things up at number ten.
Reliable sources close to Nintendo have told CVG that Super Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption on Wii, and Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass on DS will not see light of day until Christmas 2007, which could mean anything from October to December.
CVG called Nintendo about the delays, and was told us: "We never confirmed a date for Super Mario Galaxy, but I can confirm that Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3 and Phantom Hourglass will all release in 2007. We can't confirm an exact release date for any of these titles at this time."
This is disappointing news for Nintendo fans, but it's not all bad. The Q1 2007 release lists for the DS and Wii boast some great titles.
We just hope that Nintendo can get enough titles out to keep Wii Remotes and touch screens busy over the typically quiet summer period.

Officials from inXile Entertainment (The Bard’s Tale) have announced that the company has acquired the console development rights for the popular Flash game Line Rider, and that versions for both the Nintendo DS and Wii are expected to ship in Spring 2007.
Described by inXile's chief executive officer Brian Fargo as “a fully animated Etch-A-Sketch”, Line Rider was first launched on the internet on September 23, 2006, and has since gone on to attract over 15 million viewers and become the source of over 11,000 video posts on popular video community site YouTube.
"I have been around the interactive entertainment industry long enough to have seen similar phenomenon like Tetris and Bejeweled become massive international hits, and Line Rider has all the elements to do the same," noted Fargo, who added that the game “will be perfect for the Nintendo DS and Wii.”
According to the title's original creator Bostjan Cadez, Line Rider is a "toy" that allows players to construct their own track filled with as many ramps, hills, and jumps as they can imagine utilizing a pencil tool. Once the player is done creating their course, they can send a virtual sledder down the route until he wipes out.
"Line Rider began its life as a project I did for illustration class," commented Bostjan Cadez, who created Line Rider in his native Slovenia. "As much as people see it as a game I think of it as a toy because there is no score and no one wins or loses while playing Line Rider. I'm looking forward to working with inXile entertainment on the new Nintendo DS and Nintendo Wii versions as they will bring added gameplay and features."
The last time that we saw SNK and Capcom together in the same game was SNK's take on the SNK vs. Capcom fighting game, which was trash. Sorry, I don't want to mince words on this subject. I can't even use the catchphrase "unadulterated fun", because it wasn't anywhere close to the fun of adultery. The game sucked and whoever was involved in the project should hang their head in shame. Having said that, the franchise known as SNK vs. Capcom has once again resurfaced, but as a follow-up to the massively popular Card Fighter's Clash game that appeared on the Neo Geo Pocket platform several years ago. This time around, the title is on a system that's perfectly suited to the style of gameplay that it offers, namely the Nintendo DS.
Like the first two titles, Card Fighters pits two players against each other in a heated card battle game featuring characters from the Capcom and SNK universe. However, everything about the old titles has been changed in the DS rev. For instance, you can now have up to eight character battle cards on the field at the same time, and each of them have HP (Defense) and BP (Offense) points. Secondly, there are force orbs that are used when bringing out your characters. At the beginning of each game, you start with 3 colorless orbs, so you initially your weakest characters will be summoned first. Once you have these characters out, every turn that they're on the field, they'll generate more force orbs, which means that players will generally stick with a few colors instead of all five that can be selected from. This also prevents people from bringing out their most powerful cards from the get-go. You can, however, discard cards to generate more force orbs or let them generate it actively or passively. The different force orbs in the game don't seem to have any inherent weakness or strengths towards each other, so the only time these force elements come into play is when you have to build your card deck. Along with the force elements are the individual abilities that many cards possess. Unlike the NGPC versions of the game, these abilities need to be fed more force orbs in order to become active, which balances out some of the more powerful cards very well. As an example, Trish's card comes with a Roundtrip ability, which can lower or raise her attacking power, but you have to feed that ability two more force orbs if you want to use it. If you don't, then it won't activate. Later on in the game, you'll receive an Evil Ryu and Akuma card, both of which have a ridiculously high attacking power, which can be boosted even more if you feed it enough orbs, but the cost of the ability itself is so high that it may not be worth it.
During the player's turn, you can choose to attack or wait, which brings up several strategies that will be necessary to win during the later stages of the game. You see, attacks force characters to become inactive during the opponent's turn, which means you can't defend at all. So, if you have two character cards going up against two other cards, if you attack with both of them, you'll be left completely defenseless during the opponent's turn. This actually turns out to be one of the game's most glaring flaws, and one that I hope is fixed if the game is ever localized for America. Basically, whoever chooses to go first is allowed a free hit on their opponent provided that they can get their characters out with the initial 3 force orb granted. If you're able to get enough characters out, you can easily knock off 50% of an opponent's lifebar in a single turn before they can do anything! Sure, the player who goes last starts off with 4 force orbs instead of 3, but the bonus is so small that only an idiot would choose to go second in the game.
We spent most of our time in the story mode, where you control a young boy as he climbs up the Card Battle Towers. There are actually two of them in the game; one for Capcom and one for SNK, and you actually have a lot of traveling between the two. The initial floors are easy and battles are for the most part a matter of who can get the most cards out first, but later on, as you get better cards and as your opponent plays smarter, it's not uncommon to see full 8 on 8 card battles going on. One downside to story mode is that you have to do quite a lot of fetch quests in order to progress. For instance, you'll have to find a specific character card from one of the NPCs roaming around the tower in order to get by another character, or you may have to get several different cards at once. The problem is that this isn't Pokemon, with its varied environments, it's just a freaking tower that looks the same floor, after floor, after floor. Probably the biggest strike against the game is the lack of Wi-Fi play, which this game is begging for. You have local multiplayer against another player, but there's no shared gaming, and good luck finding someone to play with.
With all the stuff Card Fighters does right there's an equal amount of wrong to bring the game back into mediocrity. Yes, the art is awesome and the overall game is fun to play, but the brokenness of the core game system and the lack of single player and multiplayer options makes it a game that's best purchased at bargain bin prices.

EA's Tokyo development studio is working on a DS version of Theme Park, the publisher has confirmed.
The latest incarnation of the popular fairground simulation will, as ever, allow you to create your dream-park and fill it with stomach-churning rides, tacky shops, and 'Butlins' sideshows. It's a familiar description of an old franchise, but EA believes the DS can bring a new, intuitive approach to the series via the touch-screen interface.
"Theme Park is one of EA's long standing properties, and we are excited to breathe new life into the series by bringing it to the NDS platform for the first time ever," said Stan Chow, general manager of EA Japan. "Taking advantage of the unique controls in the NDS, we are able to create an easy-to-pick-up game that will have the depth to satisfy fans of the series, and also be accessible to lighter and new gamers with its user-friendly controls."
Sony may be trailing Nintendo in the handheld sector, but there is one area were Sony clearly dominates—fancy, expensive cases within which to carry your portable of choice. From Emilio Pucci to Porter to Yoshida to Puma, the number of options a fashion conscious PSP owner has is remarkable.
Now, Nintendo is getting into the game, partnering with United Arrows to release a series of pricey DS Lite cases from Briefing, Whitehouse Cox, and United Arrows sub-brand Beauty & Youth. These handsome leather and suede cases range from 8400 yen ($71 USD) to 16800 yen ($142 USD) and are worth every single penny. Or yen. Label whore that I am, I'll humbly request a review sample of each.

Nintendo has confirmed that it is developing new software to take advantage of interoperability between DS and Wii – and that it is hopeful of bringing it to UK retail in 2007.
Speaking exclusively to MCV, DS product manager at Nintendo James Honeywell said that a link-up between the two consoles would prove a key factor in pushing sales of both formats.
Last month, websites reported hands-on trials with the first fruits of DS/Wii development, Pokemon Battle Revolution, which is yet to be given a UK release date. But Honeywell confirmed that Nintendo is working on many more cross-platform titles.
“You will definitely see Wii and DS interoperability as soon as we have it finished,” said Honeywell. “We haven’t made any announcements over specific software for connectivity, but there are definitely a number of exciting things in creation which we want to bring to market as soon as possible. We’re hopeful that will be next year.”
Honeywell also took the opportunity to distance DS/Wii connectivity from the bi-console connectivity offered by the platform holders’ rivals, stating that any Wii/DS link-up would continue “Nintendo’s ethos of fun and play”.
“Our competitors might offer connectivity between formats, but it concentrates on media capabilities, rather than the fun and interaction you’ll get when you bring our two consoles together,” he added.
“For example, the connectivity between Xbox 360 and PC is very much based in streaming video and other media. The link-up between Wii and DS will be much more about offering new forms of gameplay, fun and interaction. It will offer yet another new set of experiences for the whole family.”
It seems that with each platform Megaman makes an appearance on, the story shifts further and further into the future. The Megaman X series were placed after the original series of games, and then the Zero and Battle Network games are supposedly after the X series have finished. Now we have the latest Megaman title, called Ryuusei No Rockman (Megaman Star Force), which happens a while after the events of the last Battle Network game on the GBA.
Instead of starring featuring Lan and his Netnavi, we have a new lead role in Subaru, and this time he's not equipped with a Netnavi at all. Instead, his companion is an FM called Warlock. What's an FM? Basically think of a sentient being that lives in the radio waves. Any way, when Subaru and Warlock merge, they transform into the lovable, cuddly Megaman that everyone knows and loves. Netnavis, FMs, they're pretty much all the same when you look at it, really. Three years after the disappearance of his father, Subaru has turned into quite the anti-socialite, and even his companions from school can't convince him to come out of his shell. One night, while looking at the stars, Subaru decides to use his father's Visualizer, and comes into contact with Warlock for the first time.
The basic foundation of the game has changed greatly compared to Battle Network, however. Similar to BN, Star Force's combat is played out on a grid, only this time it's presented in full 3D from a 3rd person perspective. Additionally, Megaman cannot move back and forth anymore, only from left to right. I don't know why this was done, but perhaps it was to make things easier to manage while in battle. Moving on, instead of the Battlechips that Megaman could use, he now has Battle Cards, which can be selected with the touch screen during each battle. The card system is actually quite easy to figure out; there's a gauge on the right side of the screen that goes up while you're fighting enemies. Once it's full, you can press the L or R buttons to bring up the card menu screen to select more cards. You can choose from six cards at a time initially, but the maximum you can carry at once depends on the type of cards that you choose. Despite the changes, the game plays fairly similar to the Battle Network games. Since you can't move around a lot, attacks are sometimes more difficult to avoid, so you can always use the handy Shield option to weather an assault. The downside is that Shield is only active for a limited time, so you can't turtle in one spot for too long.
Star Force uses a mixture of 2D and 3D graphics; 2D for the overworld and 3D for battles and it does a good job for the most part. Personally, I think the 2D graphics look a hell of a lot better than the visuals during battle. The sprites are just the right size, and the animation is plentiful, so Subaru and the rest of the cast can convey a range of emotions throughout the game. The 3D graphics are average at best, but it seems that there isn't enough detail added to the models to give them a clean look, especially with the enemies. The Little Macs look like rectangles most of the time. Not everything looks bad though; the special abilities you acquire in the game look really good and are wouldn't look out of place in a Final Fantasy game.
The best addition to the game is the Wi-Fi and wireless play, which allows you to trade Brother Band (a cute name for Broadband, I suppose) information between players. Wireless play allows you to trade Battle Cards and actually do battle with each other, but with Wi-Fi you're limited to only trading Brother Band information and sending e-mails. Since the game is aimed towards kids, you can create your very own avatar as well as filter out any information that you don't want seen.
Although the game initially seems very similar to the Battle Network games, there are enough changes to make the gameplay a totally different experience from the GBA games. The 3D graphics aren't going to blow your minds, but the underlying gameplay is solid and really addictive, especially if you were a fan of the Battle Network series. As a bonus, those with the BN games lying around can unlock secret items by booting Star Force with a BN cartridge in the NDS' GBA slot. Look for a more detailed hands-on review soon!...
Nintendo on Wed. announced that it will drop Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl to U.S. retail on Apr. 22.
The two titles are the latest installments in the best-selling Pokemon franchise.
New features in the game include a new region called Sinnoh, new Pokemon, and Pokemon transfer to the Game Boy Advance via the GBA game slot on the Nintendo DS.
"After recently celebrating its 10th anniversary, the Pokemon franchise continues to get stronger," says George Harrison, Nintendo of America's senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications. "These two new titles represent the best that Pokemon has to offer, and a great opportunity for Game Boy users to upgrade to Nintendo DS."
Pokemon games have sold 155 million units worldwide to date. Initial sales for Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl broke sales records in Sept.
The Nintendo DS is the current handheld market leader at over 21 million units sold worldwide. Titles include Yoshi's Island DS, Elite Beat Agents, and Brain Age.
Leather; it comes from cows (mostly), it’s good for making shoes, wallets, jackets and now, DS cases too. Although there are already plenty of carry case solutions out there for the DS, none of them have the Nintendo stamp of Nintendoness on them, but these new leather ones do (as well as that cool little leather stamp of leatheryness). A partnership between Nintendo and United Arrows has reaped a full line of DS cases in both leather and suede flavours.
The cases will be made available in Japan to begin with, costing between 8400 yen (37 quid) to 16800 yen (73 quid). So far, a European release date has not been confirmed. The mature design will no doubt be a hit with Nintendo’s new older converts; younger gamers however may be put off by the ‘a little bit like granny’s purse’ stylings. Game loving leather fetishists (they must exist somewhere) will probably just be glad that they can now combine their two favorite hobbies.
Get ready to take on challenging adversaries and restore peace to the world of Mana in the latest installment of the legendary Mana series. Children of Mana launches exclusively on the Nintendo DS across Europe on 12th January 2007.
Square-Enix, the makers of Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy, brings Children of Mana to the Nintendo DS featuring all the characteristic artwork, soundtracks and multiplayer functions that fans of the Mana series already know and love. Set on the island of Illusia where the legendary Mana Tree grows, players must prepare to embark upon various missions to restore peace to the world.
Ten years ago, chaos almost took over the world of Mana. Legend says, however, that a boy and a girl saved the world using a legendary sword. Now the land is threatened with danger from a most unlikely source, and the “Children of Mana” must rise to defeat evil before it consumes the very heart of their world.
Players must select one of four different characters, Ferrik, Tamber, Poppen or Wanderer, who each have different strengths and weaknesses. Once a character is chosen, players equip them with weapons and magical gems to help them traverse treacherous battlefields and mysterious dungeons.
When venturing out of Mana Village, players can be accompanied by one of eight elemental spirits. Each of these spirits have a unique magic power which can be used to assist players in battle. Players can take along Salamander to use blistering fire magic, or Luna to use the arcane powers of the moon – but choose wisely, as each spirit will have a different impact in battle.
Players have three different types of missions they can choose to undertake. Scenario Quests must be completed to move the game story forward. Players can also accept personal requests from the residents of Mana Village, or visit Dud Services an adventuring “agency” that offers players various quests with rewards for successful completion. These missions can range from finding a particular object to defeating all enemies in a dungeon.
Players can select from up four different types of weapons (depending on game progression) to use in battle: the sword, flail, bow, or hammer. Each weapon has its strengths and weaknesses, allowing for a variety of tactics on the battlefield. Once a weapon type is unlocked, players can purchase upgraded versions of each weapon in the village shop. If they are lucky, players may find a powerful weapon on the battlefield, or receive one as a reward for completing a mission.
One of the key features of Children of Mana is multiplayer mode, where up to four players can play together in the same game (each player requires a copy of the game) via the Nintendo DS Wireless function. Players can cooperate with each other to defeat powerful enemies, or compete against each other to obtain rare items.
Children of Mana launches across Europe on 12th January 2007 for the estimated retail price of around £29.99.

Pokémon will be taking over the lives of fans once again when the latest in the series, Pokémon Diamond and Pearl on DS, arrives in the US on April 22 next year, and those who pre-order at participating stores will get a limited-edition Pokémon stylus.
The pre-sell styluses will feature brand-new Pokémon from the new game, but we reckon you'll have to be quick off the mark, with the inevitable high demand could render them scarce.
Players who've already poured hours of their life into training Pokémon in the GBA will be pleased to know that you will be able to transfer your winning team over to the new adventure, at some point, using the GBA slot on the DS.
A European release has yet to be announced, but if you're really desperate for it you can always import, being as DS software is - for those who don't already know - completely region-free.
'Twas a starry night of old that Nintendo did announce a European release date of 9th February for Magical Starsign. So, yesterday, in common speak.
It's an interstellar role-playing game for the DS, where players will be tasked with venturing to the ends of the Universe in search of a missing teacher and fellow students from the Will-o-Wisp magical academy.
Developer Brownie Brown is keen to utilise the the unique features of the DS, relying heavily on the stylus for player-input, whilst also offering Wi-Fi support for up to six players. Wirelessly you can enjoy the Amigo Dungeon where you can earn special rewards, or enter "Tag Mode," where you can grow unique "Egg" characters that hatch over time.
It seems we're largely in familiar RPG-mechanic territory here; your male or female protagonist will follow the story across the galaxy, battle monsters, level up and buy new gear.
The game's interesting twist comes from the "Magical Starsigns" themselves. Each character is linked to a particular planet by their Sign, which will determine the type of magic they use. The strengths and weaknesses of these will be dictated by the planets' positions in the solar system; becoming weaker when your planet is far away, and stronger as your Sign moves into prominence. However, monsters too will feel these effects, and the secret to mastering the game will be an ever-changing battle plan.
Fights themselves will work around a "Rank" system, which will allow two choices for attack. Using a wheel-menu and the DS stylus, players from the front rank will choose to assault individual characters either magically or physically, whilst players in the rear can attack multiple targets, but will be limited to magical offensives.
Hopefully all of this will make for a highly entertaining and tactical experience when the game launches across Europe on 9th February.
The DS continues to dominate the Japanese all-formats charts, with 14 titles in the top twenty exclusive to the Nintendo handheld.
Only two Wii titles feature in the top ten, with the high-profile Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess dropping out of the top twenty all together.
Two Pokemon titles sit at the top of the charts, with Pokemon Diamond selling over 123,000 units and Pokemon Pearl another 97,000 copies, according to Media Create.
The top seven titles in the charts are all DS games, including Kirby Squeak Squad at number three and New Super Mario Bros. at number five.
At number eight is Wild Arms 4 for the PlayStation 2, while Wii Sports and Pokemon Battle Revolution are the only two games for Nintendo's new home console, at nine and ten, respectively.
Remember a few years ago when the "All Your Base" phenomenon briefly transformed retro gaming into an ironic obsession that all the hipsters wanted a piece of? Well now a newer game seems to be getting the Internet flash overexposure treatment, and the hipsters are on standby.
The "Phoenix Wrong" phenomenon actually started in July, when Newgrounds member AshfordPride posted the first in a hilarious four-part series of Flash videos featuring Phoenix Wright characters performing widely known pop culture quotes (trust us, it's funnier than it sounds). The phenomenon has only really taken off in the past few months, with copycats making dozens of "Phoenix Wrong" tribute animations of varying quality. The lot of them have been collected on an "official" web site complete with comics, fanart and even a tutorial (PDF) on how to make your own.
Whether or not this fad continues to grow or goes the way of other passing memes is largely up to you, the internet. We trust you will choose wisely.
When Chris Kohler starts thinking aloud, panic shoots through the interlaced tubes of the 'net and spreads like a virus. And now look what you've done, Mr. Kohler. You've made the Pokefans cry.
The story: Kohler noticed that in the blitz of press releases regarding Pokemon Diamond and Pearl in the U.S., local multiplayer was mentioned, but not the WiFi play that had Pokemasters everywhere drooling. And lo did the speculation begin -- and a legion of sites leaped onto the bandwagon with full force.
But take heart! Nintendo confirmed to GameLife that WiFi play would in fact be preserved for the U.S. releases of Diamond and Pearl, so everyone is free to take a breath and untangle their twisted knickers, for all is well with the Pokemon. Now all you have to worry about is waiting for April.
From the makers of Nintendo's English training software Eigo ga Nigate na Otona no DS Training: Eigo Zuke, comes a virtual guitar application for the Nintendo DS™. Plato's Hiite Utaeru DS Guitar M-06 allows you to control a guitar, with 120 built-in chords, three plucking variations of each.
The chords are navigated with the d-pad, while you use the stylus to strum via the touch screen. You can chose from 20 songs to strum along with or just play freely on your own. 18 song are available in printed form, bundled with the software.
Original soundtrack to the Nintendo DS game "Pokemon Diamond & Pearl" Directed by Junichi Masuda, Tsuyoshi Ichinse and Hitomi Sato. Digitally remastered.

Nintendo Co.'s Nintendo DS swept Japan sales charts to outsell new console offerings in the territory.
Media Create Co. on Fri. reported that the DS sold 319,708 units from Dec. 11 to Dec. 17. The number of units sold is nearly three times the closest hardware competitor, Nintendo's Wii console.
In addition, the DS ranked seven titles in top ten software sales in the same period. Leading the charts are Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl at No. 1 and No. 2 respectively. Incumbent action game New Super Mario. Bros continues an impressive run at No. 6.
The Nintendo DS is the best-selling handheld hardware in global markets at over 21 million units sold. The touch-screen handheld was the No. 1 selling hardware in the U.S. in Nov. and continues to sell out in retail stores due to holiday demand.
New titles for the DS include Elite Beat Agents, Yoshi's Island DS, and Final Fantasy III.
If you haven’t done so already be sure to check out the previously released trailer right here, then once that’s out of the way position your clicking device over the link below and prepare yourself for some awesome screenshots and character art.
As reported in the above article, Revenant Wings tells the story of Vaan and Panelo, two of the main characters from FFXII. Vaan is 18 years old in the game, and has just fulfilled his dream of getting his own plane. He keeps himself free of politics and family life and travels the skies as an air pirate. The 17-year-old Panelo serves as his navigator.
If you’re anywhere near as excited about this title as we are we know you’ll be sure to check back regularly for more updates just as soon as we get our grubby mitts on them, but for now, enjoy!
PC World is running a great retrospective on videogame consoles, looking all the way back to Atari's pong. The best part is, they're doing it via television ads for the systems. The article features highly entertaining blipverts for Pong, the Fairchild, the VCS, the 2600, the Intellivision, the Odyssey, Vectrex, Colecovision, the Atari 5200, and many, many more. From the article:
"Gamers were tiring of PONG consoles, and Fairchild Instrument and Camera's Channel F console offered a fresh new alternative. It featured programmable 'videocarts' containing ROM chips and code, as opposed to the dedicated circuits that the Magnavox Odyssey's plug-in cards used. The cartridge concept emerged as an industry standard, and is still used in handheld gaming devices today."
The charts are in and the Wii and PS3 seem to be selling in nice amounts, it will be more interesting in a few months when theres no worldwide shortage of console hardware:
Heres the charts:
- DS Lite: 319,708 up - 10,078 (3.25%)
- Wii: 108,237 up - 22,798 (26.68%)

Famitsu's packed with new goodies from Sim City DS that have us yearning for the game. And who can resist tiny Sim Santa and his cute little reindeer?
The new stuff looks to largely concern Save the City mode, which thrusts the player into a real city and offers them challenges to solve, from earthquakes to snarled traffic and hey, even UFOs. Also -- and our loose translation may be incorrect -- it looks as though fires in your city can be handled by blowing into the microphone. But lots of fire stations can help prevent fires, so build carefully to avoid puffing away into the mic.
In a move that is sure to delight and confuse the hell out of a large number of children this holiday season, LucasArts and TT Games have announced that Santa Clause can be unlocked for play in LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy. There's no word yet on Rudolph.
We'll let the email from LucasArts speak for itself, because it's awesome. Enjoy.
Ever wonder how Santa Claus manages to work his way down chimneys way too small for him? Or how he seems to stop time in order to visit all of the world's good boys and girls every Christmas morning? LucasArts and TT Games know the answer: Santa Claus is a Jedi Knight whose amazing Force powers allow him to pull off such spectacular feats. A long time ago, he came to us from a galaxy far, far away to exile himself from the Jedi purge led by Darth Vader. (No... that's not official canon.)
But what would have happened if jolly ol' Saint Nick had stuck around to assist the Rebellion? Find out by creating him in LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy. Here's how:
Step 1: At the Mos Eisley Cantina, enter the following two codes:
CL4U5H (for Santa hat and red clothes)
TYH319 (for white beard Extra)
Step 2: Go to the Character Customizer and create the proper costume. Use a human head, the appropriate red clothing...and don't forget the red cap! Santa can wield the weapon of your choice -- we recommend the green or red lightsaber to seasonally complement his shiny red duds. (Remember, the color of his lightsaber decides whether his Force powers are naughty or nice.)
Step 3: In the Extras menu, activate Disguise 3.
Step 4: Enter the character-based level of your choice in Free Play.
Step 5: Spread holiday cheer to a galaxy in pieces.
Eager Pokémon fans anxious to taste the first proper DS games in the series may be wondering how long it will be until the new duo arrives. If the latest information out of Nintendo's American arm is anything to go by, they could be in for a wait.
Nintendo said this week that Pokémon Diamond and Pearl would be out for the DS in North America on 22 April. Tack on a few months for localisation and Europeans could find themselves waiting until summer to see what the fuss is about.
And there is a lot of fuss. The new instalments in the decade-old series have sold nearly 4 million copies in Japan, bolstering the already impressive momentum of the DS.
There are questions about how complete the game will be when it arrives here. Wired points out that the press released for the US version of the game goes to pains not to mention anything to do with online play, which is included in the Japanese editions. Despite the omission, Nintendo told Kikizo that it is "a full WiFi game".
Nintendo will be keeping a keen eye on importers after Easter. Previous Game Boy Advance editions have been too popular with some ardent fans for Nintendo's liking, resulting in the company threatening local importers if they continued to sell it. With a rabid fanbase not satisfied with the piecemeal Pokémon Mysterious Dungeon games for Game Boy Advance and DS, there's every chance that the proper DS instalments could be a big hit before they officially arrive. Nintendo is prepared.
"We in no way condone the importing of games into territories other than where they are supposed to be sold," Nintendo's Robert Saunders told Kikizo.
"As in the past, if deemed necessary we will issue cease and desist letters to retailers whom we know are selling imported games not intended for sale within the EEA. Nintendo rigorously protects its worldwide trademarks and in doing so ensures fair play in the market for all retailers."
Although the question of a Christmas number one has little meaning in Japan, where the main gift giving period occurs later than in the West, the market has nevertheless behaved in a similar manner with older mass market titles reasserting themselves at the top of the charts.
The week is unusual in that although only one title sold above 100,000 units the sales for the rest of the top ten were remarkably even, with multiple games sharing the expanded business of the week. The top sellers were the two Nintendo DS Pokemon games, with the dual SKU title now having sold around 3.5 million copies in Japan alone.
Nintendo’s latest Kirby game (to be known in the West as Kirby Squeak Squad) also saw a resurgence in sales, along with New Super Mario Bros. and Sega’s Oshare Majo Love and Berry aimed at young girls. Interestingly this is the only week all year when a Touch! Generations title has not be in the Japanese top ten.
The highest new entry of the week was a DS entry in ChunSoft’s core Mystery Dungeon series, one of the few games in the franchise which does not use a cross company license from Nintendo or Square Enix. The latest in the Wild Arms role-playing series also performed well at number eight, as did Pokemon Battle Revolution – the first major new release since the launch of the Wii and its first online title.
Western gamers though may be surprised to find that The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess has charted only at number thirty-three, while the only other Wii titles outside the top ten are Wii Play at number twelve, Wario Ware: Smooth Moves at number thirty-six and anime license Bleach Wii at number fifty.
However, the software to hardware sales ratios still remain largely the same as during the launch week, with Nintendo again only managing to ship around another 100,000 consoles this week. Stock has been similarly limited for the PlayStation 3, which has only two titles in the top fifty: Motor Storm at number thirty-five and Ridge Racer 7 at number forty-nine.
As is by now commonplace, the Nintendo DS was the best selling hardware of the week by a considerable margin, with a total of 319,866 unit sales. The Wii was next at 108,237 units, followed by the PlayStation 3 at 70,942, the PSP at 48,962 and the PlayStation 2 at 37,730 units.
Just a reminder for everyone that the DCemu Annual Award's final round is almost over.
All voting will end on Christmas Day (2 more sleeps), which should give you time to decide who and what will get your valubale votes. Remember each and every vote counts so participate to get your favorites to win!
Normmatt has released an update of his NDS emulator.
Here's the quote from his site:
Well, it’s been a long, hard road since we started working on DeSmuME back in April. And now you too can enjoy the fruits of our labor.
So what’s new? The main things that were done were rewrites to the code(it’s now 100% C code, compiles and runs on 64-bit compilers, and is almost big endian safe), FAT/CompactFlash emulation, framebuffer emulation, sound emulation, backup memory emulation, and save states.
Anyways, the source, windows binary, and linux binary are all available on the downloads page. Merry Christmas

Alekmaul has released the first public beta of his new Amstrad 6128 Emulator for the DS called AmeDS, heres the translated whats new/info:
Here the adaptation of a Amstrad emulator for DS!
It is an adaptation, at the beginning, of Caprice32 of Ulrich Doewich (http://sourceforge.net/projects/caprice32/). Then, the emulator followed much modification to try to make it faster, thing to which I am not for the not arrived moment…
Presentation
Amstrad CPC 464 is a micro-computer of the range Amstrad CPC, with posting colors, comprising 64 KB of RAM, 32 KB in ROMANIAN and using the language Locomotive BASIC 1.0, considered by some impassioned the best BASIC having ever existed.
Amstrad CPC 6128 is an evolution of Amstrad CPC 464 inside the range of Amstrad CPC. It had the same Z80 processor to 4 MHz, but was equipped with 128 KB read-write memory (including 64 KB of memory paginated) instead of 64 KB, and 48 KB read-only memory instead of 32 KB. In more it laid out of a disk drive 3 inches whose capacity could go up to 178 KB per face, much faster than the cassette player, and integrated a language BASIC in read-only memory. It was delivered with diskettes comprising two versions of the utility and operating system CP/M (CP/M 2.2 and CP/M3+) many.
Derived from the CPC 464, the CPC 6128 had in practice less free read-write memory for the user than his predecessor. On the one hand the 128 KB of RAM actually consisted of 64 KB of paginated memory, on the other hand its operating system charged the pilot of the disk drive in addition to the pilot of the cassette player.

will not hang up the next time when user re-enter the game.
We're thinking this mod took some inspiration from a recently-released Microsoft game? Regardless of where it draws inspiration, it's one of the coolest mods we've seen for Nintendo's handheld. The process by which the mod is created is shown in a chronological retelling through many pictures. With the glowing skull being the end product, we think we wouldn't mind giving this a try on our DS Phat. As for trying it on a DS Lite, we don't think we've got the heart.
CrocoDS is a very impressive CPC 6128 emulator for NDS developed by Redbug.
Most games are already fully playable with sound. I've been able to play Crafton & Xunk (aka Get Dexter), one of my amstrad favourites.
0.5a features:
- full mapping of keyboard.
- New menu.
- load disk with or without autoload.
- Realtime for most of the games.
- overscan screen display.
- Press R to scroll up / down the screen.
- stereo sound (pretty crappy)
- roms can be stored in the root, ROMS or AMES directory
- zip roms suported.
next release should have new keyboard, save states support and games compatibility improved
How to play :
* SELECT to get the menu
* *.ds and *sna files must be in the root of your flashcard.
* Use the stylus to type on the amstrad keyboard
thanks Metaluna for the news.

Tales of the Tempest, the first Tales title for the DS concerns Caius, a boy with the ability to unleash the beast inside him, and his quest to find his true parents. The game is presented in 3D and uses a battle system similar to Tales of Rebirth.
Enemies and allies are all on 3 lines, with the player switching between them at will. The big feature of this game is the ability for certain characters to transform into werewolves, gaining extra power and speed at the cost of techniques.

Satoru Iwata has announced plans to bring the DS, and Wii to Korea. The DS Lite will be hitting Korean streets very soon, launching on January 18th. This is the first time Nintendo will be releasing a Korean-language console.
Korea has a massive online gaming market right now, but Nintendo doesn’t have any big plans to compete in that arena. Mr. Iwata stated that he is just looking to release the DS at first, and create a new entertainment culture in the country. Time will tell if the Koreans will be interested in what the DS has to offer.
Koreans can expect the Wii late next year…
“We will begin sales after localization is complete. We plan to actively support Korean game software developers who have great expertise in developing online games and support their advances into foreign markets.” - Satoru Iwata
Nintendo has also begun to develop games with Korean game developer Nexon. No futher details were released at this time.

German site GameFront has apparently been pillaging all the Revenant Wings images they could get their hands on, for they've collected a veritable trove of shots, from gameplay screens to mind-blowing concept art.
Major retail website Amazon has announced that the 2006 holiday season was "its best ever", with more than 4 million items being sold on December 11th, the firm's busiest day of the year, and Nintendo's DS Lite topping its game hardware sales.
The company also commented briefly on its Amazon Customers Vote promotion, in which 1,000 Xbox 360s were sold in 29 seconds, but overall, highlighted the Nintendo DS Lite in white, pink and black as its top game hardware seller, also mentioning the PlayStation 2 and the Xbox 360 as strong sellers.
According to Amazon, video games "were a customer favorite again this year", with New Super Mario Bros. and Brain Age for the Nintendo DS and Madden Football for multiple platforms topping the company's bestsellers list - no specific sales amounts were revealed however.
Finally, over all top software titles, the company singled out pre-orders for the World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade expansion as one of its major sellers, alongside The Sims 2: Pets and art package Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.
On the peak day this season, Amazon's worldwide fulfillment network shipped over 3.4 million units, and the company shipped to over 200 countries this year. "We are truly grateful to our customers,” said Jeff Bezos, founder and CEO of Amazon.com. "Happy holidays and happy new year to all from Amazon.com employees around the globe."

Well folks, it’s been tough, but I think it’s finally ready…
Today, I present to you:
Lemmings DS v3, an open-source port of the Lemmings game engine for the Nintendo DS, written in C++. (Based off the Amiga version.)
Lemmings DS Builder v3, an open-source Lemmings DS level editor for Windows, written using the Allegro library.
Lemmings DS Custom Level Utility, an open-source utility for attaching levels to a Lemmings DS Rom so they can be played on hardware.
These, and their associated source code, can all be found in the LemProject Downloads section in the panel to the right.
I’m afraid I can’t offer you all of the original Lemmings levels yet (they’re not even slightly compatible), but you’ve got everything you need to start making your own levels. I’ve begun writing some documentation in the LemProject Documentation. Head to the MrDictionary.net forum to share your created levels with other Lemmings players, and to discuss additions and revisions to the code!

This week's Media Create sales charts tell, once again, the story of Nintendo DS dominance in Japan. Here are the top 10 from Media Create.
1. Pokémon Diamond (DS) 209,379 / 2,329,227
2. Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops (PSP) 178,370 / new
3. Pokémon Pearl (DS) 164,670 / 1,931,445

9. Wii Play (Wii) 137,495 / 439,323
10. Jump Ultimate Stars (DS) 134,551 / 484,529
Each year, NCL gives a gift to Platinum members of Japan's Club Nintendo (Platinum members can be spotted by their metallic coating as it shines in the winter sun -- and by their Club Nintendo accounts, which tally more than 400 points amassed during the previous calendar year). This year's prizes are especially funky. Shiny members may choose one item from a list (of two):
a Wii remote battery flap on which Nintendo will print the owner's Mii image (Miis should be sent to Nintendo through Wii Connect before February)
a copy of Club-exclusive DS title Tingle's Balloon Fight
Both items will be delivered in the spring, with the customized Wii remote plastic scheduled for production and delivery all the way through to August 31. We opted for the Mii gift, because we're so vain.
Feel free to commence the vitriolic "Why don't we get that stuff here?" comments --NoA isn't listening.
Green Goblin has escaped from SHIELD custody and has enlisted the help of Kingpin to work on a diabolical scheme to turn the cities gang members into Oz enhanced soldiers. It’s up to the heroic Spider-Man to thwart the evil duo’s plans and make the streets of New York safe once again.

The driver of M3Simply/R4 and EZ5 was built in.
Perhaps, it doesn't operate..
It's been a great week for videos -- and now we get a peek at one of our most hotly anticipated titles, Hotel Dusk: Room 215. Unfortunately, it's not embedded here, so you'll have to go see it, but it's definitely worth a watch. Possibly even multiple watches.
On the last Friday of the year, at Hotel Dusk, anything could happen ... but on this, the last Thursday of this year, we bring you the gift of video.
The DS has lots of hit titles over in Japan, but none as big as Pokemon Diamond & Pearl. Nintendo announced today that the latest portable RPG entry in the series has sold a total of 5,000,000 units across its separate Diamond and Pearl versions. This feat comes less than three months following the 9/28 release.
As part of today's announcement, Nintendo stated that Diamond & Pearl are the best selling titles the Pokemon series as a whole has seen in Japan. We'll have to wait until some time next year to see if the success can be replicated internationally.
The figures are in for the sales of hardware in Japan for the week Dec 18th to the 24th, the sales of Wii, DS Lite and PSP are all very high, heres the numbers:
Perfect appearance, ingenious structure
Can be folded, adjust by five sect angles
Play by both left and right stero speakers
suplement microphone input
Power source volume control extend switch
We were able to ship all back order. We should have another batch in approx one week.

“I’ve released the DS plugin for wordpress (and activated it here on my own wordpress blog). I hope you all like it. A big thank you to the original Nintendo Wii plugin team who made me want to do this and provided us with great source code of their plugin! A download linky + info can be found here;”
Wordpress Nintendo DS edition is a plugin + theme for Wordpress websites (based on the original Wii Wordpress plugin by the Winksite.com team) (David Harper) that shows an interface specifically designed for Opera DS. It will automatically detect if users are using a Nintendo DS to acces your Wordpress webpage and apply a proper theme to accomodate for a small screen.
To see it in action go to my blog using your DS or using Firefox using the user agent switcher. A small image for those who do not have OperaDS (and don’t want to hassle around looking it up via FireFox’s user-agent switcher);
If you install both the original Wii plugin and this DS plugin your wordpress blog will show up correctly on both the DS and the Nintendo Wii! The theme for the DS was made so it fits fully on the top screen. That way you can use the “direct input” mode (pressing R when in overview mode with the top screen zoomed) to scroll easily without having to search for your information. More information on the page above.
“ If you don’t have a Nintendo DS you can still check out if the plugin was installed correctly. Firstly download Firefox. Then install the user agent switcher. Restart Firefox after installing the addon then go to “extra-user agent switcher-options-option”. Then to user agents in the left menu and press the add button. Now add a user agent (name/description doesn’t matter, I choose OperaDS) and fill in the “user agent” line with this; Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Nitro) Opera 8.50 [en]. Finish adding it and then select it in the “extra-user agent switcher-…” menu. Then go to your (or mine to test if the settings are correct) blog and see the magic .“

So there are video game console auctions, and then there are video game console auctions. This one would definitely fall into the latter category, boasting "Über 90 Telespielkonsolen" (over 90 video game consoles) and encompassing most of the glorious achievements and glorious failures of the video game industry. Sure fire winners include a Magnavox Odyssey, Virtual Boy, Neo Geo Pocket, Intellivision and Atari Lynx, with a NES clone thrown in there for good measure. In fact, the collection could probably be better defined by what's not included, which other than the exception of current-gen consoles is not a whole dang lot. Make sure you peep the read link for all bazillion consoles from their various angles, and if you've got a few grand laying around -- and can stomach the shipping cost from Hamburg -- why not give it a shot?
