Given that Nintendo's share price rose by more than 8 per cent on the back of rumours that it was to host a 3DS trade show a few days before the Tokyo Game Show, it makes sense that the company is to stream the since-confirmed event live on the internet to ensure details spread as quickly as possible. Several new announcements are expected, as Nintendo seeks to capitalise on the momentum it has gathered since the global 3DS price drop came into effect last month. The event, dubbed the Nintendo 3DS Conference 2011, is scheduled for 12pm local time on September 13, and will be streamed through Ustream and Nico Nico video.

The first stage of the 3DS Ambassador Programme, Nintendo's compensation to early adopters stung by the system's global price drop, is now live worldwide.
Users who bought their system and connected to the eShop download service before the price drop came into effect on August 12 are now able to download ten NES games for free. The titles in question are Super Mario Bros, Metroid, The Legend Of Zelda, Wrecking Crew, NES Open Tournament Golf, Donkey Kong Jr, Balloon Fight, Ice Climber, Zelda II: The Adventure Of Link,andMario & Yoshi.
Of course, this being Nintendo, downloading the games is a far from straightforward process. First, head to the Settings/Other section, which is all the way to the left in the eShop's main menu. From there, select Titles You've Downloaded, and scroll down past all your previous downloads where the games are listed individually.
Games have to be downloaded one by one, and after they are completed you're dropped back to the main eShop page, requiring that you start the whole process again to get the next game on the list. When all titles are downloaded, they each need to be "unwrapped" on the home screen before they are playable.
All games have an instruction manual accessible from the Home menu, but no support for save states. Nintendo has already confirmed that all ten games will eventually be released on the eShop in updated form, with save state support, and 3DS Ambassadors will be able to downloaded the upgraded versions for free.
This is just the beginning of the Ambassador Programme - early adopters will also be given ten free Game Boy Advance games, including Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3, Mario Kart: Super Circuit, Metroid Fusion, WarioWare Inc: Minigame Mania andMario Vs Donkey Kong.
The remaining games are yet to be officially confirmed butreportedly include Kirby & The Amazing Mirror and Super Mario Bros 3: Super Mario Advance 4. Nintendo is yet to confirm when it will make the remaining games available, only saying: "Delivery is scheduled to begin within the year."
Nintendo announced the Ambassador Programme on July 28, at the same time as it revealed plans to reduce the price of the 3DS in Japan by 40 per cent, and in Europe and North America by a third, after just 710,000 systems were sold worldwide in three months.
Company president Satoru Iwata would later write to early adopters, saying: "We are all too keenly aware that those of you who supported us by purchasing the 3DS in the beginning may feel betrayed and criticise this decision. We feel a strong responsibility to develop the 3DS as a platform - to ensure that, in the end, everyone is satisfied - and we will make every effort to do so."

Following confirmation of a pre-TGS 3DS show last week, Nintendo has dated the event and confirmed that it will be streamed online.
The Nintendo 3DS Conference 2011 will be held at Tokyo Big Site on September 13 at 12:00 noon (Japanese Standard Time) and be streamed via live broadcast on Nico Nico and Ustream.
The event is described as a "Nintendo 3DS new product announcement conference," which probably refers to new game reveals for the handheld but may also boost the creditability of a recent report claiming Nintendo's set to launch redesigned 3DS hardware, complete with a second analogue stick and "radically toned down" 3D visuals.

Deadly Cobra Wii v1.0 by Oibaf
Deadly Cobra is an SDL-based game similar in gameplay to the classic Nibbles or snake game. Basically the point of the game is to eat as many pebbles (in our case "Men") as possible without eating yourself or hitting a wall.
Features include both single and multiplayer modes, cool 2-D graphics and energizing music for each level.
Player 1 uses WPAD 1 or arrows keys, Player 2 uses WAPD 2 or WASD keys.
The original game was written by Jeaf Rousseau and Tom Lacaillade and ported to Wii by Oibaf.
The original project is hosted on http://deadlycobra.sourceforge.net/

[h=2]Online RPG, announced for Wii in 2008, now also headed to its successor with cross-platform play.[/h]
Dragon Quest X will be released for Nintendo's Wii U, Square Enix has confirmed.
The publisher revealed the news at a press conference in Tokyo earlier today, confirming that the next iteration of the enormously popular RPG will be headed not only to Nintendo's ageing Wii as previously announced but its successor as well.
Officially titled Dragon Quest X Mezameshi Itsutsu No Shuzoku, DQX will be an online RPG, and support cross-platform play between Wii and Wii U. Some level of 3DS connectivity is planned, though designer Yuji Hori gave few details, saying the team was thinking about a way for players to transfer their character to 3DS and share and receive data over SpotPass.
In a first for the series, it is being developed internally at Square Enix, with Hori, composer Koichi Sugiyama, and character designer Akira Toriyama all on board.
Dragon Quest X was first announced and confirmed for Wii almost three years ago, before Dragon Quest IX had even been released. The first suggestion that it could be headed for Nintendo's Wii successor came in June, when nervous Square Enix investorsraised concerns at the prospect of a game in one of Japan's most popular franchises of all time being released solely for the ageing Wii.
Square Enix CEO Yoichi Wada said the team was carrying out "technical investigations" into how to make a Wii U release possible, and with those investigations complete Nintendo's upcoming console has just been given a major boost, at least in Japan. Not only is the appearance of the next game in a series which has shipped 57 million units worldwide since 1986 sure to drive early sales of the console, but it is a ringing endorsement of Nintendo's new hardware by a major thirdparty.
No specific release date was announced - no surprise, given that Nintendo is yet to confirm its Wii U launch plans - but Dragon Quest X is due in 2012, with Square Enix planning a beta test in the near future.

Japanese 3DS sales hit 384,000 units in August, 2.6 times the system's July total.
That's according to figures from Enterbrain (via Andriasang), which pegs August as the second-best month on record for 3DS, the console having sold 430,000 units in March following its late-February launch.
The portable has topped Japan's weekly hardware sales chart since its price was reduced from 25,000 to 15,000 on August 11.
Nintendo is to hold a "3DS new product announcement conference" on September 13 ahead of the Tokyo Game Show.

The Lavalit guys have released a new of their Beatem Up for the Dreamcast, PSP, Wiz, Wii, GP2x and Dingoo:
penBOR is a continuation of the Beats Of Rage 2D game engine, which was originally
created by the wonderful folks over at http://www.senileteam.com.
History
----------------------
In 2004, Senile Team released Beats of Rage, a free beat-'em-up for DOS inspired
by SEGA's Streets of Rage series and using sprites from SNK Playmore's King of
Fighters series. The spread only by word of mouth, but it nonetheless
amassed popularity very quickly. Senile Team soon released an edit pack allowing
anyone interested to create a mod for the BOR engine.
In 2005, Kirby2000 asked Senile Team to open the source code to BOR. They
agreed, and OpenBOR was born. Development on the engine was continued by the
community, and still is to this day.
Available Platforms
----------------------
OpenBOR has a very modular and portable design inherited from Beats of Rage. Ports
to the following platforms are currently supported:
* Windows
* Linux
* Mac OS X
* Wii
* PSP
* Dreamcast
* GP2X
* GP2X Wiz
* Dingoo a320
In addition to the above, the original Beats of Rage engine (downloadable from
the Senile Team website) is available for the following platforms:
* DOS
* Playstation 2
* Xbox
* GP32
* Palmtop

AI character more tolerable to player_min_z and player_max_z, if they hit the two point vertically, they'll turn to the opposite direction instead of choosing a random direction that leads out side the screen.

Reports from the Japanese end of the internet are claiming that Famitsu magazine has the scoop on that Nintendo 3DS analog add-on we heard about last month. A page from the magazine (above) shows a rather meaty cradle hugging the sides of the stereoscopic clamshell, reportedly adding an R2 button in addition to a starboard circle pad. The plump peripheral may have been designed specifically forMonster Hunter Tri G, an unannounced (and unconfirmed) game that was leaked in the same issue.Famitsu made no mention of the reported hardware refresh that accompanied the last analog add-on rumor -- and price, release date, and official confirmation from Nintendo area still AWOL, of course.

Nintendo is to unveil a host of new 3DS games at its pre-Tokyo Game Show event next week, according to reports.
Japanese blog Hachimaki, translated by Gematsu, claims that a side-scrolling game starring Yoshi, developed by Kirby's Epic Yarnstudio Good-Feel, is on the way. A fifth Ace Attorney game featuring Miles Edgeworth will also be announced.
Also set for a reveal next week is a new game from Nintendo's internal WarioWare studio, and a new Etrian Odyssey title from Atlus. Singing synthesiser Hatsune Miku, a new project fromUmineko developer Alchemist, God Eater from Namco, and Grasshopper's The Silver Case - originally a DS title - will also be announced for 3DS.
Nintendo is also to announced Baten Kaitos: Silence Of A Mechanised Son and Mach Rider Unchained. The report also claims that Monster Hunter 3G - confirmed overnight by Famitsu - will support online play.
The platform holder will also detail improvements to the 3DS download store eShop, which will begin offering demos of 3DS games starting with Super Mario 3D Land. A release date for The Legend Of Zelda: Four Swords - confirmed at E3 to be a free download - will also be revealed.
The reports originate from 4Chan and 2Chan, and as such are to be taken with a hefty grain of salt. However, with the claim of a newMonster Hunter already confirmed, there is some truth at least in the rumours.
Nintendo's pre-TGS conference is set for September 13. In addition to Monster Hunter 3G - an expanded version of Wii title Monster Hunter Tri - Famitsu has revealed the Expansion Slide Pad, a bulky attachment which adds a second circle pad and set of trigger buttons to 3DS.

We remember playing Theme Park for hours on our Super Nintendos, but if you were more into PC gaming in the late '90s you might remember the brilliant Rollercoaster Tycoon.
The full 3D theme park sim, which has sold 11 million units since its release in 1999, lets you build a full theme park an almost overwhelming number of options and a deep rollercoaster customisation tool. Then put on your business hat and manage every aspect of your park's finances until you're successful enough to move on to the next country and do it all again.
Rollercoaster Tycoon 3D contains a new 'Coaster Story' mode, which promises to "blend together tutorials and park challenges into a cohesive and entertaining narrative".
According to Atari: "Choose your own player character and set off on a journey around the world to expand your roller coaster empire. As you progress, you'll unlock tons of unique attractions, themes, amenities and more."
The game will also have a 'Park Sandbox' mode which lets you jump in and just build a park. You'll also be able to share your park via the 3DS' "advanced networking capabilities" - whether this means StreetPass and/or full online functionality is unclear.
The game's in development at n-Space - the team often responsible for DS versions of blockbuster games such as the Call of Duty series, Goldeneye 007 and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. It's set to launch in a vague '2012'. Check out the first trailer below:

MCV laughed at the idea just last month, but if there’s one thing you know about Nintendo it’s that you never know what it will do next.
Scans of the latest issue of weekly Japanese games magazine Famitsu reveal that the rumoured second analogue stick add-on for 3DS is in fact very real.
The device, pictured, effectively cradles the entire unit and adds a second analogue control stick on the far right of the device. It also adds some quite substantial bulk to the unit.
Andrasang reports that it is called the ‘Expansion Slide Pad’. The second stick is actually smaller than the one already found on the unit.
Compatibility with Capcom’s Monster Hunter 3G has been confirmed, though it remains unclear whether the peripheral has been designed specifically for the popular action RPG series.
Monster Hunter supervisor Ryozo Tsujimoto says that the device “provides a good grip on the system”, describing it as “a secret weapon" which will allow you to play the game with the same feeling as playing Monster Hunter 3 on Wii”.

The tipster - talking to previously reliable Nintendo leak site 01.net - has listed a number of hiccups and hurdles supposedly causing problems for Nintendo's on-going development of Wii U, including claims the final hardware has been "rushed through the door".
"According to our source, it seems that the final architecture has been rushed through the door, with undesirable consequences," the 01 report reads.
Those consequences allegedly include "inadequate" streaming and wireless functionality integral to the Wii U's innovative design, the source continues, and speculation that the console's main chip set "may be a tad too cheap."
"So far, the wireless functions simply do not work at all," it continues, claiming that as a result, developers are working with a tethered controller which apparently "still does not work properly".
"Many developers are feeling lost, their progress impeded by a distinct lack of visibility, their working hours by the quasi-paced daily software updates," it's said.
01.net concludes that developers are quietly expecting a June 2012 release but that Nintendo engineers are struggling to make the architecture work in time.
Of course, this is all just rumour for now but it comes from the same source that for one tipped a second 3DS circle pad, something that has since been confirmed.
Should we be worried, readers?

A company named Thinkoptics has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Nintendo over the motion controller used with the Wii. Apparently they make a similar product named the Wavit Remote, and they've been granted patents describing its operation. 'And they've chosen the setting most likely to yield a win: the U.S. District Court of the Eastern District of Texas. Now, that's not to say that Wavit-maker Thinkoptics will get a win, but this particular court circuit tends to favor the patent holder over all else. The patent in question, U.S. Patent Number 7,796,116, is titled "Electronic equipment for handheld vision based absolute pointing system." Thinkoptics' primary argument in the case is that Nintendo had previous knowledge that the Wii would infringe based on the Trademark Office's rejection of certain claims in Nintendo-filed patents.

01net has acquired somewhat of a reputation for reliable Nintendo gossip, particularly after the recent hard-to-believe but actually very real leak of a joypad add-on for 3DS.
And the latest story to emerge from the French site is that developers are struggling with early builds of the Nintendo Wii U.
Sources apparently told the site that the machines shipped to studios so far have been “uncharacteristically rushed out of the door” and lack the internal power needed to achieve the machine’s goals.
The wireless interchange behind the device’s innovative tablet controller and the console itself is said to be unreliable and, at the moment at least, still requires a cable to operate. Even then it is still dogged by problems.
Updates are said to be arriving on a daily basis, making projects all the trickier.
Furthermore, the problems have allegedly caused Nintendo to alter its internal scheduling. A June 2012 was planned, it is said, but this is now likely to be pushed back until September.
MCV has contacted Nintendo for comment.

'Golf' from the good old Game Boy era leads another mundane week for Nintendo's US downloads update.

September 10th, 2011, 22:35 Posted By: wraggster
The US videogames retail market suffered a year-on-year decline of 23 per cent in August, according to data from the NPD group.
Revenue for the period beginning July 31 and ending August 27 was $669.9 million, down from $873.8 million in the equivalent period last year.
Physical software sales on console, portable and PC suffered the biggest loss, falling 37 per cent from $455 million in August 2010 to $285 million this year.
NPD attributes the majority of the decline to the delay of Madden NFL 2012, which was released on August 30 - two weeks later than its traditional release date.
Deus Ex: Human Revolution was the best-selling game across all formats despite being released only five days before the end of the month. There were also key digital releases that the NPD Group's data doesn't include.
"There was a lot happening outside of new physical retail as far as content is concerned," said analyst Anita Frazier. "Fruit Ninja became available to download for the Xbox 360 and a new Call of Duty map pack was available as well."
Console and portable hardware sales decreased by 12 per cent year-on-year to $249.4 million, with the Xbox 360 leading the field despite a price-cut for the PlayStation 3.
According to Gamasutra, sales of the Nintendo 3DS increased by 260 per cent over July to around 235,000 units - 195,000 units were sold in the 19 days following the price-cut.
Frazier also advised that, although physical hardware sales were down, more than half of the annual sales in the channel occur in the last four months of the year.
"Given the strong release schedule in the coming months, new physical retail sales could still be flat to slightly up once full year sales are tallied," she said.

While it was announced today that GameStop's to release a snazzy white PS3 model in the UK on November 1, the US is to get a new DSi XL colour on September 18.
It's Metallic Rose, which is "an eye-catching shade of pink with a luminous modern sheen", according to Nintendo.
"For kids eager to head back to school in style or busy adults with an appetite for on-the-go entertainment, this new colour option rolls fun and fashion into one irresistible package," the platform holder adds.
If pink's not your bag, DSi XL is also available in other colours including Bronze, Midnight Blue and Burgundy, at a suggested retail price of $169.99.

news via http://www.romhacking.net/forum/inde...pic,13226.html
I am happy to announce the official release of Final Fantasy Zz, a hard-type hack of the original Final Fantasy for the NES! Final Fantasy Zz includes both bugfixes and enhancements that will make this hack more fun and more challenging to play than the original.
Some of the enhancements include the ability to see the contents of a treasure chest without having to drop something if your inventory is full, the ability to buy 9 items at a time, new and more powerful magic spells, slightly remapped dungeons, new enemy formations and AI, improved and rebalanced classes, new equipment, and the ability to dash by holding the B button. Some of the bugfixes include fixing the INT bug for magic, fixing broken magic spells like TMPR and SLEP, fixing some cosmetic bugs, and fixing the multiple level-up bug.
This hack is recommended for people who are very experienced with the original Final Fantasy. There aren’t any cheap enemy encounters, such as Iron Golems in the Earth Cave, but if you are not careful, any battle could be your last.
This is a great hack that has taken almost four years to develop. Give Final Fantasy Zz a try! Good luck! (You’ll need it!)

----------------------
OpenBOR has a very modular and portabledesign inherited from Beats of Rage. Ports
to the following platforms are currently supported:
* Windows
* Linux
* Mac OS X
* Wii
* PSP
* Dreamcast
* GP2X
* GP2X Wiz
* Dingoo a320
In addition to the above, the original Beats of Rage engine (downloadable from
the Senile Team website is available for the following platforms:
* DOS
* Playstation 2
* Xbox
* GP32
* Palmtop

September 11th, 2011, 22:22 Posted By: wraggster

[Rich's] newest version of takes what was already good and makes it better. We looked at the original version back in May, which is built into a knockoff controller – [Rich] mentions that he got a lot of flack for defacing retro equipment and wants to set the record straight. The most notable difference between the two controllers is that the batteries are now housed inside the case. He switched over to an 850 mAh Lithium Ion battery, which takes much less room than the four AA batteries did. There is an integrated charger which connects via a mini USB jack as seen in the image above. Bother versions of the controller can be used to play emulators without rooting your Android device.
Unfortunately you won’t get to look inside the case. What we can tell you is that the build no longer uses a BlueSMiRF board , opting for a less expensive Bluetooth solution. We also know that the build is still Arduino compatible, sporting an ATmega328 chip running the bootloader. The lack of detail is because [Rich] is working to market the controller with a limited-quantity preorder. Check out his video presentation of the new version after the break.

via http://gbatemp.net/t307739-last-survivor-v2-0
No one had ever seen so much action and creativity together to give you a good feeling of pleasure, Last Survivor immerses you in the role of a person who has appeared in the middle of nowhere, mountains and deserts on one side to another, your goal is to build a home or shelter for the night away from the monsters that are scattered by such a mysterious place, an experience you could not miss. To be presented for the first Scenery Beta 2011 .
For some strange circumstances have appeared in the middle of nowhere, in an uncivilized place in which we only see mountains, deserts and snow fields s, which change every time you start a new game. The primary objective is to settle in this place, so we can take some of the ground tearing the stylus and put it where it suits you, or you can use the table to transform some of your objects in different ones, this technique makes survival much more interesting . Do not forget that you are not alone, you can find everything from scorpions paseándote or pigs to zombies or robots (the latter only in the dark), the pig is the only one who attacks you, and if you kill makes you regain life, the rest attempt to annihilate.
During the game you have a helpful menu on the top screen (which can be accessed by pressing Start), which you can see tutorials, you can put objects from one you already have (to activate this option you have to be next a table), you can organize your inventory (press the stylus in the boxes of inventory items) and you can save.
In short, your mission is to make a home well lit to ward off the creatures and get the best quality tools possible to deal with a lot of parts of the ground more quickly.
Controls:
Stylus: Take some of the ground, put an object in your inventory on the ground, attacking a living or select an option from the main menu or the one during the game.
Control Pad: Move character or moves the selection in the main menu.
A Button: Jump in the game or choose the main menu selection.
L and R Buttons: Change the object in the inventory.
Start Button: Access the top menu during the game

News via http://dsx86.patrickaalto.com/DSblog.html
DSx86 release notes
Sverx has continued improving my Smooth Scaling algorithms. This version has faster smooth scaling in all the 640-pixel wide EGA and VGA 16-color modes (640x200, 640x350, 640x400 and 640x480). The 640x480 mode is now fast enought to be used also on DS Lite (it used to be a DSi-exclusive feature), though the screen refresh will be limited to 15fps. Big thanks to Sverx for his hard work on the smooth scaling algorithms!
Here is a table of the speedups he managed to achieve on each of the resolutions and on both DS Lite and DSi. The new code is more CPU-bound than my original code, which is why DSi shows somewhat bigger improvements in the speed.
The reason the speed improvement is not constant is because the complexity of the image to show had a big impact on the speed of the original code, due to cache misses when looking up the palette values. The new code has the palette values mostly in DTCM, so it runs (roughly) at a constant speed for all types of images.
DS2x86 progress
I am still working on the paging features for DS2x86. This seems to be somewhat more difficult than I had anticipated, I have run into various problems that have taken a long time to debug, and I am still debugging a couple of weird crashes. The code seems to run 35 Page Faults properly, but after (or inside) Page Fault number 36 things go wrong and DS2x86 hangs completely. Annoyingly, when I add some more thorough debug code into DS2x86, it runs further and only begins to misbehave after Page Fault number 47. At that point my EMSPages look-up table has a wrong value for page 0x102DD000, which contains the stack. It points to physical address 0x001D5000 (which is already in use by address 0x100F7000 containing executable code), so the game crashes when it loads invalid values from stack.
So, a lot of bug fixing and debugging still ahead before the paging system will work. I am not even sure yet if I can make my physical CS:IP architecture support paging code without a major rewrite, but I'll first need to figure out the cause of the current problems to continue testing that.

Dolphin new-shadercache-uids Git 3.0-94 is released. Dolphin new-shadercache-uids is a branch of Dolphin. Dolphin is the first Gamecube emulator able to run commercial games! Dolphin is a great Gamecube(NGC) and Wii emulator. It has a partial Wii support and plays most Gamecube games. Dolphin has been changed SVN to Git recently.
Dolphin new-shadercache-uids Git changelog:
* Added safe vertex shader UIDs for debugging purposes.
* Added safe pixel shader UIDs for debugging purposes.
* Add runtime checks to make sure we aren't overoptimizing the pixel shader cache.
* Track alpha blending paramaters in the pixel shader UID.
* Various fixes and cleanups.
* Merge remote-tracking branch 'remotes/origin/master' into new-shadercache-uids
* Improve the shader UID debugging stuff and merge it to VideoCommon, effectively enabling it in D3D9 and D3D11 as well.
* Make shader ID validation optional by adding a gfx setting called "EnableShaderDebugging".
Setting this to True will enable additional checks if the shader cache misses any relevant register changes.
* Small fix to the previous commit.
* - D3D9: pass the correct API type to ValidatePixelShaderIDs
- don't load shader cache from disk in d3d9/11 if shader debugging is enabled (we won't have any info about the source shader code otherwise, etc)
- dump shader source codes on safe UIDs mismatch
Thanks to LordMark and [SS] for reporting those to me

Remember that "massive shock announcement" Pokémon firm Game Freak teased on Japanese television this weekend? Have you been spinning in your office chair at the thought of what it might be? Well we'll put you out of your misery; it's a new Pokémon game.
Japanese magazine CoroCoro has confirmed that last year's PokéPark: Pikachu's Adventure will be getting a sequel; PokéPark 2: Beyond The World, which is due for release in Japan this winter.
According to CoroCoro the follow-up will feature Pokémon from Black and White's Unova region, plus a four-player multiplayer mode.
In case you missed the original, it had players wander around a theme park attempting to complete 14 mini-games in order to collect the 14 pieces of the shattered Sky Prism.
Read more about it over on Official Nintendo Magazine.

Zelda overlord Eiji Aonuma has dropped more hints as to the direction Nintendo will take the series on its next-gen console, Wii U.
Speaking to US retail mag Game Informer, Aonuma revealed he's planning to "take advantage of [Wii U's] power" with the console's first Zelda, and he even hinted that another 3DS version is already in development.
He told the mag: "The demo that we showed at E3 was really just more of a rough idea of if all we were to do was to take a Zelda game and put it in HD, this is what it might look like.
"We're much more interested in looking at the power of the Wii U system and seeing how we can take advantage of that power to do things that we haven't been able to do in a Zelda game before....
"One of our goals with [Skyward Sword] is to be the first step in illustrating for people how the Zelda series can change and evolve."
Asked if Nintendo's started considering an original Zelda for 3DS after its update of Ocarina of Time, Aonuma said he expects to be able to do something "very interesting" on the handheld. "It will be a game in which having 3D will mean something," he teased.
Before we get ahead of ourselves however, Nintendo's next Zelda, Skyward Sword is out on November 18.

The eyebrow-raising 3DS second circle pad attachment will cost 1500 Yen (£12.30) and be released on 10th December in Japan.
Monster Hunter Tri G won't be the only game that supports it.
Nintendo has revealed five other compatible games: Resident Evil: Revelations (early 2012), Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3D (winter), Ace Combat 3D Cross Rumble (winter), Dynasty Warriors Vs (2012) and Kingdom Hearts 3D (TBC).
The 3DS second circle pad requires one AAA battery to run.
Games that support the second circle pad will display an icon showing the attachment.

Not even two Monster Hunter titles can save Nintendo from the wrath of its investors. According to a report by Reuters, Nintendo's shares fell 5 percent as the Tokyo Stock Exchanged closed on Tuesday, a clear sign that Nintendo's worries have not necessarily ended.
Nintendo's much-hyped conference featured a wave of announcements and updates on titles old and new, significant and small. The biggest of these was of course Monster Hunter. Capcom announced it plans to bring an expanded version of Monster Hunter Tri, called Monster Hunter 3G, to the system by the end of the year. Monster Hunter 4, the next major installment in the series, will arrive on 3DS at a to be determined time. Seemingly as a result of these announcements, Capcom's shares dipped 8 percent.
The report cites several analysts who effectively dismissed Nintendo's conference. "I don't think the new games will make any difference," said Mitsushige Akino, chief fund manager at Ichiyoshi Investment, told Reuters.
Japanese analysts and investors continue to demand the company change tactics, potentially even moving into development for mobile devices. So far Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has pushed back against these claims, and has repeatedly stated he doesn't feel mobile gaming has had a direct impact on Nintendo's business.
Other 3DS announcements Tuesday included a new RPG from Square Enix, a new entry in the Fire Emblem series, release dates for Mario Kart 7 and Super Mario 3D Land, and some efforts at attracting female gamers, including a pink 3DS. The company also provided updated looks at Paper Mario and Animal Crossing for the 3DS, and promised more firmware updates, including an upgraded eShop.

Nintendo didn't say so on stage during the pre-Tokyo Game Show 3DS press conference tonight, but it really is shipping that odd-looking circle pad add-on. The "extended slide pad" is up on the gaming company's Japanese home page right now, with a shipping date of December 10th and a price of ¥1500 ($19.50). There's also a list of supported games available, including Monster Hunter Tri G, BioHazard Revelations, Snake Eater 3D and more. It's powered by a single AAA battery, which our country cousins at Joystiq note probably indicates you won't be getting any extra playtime added to your 3DS by slapping this "boat" on the bottom. Check the source link below for the official info -- we'll keep our eyes peeled in Tokyo for North American release info and of course, the color matched Misty Pink edition you're already looking for.

Satoru Iwata came on stage at Nintendo's pre-Tokyo Game Show shindig and announced the 3DS will be getting a few upgrades soon. No word on any hardware changes -- yet -- but owners can expect 3D video capture as well as upgrades to the Street Pass Mii Plaza and eShop. The press conference is still ongoing, so check back for more details as they're announced or watch the live video stream (in Japanese) embedded after the break.

You heard right -- The Big N's own Satoru Iwata just announced that a "Misty Pink" Nintendo 3DSconsole would be shipping (at least in Japan) on October 20th. Funnily enough, that was just after showing a chart proving that right around half of all DS gamers are ladies. (But Iwata -- what if the dudes dig pink, too?) At any rate, no specific price was mentioned, giving us some level of certainty that no premium will be attached.

Nintendo's share price fell by 5 per cent following its 3DS press conference.
The drop leaves the company's share price at ¥ 12,290, the lowest since mid-August, when disappointing financial results caused it to plummet 21 per cent in a single day.
Nintendo's shares spiked by 8.4 per cent to ¥13,100 at the end of August after invitations to today's 3DS press conference sparked rumours of major announcements.
However, analysts and investors were not enthused by the new software, extra functionality, and "misty pink" 3DS hardware Nintendo actually unveiled.
"I don't think the new games will make any difference," Ichiyoshi Investment's Mitsushige Akino toldReuters. "Nintendo succeeded by pulling in people who weren't gamers and their needs now are no longer being filled by Nintendo - they are happy playing games on their mobile phones."
3DS hardware sold 215,000 units in the week following its price cut, but numbers have fallen by around 75 per cent in the time since.
Nintendo's share price has declined by almost 50 per cent since the start of the year.

If you’re contemplating a quadcopter build here’s a way to add stabilization hardware without breaking the bank. The BaronPilot project uses an Arduino and a Wii Motion Plus module to ensure an even keel for your flying projects. The hardware inside of the Motion Plus includes two gyroscopes, which the BaronPilot monitors for changes in your flying rig’s orientation. The project serves as a co-pilot by differentiating between movements caused by the remote control, and changes due to wind or other outside factors (like hitting the quadcopter with a stick as seen in the video after the break). It should all translate to less chance of crashing due to operator error.
You can pick up a Motion Plus for less than twenty dollars, a deal when compared to the IMU boards that we usually see in quadcopter builds which usually run more than twice that amount. It’s an I2C device which makes it easy to hook up to just about anything. This project has native support for Teensy, Arduino Nano, and Arduino clones using an ATmega328 chip. But the portability of the Arduino platform should make it easy to tweak the code for use with just about any microprocessor.

Speaking to Industry Gamers, Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg welcomed the peripheral that gives 3DS a second analogue circle pad. "It makes the hardware more relevant and compatible to the style of games we make," he said. "I don't have anything to announce in relation to that, but I think it was a great move and it opens up that platform to more styles of games

September 15th, 2011, 00:03 Posted By: wraggster
Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has again dismissed calls for the company to move into the smartphone market, saying that doing so would mean "Nintendo would cease to be Nintendo."
Iwata once again faced calls for Nintendo to turn to smartphones in a bid to revive its fortunes, after its pre-Tokyo Game Show conference, in which it announced a host of new 3DS games, caused its share price to fall by five per cent. Speaking to Nikkei, though, Iwata said that while he could see merit in such a move in the short term, it would be catastrophic in the long term.
"This is absolutely not under consideration," he said. "If we did this, Nintendo would cease to be Nintendo. Having a hardware development team in-house is a major strength. It's the duty of management to make use of those strengths.
"It's probably the correct decision in the sense that the moment we started to release games on smartphones we'd make profits. However, I believe my responsibility is not to short-term profits, but to Nintendo's mid- and long-term competitive strength."
As we reported yesterday, this latest drop in Nintendo's shares - its stock price has now halved since the turn of the year - was once again blamed on the company's reluctance to join the rush to smartphones. Despite Iwata's claim that the new announcements meant 3DS had "the kind of extensive line-up that has probably never been seen before in the history of videogames," investors were unmoved, with one saying: "I don't think the new games will make any difference.
With Super Mario 3D Land to be released in November, and Mario Kart 7 and Monster Hunter 3G due the following month, Iwata is perhaps entitled to be confident. This is, however, the first sign of recognition that Nintendo would stand to benefit from a move into the smartphone market, if only in the short term.

Nintendo may be AWOL on the TGS show floor (as usual), but that's not stopping Capcom from strutting the big-N's hardware in its stead -- we dropped by its booth for a gameplay-free handling of the 3DS extended slide pad add-on. The control-extending cradle is every bit as bulky as it looks, killing any hope we had of cramming the rig into our pocket. The trade-off? It's much more comfortable to hold than the naked 3DS, giving our meaty hands a smooth, contoured surface to grip. The new right-hand circle pad feels just as solid as the handheld's dedicated pad, and didn't significantly obstruct our access to the 3DS' face buttons. All in all, the cradle is a comfortable, if awkwardly large extension to the 3DS that doesn't seem to compromise the handheld's existing input. Hit up the gallery below to size up the plump peripheral for yourself.

The very first Dragon Quest game is on its way to 3DS in the form of a remake titled Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry's Wonderland 3D, Square has confirmed.
Dragon Quest: Terry's Wonderland was actually itself a remake of the original NES game (simply titled Dragon Quest, or Dragon Warrior in Japan) released in 1998.
The 3DS version will deliver all the old monsters plus a slew of new ones from the upcoming Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2, which is out on DS in US tomorrow and UK on October 7.
Details are otherwise scant, but expect to see more of the 3D remake in the coming weeks

Here's scans of the Japanese 3D Virtual Boy Magazine for you. Even for non-Japanese, this magazine contains some interesting stuff, like original full color renders of Virtual League Baseball, 3D "cross-eye" images of VB games and a stereogram on the cover. When you hold it very close to your eyes and stare right through it for a while, and then slowly take it away from your eyes, something like a large 3D-"V" becomes visible.

It may not be the first console we've seen modded and squeezed into portable clothing, but we've got to admire the sheer pluck of cramming all the GameCube's goodnesss into PSP hardware. Modder Ashen, also responsible for the stockier GameCube Fusion, has managed just that, with some heavy-duty adjustments and modifications. The Fusion Micro is a fair bit chunkier than the original PSP, mainly due to the fan and heat sink behind all that busy hardware. Other modifications include an extra analog stick on the right to mimic the GameCube controller and two card slots for games and emulation. Despite this impressive engineering, however, it won't stand up to extensive plays; this unholy union of Nintendo and Sony can only squeeze out about two hours of gaming from its 5000mAh battery. Click on after the break to see Zelda in action, alongside a full break-down of the controls and modifications.

In case you haven't met him already, Obiwan222222 represents the minimalist alternative to hardcore modding. He's already shown us Wii games running on the PSP and iPod Touch, and now he's pulled off the same trick on his Asus Transformer. It's all done with network streaming: he loads up Super Mario Galaxy 2 on his PC using the open-source Dolphin emulator and then transmits it to his tablet via the Splashtop HD remote desktop app for Android. He also throws in an Xbox 360 controller to make things look more confusing than they really are. We'd obviously worry about lag with this type of setup, but the video after the break makes it look just about playable.

September 19th, 2011, 22:25 Posted By: wraggster
Netflix, the long-running film rentals service, has added console discs to its newly deliniated physical delivery service Qwikster, at an as yet undisclosed price point.
Announcing the new service in an official blog post, CEO Reed Haastings called the new revenue stream part of an "upgrade package" to the Qwikster service, in the same vein as the recent addition of Blu-ray discs.
"One improvement we will make at launch is to add a video games upgrade option, similar to our upgrade option for Blu-ray, for those who want to rent Wii, PS3 and Xbox 360 games," explained Hastings. "Members have been asking for video games for many years, and now that DVD by mail has its own team, we are finally getting it done."
As the service is subscription-based rather than priced per rental unit, users will pay an additional premium per month to rent games if desired, although that premium has yet to be publicly confirmed.
Qwikster is a newly-formed division of the Netflix business which deals with purely physical media. The main Netflix brand will now deal only in streaming. The two sides of the business will be clearly deliniated with separate websites and payment systems.
That division, accompanied by a price-rise, has met with some resistance from customers, who feel that the two options should be combined into a single service once more to save searching for a film again via Qwikster should it not be available for streaming via Netflix. Hastings explains his motivations for the move in the same post.
"For the past five years, my greatest fear at Netflix has been that we wouldn't make the leap from success in DVDs to success in streaming," writes the CEO.
"Most companies that are great at something - like AOL dialup or Borders bookstores - do not become great at new things people want (streaming for us) because they are afraid to hurt their initial business. Eventually these companies realize their error of not focusing enough on the new thing, and then the company fights desperately and hopelessly to recover. Companies rarely die from moving too fast, and they frequently die from moving too slowly."
The post itself makes light of the introduction of games to the service, with the announcement warranting only the brief paragraph above, but in fact the move is a clear step towards taking market share from the major game-rentals service in the US, GameFly. Pricing will clearly be an important factor in the success of the new business arm, but given Netflix's size and resources, the company is likely to field an offer which compares competitively to GameFly's.

It's little surprise that Cut The Rope will be released on DSiWare this week given its success - it was downloaded six million times in its first four months - but given Nintendo's stance on small independent, or "garage" developers, it's heartening to see a true mobile success story available as a download for Nintendo handhelds. However, those that take this as a sign that Nintendo has changed its policy on smartphone software should note that it's priced at €5, compared to just 69p on the iOS App Store. It'll also be available on the eShop, the 3DS download store on which an updated 3D version of NES shooter Twinbee will also be released this week.

The president of SCEA Worldwide Studios has admitted that he found Nintendo’s controversial decision to release a second circle pad add-on for 3DS “shocking”.
The peripheral was first revealed earlier this month, with Nintendo announcing an official release date and price last week.
“Well it’s not like they looked at PS Vita and said ‘we need to do that as well’,” Shu Yoshida told GameInformer when asked if the accessory was a response to the upcoming launch of PlayStation Vita.
“It’s clear that they didn’t believe a second analogue was necessary when they designed the 3DS, so I can only guess it was requested by Capcom’s side. Maybe a Capcom producer told Nintendo that to play Monster Hunter we need [two] analogue sticks.
“That I don’t know, so I can only guesstimate. It was a bit shocking to see what they came up with.”
Yoshida also dismissed the notion that Nintendo’s recent 3DS price cut was a pre-emptive move against the PlayStation Vita.
“I don’t personally believe that they dropped the price of the 3DS to respond to our pricing,” he insisted. “We didn’t price PS Vita to their price, either. We had that plan since the last couple years.
“My personal guesstimate is that they have their business plan and goals to sell a certain amount of 3DS units, and they realized post-launch was that the pricing was not helping them to achieve the goal that they set. That’s my estimate.”

[Bruno]‘s was sent into the tip line, and we’re loving the possibility of using Playstation 2, Genesis, NES and SNES controllers with our Wii.
While there are commercial solutions that connect an NES or SNES controller to a Wii, everything connects to the GameCube port and there is no adapter for Sega or Playstation controllers. For his build, [Bruno] used an ATmega168 to read data from the classic controllers and translate that to the Wiimote I2C bus. Think of it as a new classic controller with the same form factor your 8-year-old self knew and loved.
The schematic for the build is very simple and [Bruno] has all the software out in the open. Even the PCB is single sided and looks like it would be a great candidate for a homebrew PCB. There’s no indication [Bruno] is trying to monetize his creation, so he’s either doing right, or so very wrong. Check out the Dualshock 2/Mario 3 demo of this board after the break.

Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D will release on 3DS in 'early 2012', confirmed series creator Hideo Kojima.
The game was originally announced for a late 2011 release, but was delayed back in July to a worryingly vague '2012'.
However, speaking during a presentation at the Tokyo Game Show last week, Kojima clarified a 'winter' release window will be met, but in early 2012 as oppose to this side of Christmas.
He also reportedly confirmed that the newly-announced Zone of the Enders HD Edition will be out in 'early to mid-2012', joined by a Blu-ray release of the ZOE anime series in summer.

Capcom cancelled what would have been Mega Man's 3DS debut in July, and former head of production Keiji Inafune apologised to fanssoon after despite leaving Capcom last October. Speaking to 4Gamer - translated by Game Blurb - Inafune reveals that he reached out to the publisher in the hope of saving the game. He explains that, when he told Capcom he was leaving, he offered to stay on as a contractor to finish projects he had started.
That offer was refused, and Inafune adds: "[I went to the trouble of] finding the right time, gathering the team members, planning strategies, all so we could barely start on Mega Man Legends 3. I wanted to leave Capcom to recharge my energy, and support Capcom from there, but it seems they don't allow it. I make all my effort to keep Legends 3 alive, but I'm really not sure I can do it."

Nintendo confirmed Smash Bros. for Wii U at E3, but had nothing to show. Now a claimed leaked document has supposedly revealed the game's possible title: Smash Bros. Universe.
The reportedly leaked design brief shows both Japanese and English logos, in which the 'U' in the word 'Universe' in the same font as the 'U' in the Wii U logo.
According to further translations of the typically blurry document, it makes mention of more third-party support (hinting at the possible inclusion of more characters like Sonic and Snake), the abolishing of tripping (a game mechanic that would see character occasionally fall over when dashing), and boosted speed for Samus after conventions set down by Metroid: Other M.
Nintendo has issued the typical 'no comment', and we'd remain deeply skeptical over the document's validity.
Series creator Masahiro Sakurai said rather bluntly that Nintendo "really shouldn't have announced [Smash Bros. Wii U] for the general public at this timing," later stipulating that "the early announcement was made chiefly in order to attract new team members", and that he 'has no time' to work on the game as he focuses on Kid Icarus Uprising.
You can safely assume, then, that Smash Bros. for Wii U, whether it is titled 'Universe' or not, is a long wait away.

Zen Pinball 3D will have balls of steel flying at your face this autumn on Nintendo's 3DS. Developed by Zen Studios, the team behind the excellent Pinball FX 2 andMarvel Pinball, the title will launch with four tables on Nintendo's eShop.
The game will feature local hot seat multiplayer, online leaderboards and in-game achievements for accomplishing table-specific missions. The game does not come with a Nerf shell for the 3DS, however, so extra diligence is required when frustration at constant loss overrides sensibility. Ball out? How about WINDOW OUT?

Speaking to Official Nintendo Magazine, Yusuke Amano, the man charged with coordinating development of the recently releasedStar Fox 64 3D between Nintendo and Q-Games, said that the game's lack of online multiplayer was due to cost and time restrictions.
"Personally, I play a lot of online FPS games," he said. "This leads me to think that just making multiplayer parts of existing games playable online isn't enough to create a satisfying experience for users. The popular online games work in lots of things, so they play well online - and if we wanted to satisfy everyone who bought the game, the costs required for including online support would be vast.
"For this project what we needed to do was use Star Fox to provide users with a game that shows the appeal of Nintendo 3DS as quickly as possible. We put a lot of effort into the graphics, and if we had included online support then we couldn't have reached this level in the time allowed."

This week's US Nintendo downloads list sees the revival of a retro NES shooter, Twinbee, as a 3D Classic.
It's a traditional vertical scrolling shooter with a unique item-collection mechanic that has you shooting bells to juggle them until they're a specific colour before collecting them for a desired power-up. We fell in love with the Twinbee series when the Super Nintendo sequel, Pop 'n Twinbee, arrived but this will do for now.
Here's the full list:
Nintendo eShop
3D Classics: TwinBee - This vertical-scrolling arcade game was originally available only on the Famicom system in Japan. Now, for the first time ever in North America, fans can play this classic shooter with a new 3D look. (For Nintendo 3DS)
WiiWare
Aya and the Cubes of Light - Solve the cubic mazes and rekindle the stars in this exceptional hybrid of puzzle-platform gaming and 3D action. Teleport onto the Cubes to collect the Energy Packs and get the Cube engines working again. (For Wii)
Nintendo eShop / Nintendo DSiWare
Escape Trick: Ninja Castle - When a powerful ninja sneaks into a gadget-laden castle's forbidden area, he gets trapped inside. Play as the powerful Raiko Mitarai and escape from the castle by solving tricky puzzles.
(For Nintendo 3DS / Nintendo DSi)
Also new this week:
Break Tactics (Nintendo eShop / Nintendo DSiWare)
3D Pixel Racing (demo version) (WiiWare)
Blue Man Group Foley Part II (Nintendo Video) - available today at 3 p.m. Pacific time
As ever, more info, screens and trailers of this week's games are through the source link.

No, you don't need a trailer to know how Tetris works, but you do need one to see the surprisingly numerous array of extra modes in the 3DS game, Tetris Axis. The bonus games range far beyond the normal "Tetris with some blocks already laid out," including weirdo modes like one in which you guide a single game piece through a racetrack, a game about building up a cylindrical tower, and even AR modes that put the Tetris playing field on your desk.
We're sure a lot of people will balk at the idea of another retail Tetris, but this is a good effort toward filling that cartridge. Also, there's a dancing monkey.

The Lavalit guys have released a new of their Beatem Up for the Dreamcast, PSP, Wiz, Wii, GP2x and Dingoo:
OpenBOR is a continuation of the Beats Of Rage 2D game engine, which was originally
created by the wonderful folks over at http://www.senileteam.com.
----------------------
OpenBOR has a very modular and portabledesign inherited from Beats of Rage. Ports
to the following platforms are currently supported:
* Windows
* Linux
* Mac OS X
* Wii
* PSP
* Dreamcast
* GP2X
* GP2X Wiz
* Dingoo a320
In addition to the above, the original Beats of Rage engine (downloadable from
the Senile Team website is available for the following platforms:
* DOS
* Playstation 2
* Xbox
* GP32
* Palmtop

Now, we don't want you to get your adorable little hopes up, so keep the indefinite nature of the universe in mind when we say that Bethesda's VP of Marketing Pete Hines has told Official Nintendo Magazine UK that a Wii U port of The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is "definitely a possibility."
Hines said that Bethesda will "look at any platform" that can support the studio's games as they are designed, meaning that Nintendo's latest would have to be able to support the weight of a full port, rather than a system-exclusive approximation. In related news, the world record for simultaneous Skyrim boners was shattered 24 seconds ago as the entire Wii U community joined the tally.

Almost one-third of players think the 3DS's most prominent selling feature -- the 3D -- detracts from the gameplay experience, a survey from research firm Interpret LLC found. The survey asked 1,600 adults if they were aware the 3DS existed (60 percent), and then if they knew it didn't require glasses to view the 3D effects (28 percent). Of those who had played the 3DS, 28 percent said 3D detracted from the gaming experience, compared with 22 percent who thought 3D was an improvement. Thirteen percent played with the 3D turned completely off.
Most respondents, 56 percent, preferred 3D gaming through a console-TV set-up, while only 7 percent said a handheld 3D device was their preference. Players who experienced dizziness or nausea from watching 3D entertainment rose seven percent points from the previous year, to 37 percent.
We expect the 3DS to make a speech some time soon attempting to gain back bipartisan approval, push a new jobs bill and kiss some babies. Not that that always works, but it's what's done.

28 per cent of 3DS users reckon the the system's 3D feature detracts from the gameplay experience, according to a new survey.
As reported by GameSpot, a new study by research firm Interpret LLC claims that 22 per cent of those surveyed thought the 3D improved gameplay, but 13 per cent were so put off by the effect that they turned it off all together while playing.
56 per cent of the 1600 participant-strong sample stated that their ideal 3D gaming experience is a 3D-capable console connected to a TV, with only seven per cent giving a 3D handheld the nod.
Some good news for Nintendo's platform though. The study stated that user awareness of the device was up 60 per cent on this time last year, though oddly only 28 per cent of that total were aware that it didn't require 3D glasses to use.

[Kekszumquadrat] wanted to use a classic controller to play emulator games on his Android tablet so he set out to convert an SNES gamepad to connect via USB. He found an old USB keyboard at a yard sale for about 3 Euros. He knew that the emulator he prefers has the option of remapping all the inputs to keyboard keys which means a USB keyboard has all of the electronics he would need to pull this off.
Once he had separated the keyboard circuitry from the case [Kekszumquadrat] plugged it into his Linux box and used Xev to establish how the keyboard matrix is set up. Xev is a common package that opens up an active window on the X desktop. When run from command line, any events that happen to the window will be echoed along with verbose data about that event. When it comes to keypresses, you’ll get the keycode you need. He simply shorted columns and rows until he found the desired mapping, then it was on to soldering.
The SNES controllers are very simple devices. As we’ve seen with previous projects, they use a serial-to-parallel shift register to gather button data and send it to the console. [Kekszumquadrat] simply soldered between button traces and keyboard matrix contacts. Once he finished, the keyboard parts were tucked inside of the controller case and he’s left with a USB controller that appears to be unaltered.

ant512 has completed Really Bad Eggs, the Super Foul Egg/Puyo Puyo puzzle game remake, and released the final version 20110918. The object is to manipulate pairs of colored eggs as they drop so they line up with eggs of the same color, get four or more like-colored eggs in a row to make them vanish. When the screen fills with mismatched eggs, it's game over. See what's new in the change log, and join the on-going discussion for more information about this DS homebrew.

via http://gbatemp.net/t308738-dstelnet-alpha-2-0
ILOVEPIE has released a new version of DSTELNET which as the name implies allows you to connect to telnet servers with your DS. Unlike the first alpha you can now go wherever you like and by our reckoning it is the first standalone telnet client for the DS (previously your only real option was DSlinux). We have not tested it at length against any of our favourite MUDs yet but it does seem to have issues with wireless security and non standard ports- the author quite clearly states it is alpha software though.
this version can connect to a telnet server of your choice:

via http://emu-russia.net/en/
CaH4e3 updated his site with the following message:
- Street Fighter VI 16 Peoples (Unl)[!]. Next portion of pirate crap arrived. Little more interesting now is "Street Fighter VI" with 8 playable characters. It's a simple parent of "Street Fighter VI 12 Peoples" which contains only 6 characters and just only 2 different arenas. This version contains 8 full different arenas for each character, the same as in "Street Fighter V (20 Peoples)" dumped earlier, but character selection menu and VS screens was derived from it's simple parent.
Mapper hardware for this cart is MMC3 with bit 0 of address line moved to bit 1, so it can't be played on another emulators as mapper 4, but I hacked current fceumm build to support this little tweak, so enjoy. If there is some other games on MMC3 that stop working because of that, let me know.
- Kang Ti Wu Wang (Ch)[!]. That was nice cart too, another one dance simulator, but produced on standalone cartridge, instead of TV plug&play dance mat or console. You can see the whole bunch of other dance simulators here.
- 2-in-1 J-M2 (Unl)[!], 2-in-1 King005 (Unl)[!], 9-in-1_King001_(Unl)[U][!]. Recently reversed some of my old SuperGame carts and rewrite old 8237 unif board to support all it's protection modes (4 permutation tables for registers and addresses + 1 clean MMC3). Now most of the SuperGame cartridges can be played as iNES mapper 215, assigned to this board (old code was removed), also removed completely 182 mapper, the duplicate of 114 mapper source, all 182 mapper games redefined to 114 by CRC check. Latest fceumm supports all of this.
As a side effect, I discovered that a bunch of SuperGame carts have hardware DIP switch to enable or disable game menu, switching cart to simple or multigame modes. Some of my carts was locked multigames, and some old dumps in goodnes contains partially data from the multigame side. So MK3Extra60 and Pokahontas 2 now known to have overdumped CHR data bank, extra 256K of CHR for these games comes from another game.
I redumped my old carts and dumped some new cartridges after unlocking the full data. Shinobi here is an original protected version of the game, version dumped before was just unprotected earlier build. Another one 9-in-1 cart contains 4Mb of data on board, but since original mapper couldn't support more than 2Mb, and there is no way to use iNES format with CHR data bank 2Mbin size, this one is assigned as different unique UNIF board and comes in UNIF format, which is supported by latest fceumm version. Note: Lion King has an unknown problem, which I still trying to figure out.
- Highway Star (Kaiser)[U][!], Ninja Turtles 5 (Unl)[!]. In the end some mode pirate hacked crap. Kaiser now hacked MMC1 game to simple board, instead of FDS conversion, so sad. ;( And for thoose of us who interested, another one TMNT hack with number 5. This time title was hacked for Toxic Crusaders game, since there is no need to hack character graphics, crusader itself very much similar to mutant turtle.

news via http://emulatemii.com/wordpress/?p=431
We must start by saying that yes, it sure has been a while since our last update. Followers can rest assured though that we have been actively developing all of our projects in one way or another. As mentioned before, all three of us have very little time to work on this stuff due to real life commitments, but combined we seem to be getting things done at what we think is a decent pace.
WiiSX has seen some tinkering to try and get compatibility up, but has run into other issues. We have been keeping in sync with pcsx-reloaded whilst trying to maintain the PPC dynarec for it. Eventually we need to add more recompiled functions to the dynarec in WiiSX, particularly GTE. We initially wanted to do a full PPC dynarec re-write, but that doesn’t seem feasible time-wise at the moment. Future plans for WiiSX also include porting a hardware renderer now that Pete’s OpenGL plugin is open-sourced.
The Wii64 port to PS3 now has a near-complete hardware renderer since our last post. However, the dynarec needs some work to run on a 64bit PPC architecture. The Pure Interpreter core has little (if any) performance increase over the Wii running the same core, so PS364 really needs the dynarec.
Wii64 for the GC/Wii has seen the most in terms of progress. There has been USB2 support added as well as a port of Rice (graphics plugin) amongst other smaller bug-fixes and optimizations since the last release. One notable feature that we’re really excited about is…
That’s right, high-resolution, custom texture paks are now supported on the Wii using Wii64! Of course, this is still Work-In-Progress, but we’re nearing completion.. Expect a release after this feature is complete. We feel like this is where homebrew emulation on the Wii can really shine and provide an enhancement that Nintendo is not able to offer with their official software.

via http://dsx86.patrickaalto.com/
DSx86 release notes
This version has only one small fix, the smooth scaling changes I made in the previous version introduced a screen flickering problem when attempting to scroll the smooth-scaled screen. This also happens when the Touch Pad Mouse cursor got near the screen border in modes that do not need scrolling, like in 640x480 mode. This problem was caused by my changing the REG_BG3Y hardware scaling register after the screen blitting function, and as the screen blitting took longer than one VBlank period, this change also occurred at a time when the screen was already active. This register should not be changed during active screen scanning time, or flickering will occur. In this version I moved the setting of this register to before the screen blitting code, so there should not be any flickering any more.
DS2x86 progress
During the last week I have continued working on the paging features. I finally figured out a way to handle the most serious problem I have been having with the paging system, the possible page discontinuity in the code segment that I described in the September 4th blog entry below. The proper method to handle this would be to look up every single byte from the EMSPages[] LUT, but that would really kill the performance (not to mention be a really big task to implement), so I did not want to do that. Instead, I figured out that since I already need to keep the physical and logical memory addresses separate, it would not be a big problem to actually move the problematic code into some completely separate memory area, and handle the discontinuity (that is, generate a continuous code snippet) when copying the code from two separate physical 4K pages!
So I added some (self-modifying) code to my main opcode loop to perform these operations:
If paging is on and the current physical CS:EIP address is near the end of this 4K page ((physical address AND 0xFFF) >= 0xFF0), then jump to a special code that does the following:
If we have already relocated the 32 bytes, jump back to handling the opcode normally.
Check if the next logical 4K page exists in physical memory, and cause a Page Fault if it does not (handling a Page Fault will eventually restart the opcode).
Relocate the 32 bytes around the page border (that is, 16 bytes from the end of the previous 4K page and 16 bytes from the beginning of the next 4K page) into emulated BIOS area at F000:3FF0 - F000:400F (actually it could be anywhere, but this was a nice free already existing space).
Adjust the physical CS:EIP pointer and the physical-to-logical adjustment value so that the code continues executing within this new relocated area.
Self-modify the opcode loop to first call a special code described below.
Continue with the normal handling code.
The opcode loop may be self-modified to jump to a special code which does the following:
Test if we are still at the end of the 4K page ((physical address AND 0xFFF) >= 0xFF0). If we are, jump to continue the opcode handling normally.
Else, re-adjust the physical CS:EIP and the physical-to-logical adjustment value to point to the actual physical RAM address of the 4K page instead of the relocated area.
Self-modify the opcode loop back to using the normal handling code.
Continue with the normal handling code.
With these changes I can still use the quick linear memory access when loading the opcodes and their immediate bytes, and this special code (which is rarther slow) is only executed when we are about to cross a page boundary. Here is an example of one such occurence, this actually causes a Page Fault as the page starting at logical address 0x100EA000 is not loaded into physical RAM when this code gets executed:
...
0268:100E9FF3 E8E39F0000 call 100EDFDB ($+9fe3)
0268:100E9FF8 C705713D131001000000 mov dword [10133D71],00000001
0268:100EA002 B825A00E10 mov eax,100EA025
0268:100EA007 E8358CFFFF call 100E2C41 ($-73cb)
...
As you can see the opcode at address ...FF8 consists of 10 bytes, and it is actually only the last two bytes that are in the next page. In DOSBox the Page Fault happens when it loads the second-but-last byte of this opcode, in DS2x86 the page fault happens already when the code reaches the ...FF3 address (because at that point it needs to relocate the 32 bytes). When this code gets relocated into the F000:3FF0 area, it looks like the following (in the DS2x86 inbuilt debugger):
The call target addresses look different, as they are relative to the current logical IP. The handlers for all the opcodes using relative jumps will need to be aware of the possible relocation, but luckily this needs to be the case even without this relocation trick I use, since the paging itself can relocate the logical addresses within the physical RAM. Also note that only the opcodes at addresses ...FF3 and ...FF8 are actually executed from within this relocated area. When the emulator reaches the opcode at ...002, it uses the second part of my special handling code which goes back to executing the opcodes from their proper physical (and logical) addresses.
The current status with the paging features is that Descent 2 Demo begins to misbehave after Page Fault number 102, and Warcraft 2 runs up to Page Fault number 192. After that they both crash with an invalid Task Switch IRET. My current theory is that the timer interrupt that should play AdLib music interferes with the Page Fault task switches, and that causes the problem. I need to continue debugging this, but I am pretty happy with the progress I have finally been able to achieve with the paging system during the last week.

September 26th, 2011, 01:53 Posted By: wraggster
via http://dsx86.patrickaalto.com/DSblog.html
For the last week I have continued working on the paging features for DS2x86. This time I have managed to make some visible progress, as Descent 2 Demo goes to graphics mode properly, and at times I can even reach up to the main menu! However, this happens only in about once every six attempts or so, in other cases it crashes with a failure in some internal sanity checks I have in my protected mode opcodes. I believe these crashes are mostly due to the (silly) game not keeping the stack pointer doubleword-aligned, which makes the stack access occasionally needing to read a doubleword from two separate 4K pages, which is not yet supported. The frequency of this happening depends on the timing of the hardware timer interrupts etc, so it rarely happens in the same place.
So, the next step is to improve the data accesses, first for the stack opcodes and then for all the other opcodes, to also handle the possible page discontinuity properly. I have already handled this discontinuity in some opcodes, like the REP MOVSD string handler, but it is still missing from a lot of other opcodes. The CS:EIP handling code that I described in the previous blog post seems to work properly at the moment, so I can focus on the data access from now on.
Since checking for page discontinuity is a rather slow operation, I have been toying with the idea of attempting to use the hardware (the MIPS processor memory management unit) in some way to help with the virtual memory implementation. I only yesterday thought about this, and tried to test what the current hardware TLB contains. It seems to not contain anything sensible, which probably means that the TLB feature of the hardware is not actually used by the DSTwo SDK. It seems that all the memory accesses are to the 0x80000000 memory area, which the MIPS32 documentation describe as "Kernel Unmapped" area. Unmapped here means that the TLB hardware is not needed, the memory is mapped directly to the beginning of the physical memory. The virtual memory area between 0x00000000 and 0x7FFFFFFF is called "User Mapped", so that would use the TLB hardware to map virtual addresses to physical RAM (and accessing it currently always generates a "TLB miss" exception since the TLB table values are all invalid). It would be neat if I could use the TLB to map the first 16 megabytes (virtual addresses 0x00000000 - 0x00FFFFFF) directly to my emulated DOS RAM area using the TLB, as in that case the hardware would do the memory translation and I could get rid of my EMSPages mapping table!
This direct mapping would be quite simple if the game does not use virtual memory (or even EMS memory) and uses MCGA graphics, as then I could set up a single TLB entry mapping all 16MB of RAM at virtual addresses 0x00000000 - 0x00FFFFFF to my emulated RAM area. However, as soon as EMS memory or EGA or Mode-X graphics are needed, things get more complicated. In this situation I could divide the area into 16KB pages, but since the TLB table in MIPS32 only has 64 entries, that could map only the first 1MB of RAM. Nice for real mode programs, but for protected mode I would need to handle the hardware TLB misses with a fast exception handler (the documentation tells that the TLB miss exception uses a different vector to the common exception handling vector, and I have not been able to determine from the DSTwo SDK where this special exception handler should be). Even more difficult will be the situation with virtual memory, as only the addresses below 0x80000000 can be virtualized, the addresses above that would simply fail horribly when the game will access my emulator code instead of the emulated data or code. So, I am not yet sure whether it is worth it to look into this possibility further, but it is an intriguing idea.

ASSEMbler shows off his IS-NITRO-CAPTURE. If you ever wondered what the video quality was like you'll get a brief look at the hardware's internal up-scaling here. He also showed the internals of the unit in a previous video. If you're interested in the device, one of these would apparently run you around $3000, and i imagine you'd need a good contact to even find one considering not many dev studios owned the device in the first place.

Owen offers us " Starfield "tech demo for the Nintendo Wii, field effect of stars used in his play" Owen Shooter ".
Starfield IS a small app to Demonstrate That Was Written That the starfield effect I use in Newo Shooter. I wrote this program for beginners Who Wants to Get Into Wii homebrew. Uses GRRLIB. It Is not a game. Can you modify the included source to simulate Things like warps, rain and Various Other flying effects.
[edit] How it works Check the source. The C program Basically Draws Some lines in 3D space inside a single block GX. Half the lines are a different color and are moving Slower Than The Other Half. The lines move from the back of the box to the front (-1 to 1) and are back at -1 Placed If They Become Greater Than 1. Lines are Better Than dots Because THEY Provide a nice motion blur appearance. You Can Interact with the effect by pressing buttons appropriée. If you change the angle you can make it look like rain, heavy rain or a slow drizzle. You Only Need draw_stardust the void () function, the rest of the code is just for the demo There to purpose and IS NOT needed.

SSNES v0.8.2 is released. SSNES is a simple frontend for the libsnes library. libsnes is the emulator core of bSNES, the most accurate SNES emulator to date, in library form. The libsnes API has been implemented by SNES9x as well, allowing multiple different cores to be used for an emulator that supports libsnes. - Added support for writing block of SRAM.
- Verification of WM additional messages.

HalfNES v0.039 is released. HalfNES is an open-source emulator for the Nintendo Entertainment System, written in Java. Currently, it only runs as a standalone Java SE application.
Current Features:
-Now cropping off the top and bottom 8 pixels of the video output, since these are
not visible on most TVs and a lot of games render garbage on those lines.
-Added volume slider to options dialog (and rewrote the sound output code as well.)
-Fixed a lot of sound bugs. Crystalis, Zombie Nation, A Boy And His Blob etc. all sound right now.
-Fixed Twin Cobra
HalfNES v0.039 Changelog:
Added mappers 5 and 119. Castlevania III works now and so do all other MMC5 games
except for Laser Invasion and two Japanese exclusive ones. Also fixed one tiny
almost unnoticeable bug with drum sounds cutting off a tiny bit early that
has been there for months unnoticed.

Glitch64 SVN r254 is released. GlideHQ is a realtime texture enhancer library with hi-resolution texture pack support for Glide64. Glitch64 is the recommended Glide3x wrapper for Glide64, the Glide video plugin for N64 emulators. It currently supports S3TC texture compression, anisotropic filtering, widescreen resolutions and simulates almost all the Glide3x hardware capabilities used by the plugin, included texture buffer capability (needed for render to texture). It is coded using the OpenGL API and uses GLSL shaders.
Traditional and non-traditional techniques have been used to achieve speed and high image quality even on a 9 year old 3Dfx Voodoo2. Although the 3Dfx Glide3x texture format naming conventions are used, the library can be expanded for generic use. The library supports 6 enhancers and 6 image filters. FXT1 and S3TC texture compression are supported.

The Nyko Power Pak+ does an admirable job of keeping Nintendo's 3DS out of the red, but what if you want an extended battery that won't fit in your pocket? Look no further than CTA Digital's Deluxe Power Grip, the 3DS cradle that doubles your console's bulk to match its newly extended battery life. The grip's form mimics that of an Xbox 360 controller, replete with a 2600mAh battery pack and a game-card storing kickstand. The peripheral's grips seem to lend better access to the handheld'sawkwardly positioned D-pad, but its real triumph comes in the option to charge the unit via USB; folks looking for a standardized charging solution can kick Nintendo's official AC adapter to the curb. Comfy grips and USB compatibility will set you back about $30. Not convinced? Barrel roll past the break for the official PR and a cheesy overview video.

September 26th, 2011, 21:52 Posted By: wraggster
Speaking to Official Nintendo Magazine, vice president of PR and marketing Pete Hines said that, while there was a "possibility" of Bethesda developing for Wii U, the amount of work involved in porting and localising games for multiple platforms presented something of a stumbling block.
"It's definitely a possibility for the future," he said. "We'll look at any platform that will support the games we're trying to make, but that's the key thing - the console has to support the game as it is designed."
Pressed on whether Bethesda had any intention of bringing the upcoming The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim to Nintendo's Wii successor, Hines explained: "The more changes we have to make to a game the less and less palatable it becomes, because making a game is an enormous process.
"Just doing 360, PS3 and PC - I don't think people understand the amount of work that goes into that. All the localisation you have to do, all of the testing you have to do, on every platform in every language - it's a pretty huge undertaking. You aren't just supporting Wii U; you're supporting it in English, French, Italian, German and Spanish."
All of which sounds very much like Bethesda is waiting to see whether Nintendo secures a large enough installed base for its upcoming console before committing to bringing its big-budget games to the platform. Xbox 360, PS3 and PC owners, meanwhile, will be able to enjoy Skyrim when it is released on November 11. Those that can't wait that long can read the extensive preview in our latest issue, E233, which is out tomorrow.

Nintendo's two most beloved characters arrive on the 3DS eShop this week with the releases of The Legend Of Zelda: Four Swords Anniversary Edition and Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins.
Four Swords, the fourplayer adventure released for GameCube in 2004, is being released as part of the Zelda series' 25th anniversary celebrations. A free download for both 3DS owners from the eShop and DSi users from DSiWare, it supports fourplayer offline multiplayer and, for the first time, a singleplayer mode, with the lone adventurer able to switch between two characters with a button press.
Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins is a re-release of the 1992 Game Boy title, and will cost £4.50 when it is released on Thursday.
Zelda and Mario will again go head-to-head before the year is out: 3DS's Super Mario 3D Land and Link's Wii swan-song The Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword will both be released on November 18.

A total of 243 GAME and 165 Gamestation stores will open their doors just before midnight on Thursday September 29th in anticipation of FIFA 12’s release.
GAME’s Oxford Street store is hosting the UK’s official midnight launch, with the first customer to buy the game receiving a new LG 3D monitor. Three more LG sets will also be on offer as prizes.
“With over 400 stores opening at midnight to celebrate the launch of FIFA 12, we’re kitting up for an evening of football fun across the country,” GAME and Gamestation marketing director Anna-Marie Mason stated.
“FIFA has proven year in, year out to be a hit with customers and we’re thrilled to be giving fans the earliest chance to pick up a copy.”
The industry’s eyes are now fixed squarely on retail, whom MCV anticipates will see FIFA 12 as very much a potential loss-leader. Will anyone match Tesco’s infamous £24.97 no-strings-attached price for FIFA 10 in October 2009?

Nintendo has announced that it is to launch a black version of its Wii Balance Board next month.
A bundle including both the new-look peripheral and a copy of Wii Fit Plus. It will be released on October 7th.
Until this point only the white version of the accessory has been released in the UK. However with the black Wii having been on the market for some time it’s no surprise to see Nintendo giving families the option of colour-matching their favourite fitness game.
And of course, despite Wii’s increasing lack of favour in the UK market Wii Fit remains very much a strong prospect for the Christmas buying season.

Ancillary services like Call of Duty: Elite and Battlefield 3's Battlelog will be "a necessity" for all mainstream games in the not-too-distant future, according to Activision's digital VP.
Jamie Berger told MCV that a supporting social network/stat-tracking/content delivery platform is increasingly a vital part of attracting and maintaing a large audience.
"We believe that a 24/7, year-round services strategy that broadens the game experience beyond just playing is going to be a necessity," he explained.
"Right now, it's an option, but in three to five years, it won't be. To support a diverse player base, you will have to have a services and ongoing content strategy. I don't see how games are going to manage without that.
"Elite is about Call of Duty being bigger than ever five years from now and laying the groundwork for that."
The Call of Duty Elite service is due to launch alongside Modern Warfare 3 in November.

Nintendo is being sued for its Wii Remote, and suddenly we've got a strange sense of déj* vu.
The platform holder is being pulled into yet more litigation from another electronics firm, UltimatePointer, maker of the Upoint laser pointer presentation remote which, by the way, it's not currently selling as the product is apparently undergoing a "rigorous testing scheme."
The filing claims that Nintendo has directly infringed one of its pointer-related the patents "with the unauthorized selling of its Wii remote hardware."
Not stopping there, the firm is also targeting retailers such as GameStop and Best Buy for infringing the patent by selling the devices. Awesome.
UltimatePointer seeks damages and legal fees.
This will echo in the minds of those who heard the news earlier this month of technology firm ThinkOptic's similar lawsuit against Nintendo for the Wii Remote's infringement of a patent related to "electronic equipment for handheld vision based absolute pointing system".

In celebration of its 25th birthday, Nintendo’s iconic Zelda franchise is to take the limelight at October’s GameCity6 event in Nottingham next month.
And chief amongst the planned activities is the transformation of Nottingham Market into a “Hyrulean Market Village” straight out of one of the Zelda games.
Starting at the Market, attendees are tasked with tracking down pieces of the Triforce in “a series of adventures”. They’ll also get their chance to create their own shield and sword, as well as learn to play the Ocarina – and possibly win the instrument.
A world record attempt is also being made. Six gamers will attempt to play all 15 Zelda games in canon order from start to finish. A one-off magazine will also be published based on material submitted between the Wednesday and Friday before Zelda day.
The Zelda day will take place on Saturday October 29th. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is released in the UK November 18th.

Intelligent Systems, developer of the beloved strategy seriesAdvance Wars, will release its first 3DS game, Hiku-Osu, on the Japanese eShop next week.
In Hiku-Osu - which is to be published by Nintendo - players are cast as Maro, tasked with clearing his town of a block-like toy called Hiku-Osu.
Maro can push and pull these blocks to clear a path to each of the game's 250 stages, some of which will feature Nintendo settings and characters, and there's also a level editor. We've asked Nintendo about their plans for localisation, and will update should we hear back.

This is the last week in which you will be able to buy the classic 2D space shooter R-Type on your Wii via the Virtual Console.
The hard-as-nails shooter will be removed from the service on September 30, Sega has confirmed. The Virtual Console offering is the Master System version, which isn't our favourite in the series' history (the Super Nintendo entries are better) but still well worth having.
Sega is coy on the circumstances surrounding its removal from the VC service, revealing only that it's due to 'a licensing issue'.
Shame. Go grab it now.

You might have missed it yesterday, since it wasn't during the normal Nintendo downloadable game release day, but The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Anniversary Edition is free to download right now on DSiWare (which is, of course, also accessible with the 3DS). If you've got friends to play with, it's a fun, bite-sized Zelda experience; if you don't, it's basically a really weird Zelda game where you don't get to keep your items.
Another Nintendo classic is available on 3DS today: Super Mario Land 2, which introduces Wario for the first time -- long before he starts his software company. And on WiiWare, escapeVektor: Chapter 1 combines Qix-style outline completion with a storyline about being trapped in a computer.
Nintendo also notes that new 3D trailers for Super Mario 3D Land, Kid Icarus: Uprising, Mario Kart 7, Luigi's Mansion 2, Animal Crossing, Paper Mario, and Mario Tennis will be available on 3DS "soon," so watch all those Blue Man Group videos now to make sure you have time for these.

Former Guitar Hero developer Vicarious Visions is working on three unannounced new titles, one of which is for the Wii U, according a developer CV.
The LinkedIn profiled of an associate producer at the Albany-based studio, as reported byGameSpot, references ongoing work on a number of mystery titles.
Project Atlantis is listed for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, Project Phoenix for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii and Project Nova for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii U.
The developer was responsible for the Wii and DS versions of Guitar Hero release until the franchise was shelved by publisher Activision earlier this year, and is currently working on the 3DS SKU of Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure.

The UK will be awash with the colour red to ensure consumers are well aware of Nintendo’s bright new 3DS.
Over 6,000 UK locations will be ‘painted red’ around the launch of the Metallic Red 3DS which hits shelves today, with six-sheet and 48-sheet posters advertising the new colour.
Nintendo will also take over the two digital screen towers on the A4 at Hammersmith which is connected to the M4.
“The launch of the Metallic Red 3DS will be supported by a large scale nationwide outdoor campaign, painting the streets red for this great new hardware launch,” Nintendo product manager Zoe Cooper told MCV.
“Metallic Red 3DS brings with it all the amazing features of the all new handheld console the Nintendo 3DS, but in a hot new colour that will appeal to all. It’s another great reason for existing DS owners to purchase the next generation in handheld gaming – the Nintendo 3DS.”
The launch comes ahead of several new Nintendo 3DS games including Super Mario 3D Land on November 18th and Mario Kart 7 on December 2nd.
Ads on gaming websites will drive pre-orders of 3D Land ahead of release.
Closer to launch, online activity across all major kids sites will show off the game’s different features.
Super Mario 3D Land will have a large TV presence in mid-November, with a separate campaign targeting kids TV channels.
Nintendo’s junior product manager Roger Langford added: “All of this activity will ensure that all fans of Mario will be aware of his latest adventure.
“And with Mario Kart 7 also on the horizon, it’s an exciting time for Nintendo 3DS.”
Mario isn’t the only Nintendo icon to be backed by a massive marketing push this Christmas.
Super Pokémon Rumble – the series’ first retail release on 3DS – will be promoted in an ad with popular boy band One Direction, while TV spots for Professor Layton and the Spectre’s Call on Nintendo DS will target women over 35 years old.
Finally The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword will receive a dedicated online and TV campaign around the Wii game’s release on November 18th.

Nordic Games’ latest karaoke title We Sing Rock will hit shelves next month exclusively on Wii.
The title will feature 40 rock anthems, music videos and a range of solo and multiplayer modes. It will arrive on October 28th in the UK.
It includes songs from artists such as Coldplay, Alice Cooper, My Chemical Romance, Kasabian and even Elvis Presley.
“The game will make a fantastic addition to the portfolio of We Sing titles,” said Nik Blower, sales and marketing director at Nordic Games.
“We’re giving fans of the We Sing series what they wanted – we’ve gone above and beyond to give them never-before-featured classic rock songs alongside current headbangers. Anyone who’s ever dreamed of being a rock star can now perform like a God to their favourite rock anthems.”
We Sing Rock follows a host of We Sing titles from Nordic including We Sing, We Sing Robbie Williams and We Sing UK Hits, with the latter hitting shelves today. Dancing game spin-off We Dance arrived earlier this month.
