A recently leaked list of 26 titles to be supported by Wii's Virtual Console at launch - originating from a Nintendo fan-site's "trustworthy source" - has been dismissed by Nintendo after we contacted the games giant for comment.
"This is complete speculation - we know that everyone is as excited as we are about the pending launch of Wii and as a result there is a lot of speculation and rumour," we were told by a Nintendo spokesman. "Please be patient, as all will be revealed in due course."
Mercifully, we should only have to sit on our hands for another few days, with a major Wii event planned for this Thursday, 14 September.

Trusted sources in Japan are claiming that Square Enix is to bring a massive amount of new content to Nintendo's DS portable, including offshoots from some of the company's most popular titles.
The biggest rumour is that of a Final Fantasy XII side-story, exclusive to the Nintendo machine, that will be a full-price release and complete game, and is likely to be available within the next 12 months. Final Fantasy V has also been mentioned, which - according to reports - will be squished together with number VI in the series.
The Japanese rumour mill is alive with claims that updates of all pre-32Bit RPG offerings of both the former Square and Enix stables will be made available in re-worked and utterly buyable forms to owners of the DS, though at time of going to press, the big talk is centering around Final Fantasy XII being continued in portable form. FFXII has encountered criticism for its linearity and lack of imagination, with many fans expecting a more complete experience. It would seem that Square Enix is set to expand much of its franchise on a format that has surpassed all expectations.
Formal clarification is said to be scheduled for next month's Tokyo Game Show. We'll bring you updates live from the showfloor.

Players choose their teams of three characters from the Mario universe and hit the parquet. Power-ups like Red Shells and Bob-ombs can turn the tide as they chase down coins – they will affect the score, so players collect as many as they can as they drive to the hoop.
Whether playing against friends on a local wireless connection, jamming through a tournament or just playing mini-games, there's a mode for everyone

Nintendo Europe has claimed that details of Wii accessories and their prices on a US retailer website are just "rumour and speculation".
GameStop has named a number of intriguing add-ons for Nintendo's forthcoming console, all of which can be pre-ordered despite no official announcement from Nintendo.
These include an HD Premium Component Cable ($59.99) and a $9.99 Controller Glove. A sling bag will cost $29.99, says GameStop, suggesting will be able to casually carry your Wii around town and still look cool - rather than dragging your Xbox 360 along in a barrow like a ton of bricks.
When we contacted Nintendo PR to check if the list of accessories and prices were accurate, and to see if they were coming to European shores, we were told nothing had been confirmed and tactfully reminded the company does not comment on rumour or speculation. Except to declare it thus.
Other items named on Gamestop's site include a Wii G-Pak Travel Case, 512MB and 1GB SD cards, Wii Game Wallet, S-Video Premium AV Cable and a Wii Storage and Protection 1.0GB Kit.
It looks like everyone will just have to twiddle their thumbs for confirmation until Nintendo's press conferences on Thursday September 14 in the U.S. and Japan, and Friday September 15 in London.

Ubisoft has announced that it will release a Wii version of Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Double Agent before Christmas.
Tony Key, vice president of marketing at the French publisher, said: "The Splinter Cell franchise has always translated very well across multiple platforms and we are confident that the Wii version will continue the tradition of maximizing the capabilities of each respective videogame console platform."
Few details of the game have not yet emerged, although it seems that it will be an upgraded version of the PS2/GameCube game (which means it won't have any online element). It will make some use of the Wii-mote though: Ubisoft has given the example of shaking the controller to help Sam Fisher pick locks.

On September 15 - this Friday - the chap who provides the voice for Nintendo's videogame icon Mario is hitting the Big Smoke.
Charles Martinet will be in Game's Oxford Street store somewhere between 12pm and 4pm on the day, and will be signing limited edition postcards for customers "whilst they wait for Nintendo's official announcement of the details about their forthcoming Wii console!", it says here.
We're guessing he might utter a few famous Mario lines too if people twist his arm hard enough. Or feed him a mushroom or two.

This cute cooking game uses the touchscreen of the Nintendo DS to let you cook meals. Playing as a female chef, you have to prepare the food (slicing the vegetables, slicing the meat), then cook it on the stove. Use the stylus as their master kitchen tool to chop, slice, pan fry, knead, grate, mash, peel and more. With touchscreen play, you can do things such as shake the skillet for an omelet and dip tempura in the oil. Share recipes with up to 4 other people or transfer a saved game to a friend via the DS wireless link.

Heres the press release:
IBM (NYSE: IBM) today announced that the microprocessors that will serve as the digital heartbeat of Nintendo’s upcoming Wii™ video game console are being shipped from IBM’s state-of-the-art East Fishkill, N.Y., fabrication facility.
Earlier this year, IBM and Nintendo signed a multi-year microchip production agreement to support the upcoming launch of Nintendo’s eagerly anticipated Wii video game console. The chip, code-named “Broadway,” will deliver experiences not previously possible on video game consoles.
“The first chips are in our possession,” said Genyo Takeda, Senior Managing Director/General Manager, Integrated Research & Development Division, Nintendo Co., Ltd. “Today’s milestone marks the final stage of our drive to reach both core and nontraditional gamers with an inviting, inclusive and remarkable gaming experience.”
Under the terms of the agreement, IBM will produce millions of fully tested, Power Architecture-based chips featuring IBM Silicon on Insulator (SOI) technology at 90 nanometers (90 billionths of a meter), based on the specifications of the custom design agreement previously agreed upon by the two companies. The chip is being produced at IBM’s state-of-the-art 300mm semiconductor development and manufacturing facility in East Fishkill, N.Y.
Silicon on Insulator technology from IBM helps deliver to Nintendo a generous improvement in processing power while achieving a 20 percent reduction in energy consumption.
Microchips based on the Power Architecture are the electronic brain of devices large and small, and are inside automotive safety systems, printers, routers, servers and the world’s most powerful supercomputers.
"The IBM team has worked hard to design, develop and deliver this customized Power microprocessor for the worldwide launch of Nintendo’s new system,” said Ron Martino, director, IBM Technology Collaboration Solutions. “When millions of gamers take the controls of Wii this holiday season, the IBM logo will once again be front and center on this innovative new product.”
The relationship between IBM and Nintendo dates to May 1999, when IBM announced a comprehensive technology agreement to design and manufacture the central microprocessor, often referred to as the “Gekko” chip, for the Nintendo GameCube™ system from its Burlington, Vt., production facility.
IBM’s Technology Collaboration Solutions unit helps clients collaborate with IBM to rethink and reinvent their R&D operations and the products they bring to market. It helps clients leverage IBM technology, intellectual property, research, process capabilities, systems and expertise to drive innovation into their own core products and services. Technology Collaboration Solutions provides expertise in the rapidly growing world of digitalization and network connected products and services - - complementing existing customer skills with IBM's 50+ years of digital and information technology, insight and experience.

Sektor has released a playable version of C-Dogs for the DS, heres the info:
C-Dogs is an arcade shoot-em-up which lets players work alone and co-operativly during missions, and against each other in the "dogfight" deathmatch mode. The DOS version of C-Dogs came with several built in missions and dogfight maps, and this version is no exception.
C-Dogs is partially playable now. It runs slower than normal. There's no way to exit the game over screen, so don't die. Automap doesn't work yet. The font is almost unreadable. It uses Chishm's libfat to read the data files and save settings, so it will only be compatible with devices supported by libfat-nds-20060722 (won't work on G6).

wosret posted a new version of his game for the Nintendo DS, heres whats new:
New features:
The MAIL bug that caused crashes and strange items to appear should now be fixed when compiling under Linux.
The tileset data has been moved to main RAM. This means no more limits on tile sizes, but you must be sure to set tile_width and tile_height correctly or the game will probably crash. Also, keep the tiles a reasonable size or you may run out of RAM for the game to use.
Some help files have now been included with the binary distribution. All the options on the help menu should work now.
