New release from Kaktus|621
Hi !
I'm now on a point, where I can release my Homebrew I call it NoNameDS (YES, not a very exciting name and it should be a collection of usefull Applications and small Games for the DS. It is in the Version 1.3 - not many functions yet, but it'll come you can be sure in this point.
Now the Program has :
* A tool for showing the Pixel-Position on the TS (not very useful, but for programmers, why not ?!
* A Counter (nothing's to explain in this point)
* A reaction tester (You have to tap as fast as you can the red X's an on the upper Screen it shows your last and your average time)
* Snake DS (my first self-made game The whole "Snake-Engine" is made by, also the gfx)
* Icy-Tower DS (I think you know that game from the PC, it's quite funny you have to jump up and up and up, Game is still in Beta State, means there is missing a lot (jumping from down through the platforms but standing on them, points, time, "auto-scroll" etc.)
* Credits (self-explaining )
The bold Thing is my Highlight of the Homebrew, the cursiv is still in "production" ;-)
Oh my god I now realized, that Icy Tower doesn't works anymore.... I think I make another thread in the help section But anyway, here's the Version WITHOUT a working Icy Tower - Sorry !

After incredible anticipation, all the key details relating to Nintendo's Wii and its Australian debut will finally be revealed this week, and relayed to the rest of the country via national television.
Seven News in Melbourne has filmed for a forthcoming news story today, relating to Nintendo's new generation home console, Wii. The exclusive report will go to air on Friday and will contain those elusive details, Seven has confirmed.

Further, a series of foreign press events are about to kick off, with Nintendo Co. in Japan set to make announcements from 11:00AM (AEST) tomorrow, September 14th. Details from Nintendo of America will filter through later tomorrow night, and Nintendo of Europe will make the rounds leading into Friday.

According to long-standing online Nintendo leak sources, the Wii will ship with a system updater disc when it goes on sale in the coming months. The content of the disc - referred to internally at Nintendo as Wii Start-Up Disc - is unknown, though it is speculated that a firmware update is required for the first batch of Wii hardware already waiting to go on sale.
As you will have read, Nintendo has recently dropped hints that it's well underway with Wii production a direct reaction to Sony's well-publicised issues with PlayStation 3 manufacture.
Further speculation outlines the Wii online beta test will take place between September 18 and October 23 and will seek to bottom out all bugs in the Wii's Virtual Console, WiiConnect24 and 'other' online elements. Some assert that this test essentially dates the console for an October 23 launch, though as you know, an online service can launch well after its host hardware.
It's also worth pointing out that Nintendo has already let slip the fact that any online offering the Wii will have over launch will be scant at best, with third-parties complaining that they are unable to provide 'Net play on day one.
At time of going to press, it is unknown if any Nintendo first-party titles will make use of the Wii's access to Nintendo's online services.

Speaking to IGN, Madden NFL 07 for Wii Producer Jason Armenise revealed the football title's two-on-two multiplayer mode. Schoolyard rules apply, including the five-Mississippi rush (also known as bananas or steamboats, apparently). Drumming the controller up and down causes the defensive end on screen to count "one Mississippi, two Mississippi, ..." -- drum faster and the count speeds up.
The most intriguing addition, however, is the buzz communication system. While on the offense, players can tap the A button on their Wii remote and cause their partner's controller to vibrate accordingly -- it's up to the partners to decide ahead of time what each rumbled message means. Devious usages aside, why hasn't anyone every thought of this before? We like the idea, but fear the ramifications of confusing Morse code transmissions:
"You buzzed once!"
"I know, dude. One buzz means go left!"
"No, it means I'm going run so you gotta cover me!"
"No, dude, that's two short buzzes, a long buzz, and another short buzz!"
"Aww, [buzz] off!"

Mr. Miyamoto, in an interview with Nintendo's .jp site, explains some of the logic behind the Wii-mote. From the Gamespot article: "In the process of contemplating how to make a controller that was not intimidating but still allowed for traditional game play, Miyamoto had this realization: 'There's no need to use both hands.' He added that the idea was to break the existing conventions a little, but not too much. 'If you go too far off the deep end, the product will be eccentric for the sake of being eccentric,' Miyamoto said."

September 13th, 2006, 23:20 Posted By: wraggster
Publisher Majesco has praised the lower development costs of Nintendo's Wii console, and intends to refocus its business to take advantage of the system's potential.
As well as as bringing Bust-A-Move Revolution to market, the publisher revealed it has plans for more Wii titles heading into 2007.
"Looking forward, we believe that Nintendo's new Wii console has excellent potential to capture the mass market gamer while remaining within our more conservative cost structure," revealed Jesse Sutton, Majesco's interim chief executive officer.
"As such, we are expanding our strategic focus to capitalise on the potential of this system, and currently have two Wii games in development. Going into our last quarter, we are looking to our holiday line-up to build momentum for 2007," he added.
The comments came as Majesco announced its third quarter financial results, with net revenues of US$ 12.6 million, up from US$ 4.6 million for the same period in 2005.
Despite this climb, overall net revenues for the current financial year are down from US$ 55.1 million to US$ 48.3 million.
Majesco recently opted out of publishing full-price console games, in order to refocus on smaller titles after disappointing sales of games such as BloodRayne 2 and the critically acclaimed Psychonauts.
"We are pleased with our third quarter performance and the progress we've made refocusing Majesco's game publishing business," commented Sutton.
"This quarter we achieved a substantial improvement in our results over the third quarter of 2005 due to a more conservative approach to game development, an improved cost structure and strong sales of Jaws Unleashed," he concluded.

News from Lik Sang
Who would have suspected of all places, Square Enix would produce a Mario Basketball game this year. Originally developed without the midis touch of being a Mario title, they decided the style would be perfectly suited for it, and Nintendo agreed. The first of its kind on the DS, you've never played Basketball like this before. Almost all controls use the touch screen, for example you tap the stylus to move your character while he dribbles, then swipe a line in various directions when you want to pass or shoot. When you're without the ball jumping and stealing is pulled off using the touch screen, and pressing L lets you switch between your three team members. From both Mario and Final Fantasy universes there's 21 characters such as Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Black Mage, Moogle, Cactura, Birdo, Fly Guy and so many more, each with crazy slam dunks and special moves. The 9 courts also range from Mario’s Arena to Wario's Factory, Bowser's Castle, Luigi's Mansion and others, not to forget the Final Fantasy Field.
Items like Red Shells, Bob-ombs, well placed Banana Peels and more can turn the tide as you shoot and chase down coins. Coins affect the score, so grabbing them on your way to the hoop is an important step to winning. In addition to the Tournament and Exhibition matches, you can play Challenge Games to help you practice, perform special shots, or take part in a dribble race time attack. Two player local wireless games are also supported, and if you two only have one copy of the game you can still play Dibble Race and Coin Hunter by wirelessly sending the other console those mini games. The US edition landed this week in addition to the Japanese release, and since there's no region locking on the DS, either will run no matter where you bought your handheld from.

Events leading to Resi 4 to be revealed? Well, so say reports - and more besides
Capcom somewhat inadvertently has unveiled a new Resi title, Biohazard: Umbrella Chronicles in Japan, according to reports from Japanese games bible Famitsu (Biohazard is the Japanese name of the series for those of you not in the know).
Details on the game are currently sketchy, but it's being suggested that Umbrella Chronicles covers Umbrella's story/operations prior to, and leading up to, Resident Evil 4 and that it additionally fills in plot blanks between other existing Resi titles.
In connection with this, there's talk of locations from previous games in the survival horror series being included, and with Producer Masachika Kawata who was responsible for Res Evil 4 and Onimusha in the frame for dev duties, it might well be the Res Wii-ville we're salivating for - or something else entirely.
How on the money these details are, we can't say, but it's reckoned Capcom will fully unveil Resident Evil on Wii at the Tokyo Game Show later this month. Whether Biohazard: Umbrella Chronicles is one and the same or an entirely different Biohazard covert op, well, there's not long to wait and see.

JerryM posted this:
Hello folks.
I am posting about my first NDS project. As the subject shows, it is a Babel Fish translator for Ninteno DS .
The idea of the program is to allow you to translate text wherever you have WiFi access. I've been working on it for about 2-3 days now (at the time of posting). Today I updated the graphics, but you can see they are not all updated yet.
Notice: You cannot actually translate anything yet! I am still working hard. I have a deadline for friday to have everything up and running for everyones enjoyment. I will keep everyone updated .
Incase anyone wants to try it out (no point really, there is no functionality yet), you can find a EMULATOR build below. By EMULATOR build, I mean that the Wifi code has been removed so that it will not crash emulators, but it will still run on hardware.
I have only tested it with a DS Phat (firmware v2.0), using GBAMPv2 and a Datel Max Media Launcher (NoPass) through MoonShell. If you want to, try to run it on your hardware and tell me how it works :-).
Known Bugs:
- When switching menu's, the screen "flickers" : This is not really a bug as it is my own stupidity. I know what causes it, and how to fix it, but it will be too much trouble to fix it as of now.
PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THERE IS NEARLY NO FUNCTIONALITY AT ALL. IT DOES NOT YET ACTUALLY TRANSLATE!
Here you can find an EMULATOR build download:
