We're pretty sure that at least one of you have solved the 10 math problems exercise in Brain Age: Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day. We aren't sure, however, that some of you have done it in 8 or less seconds. Considering this individual is exploiting the system a tad through the use of chicken scratch writing, we can't give him much credit.

According to the official Excite Truck site, leaping your flame-spouting monster truck over a tropical chasm will be limited to two simultaneous daredevils in multiplayer.
As far as I'm concerned, that's all the better. Split-screen multiplayer is trying enough when you're dealing with only one horizontal hemisphere of your television set. Playing in postage stamps has never appealed to me.

Still bitching about the Wii's pricing? Knock. It. Off. While Nintendo's new console will launch mid-November in America for US $250, the same machine will launch in boarding Mexico for $4,490 pesos. That's approximately US $450! And when does it launch? By the end of November. Maybe. A quick look at the Nintendo of Mexico website shows the travesty that gamers there must deal with: As of posting, the site still mentions an upcoming console dubbed the Revolution. Nintendo's world map, like competing console makers' as well, seems to include only Japan, Canada/US and Europe. Everyone else, tough titty.

Nintendo just confirmed that the Wii will be playable during their Nintendo Fusion Tour.
The cross-country tour, which starts Sept. 27 and stars Hawthorne Heights, will feature multiple Wii consoles hooked-up and ready to play as well as "DS games like Elite Beat Agents".
Some of the Wii games scheduled to make the tour include Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Wii Sports, Excite Truck, WarioWare: Smooth Moves and Activision's Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam. The games aren't set in stone, but it sounds like this is one good reason to make the show. I wonder how the Wii announcment is going to effect ticket sales?

When the Nintendo Wii goes on sale in the US on November 19, it's certain to be popular. But some are even more enthusiastic about its chances for success, including Hirokazu Hamamura, president of Tokyo-based video-game researcher Enterbrain Inc. and Editor-in-Chief of Famitsu, a highly-regarded and influential gaming mag in Japan. He gushed about the upcoming $250 console in an interview with Bloomberg.com:
"Wii definitely could become the most popular console of all time. Non-gamers can see how fun it is just by looking at people playing it, and that's very different from the PS3 or Xbox 360.''
Sure, the Wii is going to be a good value for the money, but is Hamamura overstating it a bit? Comments?

Nintendo is planning an internet matchmaking system for Wii's online multiplayer games in a similar fashion to the friend code trading setup used by DS, according to Nintendo of America president, Reggie Fils-Aime.
"We believe that the friend's code approach is consistent with our whole strategy," Fils-Aime stated during an online interview with the Rocky Mountain News. "Will we take a similar approach for the Wii? Yes."
The DS friend code system works by giving each DS owner a unique code for each game they play online. You can't actually play with anyone online in Animal Crossing: Wild World, for instance, unless you have their friend code. However some games - Mario Kart, for instance - will let you simply search for active games like most other online multiplayer setups, and the friend code is just used for identification.
Some gamers protest that the system restricts online multiplayer. However, within the Wii Channel system that Nintendo has created - a similar system to 360's dashboard - you can create your own avatar using the Mii Channel, perhaps suggesting that Nintendo see Wii online using a Xbox Live gamer tag style setup, instead of forcing you to use unfriendly streams of numbers like the DS friend codes.
We'll have to wait and see what the final plans are for Wii's online servce, but Nintendo are expected to announce the final details very soon.

from gamestop:
Source: Reports springing up in a number of gaming hangouts, including Gaming Age Forums and Cheap Ass Gamer.
The official story: See below.
What we heard: Even on their best days, most gaming message boards are not known as level-headed venues where different ways of thinking are welcome or accepted. So when Cheap Ass Gamer forum-goer "Hack" posted a picture of a GameStop flier over the weekend that said the retailer was requiring the $50 deposit on Wii and PlayStation 3 pre-orders to be paid in game trade-ins (cash or credit not accepted!), there was naturally much ado.
Gamers took the news and ran with it, spreading it around various message boards and getting a bit of coverage from news aggregators as well. However, as the news spread, it seemed certain nuances were lost. The original poster, Hack, updated his post to clarify things as he understood them after a call back to the store where he picked up the flier.
"I will repeat that I never said this was official, or meant this to be an official nationwide announcement," Hack wrote in an update to his post. "As the beginning of this post has always stated (or rather, used to state), I'm not aware if this is a nationwide trend or not (and we have learned that it currently IS NOT). I do live in Hawaii, and therefore this could only be in my region. This is basically a small scale test of this new pre-ordering method. That means that if this test succeeds in Hawaii, it could possibly take effect nationwide."
It seems the GameStop employee who filled Hack in had the facts straight. A spokesman for the retailer told us today that the pre-order stipulation is real, but stressed that it is only a test, and one that the company is conducting only in Hawaii. He also said the test began and ended today, and that the company doesn't have an official nationwide program for pre-orders yet. It's unknown if Hawaiian customers will get another crack at pre-orders in the nationwide program, whatever form it may take.
The test is over, and it will be a little while before we see whether or not GameStop decides to embrace that strategy on a nationwide basis. However, it seems likely that GameStop, and possibly other retailers as well, would do something to improve their bottom line on console launches.
Whereas the profit on new game hardware is traditionally very small, the profit on selling used games is considerably higher. Requiring trade-ins to cover the deposit would be one way for retailers to better their bottom lines without requiring the bundled purchases that have become common from online retailers, including GameStop's own Web store.
Bogus or not bogus?: Bogus that the plan is nationwide. Not bogus that GameStop was using Hawaii to test consumer reaction to the idea.
Hmm but they still did try it on regardless of what they say

News from Lik Sang
Whereas some game sequels just add in a few improvements and a new coat of paint, this new US release of Naruto Clash of the Ninja 2 is truly Naruto to the power of 2, and then some! Staying true to the anime episodes aired on the Cartoon Network so far, the original title had but 12 levels while this sequel packs in 30 different cell shaded stages! Also rather than just fighting one-on-one there’s all combinations of four player brawls here; one vs. three; two vs. two; two player co-op versus team and team battles. You can also forget about the mere 10 player selection in the original, now there's 23, adding to the mix Kiba Inuzuka, Neji Hyuga, Might Guy, Shikamaru Nara, Ino Yamanaka, Hinata Hyuga, Gaara, Kankuro, Orochimaru, Akamaru, Karasu and Mizuki. All characters have new attacks and beefed up fighting skills, many of which include character-specific moves that add to the feeling of authenticity that goes beyond the first GameCube title.

There's 14 different game choices to check out, from standard story mode to survival, time attack, training, shopping and more, like matching up characters and taking away the human element, letting the CPU battle it out to see who really comes out on top. To match the show the US ports have been spaced apart much like the Japanese originals were. If that continues to be the case there's about a year wait till the next release, then again till the fourth. You can however pick up the Japanese editions below right now, or go for the US title due in this week. Either way don't forget GameCube games also work with the upcoming Nintendo Wii.

Nintendo UK boss David Yarnton has thrown down the gauntlet to his gaming rivals, promising more stock for Wii this Christmas than any previous launch in the company's history - but warned that shortages were inevitable, boasting that "20 million wouldn't be enough" such is demand for the console.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Eurogamer TV, broadcast today, Nintendo's UK general manager made the bold pledge while stressing the increasingly key role Europe is now playing in realising the Japanese firm's ambitions to expand the reach of gaming.
"We've sold close to six million units of DS hardware since launch and four million Nintendogs, so Europe is a very important market for our company and growing," Yarnton insisted.
"[With Wii] we're looking at about four million units before the end of the year globally and Europe will get a reasonable proportion of that," he added. "The stock that we're looking to get we believe will probably be more than we've ever had for any console launch. But from the feedback we've had from our retailers, whatever we have won't be enough as the demand from people is really heating up for it."
Asked if this meant he expected shortages of Wii hardware this Christmas, Yarnton clarified: "Most definitely. I think if we could produce 20 million it wouldn't be enough on a global basis because it's really something that's going to appeal to people who are not gamers as well. We're expanding the market so there's going to be a lot of demand from people who wouldn't normally be buying videogames."
However, Yarnton was unable to elaborate on the "reasonable proportion" of units he expects for his own territory, stating: "At this stage we haven't broken it down into territories yet because of the timing and also production." Yarnton confirmed that Nintendo UK plans to hold meetings with retailers in "mid-October" by which time it expects to have more concrete territory-specific information.
Meanwhile, Yarnton also defended the UK price tag of Wii - which is set to launch for GBP 179 on December 8th - following cries that the relatively high SRP compared with other territories was another example of 'Rip-Off Britain'.
"GPB 179 is actually really good value because you also get Wii Sports with it as well," he argued. "We don't actually set a price, it's up to retailers what price - it's a recommendation."
Elsewhere in the interview, the ebullient Australian describes how the Wii Points system will work, explains why Nintendo believes people will want to use the console for browsing the Internet rather than a PC and reveals which games the company hopes will achieve its goal of attracting new audiences to gaming.

Nintendo fanboys can breathe again: The Legend of Zelda: The Twilight Princess will, after all, be coming to the UK in time for this Christmas.
Nintendo UK has confirmed that the GameCube version of the game -- originally down for a release concurrent with the Wii launch but subsequently delayed, as we reported, will arrive after the Wii launch, but in "mid-December".
The company blamed the slight slippage on the effort which it will have to put into launching the Wii, which is entirely understandable. The game will provide considerable consolation for GameCube owners who can't afford to buy a Wii -- but come on it's less than £180, so surely the vast majority will be wanting to splash out on Nintendo's exciting new console.

"We want to appeal to mothers," says Nintendo president, Satoru Iwata
Nintendo's Wii is aiming to win over many first-time console buyers, including elderly women and mothers, says Nintendo president, Satoru Iwata.
Speaking to Bloomberg, the Wii boss says that targeting the female non-gamer could help Wii break all of the console boundaries: "We want to appeal to mothers who don't want consoles in their living rooms, and to the elderly and to young women," he says. "It's a challenge, like trying to sell cosmetics to men."
In the article, president of Enterbrain and Famitsu editor-in-chief, Hirokazu Hamamura also predicts a rosy future for Nintendo's console, saying that it could become "the most popular console of all time." "Non-gamers can see how fun [Wii] is just by looking at people playing it," he says, "and that's very different from the PS3 or Xbox 360."
Nintendo's lady-targeting Wii strategy could be on the back of its runaway success with DS games like Nintendogs and Dr. Kawashima's Brain Training, which have both discovered large female audiences. Nintendo hopes that the Wii's unique features will make it even more successful than the handheld: "If we can do this," Iwata says, "the Wii could break all the boundaries in terms of user rates for game consoles."
Nintendo Wii is out in Europe on December 8.

Fresh from Nintendo's European Wii bash we've got four new Red Steel shots showing off Ubisoft's sword-slasher, which is looking even better than when we last saw it at the Leipzig Games Convention.
Past play impressions have painted a promising picture for the Wii-waving shooter, which lets you swing katana swords at yakuza gang bosses, as well as blast their henchman modern-style with an arsenal of guns and explosives. Thankfully, Ubi have also addressed the previously 'fixed' sword controls, which now emulate your every gesture, leaving you free to look like even more of a prat in front of the telly.
Red Steel launches alongside the Wii on December 8

Nintendo fans finally have a price and release date for the company's new generation console, Wii. The Big N has officially announced that the system will hit retail in North and South America for $249.99 on November 19. The New York Times initially published the story and seems, in fact, to have beaten Nintendo Co. Ltd with the news.
Nintendo's Wii console will come packaged with one Wii remote, one nunchuck attachment, an AC adapter, an audio/video cable, a sensor bar, sensor bar stand, a Wii console stand, and two batteries. The US package will also come bundled with a copy of Wii Sports, a compilation sports game that best shows off the mechanics of the system's unique controller. Wii Sports features tennis, baseball, golf, and previously-unannounced bowling and boxing games.
Nintendo said it would provide Wii owners with more than 25 unique games this year.
Wii's much-talked-about Virtual Console download service, which enables gamers to purchase classic games, will offer a library of some 30 titles by the end of the year. Titles will include entries from the Mario, Zelda and Donkey Kong franchises, Nintendo said. Virtual Console games will cost between $5 and $10 each. Specifically, Nintendo Co. Ltd. announced that Virtual Console games would cost 500 yen ($5), 800 yen ($8) or 1,000 yen ($10); we're presuming these prices are for NES, SNES, and N64 games respectively.
The Big N confirmed that it would charge $49.99 for its new Wii games, which is $10 cheaper than the cost of typical Xbox 360 titles. (Please note that this price is for first-party games; prices have not been announced for third-party Wii games -- publishers are free to set their own prices on Wii titles.)
Nintendo revealed that Wii's various controllers would be available to buy separately at launch. The Wii remote will cost $39.99; the nunchuck $19.99 and the classic controller about $20.
In a surprise announcement, Nintendo said that it wanted to make Wii a living room centerpiece by shipping the system with features outside of the videogame realm. Wii will include a photo channel, enabling users to display their digital photos through the console. It will also boast regularly updated news and weather channels. In addition, the Opera browser will be available for the system, enabling users to access the web with the console.
One of the channels available on Wii is called the "Mii Channel." Here, players can customize avatars by selecting from a variety of face shapes, hair styles, color schemes, and so on. The hook is that these avatars can not only be stored on the console itself, they can also be transferred to the Wii remote itself -- presumably so players can easily access their personalized characters and take them with them when playing against friends.
Sony recently announced that it would ready 400,000 PS3s in North America and another 100,000 in Japan for the system's launch. Nintendo said it plans to ship 4 million Wii units worldwide by the end of the year.
Nintendo will launch Wii in Japan on December 2 of this year for 25,000 yen, the company revealed. North America will get the system first.
Nintendo of Japan has added an amazing breakdown of the Wii's various interfaces to its overseas website. Everything is in Japanese, but the videos speak for themselves. Readers can check the site directly for a 14-page walkthrough of the system's ambitious features. Included in the list of options are demonstrations of the weather forecast, Mii, and photo channels. The forecast launches a virtual globe that can be spun in any direction. In the photo channel, users can load hundreds of their favorite photos and edit them in real-time. It's possible to message friends with Mii character profiles and to send pictures in messages. And the videos demonstrate surfing the Web with Wii's Opera browser. These are absolute must-see videos.
