According to a press release, the publisher has been granted an official publishing license by Nintendo of America, and is set to begin releasing its current line-up of Wii and DS software in the region.
"Becoming an official Nintendo publisher for North America is very integral to our growth strategy for 2009," said Playlogic executive VP Rogier Smit. Playlogic, based in the Netherlands, has released titles such as Pool Hall Pro, Vertigo and Sudoku Ball - Detective in Europe. Nintendo has announced that all three games in its Metroid Prime series will be released as Metroid Prime Trilogy on one Wii disc.
Metroid Prime Trilogy launches August 24 in the US, and will contain updated versions of Gamecube games Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2: Echoes with new Wii motion controls. Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, which was released as a stand-alone Wii game in 2007, will also be included in the compilation.
"Metroid Prime Trilogy puts the best first-person adventures all in one place, with a host of new additions that make these three timeless titles more engaging than ever," said Nintendo of America executive VP of sales & marketing Cammie Dunaway in a press release. "A great deal of care and detail has gone into Metroid Prime Trilogy, providing longtime fans with new ways to experience the games they love."
The compilation disc is being developed by Retro Studios, the team behind all three original games. In addition to new Wii motion controls in the series' first two entries, Metroid Prime Trilogy also promises a "unified main menu," a new achievement-style system, in-game rewards, and widescreen support.
A Wii version of the original Metroid Prime was released exclusively in Japan earlier this year under its "Wii de Asobu" line of games that have been re-coded to take advantage of the Wii's unique game controllers. Though most games in the product line have been released in North America and Europe under the "New Play Control!" monicker, the Metroid Prime series was noticeably absent prior to this announcement.

News/release from eglomer
I thought I've posted this here, but...
Well, MysdiaDS is a very, very incomplete MMORPG in which I had been working in, but I decided to leave it and share the full source code (images, sprites, etc). Currently, the game has implemented:
- Login and account creation system.
- character creation and character selection system.
- Characters movement in the game with their names in their heads.
- Map location
- Chat
- Spanish and english language.
But it has a big bug: a few minutes after you enter to the world map, wifi system breaks and DS can't connect to the server (which is made in PHP).
I'm glad only with this, but If someone wants to continue my project or use it for his own project, just download the source code and feel free of use it. The source code is under a Creative Commons license (by-nc).

Now that the DSi has launched in all three major territories, people have been wondering how long it will be before Nintendo decides to lower the price of the DS Lite.
However, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata seems to have no plans for a price cut, at least for the time being. In the company’s 69th financial results briefing Q&A for the fiscal year gone by, Iwata fielded a question along just those lines.
Q: I’d like to ask you about price. You once said that you do not want to cut price because doing so would make early purchasers feel like they lost their money. But I think you may want to consider a price cut of Nintendo DS Lite in order to increase domestic sales. Including myself, those who have purchased a Nintendo DS Lite early on have also purchased a Nintendo DSi, so they should not feel regret even if you cut the price of Nintendo DS Lite. What is your current thinking on price cuts?
Iwata: First of all, thank you very much for purchasing several of our products. When I was referring to this subject the last time, it was in the context that it would not be a good idea for price cuts to be expected as a regular practice in the industry. Of course, I have never said that cutting the suggested retail price is not in the cards. However, price cuts in one country can certainly affect other countries. For example, when you say that we should cut the price in Japan due to the current domestic market situation, once the suggested retail price is cut in Japan, people outside Japan will anticipate the same around the world.
10 or 15 years ago, each country could decide its own price policy in the video game market, as you know, however, price policy has become a global subject in the recent years. So, any price policy must be considered with the aim to maximize our global business. Because of this, we do not think just in terms of Japan.
Also, while the price cut is said to surely increase demand, it must be clear from a variety of analysis so far that the effect cannot last very long. Accordingly, if we really do enact a price cut, it must be exactly when it can maximize the business. At least for now, I have no specific ideas about the price cut at all.
There are bound to be a fair number of people that aren’t completely sold on the DSi yet and might just end up picking up a DS Lite instead. Indeed, Nintendo of America’s executive vice-president of sales and marketing, Cammie Dunaway has also stated that she believes the DS Lite and DSi can co-exist on retail shelves for some time.
Taking this into account, it’s obvious that a price cut might not be in the company’s best interests right now, given Nintendo’s global view on pricing.

Hey all!
I'm currently working on PaddleDS and thought it was ready for a bèta release .
This isn't my first game, others were lost when my harddrive failed... It is however my first ever release
There isn't much to do yet, the only menu option that works is "Play Game", but the others will be working soon.
The game itself is far from finished, it's fine to get a first game play impression though!
Have fun and post your ideas and feedback here
Quipeace
Changelog:

V 0.1:
Cleaned up sourcecode, now featuring pointers
Added score system and increasing difficulty

Lazy1 posted this update to his port of Wolfenstein 3D to the DS:
Another feature I added in today:
It comes after episode select screen and before the skill select screen, I guess this is useful if you want to kill the bosses randomly.
[Added]
I've started on an options screen but the only 2 options I can think of are to smooth out scaling artifacts and swapping the dpad with abxy.

spiffen has released CombatWii 0.1
CombatWii is a remake (slightly enhanced) of the classic game Combat that was available on the Atari 2600 system. The game is developed with devkitPro tools and is using GRRLIB for rendering, sndlib for music and sound, and wiiuse for wiimote support.
A game based on the old Atari tank shoot-em up game Combat. The Wii version is actually a semi-port of a PC game me and 2 other university students developed as a software project back in 2001. The game was programmed in C++ and utilized the following two libraries; Allegro (gamedev lib), Libnet (network lib). The game worked out pretty well and we had alot fun developing it. The final version (only version to be released) included 4 different game types; Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, Panic & Run For It!. It also included 6 different weapons; Machine gun, Rocket launcher, Laser cannon, Grenade launcher, Mine layer/sweeper and Freeze cannon. Not all weapons were available from start, instead you had to hunt down bonus boxes, aka Pick-ups, that randomly appeared on the map. These pickups did not just contain new weapons, they could also be power-ups that gave more health, increased your speed, increased detail level on radar, etc, so your primary goal was not always to kill your opponents, but instead to hunt down these bonuses. In the 2 latter game types two special objects were used: Flag; An object you strived to grab and hold on to, and Bomb; An object to stay away from. The game was a multi direction scroller with quite large maps. Only one player could play on the same screen, so network play was a must if you wanted to play against others. To give the player a good overview of what was happening on the map (maps were often 2-3 times larger than the screen) a radar was located on the players sidebar (HUD), where also the players health and score were shown.
Goal
For the WIP version of CombatWii I'm going to reuse alot of the original graphics (but in smaller resolution). Hopefully I will get time later to redo the graphics closer to launch, but for now the main focus is on game objects and game engine code to enable all the features in the game. The game will not be an exact port of the PC version, this because of some constraints of the Wii console and to make the game funnier to play together in front of your TV. First - all players will play on the same screen. Because of this no up/down/side scrolling will be used (maps size will be restricted to screen size), since all players must be visible at the same time. To maximize the playing field the sidebar with radar and player scores had to go. Player scores will still be shown on the screen, but in a more mimimalistic way. Second - Since the Wii is lacking the functionality of supporting multiple keyboards and mices the controll scheme of the game has been changed from keyboard + mouse to Wiimote + Nunchuck. In the PC version you controlled the gun turrent with the mouse (rotation left/right, fire, change weapon) and the ship with the keyboard. On the Wii version you will control the ship with the Nunchuck control stick, and aim using the Wiimote (turret will follow your pointer/crosshair).

Square Enix refreshed their Nanashi no Game (Nameless Game) website last night. Instead of describing the game and hosting a flash demo most of the information is gone. Click around on the mirrored site and you appear on a page that says you should return in seven days. Famitsu explains this is linked to an announcement.
Nanashi no Game is a Nintendo DS horror game with inspiration from The Ring. After playing a cursed RPG the character is condemned to die in seven days. Solving the riddle means searching the “real” world and entering the cursed game on a virtual “TS” handheld.
Nanashi no Game came out in Japan last July so what is Square Enix planning to announce? An English version? Nah. Square Enix USA or Europe would do that. Perhaps, this is related to the Nier trademark Square Enix recently filed, the doing business with Grasshopper Manufacture blip, or both.
