It's time to throw, bash, and party, as the EA Play Label of Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS) announces BOOM BLOX Bash Party for Wii has shipped to stores in North America today and will hit stores in Europe beginning May 28. EA and Steven Spielberg continue their collaboration to bring players this highly-anticipated sequel to last year's critically-acclaimed BOOM BLOX game for Wii, which earned more than a dozen awards and received recognition from parenting organizations, media outlets and the gaming industry. With more than 400 new levels, stunning new worlds, and twice as much multiplayer game play, BOOM BLOX Bash Party brings tons of action-packed fun for the whole family.
"The original BOOM BLOX really came from a need to bring families back into the same space playing games together," said Steven Spielberg. "We had so many more creative ideas that we wanted to put into the sequel, and BOOM BLOX Bash Party really takes the original concept to a whole new level of interactive family gaming."
BOOM BLOX Bash Party features nearly twice as many multiplayer challenges as the original BOOM BLOX making it the ultimate party game! Players will have a blast playing with or against friends in co-op, versus and new team-based challenges. Whether playing solo or with friends, BOOM BLOX Bash Party will have players off the couch, throwing, bashing and slinging blox like never before!
In addition to the more than 400 new levels in BOOM BLOX Bash Party, players can also easily download new levels created by EA and the BOOM BLOX Bash Party community at no additional charge with an Internet-connected Wii. EA will make 40 additional levels available at launch with many more to come. In addition, players can create their own levels using the game's enhanced Create Mode, and submit those levels to be posted and made available to the community. Over time, BOOM BLOX Bash Party owners will have access to many more downloadable levels in addition to those already included in the game.
"We are thrilled to be able to offer players a constant stream of new and exciting levels in BOOM BLOX Bash Party," said Amir Rahimi, Senior Producer. "The EA team has been working hard creating exciting new levels that will be made available over time, and we cannot wait to see the passion and creativity the BOOM BLOX Bash Party community members put into making their own shared levels."
EA takes the destruction to new heights with four stunning new themed worlds including Space, Pirate, Heroic and Show Time! Players will experience action puzzle game play in new physical environments like zero gravity and under water. Players will also encounter exciting new block types, like Virus, Conveyor and Push blox; new block shapes like cylinders and wedges, and engaging new tools, like the cannon and the slingshot. A new cast of characters, as well as favorites from the original BOOM BLOX, are now part of the puzzle-solving strategy. Players can now throw, grab or sling them, and watch them fly, knocking down blox and causing eye-popping explosions!
Developed by the EA Casual Studios, BOOM BLOX Bash Party is rated E for Everyone by the ESRB and 3+ by PEGI. The game has a US MSRP of $39.99. For more information, visit http://boomblox.ea.com.

Developer Press Play has unveiled a 2D platformer for WiiWare called Max and the Magic Marker. Players will control both Max and the marker – as Max runs and jumps players can draw objects into the environment for him to interact with. Sounds a lot like Drawn to Life. Press Play says it is aiming to make "a game you can play with – not just play."
When Max receives a curious marker in the mail he finds whatever he draws will spring to life. After doodling a monster the beast jumps into Max's other drawings and begins wreaking havoc. The monster has to be put down, so Max caricatures himself into the picture and sets out on his adventure.
Max and the Magic MarkerPlayers control max with the nunchuk and point with the remote to draw. The game employs a physics system that governs whatever is drawn. The more ink you use on an object the heavier it will be.
Press Play hopes to release Max and the Magic Marker this Fall. Fifteen levels are planned, which should add up to around three hours of gameplay.

Dragon Ball and Naruto are back in the gaming headlines over in Japan, and it looks like owners of all three consoles can take part in the fun.
Leaked images from an upcoming issue of Jump Magazine confirm Dragon Ball Raging Blast for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 as well as a separate Dragon Ball game (whose full name we weren't able to confirm) for the Wii.
Raging Blast looks like a fighting game in the vein of Sparking. Keywords splashed across the page include "High Speed," "Destruction" and "Wide," the latter in reference to large stages of play.
The Wii title appears to be a side scrolling action game featuring young Goku as the main character. There are some hints that the game will make use of motion controls in some capacity.
Japan will get the Wii title this Summer. The PS3 and Xbox 360 title is currently without a final date.
Even less is known about the new Naruto game, which is being developed for the Wii. The announcement actually comes in the form of a coloring contest where readers of Jump get to add color to a drawing of Naruto, with the best work making it into the final game as an optional costume.
The Jump article refers to the Naruto game as a "10th anniversary dream project." A Japanese release is planned for this Winter.

May 19th, 2009, 21:44 Posted By: wraggster
SEGA of America, Inc. today announced Daisy Fuentes Pilates, the first Pilates workout program for the Wii. Set at a lush tropical resort and hosted by Daisy Fuentes, longtime Pilates icon and star of the entertainment industry, the title supports the Wii Balance Board. Created in partnership with Interactive Game Group, Daisy Fuentes Pilates features customizable workouts, fitness tracking real-time coaching and interactive feedback.
Daisy Fuentes Pilates, the first self-titled Pilates endeavor, goes beyond the one-way, static workouts of traditional DVDs using the Wii's controls to monitor movements and offer instant feedback, ensuring proper body motion so players get the most from every Pilates session. Players stay on track following the integrated, on-screen "timing bar" as well as the real-time feedback from Daisy Fuentes herself, whose voice guides the exercises. Players will be able to choose between English and Spanish.
"This is a great way to get Pilates training that fits your schedule and lifestyle," said Daisy Fuentes. "You can start out as an absolute beginner then move into intermediate and advanced levels--all at your own pace, in the comfort of your own home, and with responsive feedback that helps ensure you're mastering core skills correctly before you advance."
Developed by Joseph Pilates in the early twentieth century, Pilates has become the exercise program of choice for a growing number of enthusiasts on a worldwide scale. Daisy Fuentes Pilates is built around 10 fundamental exercises that players craft into individual workout routines depending on their level of intensity (Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced). Players can track their results – mapping the total amount of exercise completed and how well each movement was performed. Daisy Fuentes also offers exercise and healthy diet tips throughout the program to encourage a full-body approach to health and well-being.
"Pilates is like no other exercise," Daisy Fuentes continued. "It makes your muscles long and lean – not bulky. It focuses on the connection between your mind and body, giving you smooth control over your movements. And the Wii is a great way to practice it – whether you're getting started for the first time or looking for a more convenient way to integrate Pilates into your ongoing exercise routine."
"More and more people are choosing to work-out at home" said SEGA of America's VP of Marketing, Sean Ratcliffe. "Daisy's targeted program for the Wii is a very effective way for the millions of Americans who practice Pilates to bring the experience into their living rooms, without losing the value of a group class and an instructor."
Cuban-born Daisy Fuentes became a household name as an international television star on MTV and MTV Latino; and the first Latin worldwide spokesperson for Revlon. In her storied career she has hosted numerous national television shows, including House of Style and America's Funniest Home Videos. In 2004, Daisy launched a fashion line, which now includes clothing, fragrances, handbags, accessories, sportswear and more. Daisy Fuentes was the spokesperson for the best-selling Winsor Pilates DVD series for many years.
Fr?d?ric Chesnais, founder of Interactive Game Group and Executive Producer for the Title, added: "This project is exactly why I have created I2G, to bring talented people together and facilitate the creation and distribution of interactive entertainment."
The game has been developed by Collision Studios in Los Angeles.
Daisy Fuentes Pilates will be released late summer 2009.

Today the world of video game boxing returns to its roots with the launch of the new Punch-Out!! game for Nintendo's Wii console. The game brings immersive motion controls to an iconic franchise that has been around since the days of the NES. Players are invited to step into the ring as underdog Little Mac as they go toe-to-toe with an array of memorable characters, including familiar faces like Glass Joe, King Hippo and Don Flamenco.
The motion-sensitive Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers turn the swings players make in real life into on-screen punches. Both novice and veteran gamers can pick up Punch-Out!! and punch their way to the top. The optional Wii Balance Board accessory (sold separately with Wii Fit) can be added to provide an extra challenge for advanced players who want to literally bob and weave through their fights. For those who insist on old-school Punch-Out!! purity, the game also can be played with classic NES-style controls by turning the Wii Remote controller sideways.
Even players who have battled through the original games hundreds of times will find new challenges with Punch-Out!! for Wii. For instance, once Little Mac (with the help of trainer Doc Louis) has pummeled his way through all the contenders, they return to offer him new challenges in Title Defense Mode. Only this time, their traditional weaknesses have been eliminated and players must find new ways to achieve victory. In this mode, the once-harmless Glass Joe now wears headgear, and King Hippo's vulnerable belly is protected behind a manhole cover. The new twists ensure fans enjoy a completely new play experience.
For the first time in the Punch-Out!! series, a head-to-head multiplayer mode lets players compete against one another. Both players take on the role of Little Mac and match wits as they trade uppercuts, jabs and body blows. With a series of well-placed punches, Little Mac transforms into the gargantuan Giga Mac, who can land more powerful blows and is more difficult to take down.
"Punch-Out!! is back, keeping all the charm of the original while delivering a knockout punch with new twists to experience and enjoy," said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. "As part of one of Nintendo's most storied franchises, this new Punch-Out!! game will surprise and delight fans with even more ways to enjoy its timeless game play."
Remember that Wii features parental controls that let adults manage the content their children can access. For more information about this and other Wii features, visit Wii.com.

via Eurogamer
SEGA has told Eurogamer Virtua Tennis 2009 will arrive on PC, PS3 and 360 on 29th May. The Wii version will arrive "a few weeks later" in June.
The clarification comes after the US version of the game was stretched to June.
Virtua Tennis on PC, PS3 and 360 looks to be as assured as ever and a safe top-seed for its genre. On Wii the future is less certain but perhaps more exciting, thanks to the addition of Wii MotionPlus controls.

Bleach DS 4th: Flame Bringer isn’t a fighting game and it isn’t an RPG. Similar to Bleach: Soul Carnival, this game is a brawler/platformer minus the super deformed Soul Reapers. Instead of using one screen for a status menu like so many other Nintendo DS platformers do, Bleach DS 4th: Flame Bringer has action on two screens.
Both screens scroll up when Ichigo jumps, but after passing a cutoff point Ichigo can land on the top screen. The videos below show how the system works when Ichigo is in the heat of battle. Another clip on the official page demonstrates how high the stages can be. Click on “movie” (the fourth option) and the first choice under stage (middle menu) to see it.

Whilst the ongoing global dominance of both the Wii and DS means that Nintendo has little time left to ponder its older formats, it seems that former handheld favourite the Game Boy Advance is still selling in its thousands.
Kotaku reports that in 2008 Nintendo’s Game Boy Advance sold an impressive 420,000 units worldwide. Its biggest successes were in emerging markets and parts of Asia.
The Game Boy Advance first hit the market in 2001. At the time it seemed unlikely that it could ever compare to the successes of its predecessor, the Game Boy. Indeed, the first GBA iteration was the subject of some quite brutal criticism, owing mainly to its lack of an internally lit screen.
However, the release of the Game Boy Advance SP in 2003 saw the handheld truly take off. To date it has sold in excess of 80m units – not a million miles away from the Game Boy’s 120m global lifetime sales.

Well, we have to admit a certain principled aversion to any console game that involves jumping, the flailing of the arms, cardio-whatever... anything, really, that Richard Simmons might approve of. It's bad enough that we're being asked to turn in our traditional controllers in for a balance board, but are we really supposed to believe that Electronic Arts -- the company that single-handedly ruined our health during the 1980s as we stayed up for weeks at a time on the quest to save Skara Brae -- could, or should, present the world with a "personal trainer in a box?" Well, if you're one of those people, you'll be happy to know that EA SPORTS Active for Wii is now available in retail stores Stateside, with worldwide release slated for May 22.

News/release from Izhido
A port of id Software's Quake II for the Nintendo Wii, straight from the source code at ftp://ftp.idsoftware.com/idstuff/source/quake2.zip
This is only a proof-of-concept release, nothing official. It's being actively developed; expect heavy changes before the final release.
It will likely crash after some minutes of play, due to unfinished memory-handling code. Still, for these minutes, it's fully playable; with sound & Wiimote support as can be experienced on Q1Rev.
Controls are similar to Q1Rev ones, with the exception of the "C" button on the Nunchuk controller, used now for crouching.

Bannerbomb is an exploit capable of launching homebrew from any version of the System Menu. It was created to replace the Twilight Hack, which does not work on System Menu 4.0.
The exploit works by using a malformed banner to crash the Wii and run code to load the boot.dol placed in the root of the SD card. It can be used to install the Homebrew Channel, DVDx and the BootMii public beta via the HackMii Installer.
v104 - v108
Message "Load /boot.dol?" changed to "Load /boot.dol/elf?"
Attempted to prevent the freeze-after-a-minute bug (other than by disabling WC24)
Added a message about the scam at the first popup
