My Healthy Cooking Coach, the first DSi enhanced game, recently came out. What “enhancements” do DSi owners get? A paltry few recipes. Other publishers like Natsume and Namco Bandai are doing neat things with the camera. Korg DS-10 Plus goes a step further with dual DS-10 mode.
If you play Korg DS-10 Plus on a Nintendo DSi you can activate dual mode which gives music makers more analog synth options, twice the drum machines, and double the tracks. I wonder if AQ Interactive is taking advantage of the DSi’s extra memory…
New features available to Nintendo DS and DSi users are an expanded song mode and real time editing. Korg DS-10 Plus makes music in Japan on September 17. A North American version has not been announced, but AQ Interactive did their faux keynote for Korg DS-10 Plus in English so I would count on an international version.

Japan gets Final Fantasy III (no not the one with Terra, the Onion Knight one on the Famicom) as a Virtual Console game next month. For 500 Wii Points ($5) you can suffer through Garuda in glorious 8-bit.
The other two games are Super Punch Out and Shinobi for Virtual Console Arcade. July 2009 will be the first month where there are less scheduled Virtual Console games than weeks in the month. This guarantees Nintendo will release less than one game a week.
Square Enix will continue to support Virtual Console with at least three more Final Fantasy ports, but I wouldn’t expect too much from the platform in the future.

Takara Tomy's been pretty quiet on the rebooted Toshinden that it announced last October. We don't know that much about the 3D Wii brawler, but at least we know now who is developing it.
That would be Dream Factory, as rooted out by Siliconera. If you're hoping for the best, remember that Dream Factory was responsible for the Tobal series on the original PlayStation, as well as Ergheiz. You know, the one with the tacked on Final Fantasy VII crew?
The down side is that Dream Factory is also responsible for such duds as The Bouncer and Kakuto Chojin, so buyer beware.
At least the artwork's pretty good?

The folks at IGN have got wind that the Japanese release date for Pokémon Heart Gold and Soul Silver for the Nintendo DS is slated for September 12th. Western dates are as yet unconfirmed.
The price tag will be 4,800 yen which is about $50 US and £30 GBP. It'll come packaged with the Poke Walker pedometers menitoned earlier this year.
Oh yeah and there's some new screenshots which can be seen right here.

If your gaming experience seems a little underwhelming for want of little plastic Wii Motion Plus-compatible accessories, it looks like the gang over at Nitho has got your back. A quick trip over to the company's website reveals baseball bats, golf clubs, a revolver / nunchuck, charging docks, and more: all suitable for the make-believe Pete Rose, Arnold Palmer, or Chuck Norris in your life, and all in that boring white plastic that's become synonymous with the game system. We haven't seen a street date or price for these bad boys yet, but we're keeping our eyes peeled. PR after the break.

I spent some time late last week messing around with Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 on the Wii to see what MotionPlus brings to the experience. Quite a lot, it turns out.
As you can see in this video, the biggest addition to the game is the ability for it to detect your wrists position and translate that into the angle you are holding the club. What that means is that if you twist your wrist or body during a swing you'll end up with unintentional fade or bank shots.
It didn't appear that the actual swing detection was any more precise than it is with just the remote, but that makes sense.
Playing through several rounds of golf both ways, I can say without hesitation that MotionPlus adds a whole new facet to the experience, making it much more precise and a bit more dependent on player skill.

Raultecnologia and students of the IES Jovellanos realize "Aventura inform*tica" for the DS, an adventure game created with the game engine Icarus Adventure System Jordi Pérez. The game is only in Spanish, puts you in the shoes of a scientist and you have to solve small puzzles (some more easily than others).

Why settle for cheap plastic imitation when you can have the cheap plastic real thing this fall, with the release of the official Star Wars Lightsaber and Clone Trooper Blaster accessories for the Nintendo Wii.
Manufactured and distributed by Bensussen Deutsch & Associates, Inc., licensed by LucasArts and Nintendo, and marketed under BDA's Power A brand, the three new accessories sport Star Wars-ish detail, perfect for those of you who just can't by with the controls Nintendo provided for games like the upcoming Star Wars The Clone Wars: Republic Heroes.
The lightsaber comes in both Anakin and Yoda flavors, with different colors representing the different...colors...of their lightsabers. I'm not all that up on lightsaber lore, okay? It's a piece of plastic you stick your Wii remote into so you can make realistic whooshing noises with your mouth while you play.
The Clone Trooper Blaster, much like any non-Clone Trooper blaster, features slots for both the Wii remote and the nunchuk, allowing for quick double-trigger action and a feeling of otherworldly power. It also comes with customization stickers, in case that is a feature you were looking for.
All three bits will be out this fall exclusively for the Nintendo Wii, as nothing else fits inside those holes quite so well. Prices weren't listed, but I'm sure they'll fall within the normal $20 range for stuff such as this.

Gaijin Games posted this semi-cryptic puzzle to its official blog yesterday, offering what seems to be the release date for Bit.Trip: Core, the follow-up to the retro-rhythm-Pong-shooter, Bit.Trip: Beat. The numbers "7+6+9" correspond to a date: July 6, 2009, which just happens to be a Monday. We've gotten confirmation from Gaijin Games that this is indeed the meaning of the image.
"Absolutely," Gaijin's Chris Osborn told us. "And it will be the 100th WiiWare release!" Given that Nintendo saves its milestone Virtual Console releases for things like Zelda games, it seems like quite a distinction to be the hundredth game on WiiWare

The living Beatles, and the wives of the dead ones, are full "creative partners" in the development of the new Rock Band game, according to Harmonix.
Speaking to Crispy Gamer lead designer Chris Foster said, "The shareholders, as we call them - Paul and Ringo, Olivia and Yoko - were really creative partners throughout the project.
"They were involved in picking and approving the song list, the venues we went into. With the dreamscapes, they saw storyboards of all of the material, and gave feedback on whether or not they felt like those interpretations supported the songs in the way they wanted."
The fab two and the other two also cast their eyes over the character designs and animations. "With Rock Band, you've got these avatars that are, you know, anyone, so it's pretty easy for you to believe in them. But when you know who the Beatles are, and you know the joy in their faces when they play, you have to capture that on-screen; you have to be true to that, and they were really good about keeping the standard high."
That applied to the standard of playing, too: "I think Sir Paul McCartney heckled our project lead's bass-playing when he saw one of the game demos," said Foster.
"So yeah," yeah, yeah, yeah, "They were involved. I'm not going to put words in their mouth, but seeing all four of them at the Microsoft press event is about as validating as everything. They don't get together for almost anything... It has to be something important, something they believe in."
The Beatles: Rock Band is due for a release on PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii on 9th September. You can find out all the business via the gamepage.

Good news if you happen to be a member of that most elusive of fan clubs celebrating Nintendo's Zelda series mascot, Tingle. The character will be starring in not one, but two new games. In fact, for our friends over in Japan, one of the games is already out!
In case you haven't been keeping up with the latest on Tingle, Nintendo has been staging an uncharacteristic teaser ad campaign in Japan these past couple of weeks, hinting at what appeared to be a new game starring the character. Today, we learned that the new game is actually two titles, one for DS and one for DSi Ware.
The DSi Ware game, titled "Dekisugi Tingle Pack," is a collection of five "tools": a tarot card fortune teller that predicts your love and financial fortune, a timer featuring alerts from a robot Tingle, a calculator which can be used to split the bill unevenly (in case you want to play gentleman or boss), a music program where a marionette Tingle dances to music in front of your DSi pictures, and a coin game that's playable by up to 20. Priced at 500 DSi Points, Tingle Pack made a surprise appearance on the Japanese DSi Ware service today.
The other game is titled Color Changing Tingle's Balloon Trip of Love, and it looks like a far more substantial offering -- a proper sequel to Freshly-Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland (not released in America). Whereas the original was themed around money, this one is themed around girls.
The new adventure begins when 35-year-old Tingle sees a certain product in an infomercial. The identity of the product and the nature of Tingle's quest are currently unclear. Also unclear is a release date. Famitsu, which shared first info on the game in its latest issue lists the title's date as TBA.
We'll also note that the fate of these new Tingle games outside of Japan is also cloudy. Nintendo hasn't announced either for release outside its home territory, but we'll let you know if we hear anything.

Nintendo of America has released the official box art -- both front and back -- for the forthcoming Metroid Prime Trilogy compilation set. The package includes Metroid Prime, Metroid Prime 2: Echoes and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption for $49.99. Better yet, the first two games in the series have been enhanced with Wii remote controls and new 16:9 widescreen modes. All three games are available on a single disc, which means that this could be the greatest content ever put to a DVD in the history of mankind. We are fanboys and we don't care.
Not only is Trilogy packaged in a special metal tin, but it's also wrapped in a loving cover for protection. The collector's edition additionally comes with an art booklet.
The set ships on August 24, which should be a new national holiday.
