Nicholas Scheltema offers Factory bots "on Game Boy Advance and participates in the PDRoms Coding Competition v4.01. You control the movement of robots in a factory, and need them to take raw materials from a distributor, put them into a processor, then take the subject matter and put it in a collector, all have a number of movements restricted.
Quote:
The purpose of the game is to control the movement of robots on a factory floor, and get them to take raw material from a dispenser, put them in a processor, then take the processed material and drop it into a Collector.
This is accomplished by placing instructions on the factory floor grid, and when a robot passes over the instruction, it obeys it. Instructions including turning four different directions, and performing an action. The action that is performed is dependent on what is nearby, this will either be picking up a nearby object, dropping a carried object, or nothing, if nothing applies. It's also possible to introduce additional robots to a stage.
There are other obstacles that need to be overcome, such as reaching the different colored buttons that control the various machines and barriers, and reaching conveyor belts that may be needed to transport objects across a stage.
Each stage requires a sequence to be planned, and played out over and over again until at least 5 pieces of processed material are collected. Timing plays an especially important role in successfully getting the robots to perform the set sequence, so play often involves adjusting the location of instructions to alter it slightly.
The number of instructions available are limited per course. Solving each stage requires careful use of the available instructions perfectly to plan a successful sequence.

News/release from Pete_Lockwood
Tired of the horrendous poker games available for the DS (all flashy graphics and lousy functionality) I decided to write my own.
The whole driver behind wanting to play on the DS was to be able to play poker at lunchtime in an office environment, where cards and chips might be frowned upon
The game currently supports No-Limit Texas Hold-Em for up to 6 players in wireless multiplayer mode or a 6 player Hold-Em or Omaha Hi 'standalone' mode where you play all 6 hands (good for debugging and kinda interesting as a simulator).
The wireless doesn't use an Access Point - it uses the DS->DS hack I documented a while ago here.
It auto-saves after each hand so you can begin a tournament and come back later to finish it. It's pretty resilient to occasional networking glitches - if one of the DSes crashes , it can simply be rebooted and rejoin the game. Come to that 5 of the 6 could crash and they'd all be able to pick back up - not so with the existing networked poker games, where if one DS dies the tournament is dead. Another feature we didn't find elsewhere is the rabbit hunt so that's been added too
Source code lives here and a binary download is also available here. If you try to build from the source you'll need to update your DSWifi library as discussed in the DS->DS thread above.
It's not perfect, it's not a good example of proper programming practices, it'll crash occasionally (at a rate of once or twice per 5 hours played in our experience), but we've been playing with it for a few months and greatly prefer it over the commercial offerings. If nothing else, it's a simple example of a multiplayer game that actually works pretty well without using an AP.

The Financial Times have this week revealed that Nintendo rejected the camera-based technology for the Wii.
The Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has said that the company tried to develop games controlled by camera-based sensors but received better results using accelerometers eventually utilized in the Wii hardware.
As we saw at the E3 Conference earlier this week, Microsoft and Sony are both using camera technology to track gesture and movement-based controls in a three-dimensional space.
The Xbox 360's 'Project Natal' can perform full three-dimensional motion tracking and can scan items into the system. Whilst Sony's new motion controller is a lot like the Nintendo Wii's.

Harmonix and MTV Games today announced 25 tracks from artists coming this week to the Rock Band Music Store catalog of downloadable content for the Wii system, including the highly anticipated 12 tracks from Iron Maiden, one of the world's most successful rock bands.
As previously announced, the release of this week's downloadable Iron Maiden tracks coincides with the U.S. release of Flight 666 on Blu-ray and DVD as well as a double-CD soundtrack album and limited edition double-vinyl picture disc. Flight 666 documents the first leg of Maiden's legendary SOMEWHERE BACK IN TIME WORLD TOUR, which took them 50,000 miles around the planet, playing 23 concerts on five continents in just 45 days. One of the stars of the movie is the band's customized Boeing 757, Ed Force One, which carried the band, all their crew and 12 tons of stage equipment and was piloted by Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson, a fully qualified and active Airline Captain with Astraeus Airlines.

Hoping for a new Chrono Trigger game? Better start buying your grandmother and her dog a copy, too.
Speaking to RPGsite.com, Square Enix Senior Vice President Shinji Hashimoto says the franchise hasn't sold well enough to warrant development of a new title in the series. When told fans were clamoring for a new game, Hashimoto shrugged it off.
"That's not what the sales tell me!" Hashimoto said. "If people want a sequel, they should buy more!"
While sales of the Nintendo DS version of the Super Nintendo classic were somewhat sluggish, with worldwide sales reaching close to 800K last year, it doesn't help the game originally hit retail shelves at a ridiculous $39.99 price point in the North America.
If Square-Enix wants more sales, how about they stop overcharging fans for 14-year old ports?

Nintendo is remaking Pokemon Gold and Silver into Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver. We've known this much since last month.
But what no one knew about until now is the little special extra Nintendo is preparing for the title. In Japan, each copy of Heart Gold and Soul Silver will come bundled with a PokeWalker, a pedometer that looks like a Pokeball.
You can transfer a single Pokemon from Heart Gold and Soul Silver into this device, carrying your little friend with you when you go out. As you walk, the internal Pokemon gains experience and grows happier.
Additionally, the PokeWalker converts your steps into watts, a currency that can be used to catch wild Pokemon and shop for tools. These can then be sent back into Heart Gold and Soul Silver.
Nintendo hasn't shared pricing for Heart Gold and Soul Silver in Japan, so we're not sure if there will be an extra charge for the included hardware.
Currently, this bundle deal applies only to Japan, although we imagine Nintendo would keep such a deal intact when bringing Heart Gold and Soul Silver to the rest of the world.
In addition to this news, we've managed to get our hands on first official media for the remakes. Check out our media gallery for art of the game's selectable male and female characters; the first three Pokemon, Chikorita, Cyndaquil and Totodile; and two Legendary Pokemon, Ho-oh and Lugia. We also have a few screens from early in the game.
Heart Gold and Soul Silver hit Japan this Fall.

Nintendo's talkative global president Satoru Iwata turned a few heads when he told CNBC that the company had another handheld gaming system completed and ready for production sometime in the past three years, but that it ultimately decided not to release it. Though he didn't give any details on the handheld, he did say that, "in the history of Nintendo there are several such examples." We can only hope that some kind of wild, awesome Gameboy prototype hits our desk one day. Nintendo's most recent handheld, the DSi, has moved over a million units, including around 435,000 during its first week of sale in the U.S.

There's just something so defiant about this "Power Up" charging stand from Mad Catz -- it seems specifically designed to take up as much cubic footage as possible, and even the name is domineering. The stand is bizarrely formed in the likeness of a miniature Wii Balance Board, with a replacement battery pack included in the kit with contact charging points to take out all the exertion of flipping the B-Board and swapping out batteries. A foot pedal release mechanism pops the Balance Board out of the stand, and there are a couple of free-spirited USB ports on the thing for charging up whatever other awkwardly-shaped gadgetry you might have around the house.

Shigeru Miyamoto has responded to the announcements of Microsoft's Project Natal and Sony's motion controller by saying that new control schemes only work if you make compelling games with them.
"The interesting thing about [these announcements] is it takes a great deal of experience to be able to create full gameplay experiences that take advantage of motion control," he told the BBC.
"We've been experimenting with motion control for over five years now, and based on the announcements we've seen here at E3, it seems like the other two companies have really only been experimenting with this only very recently."
Miyamoto isn't worried, apparently, and believes that both announcements show that, "number one, they've looked at what we've done with Wii, and seen the value in that, and now they're moving in the same direction that we have already established."
Miyamoto's comments continue the fine E3 tradition of executives passively slagging off the competition. For example, Microsoft's John Schappert told Eurogamer last week that having to hold a controller is "a big barrier to being able to get people to enjoy interactive experiences".
Nintendo, however, can argue that Wii MotionPlus is out this Friday, with Wii Sports Resort following next month, which is rather more tangible than the tech demos shown off at E3 by its competitors.

Ninja Gaiden creator Tomonobu Itagaki has extended his blessing to the Team Ninja's recently-announced Metroid game, Other M.
The ex-Team Ninja head, now heading up a new studio founded by Tecmo refugees, 'Tokyo Vikings', is apparently a fan of the Nintendo series. It's a shame Itagaki didn't get to work on it himself, really.
"Metroid is a fantastic game that I played a lot on the Disk System when I was a child," he told 1UP. "I also know Mr. Sakamoto, the producer at Nintendo, very well. He fathered Samus Aran. He's been making games since I was a child, so he's a veteran I really respect.
"I think [Yosuke] Hayashi will learn a lot working with him. I hope Team Ninja works hard in making a good game," he said.
Metroid Other M, a collaboration between Nintendo's original Metroid team, Team Ninja and CGI house D-Rockets, was announced during Nintendo's pre-E3 conference last week.

Reggie Fils-Aime says his company is aiming for PS3 and Xbox 360 owners
After enjoying huge growth in the now blossoming casual market, Nintendo of America boss Reggie Fils-Aime has said that PS3 and Xbox 360 owning core gamers are the company’s next target for market growth.
“We have near-term, mid-term and long-term opportunities – the near-term opportunity is the consumer who owns an PS3 or an Xbox 360 and has been bad-mouthing Wii to their friends,” Fils-Aime told Cnet.
“The mid-term opportunity is the more mainstream consumer who saw Wii at a friend's house but just needs a little extra incentive to get into our game. That's what Wii Motion Plus and Wii Fit Plus and new Super Mario Bros Wii will hopefully achieve.
“We think we win over the Halo audience with something like The Conduit, a multi-player, online, shooting experience, or Dead Space Extraction. And you know what? Once those people buy into Wii, they'll go buy Mario Kart or Wii Fit Plus.”

Nintendo's Wiimote (and the Nunchuk, by extension) have certainly been wired up to control their fair share of oddities, but we honestly can't think of a more suitable use for a spare 'chuk than this right here. The so-called Beancat is nothing more than a motorized beanbag chair that takes direction from a wired Nunchuk, and while we can't exactly speak from experience, it certainly looks thrilling from afar. Have a glance yourself just past the break, and tap the read link if you're eager to see how it all came together.

Stratton has released a new version of his SUper Smash Bros Clone for the DS:
I can almost hear everyone say, 'Ugh! Not another one!', but I think I've made pretty good progress so far.
SSB Fusion is going to be my side-project to Parallel Worlds. In fact, they both use the same engine, so you'll notice a few similarities . It is, essentially, another one of those Super Smash Bros. clones. It actually all started as a small joke on SSB Rumble, where I made a 'mock-up' and released it to their community. I then decided to continue it, against all odds.
Anyhow, it's time for the demo. Here's a changelog, if you want to know exactly what I've done since I first started:
Code:
Test 3 [June 4th]
-FAT bugs fixed: it should now work on most, if not all, available cards (including the R4)
-Music added: they are modules, so the file is still relatively small, thankfully
-Link added
-Pictochat added
-Hyrule Temple added
-Basic character chooser created; you can now choose between Mario, Mewtwo, and Link
-Stage selector added
-AI are now 'smarter'... they follow the closest character
-More miscellaneous improvements
Test 2 [June 2nd]
-FAT version added
-Basic AI implemented
-Miscellaneous game improvements/optimisations
Test 1 [May 31st]
-Initial release, nothing much here, just you and... you

GemVenture (Beta) by Tom Livak is a game entered in the recently held PDRoms Coding Competition v4.01 ( http://pdroms.de/phpbb/viewforum.php?f=105 )
GemVenture is puzzle game where you fight against a series of monsters. If you've played PuzzleQuest, you'll feel right at home. You attempt to match colored gems in the playfield, which will give you mana to cast spells, and can heal yourself or hurt your opponent. Your opponent then take a turn matching gems, and you continue back and forth until only one is left standing. GemVenture features 6 character classes, 18 different spells, and 20 monsters, each with their own special characteristics!
You'll first pick one of the six character classes, which determines which spells you can cast. Then you'll face your first opponent. Use the direction pad and the A button to select two adjacent gems. The gems will switch places, and any group of 3 more gems will break. Each gem you break will give you one mana of that color. Gems shaped like a heart will heal you, and those with spikes will hurt your opponent. Pressing select will switch you over the spell menu at the bottom of the screen, which you cast when you have enough mana. Each monster has it's own special powers which use their mana.
If you run out of life points, your game is over. If you defeat your opponent, you'll get to chose one stat to increase before taking on your next opponent.
