Arcade Jigsaw is a Wii homebrew jigsaw game for up to 4 players with a little twist. You only get to see a few pieces at a time and if you happen to place a piece wrong it goes to the back of the queue. If you want to use your own images all you have to do is to have a JPG/PNG file with the resolution 480x440 or lower.
Changelog:
Version 0.3 adds support for JPEG images and makes the piece queue animate smoothly when pieces are removed.

All XM features are finally completely supported (and a couple of bugs corrected too!)

Documentation, complete changelog, a dedicated new support forum, examples, demos, etc... look here -> http://wcms.teleion.it/users/cgq/nds/libxm7/

It still includes the sample optimizer, it still doesn't have a GUI, this time with battery saving features (turns off screens & backlight when playing, just touch the screen to turn it on again). It plays XMs and most common format MODs with up to 16 channels directly from your FAT memory card.

Sigmar performs "Deflektor DS", a remake of the game of the same name released in 1987 on Amiga.
The aim of this game is to get the laser on the receiver. To do this we must properly orient the mirrors in order to destroy all targets (blue beads), the receiver becomes green.
Once the receiver has become the green must be achieved with the laser to move to the next level. Do not return the laser on the issuer or touching mine as you may destroy (overheating is indicated by the bar "overload").

Over the past few weeks, there have been various issues with the DSLinux wiki and forums. I’ve done my best to get the forum back up and going, but the wiki seems like it will cause much more trouble for me. If I can get enough donations, I am planning on rewriting the site to work more seamlessly, and also upgrade all of the various functions of the site. Please support me by donating to this cause!

Pop ‘n Music’s box art tells a lot. See the red Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection logo? Konami plans to sell downloadable songs for Pop ‘n Music.
The Japanese version comes with over forty songs including Kiseki, Dancing Pompokolin, Linda Linda, Touch, Butterfly (from Smile.dk?), and Rhapsody in Blue. Don’t expect the same song list in North America. I bet Konami will follow the same strategy in Japan and pick pop songs for Pop ‘n Music plus Rhapsody in Blue.
This version of Pop ‘n Music won’t support the arcade controller or even use buttons. Players shake the remote and move the nunchuck to hit beats. Up to four players can join the Pop ‘n Music party while Miis dance in the background.
Pop ‘n fans can import the game from Japan on August 6. The localized version comes out in North America this fall.

There were two big surprises to be found with Mario Galaxy: firstly, that it had a substantive story, and secondly, that the story was good. Pity, then, the sequel won't be doing anything of the sort.
Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto has said that, despite the love fans had for the first game's plot (centred around Rosalina and the adorable Lumas), "I'd like to go with as little story as possible...I've always felt that the Mario games themselves aren't particularly suited to having a very heavy story."
All well and good, except Miyamoto doesn't have as direct a role in the series as he once did. Instead, the job of creating these big Mario games now lies with Yoshiaki Koizumi, who is at odds with his mentor's stance on plot.
"Mr. Koizumi is the type of person who, whenever we're working on a new Mario game, he always wants to bring more story elements into it, as he did with Super Mario Galaxy" Miyamoto says. "But in talking with him this time, he agrees and feels that with Galaxy 2, there won't be a need for as deep of a story".
Shame!

This week in the Nintendo Download we have three catchy new WiiWare titles, one welcome to the Fantasy Zone, and another clock/calculator combo for the DSi.
It's a triple dose of WiiWare this week, and at least two of them seem pretty interesting. You can't help but be curious about a game called Eduardo the Samurai Toaster (800 Wii points), Semnat Studios' co-operative multiplayer food shooter, and Taito's Rainbow Islands: Towering Adventure (800 points) features rainbow-spewing children, which is always a plus. The only questionable title of the three is Sega's Let's Catch (1,000 points), which presents variations on the game of catch, with special features unlocked when you own both this game and Let's Tap.
The Virtual Console adds another arcade title to its lineup today with Space Harrier (800 points), the original arcade version of Sega's classic 3-D scrolling shooter, which I've played so many times at this point I can simply close my eyes and recreate it in my head.
Finally we have DSiWare. Sad, sad, DSiWare. Remember the Animal Crossing clock and calculator they released for 200 DSi points apiece? Well now they've got Mario versions. We need to come up with some sort of term for weeks like these, when the DSi only gets utilities. How about clock-blocked?
As always, check out the official descriptions below for a more marketing-friendly view of this week's offerings.

The choice is up to you.
RAINBOW ISLANDS™: TOWERING ADVENTURE!
Publisher: TAITO

Bosses controlled by the scientific genius Dr. Crescent await players at the end of every area. Race through every area within the allotted time to meet the rainbow-colored Holly's Comet. There are three game modes: Story mode, which tells the tale of Holly's Comet; Challenge mode, where players attempt to climb as high as they can; and Time Attack, where players select an area and see how fast they can climb it. Even as the words are being spoken, your Harrier warrior is already charging into battle. Toting a huge laser gun under his arm, the Space Harrier can either run along the checkerboard ground or freely fly through the sky. Either way, he's always heading forward into the hostile 3-D world. As you progress, hordes of strange creatures and robots fly toward you. Fast reflexes are required to dodge their incoming fire. Environmental hazards can be a problem, too. Take care not to run into any trees or stone structures. If you need a bit of a morale boost, just defeat a boss, and the narrator will remind you that "you're doing great!"

Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto has confirmed that it will introduce a new, patented help system into future titles, starting with this holiday's New Super Mario Bros. Wii.
Speaking to USA Today, Miyamoto explained that the "demo play" technology Nintendo patented earlier this year will be introduced in the four-player Super Mario title revealed during E3 earlier this month.
"In New Super Mario Bros Wii, if a player is experiencing an area of difficulty, this will allow them to clear troubled areas and take over when they're ready," said Miyamoto. "And yes, we're looking into this for future games, too."
The patent in question, "Method and apparatus for fraud reduction and product recovery", outlined a system for helping players through difficult gameplay scenarios by allowing them to have the game automatically play through them.
The patent's illustrations show a close resemblance to Miyamoto's The Legend of Zelda series, leading some to speculate that it would be applied to the next entry in the franchise. In a private press event during this month's E3 expo, Miyamoto confirmed that a new Zelda title is currently being developed, though he made no mention of whether the game would use the tentatively-named "demo play" feature.

The next entry in Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda franchise for the Wii may require the use of the company's MotionPlus controller add-on.
Speaking to Wired, Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto confirmed that the game - which was previously confirmed as utilising the tech - may actually require it.
"The goal at this point is that we would make Wii MotionPlus required in order to play Zelda," said Miyamoto.
"The bigger hurdle for us is not really whether people have a Wii MotionPlus or don't have it, it's whether or not the experience is one where people will think they want to have a Wii MotionPlus in order to experience it," he continued.
The statement somewhat contradicts an earlier quote, where Miyamoto said that "The potential for it becoming MotionPlus-only depends of course on how well Wii Sports Resort sells."
Nintendo's MotionPlus peripheral for the Wii, which gives the Wii Remote heightened gyroscopic controls that simulate movement in a 3D space, was announced prior to E3 2008 and was released to US retail earlier this month. In addition to first-party titles that include July's Wii Sports Resort, a number of third parties are developing games that utilize the tech, with Electronic Arts in particular committed to seven sports titles.

Nintendo’s longstanding, award-winning, seminal franchise-creating maestro takes top spot
Over 9,000 game developers from across the globe have declared Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto as their game developer hero.
The international survey, commissioned by the Develop Conference, saw the Mario and Zelda creator take nearly 30 per cent of the total vote, at around 3,000 developer votes.
“It’s no surprise that Miyamoto-san is the development hero of developers – over the last thirty years he has created games that have not only driven the evolution of the games industry but also changed people’s lives,” said Andy Lane, managing director of Tandem Events, organiser of the Develop Conference in Brighton.

DCEmu Member dantheman released this over at gbadev, heres the full release notes from the man himself:
In my CS class at my university last semester, we learned C by programming for the GBA. For one of my projects, I took the sourcecode from a GBA WinS demo and greatly expanded upon it, firstly to make it much faster, and secondly to add user input so that different visual effects could be generated. I turned it in long ago, but continued to work on it for further improvements. I eventually installed DevKitPRO and ported it to the DS for speed purposes, then made a version that could rotate around the center of the screen with the DS's additional horsepower. Finally, I made a small branch-off program that creates a starfield on the DS screen, with variable speeds.
Constructive criticism is greatly appreciated. I know it's not a cool game or anything, but it did take a lot of work to make and I think it's a fairly interesting visual effect at the very least. Would people be interested in the sourcecode at all? I'm more than willing to release it, though it would take me a bit to clean it up for ease of understanding.

Just about given up hope on a Street Fighter IV Wii version? You shouldn't.
During a forum Q&A, a question was asked if Wii owners will never see a Street Fighter IV release.
Capcom V.P. Christian Svensson simply replied: "Never is such a long time. Beyond that, I have nothing to add right now."
Thankfully, Senior Community Manager Seth Killian chimed in with his own answer and revealed a few more details.
"While not every aspect of Street Fighter IV's presentation would likely be possible on the Wii, the core elements are obviously possible," he wrote.
"As for 'never happen,' I'd hope that if Tatsunoko vs. Capcom has taught us anything, it's that we should never say never when it comes to Capcom."
Hardly a confirmation, but Capcom loves porting games around years later after their initial release. Would anyone be surprised if a Wii version was released a year later? Probably not.

In just a few weeks Square Enix will release Dragon Quest Wars on DSiWare. Fire Emblem developers Intelligent Systems created Dragon Quest Wars as a simplified strategy RPG with colorful slimes.
When you enter a four on four battle enemy teams are color coded red, green, and yellow. The screenshots show a bunch of slimes, but not much monster variation. Where are the hulu dancers, robot hunters, and shield throwing Hippoblockomi?
I guess I can’t ask for too much since Dragon Quest Wars is a 500 DSiWare ($5) game. Perhaps, Square Enix could have saved money if they reused sprites from their Super Nintendo games instead of making 3D models. Classic sprites would have looked just as good, if not better.

After being potentially canceled as of a few months ago, Gauntlet DS has re-emerged from purgatory with a new publisher in Majesco. At very least, that's our best guess based on an ESRB rating for the game found by a Gauntlet-lovin' GoNintendo reader.
Once announced as being developed by Backbone Entertainment and published by now Square Enix-owned Eidos, the title was delisted from GameStop's website as well as Amazon back in February. Does this mean we'll finally be able to try our very best not to shoot food on the DS in the near future? One can only dream.

While details on the next Legend of Zelda game are almost entirely non-existent, courtesy of Nintendo's non-announcement during E3, that doesn't mean we know nothing about the direction series creator Shigeru Miyamoto will be taking the series.
We know one thing: that you might need to fork out an extra $20 for it. Speaking with Wired, Miyamoto says that "The goal at this point is that we would make Wii MotionPlus required in order to play Zelda".
"The bigger hurdle for us is not really whether people have a Wii MotionPlus or don't have it, it's whether or not the experience is one where people will think they want to have a Wii Motion Plus in order to experience it".
So it won't just make use of MotionPlus, it may actually require the user to have it? Bring it on. At the very least, it'd result in an entirely new combat mechanic for the series.
