Shovelware has graduated to the next level: irony. Turns out Mastiff plans to debut its coveted Major League Eating license on WiiWare, when the service launches May 12. Players will literally simulate the shoveling of food into their mouths using Nintendo's patented Waggletech®. You thought busted TVs were bad? Wait till someone swallows a Wiimote.
Major League Eating: The Game features two-player offline play, plus an online mode and leaderboards. Players will be taught to use various techniques -- like the cram, toss and typewriter -- while engaging opponents with an arsenal of 'gurgitatory' weaponry, including bites, burps, belches, mustard gas and jalapeño flames. Burp-offs and hot potato challenges are also con-firmed. This can't be ... Oh yes, it's real.

It looks like Wii users wanting to expand their Guitar Hero arsenal (or replace an axe after they got a little too into things) won't have to wait much longer, as Red Octane is now set to let loose a separate wireless Les Paul controller for the system. It doesn't exactly come cheap, however, with the company listing the controller at $70 on its own website, although Toys R Us is now taking pre-orders for $60 (Best Buy and others don't seem to be offering it just yet). What's more, while Red Octane only goes so far as say "ETA: March 2008," Toys R Us is giving a ship date of March 4th, so it looks like this one should be landing in your capable hands in no time.

Sony, we know you're trying hard, which is why we think it must sting all the worse when you wake up to sales figures like this. According to a report, the Wii outsold PS3s in Japan 4-to-1 in the month of February, and its games dominated bestseller lists. What does that look like in cold, hard numbers? Nintendo moved 331,627 consoles over the month, while Sony only managed 89,131 units in the same time. But wait, there's more: in January, the ratio was 3-to-1, which means that Nintendo's lead seems to be growing as the year moves forward. Still, Sony could have it worse, the Xbox 360 only scraped up a paltry 14,079 Xbox 360 sales in that same span of time.

Today's Virtual Console update brings one of the best action games released on the SNES to Wii - Super Turrican.
The Turrican series originally started out on Commodore 64, but was gradually ported over to almost every platform as the franchise grew.
If you take a look at the game by following this handy YouTube link, you'll see it's a brilliant mix of ridiculously over-the-top firepower, Metroid-style exploration and a killer soundtrack.
It's 800 Wii Points, and for once we think that's a worthwhile purchase.
Also released is something called Psychosis from the Turbografx, which we've only heard of because we already researched it for this week's US Virtual Console releases. It's 600 Wii Points, if you're interested.

SEGA has confirmed that SEGA Superstars Tennis will arrive a week earlier than expected on 20th March.
Its unpredictable surge to the retail net leaves us flat-footed but happy because we quite liked what we saw of it in January.
Superstars Tennis has all the familiar characters in it from the SEGA catalogue, then, like Sonic, and, er, the others.
You get to smash balls at your opponents on themed courts, embark on mini-games, and generally do all sorts of things Virtua Tennis has done so well for the publisher for years and years.

Satan2k has answered my dreams and released an alpha version of DSCnc - Command and Conquer DS, the DS is made for RTS gaming
Digg This News
Heres the French to English Translation
Presentation:
Voila, following the death of a starlite, and having no other RTS on DS, I decided to start a command & conquer on DS. Some questions come to mind already, I am on and I will respond in advance to those.
First, the copyright, command & conquer Tiberian Dawn (thus the first) was libèré in June 2007. So I (we) do not face prosecution and we will not be in the illegalité.
Secondo, one such project was started in 2005 was stopped in 2006-2007, did not give further till today. So I will try myself to start something. I have the game, all the tools for ripping sprites, the methodology for resuming under DS, so I will not try?
Regarding develloppement he uses palib, but with the 3D processor, and therefore more performance and possibilities (eg casssant virtually the limit of sprites). (Libnds me asked many questions problem memory management)
I do not know at all or this project will lead me, I do not know at all whether it will bear fruit or be killed in the bud like many homebrew. But I will still try to do something nice in the long run.
If ever there were brave people who want to follow me, the door is completely open, but the releases it is not right away. A game such requires much work and a lot of nerves.
Otherwise, I know that you do pertinement me to know not here, so I will not unduly try to convince you, but here, you may wish good luck ;-)
Fotograf*as:
No image at the moment, but it could happen, and I am working on the engine
History:
-- 20082402 beginning of the project, ripping process defined test via animation
OpenGL
-- 20082502 working with libnds, test passages in memory, cleaning
-- 20082602 too much problem with libnds, reecriture project with palib
-- 20082702 beginning Writing of structure and purpose, study the system and on the A * algorithm
-- 20082802 after writing object, manufacturer, and various animations, demonstration (proof of concept) available (construction of a building pen)
How to play:
It is an RTS, which will be played exclusively stylus. The factions GDI and NOD argue to raise the tiberium, became the first mineral wealth of the earth. Thursday appeared in 1995, created by westwood Studios, and libèré by EA games during a 12-year series

The downloadable media service for the DS, originally set to be released in Japan this March, will be pushed back by a month into April. AM3, the company that will be providing the service dubbed DSVision, says that they've run into some challenges with the system's hardware, namely the adapter designed to accommodate a special min SD card in the DS card slot.
Content providers want to see more save functionality with the adapter, according to AM3, which has lead to the delay while AM3 adds features. When the service eventually does become available, it'll provide content like videos and music, although no specific details yet on what that will entail.

According to the latest stats from magazine publisher Enterbrain, Nintendo's Wii outsold Sony's PlayStation 3 in Japan by almost 4-to-1.
By February 24, 331,627 Wii units had been sold in the region, compared to 89,131 PlayStation 3's, reports Reuters.
Nintendo's home console has been outselling Sony's machine almost continuously since both became available on the market.
Although Sony's sales are improving – and by no means as poor as Microsoft's Xbox 360 in the region – the Wii continues to prove itself the dominant console.
Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. Brawl became the fastest-selling Wii game to reach one million units in February, doing so in just 11 days, and the game has now sold a total of 1.33 million.
Wii Fit continues to enjoy impressive sales, notching up a further 309,311 units in the first four weeks of the month.

Hitachi and Sharp have both confirmed they have come under investigation by Japan's antitrust regulator on suspicion of fixing prices for LCD screens used in Nintendo's DS console.
According to a Bloomberg report, offices and business premises for both companies have been searched by Japan's Fair Trade Commission.
Any manufacturer found guilty of price-fixing can be fined up to 10 per cent of gains, according to Japanese law.
Sharp confirmed to GamesIndustry.biz this morning that it is "lending full support to this investigation."
Bloomberg notes that shares in Sharp fell 3.1 per cent to JPY 1976 on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, while Hitachi declined 2.3 per cent to JPY 779.
GamesIndustry.biz has contact Nintendo and Hitachi for further comment.

Nuke posted new software for the USB Gecko:
USB Gecko 0.5 (GC / GC Wii Mode)
Added:
1.Accurip(tm) added to the ripper, it is now nearly 2 times faster than before to extract any media. Also all packets are now checksummed for error and if one byte is missing it will resend that packet until its correct. This gives a 100% error free and faster rip than before.
2. Gameshark Save support added to Save upload, use drop down to select.
3. Memory Card functions now work with all card types, even ones require unlocking.
4. MP3 improved, also no longer crashes on the PC side.
5. Game Launcher now mounts all media types.
6. Bug was fixed so allows you to rip more than one DVD at a time.
7. Full vista support (was tested on all versions).
Apart from the above, it has gone through a big recode on the firmware side as i updated the code to work with new version of GCC compiler so the code output is much nicer.
Please note this is tested on all Windows platforms before uploading, it will not however work on Windows 98.
Lots of Wii stuff is already now for the adapter, a Wii version will be distributed in the form of an ELF for Wii users in the coming week. Very Exciting stuff being added for this!.
I have noted all requests from email and the forums and will now be quickly added now I have alot of time consuming things out of the way.

Yesterday, Sega upset us by releasing this amateurish trailer for Bass Fishing. Now though, it's back at the top of our best friends on Facebook after adding a mode to House of the Dead 2&3 The Return that includes new gameplay options.
The new Extreme Mode can be unlocked for House of the Dead 3 after completing both of the titles. It quickens enemy attacks, shrinks bullet blast radius, quickens shotgun reloading and adds a melee attack.
Should zombies get in your face on the upcoming Wii game, you can trigger a powerful move that can hit several enemies. The attack can also be used to block enemy moves, missile weapons and even boss attacks.
Previously, it seemed as though the upcoming Wii port of the Dreamcast games was a direct copy of its predecessor.

No no no, Nintendo, you've got this around the wrong way. I don't want to buy Wii Wheels separately. I want to be able to buy the game separately, so I can use the GameCube controls and forget the wheel ever existed. Ah well. For anyone who simply must have two or more Wii Wheels, however (I don't know...maybe your dog needs a new chew-toy), know that Nintendo will be selling them in Japan for ¥1200 (USD$11), and will probably be selling them everywhere else as well.

Mario Kart Wii is the first home instalment of the much-loved (and swear-inducing) racer to feature online play. We know Nintendo isn't big on the net, but we're at least going to get lobbies with basic text chat, right? That's a basic 1996-era feature, isn't it?
Nintendo of Europe originally told IGN: "You can create rooms for friends to join and even text chat while you're waiting for other racers." Good news then. Except they were telling porkies...
Nintendo's American operation quickly contacted the publication to explain that while there will be "text chat" in Mario Kart Wii's online mode, it'll be in the form of pre-determined phrases that can be sent as messages before the match (such as "let's race!" or "No Wario Stadium shortcut!" we presume).
There'll be no proper communication between friends in Mario Kart Wii, then. Thank you Nintendo for once again protecting us from the evils of the internet.
At least the pre-determined text will probably allow us to play with foreign racers, auto translated and all that.
