via Computer and Video Games
This weeks' new releases on the US Virtual Console come in the form of Harvest Moon SNES and the TurboGrafx-16 title, Lords of Thunder, available from 9am PST.
Harvest Moon is the first title in the now legendary series that has pervaded all Nintendo consoles multiple times over.
In Harvest Moon you've recently bought the farm, but unfortunately for you it's not a euphemism for death and you now have to get to work on making your patch of land somehow profitable.
You juggle your time between feeding animals, watering vegetables and wooing women, creating a stress-inducing schedule that would sap the soul of most. All this and more could be yours for 800 Wii points.
Comparatively, Lords of Thunder looks like stress-free joy and is complimented by the sort of music Bill and Ted would have created to usher in world-peace.
It's a shoot-em-up too, a genre far too under appreciated these days. It's also only 800 Wii Points too and we've found a clip on YouTube just for you.

According to The Age, one of the World War II shooter’s core features, its 32 player online mode, was inexplicably stripped from the Australian version of the game despite being heavily touted in the title’s marketing material. The online mode does feature in the US and European versions of the game
"Medal of Honor Heroes 2 for Wii does not support online functionality in Australia,” read a statement from EA.
“We made an error in the documentation and marketing materials. We are very sorry to have caused confusion for our customers. We will provide a refund to anyone in Australia who wishes to return the game to EA because of the lack of online functionality."
An EA rep went on to say that gamers wishing to get their money back should return the game and their receipt to the retailer they bought it from.

via Eurogamer
Capcom strategy bigwig Christian Svensson has said Okami Wii is playable all the way through and could come out as soon as March in the US.
However, speaking on the official publisher forums he revealed there would be "a little lag" between the American and European releases, because Nintendo production times take a little longer here.
"We haven't given an official date - we've only ever said 'spring'. But March 25th is a possible date for the US on the current schedule," said Svensson.
"That said, it's a huge game with a lot to test, and while [Ready At Dawn] has been kicking *** on it, I don't want people freaking out if it's not exactly on that date. It's completely playable all the way through now on Wii, optimisation and bug fixing is where it's at in the process right now."
Importantly, Svensson went on to talk about the new paintbrush motion-sensing controls, singing its implementation praises for speeding up gameplay and lending the title an action-feel.
"It takes about 10 minutes to get used to using the Wii drawing, but once you do, it's effortless and as fast as the PS2 version," he said. "The act of physically drawing also has an amazing feel to it and really changes the pace of the game, just as we'd hoped it would.
"It's really quite amazing and gives the combat and puzzle segments much more of an action feel than existed on PS2. That and the game is even more beautiful than it was on the PS2."
Svensson also confirmed you will now be able to skip cut-scenes, but mentioned little else the Wii version would have that the PS2 original didn't; no major new content for starters, as "40-60 hours of content is plenty for anyone".
However, "there will be a couple of reasons" to splash out, apparently, and we are promised more on this very soon, as well as finding once and for all if it will have16:9 support.
Late last month a man on the inside told us Okami would be out on Wii this summer, after retailers had supplied the initial 25th March US forecast.
We shall see.

I've updated my Flash Advance Pro writing software for the Nintendo DS to version 1.5: The SPEED version.
While tinkering with the AceKard R.P.G. and adding native FAS1 abilities within the AceKard GUI, I stumbled upon an odd reason for flashing speeds on a Flash Advance cartridge to be capped at the speed they were: GUI updates.
It's odd, I know, but simply removing the constant updates to the progress of flashing has resulted in FAS1 routines now programming a Flash Advance Pro cartridge at 9.5 seconds per meg! That's a lot better than the original 18 seconds, no?
This is also pretty much equal to the EZ Flash 3in1's NOR writing speed (9s/meg), so it's win-win all around!
I also threw in GBAFrame support, because why not?
Downloads are available at http://fas1.googlecode.com, and the source has been updated in the SVN.

I said I'd never actually work on this game, but here I am releasing it!
So here it is, Quake II for Nintendo DS: http://quake.drunkencoders.com
To play the game you require a homebrew-enabled DS, and some kind of way of playing homebrew on your DS.
You also require a slot-2 card that has a minimum of 16 megabytes of RAM on it. When playing, you do not however need to place the data files and the program on your slot-2 card - if you also have a slot-1 card then you will have better load times if you play the game with both cards in use. You will still need to the slot-2 card inserted to make use of the RAM, though.
To install:
- make a directory named baseq2 in the root of your card
- copy the pak files from the baseq2 directory of your CD or Q2 install into this baseq2 directory
- download the config file from the web site and place it in the directory
- from the game archive file take the quake2.nds file, dldi patch it and place it in the root of your flash card
- plug in your slot-2 RAM card into your DS
- turn on your DS.
To reiterate - you'll get better performance if the game and it's data files are on something like and R4 in slot-1 than if you put your data files on your slot-2 RAM card. Unless your slot-1 card is a GnM...
Overclocking memory:
The performance of the game heavily depends on the speed of your RAM. Slot-2 RAM is very slow, but you can overclock it to make it up to 40% faster if you have the right type of flash card. When the game starts, try changing the speed option from slowest to slower or slow and see if the game starts ok. If it does then you're in luck :-)
Don't forget to try memtestARM to see more reliably if you card can be overclocked.
Lurchy gameplay:
If you experience delays when the game plays a sound for the first time, you should reformat your flash card with the largest block size that you can; I recommend 64k. This is because seeking within 250 megs of pak files is much faster when the block size is larger. Doing this will also improve your load times. Do it!
About the game:
- every level is playable in single-player mode
- there is no multiplayer
- nearly all graphical effects are done by the DS hardware
- there's auto and manual saving
- there's no mod or TC support (not my fault, I'm afraid)
- there's an on-screen keyboard as well as eight touch buttons (so you can bind functions to them)
The bad stuff:
- again, no multiplayer
- some levels are poorly coded and the performance will hit the floor (in particular security.bsp)
- GUI Z sorting is broken
- no sprite rendering
- some textures are misaligned
- cinematic rendering is disabled
- bits of the world will often pop in/out cos the DS GPU is SO overworked by this game! Some boss models have more polys than the DS can render in a frame...
Reasons I'm releasing this early is cos a) I'm too busy to work on this properly b) my computers all have faulty PSUs! c) most of my flash card readers have disintegrated!
Finally, if you enjoy the game and want the bugs sorted please drop some pennies on THIS LINK
Thanks for playing
Simon

News/release from Chris28:
Hi everyone,
Electro is the adaptation of a game PCdisk which my father played for hours. I started there at least three months but I have lost a little motivation to improve and correct the many bugs (I did not touch it for a month)?
Only the basic game echoing the original rule works except black cubes that do not fall, a problem when the cube is wild and ends several lines and the problem when there are too many cubes on the screen at difficult (il faut I spend 3D Sprite).
The rule is simple: it is necessary to form a line with cubes of the same color (the right edge had left edge). It is possible to double the points when it makes several lines in a row.
I had planned to add other games on the same principle (for example, with horizontal cubes as in Planet Puzzle League), but I do not know if I will get there. The game only becomes really interesting that the management of scores (if possible with dispatch by WiFi).
