Firebrand Games, hot off its impressive and deep Race Driver: Create and Race for the Nintendo DS, is now working with Codemasters on the follow-up to last year's game: GRID.
GRID focuses on street racing, and the Nintendo DS version will enable players to zoom through popular locations such as Spa and the Nurburgring in Europe, as well as locations that cut through San Francisco, Washington D.C., and Japan.
The game will feature an evolution of the track creator that premiered in Race Driver: Create and Race, with the added ability to create your own textures for trackside billboards. The creator will feature more than sixty different track parts which opens up the ability to get incredibly detailed in track creation.
It will also feature the same deep multiplayer focus as Race Driver: Create and Race, both local and online over the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service. Players will be able to post their created tracks for other racers to download to their cartridge.
GRID for the Nintendo DS is set to be completed in the same window as the console versions, this summer.

It was inevitable really, but in a recent interview discussing Wii Fit, Shigeru Miyamoto has hinted that the future of Wii Sports has at least already been decided upon by Nintendo.
Speaking about jogging in Wii Fit, Miyamoto said: "As we didn't know if there was going to be a Wii Sports 2 at the time or not, I gave the director a call and said to him, 'This idea's really good, and since there's no official word on Wii Sports 2, could we have it for Wii Fit?'"
There's no official word on Wii Sports 2, but considering this comment was sparked from a question about jogging, it's a fair bet we're going to see an all-new roster of sports instead of merely updates to the original.
Also within the interview, Miyamoto discussed the possibility of a 1080 Snowboarding title using the Wii Balance board, and company president Satoru Iwata said he hoped simpler software that uses the board will come via WiiWare.

Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. Brawl has sold one million units in Japan in just 11 days.
The game becomes the fastest-selling Wii game to reach the milestone, reports Reuters, beating Wii Fit which achieved one million sales in seven weeks, and Wii Sports which took 11 weeks.
The game is released in the US on March 9, but European consumers are still waiting for Nintendo to solidify a date across the regions.

Brakken over at tehskeen posted more details about the Twilight Hack released yesterday:
Team Twiizers has released the Twilight Hack for the Nintendo Wii. This exploit allows you to run custom code in Nintendo Wii mode. This exploit comes in the form of a signed Save Game for Zelda - The Twilight Princess. All you need to do to load it is copy over the Save Game to your SD Card, replace your old Zelda Save Data (if any) with the new one, run the game and then load the save.
Once loaded go talk to the closest person or just walk backwards next to you and the Beta Loader will appear with a nice penguin logo. It also detects if there is an SD Gecko or USB Gecko connected. So - that's all it does for now, but expect another release soon that will allow you to boot up your own code.
This exploit was based on the earlier non-released Zelda Exploit that would simply crash your Nintendo Wii. I took the time to talk with Segher one of the authors of the exploit for a more detailed look into the creation and release.
It of course involves a lot of technical details and some private information. If you're interested in the "public" technical information you should visit Wiibrew.org for more information.
It all started when the keys to decrypt and encrypt save game data for the Nintendo Wii were found. Once found this let the authors (Segher, Bushing and Tmbinc) mess around with the save game data. This lead to a bug found in Zelda - The Twilight Princess which would "crash" the game.
Once in it's "crashed" state they were able to run just a few bytes of code (which is covered in this news post). After this they were able to bump up the amount of a code they could run - enough to create a preliminary "demo" of sorts which is this exploit.
Due to the fact they know how to encrypt the save data and sign it this allows any Nintendo Wii user the ability to load the exploit and does not require the use a modchip.
The exploit, like mentioned above, can detect the presence of a SD Gecko or USB Gecko. If you have your USB Gecko attached it will also send some text to it, but that's about it.
Segher told me that they are working on a new version and some of the features that are up in the air are loading your own code from the SD Gecko and USB gecko, but the main way for loading your own code that they are working on is going to be either over USB and Wifi or simply from the built in SD Card slot in the Nintendo Wii.
This is a great moment in time for the Nintendo Wii homebrew scene. Soon we'll be able to launch our own homebrew thanks to Segher, Bushing and Tmbinc.

Nintendo's idea of implementing support for NES, SNES and N64 games in their new console, the Wii, is in my opinion one of their greatest ideas. As soon as I learned that it would be possible to use Gamecube controllers to play those games, I started thinking about designing an Snes/Nes controllers to Gamecube adapter which would be compatible with the Wii.
As soon as I got access to a Wii (I still dont have mine), I started testing my code which I had prepared in advance. I started by doing the NES and SNES adapter. Later, since a friend kept insisting that I should also design a N64 to Gamecube/Wii adapter, I implemented such an adapter.
Because of the complexity of the Gamecube's controller protocol, it's not possible to build a simple conversion circuit without using programmable components. For this project, I used an atmel Atmega8 microcontroller. Maybe it's a little overkill, but using this chip allowed me to use my Multiuse tiny 1 PCB. Given the small size of this circuit, it's possible to fit it inside an original controller.

We've just opened the doors to http://dsvideo.recoil.org/ which contains binaries and source for our Wavelet video codec.
The player includes a short sample video for testing, and we've provided command-line encoders for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. It uses FFmpeg, so should be able to convert any kind of videos you want.

Ok,
here comes a smal game called: CrystalChase. Goal is to clear the crystals on the game field.
Sound was ripped from some game, but I do not remeber the name ;-)
If you want to run the Game on real Hardware, then you need to patch the ile "Crystal_Chase.nds" (=Clear Rom) with a header, supported by your hardware.
For Hardware with autopatch (e.g. M3 Real), you just need to drop the file to your memory card.
