Word of WiiFit Plus already leaked out a little while back. But a sequel to the multi-million-selling fitness software isn't all Nintendo has in the works.
The online version of Japan's Nihon Keizai Shimbun newspaper reports today that Nintendo will release both the new version of Wii Fit along with a new Wii Mario game to Japan later this year.
For Wii Fit, the article says to expect internet connectivity, allowing for users to compete with friends and families in weight loss races. The new version will be able to more accurately measure weight and center of gravity.
The story does not mention if a new version of the Balance Wii Board will be required for this greater accuracy or if Nintendo has managed to attain the greater precision strictly at a software level.
For Mario, the article says absolutely nothing -- just that it's a new entry in the popular series. It lists this as being one of Nintendo's tools for pushing domestic (Japanese) Wii sales, so this is definitely a Wii game.
Wii Fit Plus will hit Japan some time this Fall. The new Mario game is planned for the latter half of the year.
These time frames are just for Japan. While we imagine a new Mario game would be a simultaneous worldwide affair, it's possible we'd have to wait for a new Wii Fit. Japan got the original a few months before us.

Nikkei Net reports that Nintendo plans to release a new Mario game in the second half of the year. (Thanks for the tip Ishaan!!) No specifics were mentioned. Should we get excited?
Maybe. The report may have been referring to Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games which stars Mario and will be published by Nintendo in Japan. It could be a Mario RPG, a new Paper Mario game or Mario anything.
The Nikkei also mentions a sequel to Wii Fit has to be Wii Fit Plus. The follow up includes online support so you can compare your physical prowess with friends and is scheduled to ship this fall.

Wii Fit not cutting the fat fast enough? Don't sweat it, the house of Mario is getting ready to make your weight loss competitive. According to Japan's Nikkei business daily, Nintendo will be launching its Wii Fit plus in autumn that will let users compete with friends and family over the Internet to "lose weight and other activities" -- the latter presumably hinting at cruel taunting Miis with the ability to point and laugh at the fatties. The new balance board is said to feature more precise measurements to better hone your sense of embarrassment and shame. E3 kicks off next week where we'll undoubtedly hear more if the rumor is true.

Hello,
This is a gameplay video of patapon DS' first level.
You'll see only the bottomscreen, because the topscreen isn't used!
Nothing in this video will represent the quality of the final release.
If Sony is going to shut down my project, I'll make a new project with a slighly different name, because the NDS deserves a game like Patapon (or starcraft).
I won't give up !
Sponsors are welcome! Source: http://ederagon.blogspot.com/2009/05...f-patapon.html

Stratton is back with a new release of Parallel Worlds: Combined for the DS, heres his release details:
Parallel Worlds is a game that is basically a combination of basically all the platforming game ideas I've had since I started coding. The idea itself is basically the same as the name - you travel through various games, or 'worlds', and complete objectives, which will allow you proceed to the next world, and so on. Each world/game is entirely different - they each have their own enemies, bosses, and objective types. I hope to add some extras, such as unlockable worlds and characters, plus other game types and some collectibles, though these will probably come later.
Story:
You are a child in the world of Shuza. Shuza is a world of magic and technology, where people live in a world very similar to ours. There is no government: the world is overlooked by a group of Elders called the Onehood, who have the power to direct energy.
The one problem with their world is that their magic and happy lifestyles are maintained by Shuzos, a mystical force that emanates from Shuza.
The mysterious company Organi Co. has recently designed a device which will solve this problem forever. It is able to generate energy similar to that emanated by Shuza. The Onehood accepted the proposal to use this energy to maintain their energy needs.
You grew up with no wants because of this wonderful device. But when you first set your eyes on it, you know there is something terrible about it. After investigating, you find that the device runs by sucking the energy from Parallel Worlds. Other planets like Shuza are losing their energy because of this device! You swear to make things right at any cost.
You enter the room to shut the thing down, but when you get closer, you feel something pulling you in. Your intent has been detected by the impressionable Shuzos energy, and it would be glad to let you help. But rather than turn itself off, it pulls you into its dimensional vortex. You must act to equalise the Shuzos energy.
When you arrive in the world of Jelli, you are surprised to find that, to use the energy from other worlds, it must be refined. The pure Shuzos energy that the machine obtained resulted in Dark Shuzos generation in these other worlds. This Dark Shuzos is also very impressionable, but instead of aiding you, it aims to stop you. It transforms itself into enemies who seek your destruction. You must destroy the wormhole to your home world on every world, to prevent the energy link. And then you must evacuate in a race to return to Jelli, before this parallel world is fully separated from the device.

Quipeace has released a new version of PaddleDS, heres his release news:
Hey all!
Version 0.3 is out , I finally got FAT to work properly so Hiscores and settings are working , not much else has changed, for now the sfx won't work but they will be included in the next version . Settings are stored on your card in the folder PaddleDS.
The main goal of PaddleDS right now is gaining as many points as you possibly can by bouncing a ball trough a little gate (Now in the form of two arrows in a box), while resisting the increasing gravity. Hitting the ball too hard will cause the ball to break trough the paddle so watch out
Have fun and post your ideas and feedback here
Quipeace
Changelog:
Code:
V 0.1:
Cleaned up sourcecode, now featuring pointers
Added score system and increasing difficulty
Optimized collision, still no collision with the goal though...
V 0.2
Further optimized code, now using structs
Complete graphical overhaul
The Ball now collides with the goals (now arrows in a box XD)
Ball will keep bouncing on the paddle, to prevent cheating
V 0.3
Hiscores & Basic settings are working
You can now pause the game by pressing the shoulder buttons

News/release from Cryptic
MazeMania is a project I came up with during an education gaming class.
It is inspired by MazeFinger for the iPhone. I then took that idea and added an educational aspect by adding "Question rounds." These question rounds consist of grammar questions from the SAT. The questions and levels are loaded with EFS. Originally it was supposed to be dynamic reading so that the user can modify their own levels and/or questions; however, after much struggling with FAT (and it's no longer supported?) I went with EFS. The questions and levels can be changed easily but it requires a recompilation. If you would like to modify the questions to meet your needs (great tool to help kids learn), let me know and I can give you the source.
Features:
* 45 Fast and Fun Mazes
* 9 SAT Grammar Question Rounds
* Stylus control
* Multiple Walls and “Death Areas”
Currently working on:
* Highscores
o Probably online
* More Cheats
* Larger question bank with random choice for each question round. This way the player doesn’t get the same questions.
* Help screen with instructions, objective, etc.
Download the game here: http://deantcarlson.com/wordpress/?page_id=14
(Movement is kind of wonky on an emulator but works great on DS)
This is my first game on any platform. Any suggestions and/or constructive criticism is encouraged

Heres a release from the Nintendo Max Coding Comp:
brunette_redhead proposes "bugiin" on Wii Dev Nintendomax Competition 2009, which bear a *** you should clear the screen of all insects that are present on the screen.
Quote:
If you have ever played Mario Paint for the SNES, then you have probably played the game Gnat Attack (also known as Coffee Break). My game is a spinoff of this, created for the Wii. I took many creative liberties with it, including redoing all of the sound effects with my brother and my girlfriend, and switching up the game just a bit modes.
There are two main game modes, the "Classic" mode, which is level based much like the original. There is also a "Swarm" mode which features endless enemies.

Heres a release from the Nintendo Max Coding Comp:
Royal proposes "Zerace" in its version 0.7, which is a port of the game for windows with the same name.
Quote:
The purpose of this little car game is very simple: make the best time on each circuit.
It is based on the online game "Renault F1" and other games and free as Generally Trophy (which some sounds are reused).
Some circuits are derived from circuits used for the competition ICFP Programming Contest.
Zerace is programmed in C and uses the SDL library.
