Newly released today is the biggest game of the year for Wii Owners so far:
Summer already here but you have not planned your family trip yet? let Wii Sport Resort give you some inspiration.
Tennis and bowling are good activities, but want to try out more exotic sports such as canoeing? Pick up your Wii remote control and slap the motion plus gadget onto it.
With the motion plus sensor attached, the remote control can track 3D movements and is even more sensitive to your actions. This opens a world more options.
You can use the remote control as the pedals of a bicycle or to steer your canoe, since it now senses your arm's circular movments.
Burn some more calories this summer, visit the sports resort and get a taste of the most uncommon sports. Wii Sports Resort is available for English speaking gamers

DekuTree64 after a long while has today posted an update to Animanatee (art program for DS), heres the news from the coder:
Hey all you manatee fans! After a long break, I finally was in the mood to work on this again. So over the past 4 days, I've been typing away and added a whole bunch of new features useful for both animating and doodling still pictures (what I've been using it for most). Check the first post for the list, or just grab the file here.
Particularly welcome is that I got sick of trying to find that stupid undo crash and just threw out the old convoluted system and wrote a better one. Thus far all crashes I've encountered were minor and have been fixed, so hopefully there will be no more lost work from now on.
I also made a little PC utility to convert .anm files to .avi, incase you forget to check the export AVI box when saving before you go to transfer to computer.
As usual, post any bugs or feature requests here or by email (my username here at hotmail dot com).

Marc has updated Dop-IOS to v7 :
Dop-IOS lets you download and install any IOS from Nintendo servers. You can also apply the trucha bug to them.
Features
Download any IOS from Nintendo servers
Select between oldest version or newest version of any IOS
You can apply the signature hash check (trucha) again
You can also apply ES_Identify function patch to IOS36 (useful for AnyTitle Deleter and >3.4 users)
Protection: you cannot install stubs. You could get a brick if you install an stub IOS that your System Menu uses. If you want them, just update through Wii menu or disc.
Stores files on SD: you can reuse all your downloaded IOS with Dop-IOS or another application.
Shows your IOS versions
Why?
Dop-IOS started as a simple modification of Tona's Shop Installer. I wanted to trucha patch my IOS36 in order to play my Super Smash Bros. Brawl texture modifications on 4.0. I could install an older version of IOS36, but then my original games like Pikmin 2 or Punch-Out always asked me to update. These games include 3.4 update with all bugfixed IOS. So the only way to get trucha games on 3.4/4.0 without being asked to update by newest games was to download latest IOS36, patch and install it.
If you are on 3.4 'dop' IOS50, if you are on 4.0 'dop' IOS60. Then you will be able to load trucha games on System Menu (with a modchip, of course). Now you must 'dop' other IOS:
IOS36 (for Smash Bros. Brawl and other Nintendo games)
IOS21 (for third-party games like No More Heroes or Dragon Ball Z Tenkaichi 3)
Some games could use another IOS. You only need to know which IOS they use and 'dop' it.
NOTE: Dop-IOS requires a trucha bugged IOS249.
History
Version 7
Fixed 'IOS62' bug.
Added IOS56 (WiiSpeak channel users only).
Added short descriptions to IOS selection.
Version 6
Added support for IOS57.
Cleaner code.

Nintendo converted Times Square into a tropical island getaway for a day to celebrate this coming Sunday's launch of Wii Sports Resort, the first sequel to Nintendo's flagship Wii title. We had a chance to chat with Bill Trinen, product marketing manager for Nintendo of America, while overlooking the festivities below. He told us that in spite of the advances made by Wii MotionPlus, he doesn't see Nintendo enforcing it as a new standard. "I don't think that we would or that we would necessarily require other developers to do so either," Trinen said. "Something like Wii MotionPlus and whether or not you want to incorporate that is more of a creative decision that's up to each individual developer."
"I think it certainly suits specific types of games, but it may not make sense to include Wii MotionPlus in every game," Trinen continued. "For example, if you look at the motion controls of New Super Mario Bros. for Wii that's coming out this holiday, it's not the kind of control that requires or would really benefit from more precise movements. So it doesn't make sense for a development team to spend time implementing something that's going to enhance the end experience. I do think over time, we're going to see a lot of developers taking a look at it and finding things they can do that they couldn't do with the standard Wii Remote and we're going to see those experiences come to life."
When asked if Nintendo had any plans to revise the standard Wii Remote to include Wii MotionPlus tech, Trinen replied, "those are all good ideas. We've thought about all that as well. At this point, we're really just focused on launching Wii Sports Resort and obviously getting Wii MotionPlus off to a good start and getting it to the hands of as many of the Wii consumers as we can. And from there, once it becomes time, we may look at what other options are available."

One of the top DS development houses in the industry doesn't see the DSi as just a DS Lite plus gimmicks.
"It's not just a DS with cameras in it as some might think," video game producer David Nathanielsz told Kotaku in an interview earlier this week. "It's a more powerful platform."
Nathanielsz is the executive producer of the forthcoming Band Hero DS, which is in development at Activision's Vicarious Visions studio. (Check out Kotaku's Band Hero DS interview.) Vicarious Visions has distinguished itself in recent years at being one of the top houses for DS development, pushing the hardware more aggressively than most studios outside of Nintendo.
But Vicarious Visions has released just one download-only game for Nintendo's DSi, which has been on the market in the U.S. since April. The studio's next game, November's Band Hero DS, won't even play on the DSi. One reason for the studio's lack of DSi compatibility for its next project is obvious: the DSi lacks the Game Boy Advance slot that current models of the Vicarious Visions' DS music games — including Band Hero DS — require. It's where the games' guitar-grip peripheral plugs into.
Nathanielsz wouldn't say whether Vicarious Visions has found an alternate method for connecting guitar peripherals to the DSi for future releases, but he did say that not supporting the DSi with Band Hero DS was more than just a matter of the missing GBA slot.
"This is something we've really been thinking about and working on," he said. "What's interesting about the DSi is [that] it's a much more capable system than the DS and DSLite than some may think." He was suggesting that the machine has more horsepower, something I've heard from other DS developers as well but did not have a chance to follow-up on in this interview.
"We want to do it right," said Nathanielsz. "We want to get the best experience for what that platform can deliver."

Gears of War won't be coming to Nintendo's Wii platform, despite its 50 million users.
Epic Games's Unreal Engine would have to be scaled down to make it work with the Wii and VP Mark Rein told IndustryGamers it's not worth it.
If you stretch something too thin, it becomes very thin. How do you support that? We don't make games for that platform because we don't see a market for the kinds of games we make – let's be honest.
Mark said other developers that have tried to simplify complex games for the Wii in the past have flopped. He cite the example of the Madden game on the Wii, saying it was "a dumbed down game."
Mark said that if Nintendo came up with more processing capability, more memory and better graphics, Epic Games will be prepared to make games for it. He says:
Industry Gamers: We're a very high-end engine, and we have the best tools and awesome visuals and great physics. It's more likely the platform will rise up to meet us than we'll go down [to customize our technology for it]. And eventually I think that'll be the case, and it'll be true of handhelds and even the iPhone.
Epic Games's Unreal Engine works with PCs, Macs, XBoxes, PlayStations and Dreamcast.

New from Zarakava
I am proud to be releasing my first game. At this point, all the basic gameplay is coded in.
Game Name: Space Destroyers
A space shoot-em-up with a twist. As your score increases, you level up as in a typical RPG. You are currently able to choose between increasing ship speed, increasing bullet speed, or increasing number of bullets fired.
Currently implemented:
Basic graphics. I am not artistic, so I am using various sprites and backgrounds.
Up to level 9, with 3 speed increases each and 2 levels of weapons.
One enemy type, typical fight pattern of straight down.
To Be Implemented:
Explosion animation
More enemies and bosses, to appear with a higher score/"level"
High Score List
Continue Feature(Possible)
Music
Better Graphics as can be found.
More Level Up options, including special talents unlocked at certain levels.
To Be Changed:
EXP/Score system. I've never been good with choosing a EXP table. Advice anyone?
Suggestions will be considered. Bugs will be fixed and credited to the finder.
Thank you for reading and trying my first game.
