Warner Bros. has told Eurogamer that ambitious DS puzzle game Scribblenauts will be released in the UK on 25th September.
Scribblenauts is a side-scrolling game where the player has to try and get hold of "Starites" by summoning objects into the world.
The twist is that you are supposed to be able to summon just about anything you can think of by writing its name on the screen with the stylus. Ladders, beavers, taxis, hats, etc. As developer 5th Cell demonstrated when we took a look recently, there's an amazingly vast number of things to summon, and they're all supposed to act as you would expect.
We've just taken delivery of a recent build of the game with 40 out of around 220 levels included, so look out for more of our thoughts on Scribblenauts in the days ahead.

Tomenasanner Wii, a Konami developed game for mobile phones, is being ported to WiiWare. The 2D game is played with one button that makes a salaryman leap over obstacles, line dance with high school students, and ride a triceratops like a horse.
In later levels players run on the moon and in the depths of hell.
A split screen multiplayer mode for up to four players and worldwide online leaderboards are new for the Wii version.
Wait, worldwide online leaderboards? I guess Tomenasanner Wii won’t just be for Japan then!
The zany game costs 500 Wii Points ($5) and is slated for release sometime this summer. Check out the screenshots on Konami’s product page and this trailer to get a clearer sense of how wacky Tomenasanner is.

Why you'd establish and then ditch a well-known title of your game series is beyond us, but that's what Altus has done with Trauma Team - the latest game from the guys who did the brilliant Trauma Centre games. And here's a new behind-the-scenes trailer.
The change of title is indicative of a reboot for the series; instead of playing as a surgeon through the whole game, it broadens the scope allowing you to be a general surgeon, diagnostician, E.M.T., orthopedic surgeon, endoscope technician, and medical examiner.
It's also got a new dynamic story in a hand-drawn anime style, and looks very nice. Spring 2010 is the ETA.

Representatives from Nintendo of America have released an official response to the NPD Group's US sales data for June 2009, focusing on healthy sales for its Nintendo DS portable console and its new Motion Plus accessory for the Wii.
As previously reported, the Nintendo DS sold a total of 766,000 units in June, which the company pointed out is more than all other consoles combined. According to Nintendo, 424,000 of these were the new Nintendo DSi, while 342,000 are the original Nintendo DS Lite.
Nintendo also reports that it has sold a total of 374,000 units of its new MotionPlus accessory for the Wii, with approximately 169,000 sold in a standalone package and 205,000 packaged with EA's Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10.
"More consumers continued to gravitate toward products that offer quality experiences and great value for the whole family," said Nintendo of America executive vice president of sales & marketing Cammie Dunaway. "Consumers again selected Nintendo systems for those experiences, particularly our hand-helds."

Independent artists will be able to use the XNA Creator's Club to produce the Rock Band note-charts for their music and sell them in game later this year. Bands will use their original song masters and generate a MIDI file that produces the game 'gems' to which players can follow along. Tracks must pass a review process with other XNA members, and then a final approval from MTV Games. Songs will be sold for between 50 cents and $3, with the artist getting a 30% cut after MTV and Microsoft take their cut. The best tracks will also make their way to the Wii and PS3 after a 30-day exclusive period.

505 Games U.S., in collaboration with 1C Company, the publishers of upcoming WWII flight combat title IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds Of Prey, today shed some light on the processes by which the game's impressive visuals are produced, including the use of satellite photography. Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (STRM) database pictures, renowned for their incredible precision, have been used to recreate the landscapes of war-torn Europe in IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds Of Prey in remarkable detail.
Building accurate 1940's environments using the latest in cutting edge satellite technology comes with a set of immediate problems, most obviously the 50 year time gap in the layout of buildings, foliage and other features, many of which did not exist at the time of the game's setting, as well as other landscape elements which are now long gone from the real word and need to be added to the game. To combat this, the development team of IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds Of Prey have collated and pored over hundreds of wartime photos, documents and maps, painstakingly removing unwanted additions and recreating missing landscape features.
Whenever possible, locations featured in IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds Of Prey have been remodelled according to genuine, historically accurate photos from archives around the world. These were laboriously compared with modern images to ensure all significant features were included or removed as appropriate. Where documented evidence was unavailable, the team took the time to create unique buildings in keeping with the style of the era, often imitating structures from other cites of the era and transposing them into the created landscapes. In total, over two million buildings and around 35 million trees were put in place using these processes to produce a level of realism previously unseen on current generation consoles.
"Collecting all the necessary data, both old and new, to create IL-2 had been a long battle all of its own," commented Alex Price, Senior Global Brand Manager for 505 Games. "The game is now looking as good we had always anticipated it would and clearly, the scouring of archives and satellite databases has all been worth it!"
Developed by Gaijin Entertainment for Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PLAYSTATION 3 computer entertainment system, DiP Interactive for Nintendo DS and SME Dynamic Systems Limited for PSP (PlayStation Portable) system, IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey features the greatest aerial battles of all time, during the Second World War, and boasts the most realistic landscapes and aircraft seen in any flight sim.
IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey will be published by 505 Games in collaboration with 1C Company. For historical imagery being used to develop IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey, visit the official website at www.il2game.com or http://bhimpact.gamespress.com/product_page.asp?i=946 for all the latest information.

The MySims Agents online "Case" is an interactive game that starts with a mysterious surveillance video and ends with details of a powerful, sinister plot. The story gives you a glimpse into what it takes to become an agent, introduces you to some key characters like Morcubus, Brandi, Mayor Skip Rogers, Dr. F and Agent Walker, and to the overall plot of the Nightmare Crown. By solving cases, you will receive some "exclusive" background information on the main mystery in the MySims Agents video game out this fall, as well as access to special downloads and cheat codes. Throughout the interactive experience, you will venture to popular destinations like YouTube, MySpace and Twitter where you'll search for clues and gather intel.
Who is in The Case?
Meet the MySims Agents characters! Throughout the experience, you will be introduced to some key characters, learn their back-story, and prove that you have what it takes to be an agent and take on the main mystery in MySims Agents this fall.
Agent Walker: A no-nonsense, veteran agent with the Sims Protection Agency. He's looking for some new recruits! Think you're up to the task?
Mayor Skip Rogers: Elected mayor of the city in a landslide victory. It's amazing how far a golden smile and well-trimmed facial hair will get you.
Dr. F: Bored with "normal" science, he decided to get a Ph.D. in Mad Science instead. There is not a problem that can't be solved by a new toaster, a new robot, or a new robotic toaster…with lasers and giant claws!
Zombie Carl: He may be a rotting corpse, but you'll never find a more loyal friend in the entire world. Carl has been the Boudreaux family's butler for decades, and he's never missed a day of work. Not even posthumously!
When does The Case begin?
Begin solving the "Case" on Thursday, July 16 at www.mysimsagents.com.
Where does The Case take players?
It all begins at www.mysimsagents.com where you can explore different areas of the MySims world from within the website and beyond to other sites like www.Morcucorp.com or popular destinations like MySpace and Twitter.

Fans of the incredible Flower, Sun, and Rain (really, you’re missing out if you haven’t played it) will be disappointed to hear that the game’s prequel, The Silver Case, which was being ported from PlayStation to DS, is now on hold. Or rather, the port is complete but Suda doesn’t want to release it.
Speaking with Cubed3, Suda explained:
The DS version of “Silver Case” is still up in the air. Actually the game has already been completely ported to the DS, but I have decided that the game itself is very old. Therefore, it is certainly necessary to remake it properly to fit in with the current generation of gamers. So, for now the game has not been released.
While I can see why the game would need to be remade for the DS, I’m not sure that’s in the cards right now, what with Suda’s attention divided among No More Heroes 2, the EA project and probably Natal after that. Frankly, I’ll take what I can get, so if Grasshopper don’t have the time, they’re welcome to put out the completed port and I’d gladly pick it up just to experience another one of Suda’s mind-boggling tales. That, and I really want to see how it ties in with Flower, Sun & Rain.
On the brighter side, though, he did have some positive things to say about the prospect of another game starring Sumio Mondo.
If there is a chance, of course, I would like to make adventure games, but I have no plan right now. However, I am interested in making a new Mondo-related story for new hardware.
Not sure what he means by “new hardware.” Is he referring to Natal? Personally, I feel portables are the way to go for adventure games, but hey…I’ll go where Sumio does.

A hacker by the name of "hetoan2" claims that it is relatively simple to alter variables in High Voltage's Wii FPS, The Conduit, allowing cheaters to attain infinite ammo, health, invisibility from radar, and other beneficial but unfair advantages -- even online. You can see some of the hacks in action in a video on hetoan2's site.
"Everything is virtually unprotected," hetoan2 discovered when he dumped the game's data and opened it up in a remote debugging program. "All values can be edited fairly easily, and there's virtually no sign of an attempt at hiding values, fixing bugs, or preventing online hackers." hetoan2 said that hacking the online version is as easy as hacking the offline version, because the code is completely identical. "The only difference is in the online mode the game sends the variables in real-time to their server."
hetoan2 released some patch codes for The Conduit, but initially altered them to corrupt the save files of anyone using them. Now, he told The Wiire, he's working with High Voltage to identify cheaters, whose MAC addresses are currently being sent to Nintendo for banning.

If you've got WiiConnect24 hooked up on your console, it should be glowing blue right about...now, with Nintendo having just pushed through firmware update 4.1
Unless you're adverse to this type of business (ie you're the homebrewing type), you might want to grab it, especially if you're planning on getting Wii Sports Resort, because when 4.1 was released in Japan earlier this month, that's what it was for. To fix a bug in Wii Sports Resort. Can't imagine it being much/any different for Western Wiis.

According to Ascii Media Works, the release of Dragon Quest IX for the Nintendo DS hasn't just been good business for Square Enix. It's been good news for Nintendo as well.
The market research firm says that in the week before the game went on sale, Nintendo shifted 51,601 DS handhelds. But last week, after the game went on sale? It sold 126,786 of them, making it the first time in around six months that more than 100,000 DS handhelds have been sold in a week.

As reported yesterday, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a Darklord is the headline game on Nintendo's online shops this week, and the platform holder today said it would cost 1000 Wii Points (GBP 7 / EUR 10 approx).
Joining the Darklord on the Wii Shop are two additions to Virtual Console. First there's Musha, another vertical shoot-'em-up for the Megadrive, at an inflated 900 Wii Points (GBP 6.30 / EUR 9) thanks to the ongoing Hanabi Festival, which brings previously Japanese-only games to the West.
Smash Table Tennis for NES (600 Wii Points, or approximately GBP 4.20 / EUR 6) is another Hanabi import, rescued from the 20-year-old remains of the Famicom Disk System, apparently. Not one we've been crying out for but it takes all sorts.
Finally, DSi owners can grab onto A Little Bit of... Puzzle League for 500 DSi Points (GBP 3.50 / EUR 5 approx) if they're so inclined - a cutting of the DS original, which you may remember was based on popular block puzzle Panel de Pon.

Taking a more passive approach with the Wii remote than, say, operating a 15-ton grapple or saving your friends on Tatooine, a team of biomedical engineering undergraduates at the University of Alabama at Birmingham have been developing a companion CPR training program. Using the controller's built-in accelerometer, it tracks hand position as you practice those vital life-saving maneuverings, charting depth and rate of compression to give you a more accurate performance reading than the conventional Resusci Anne mannequin. The American Heart Association is sure impressed: it just pledged a $50,000 fund to UAB for the continuation of the project. The software's expected to be complete early fall 2009, with an open source download being released on the AHA website. No telling what these crazy kids'll accomplish once MotionPlus gets its time to shine.
