Seriously Nintendo, what is it? Do you hate freedom? Are you still bitter about the US reception to your underwhelming GameCube? Whatever the case, we're never going to forgive you for this one. After waiting for years for a Wii in any color other than glossy white, it seems that only the Japanese will be able to enjoy the sleek, sexy and altogether drool-worthy black Wii console. In fact, a rep for the Big N informed GameDaily that there are "no plans to have other colors of the Wii in the United States." As for us? We're plugging our ears and pretending this "individual" has no idea what he / she is talking about. And weeping, uncontrollably.

Heated game of tennis sees curvy popster collide with table lamp
Mirroring the incident that saw a staff writer inflict pain upon a colleague when Nintendo’s Wii first arrived at the Intent office, American pop star Christina Aguilera has reportedly suffered an injury whilst playing popular multiplayer romp Wii Sports.
GameDaily reports that a source stated: “Christina loves her Wii as a fun way to do a little work out. Now she’s a mother, it’s perfect for her.
"She and Joel were in the middle of a particularly heated game of tennis, and Christina came off a little worse for wear in a run-in with a table lamp – she has a bruised hand but is more upset that she lost the game”.
Bad news for Christina – but good publicity for Wii Sports ahead of the release of sequel Wii Sports Resort next Friday (July 23rd).

Professor Layton and Pandora's Box, the second instalment in the adventures of the puzzle obsessed don, has been given a firm European date, with the Nintendo DS game coming out on September 25.
Developed by Level 5 and published by Nintendo, Professor Layton's games have already reached their fourth entry in Japan, where a feature film is also in the works.
To date, only the first game in the series has been translated – and it proved one of the DS's most lovable games when released last year, as Professor Layton and the Curious Village earned an impressive 8.5.
Professor Layton and Pandora's Box is known as Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box in the US, and our American colleagues grabbed some brief hands-on time with the game at this year's E3.

Last month, we reported that Nintendo would be bringing the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon series to WiiWare. The information was a bit shaky, so we covered the story in question marks and asked that you treat it as a rumor.
Well, you can now ignore the question marks! Pokemon Mystery Dungeon is indeed coming to WiiWare through a multi-SKU release that hits Japan in less than a month! Nintendo opened an official Japanese site today, offering first screens and video footage for the game (the video button is under Pichu).
On the DS, the Mystery Dungeon series put you in direct control of a group of Pokemon and had you explore randomly generated dungeons, facing off against rival Pokemon and using items to advance. The games also featured some unique Wi-Fi connectivity which allowed players to save their friends from peril.
The Wii entries in the series appear to mimic their DS counterparts closely, but with one major exception. Everything is now in full 3D. This includes the dungeons and all the Pokemon creatures. Nintendo promises something that resembles a picture book.
The Wii versions also add a number of gameplay changes. You can now have your Pokemon climb atop one-another to form a tower. In this form, the Pokemon attack in groups, all in a single move. Screenshots show two towers facing off against one-another in what looks like an intense fight.
WiiConnect24 is also being put to use here. Even when your Wii is turned off, you'll get missions sent out to you. You may even get some special pieces of information describing the whereabouts of certain Pokemon.
In Japan, the WiiWare version of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon will arrive as three separate releases: Flame, Storm, and Light. These offer different starting points and initial Pokemon choices. Flame starts you in Pokemon Village and gives you access to flame-based Pokemon. Storm starts you in Pokemon Beach, and offers up an initial selection of water Pokemon. Light starts you in Pokemon Garden and gives you access to electric Pokemon.
All three will hit Japan on August 4, priced at 1,200 WiiPoints each.
Nintendo hasn't announced a release outside of Japan, but given the popularity of Pokemon just about everywhere, you can probably expect your choice of downloads at some point.

Remember the artwork for Rockman EXE: Operate Shooting Star? It’s not a crossover game. Capcom revealed the project today and it’s a Nintendo DS remake of Mega Man Battle Network.
Capcom’s “data action RPG” will have extra content not found in the original game. The concept art suggests Mega Man EXE and Mega Man Star Force will team up, but there’s a 200 year gap between their stories. We’ll have to wait for more information to Capcom to find out how that’s going to work.
Rockman EXE: Operate Shooting Star is slated to come out in Japan this winter.

Looks like PAL territories will get a chance to trap adventurers and talk to tonberries(ss) before us. Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a Darklord with English text arrives in Europe this Friday.
You control the daughter of the Darklord and have to fortify your lair to keep invading adventurers out. As you progress through the game you pick up artifacts and unlock more monsters to use. Square Enix also mentions “major downloadable content” some of which has already been released in Japan. Prices range from 100 Wii Points ($1) for spells to 500 Wii Points ($5) for the newly released stage pack.
Since the English version is ready a domestic release can’t be too far behind. Perhaps, we’ll see Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a Darklord on Monday.

Famitsu has given Dragon Quest IX a perfect 40/40 score in its review. According to Kotaku, the reviewers lauded DQIX's "ground breaking" multiplayer and its music, and called the storyline "easy to follow and straightforward, but also with moving scenes as well."
While it's kind of a running joke that Famitsu basically rubber-stamps effusive reviews for Square Enix titles, we were surprised to discover that this game is actually the first Dragon Quest to receive a perfect 40, and is one of only ten 40 scores awarded. Of course, Dragon Quests III, VII, and VIII weren't far off with their 39 ratings.
Kotaku also notes that the Amazon Japan reviews tend ... not to be as positive, though they apparently center around complaints about the Sandy character, an annoying ganguro fairy who has already inspired a "Die Sandy " Flash game

Run. Run! Run for your life, but don't step over giant green pipe on your way out, or the zombie Super Nintendo will catch you to suck your blood and soul. The damn thing even glows in the dark:
Why would anyone do this to a perfectly functional console—which is still fully operational after this defacing? I don't know, but I like the way they think.

Over at Bazzie Bizzle.com we've posted an interview with raz0red, a well known emulator author from the Wii scene. This is a follow up to the ZX-81 interview featured here on DCEmu a few weeks ago. The following is a quote from our News page:
Recently, I did an interview with emulator author Chris Smith. This is the second instalment in a series of interviews here on the site. The following is a quote from that interview, which I have now posted.
A few days ago, I was fortunate enough to get a chance to interview one of the Wii scene's best emulator authors. Chris Smith (aka raz0red) has released Wii ports of Stella, Atari800, ProSystem Emulator, and Handy/SDL. He also does a podcast (along with two good friends) called Twitch Asylum Video Game Radio.
Here's the whole interview. I hope everyone enjoys this one as much as the last one.

Pasta Games is pleased to announce its latest creation MAESTRO! JUMP IN MUSIC. The game is a truly unique concept combining traditional platform games and the pleasure of music creation in a way that is both astounding and natural – after you see it. The game will be available this autumn for Nintendo DS.
Discover Presto, the music-loving bird, and make him evolve in a colorful, decibel-filled journey. Use the stylus to scrape, rub, tap and whirl to the rhythm of the level's music and like a good Maestro, stick to the original. Presto will jump or get off a platform in the order in which you strum the string, flying with his small wings to reach the music score.
During the game numerous challenges will require your utmost attention: special strings, flying enemies, targets to knock down as fast as lightning… all this in order to create a symphony with your fingertips. But don't be satisfied with just a few jingles: chorus singing will earn you many more points!
MAESTRO! JUMP IN MUSIC is one of the first games to truly make the most of the Nintendo DS microphone, allowing players to indulge themselves singing their heads off! You can let your vocal cords loose with the 18 songs featured in this game. What better way to liven up your fellow passengers whilst on a long underground trip?
Breaking the stagnant musical game mould, MAESTRO! JUMP IN MUSIC allows you to rediscover great classics such as Beethoven's 5th Symphony, one of Brahms' Hungarian Dances or Dvorak's Symphony "From the New World", including crazy interpretations of contemporary themes such as "Fame", "ABC" or "Our House".
Graphically the game has its own style blending 2D and true 3D graphics to produce an inimitable look. You can discover six different worlds, ranging from an aquatic setting to a Far West environment, each with their own specific sounds. Andiamo!
