Tantric has released a new version of the Snes Emulator for Gamecube and Nintendo Wii
Snes9x GX is a Super Nintendo™ / Super Famicom emulator for the Nintendo Wii.
Snes9x GX is a port of Snes9x 1.51 ( http://snes9x.ipherswipsite.com). It was
originally ported by SoftDev for the GameCube, and has been worked on by
various authors. Development has since moved to the Wii, and the project is
currently being maintained by Tantric and michniewski.
Snes9x GX is a "homebrew application" which means you will need a way to run
unsigned code on your Nintendo Wii. The best website for getting started with
Wii homebrew is WiiBrew ( www.wiibrew.org).

Rather than slaying Heartless creatures with the now iconic keyblade weapon, players could have been using something more brutal in the Kingdom Hearts series.
In an interview with Famitsu (via 1up), Kingdom Hearts producer Tetsuya Nomura revealed that the initial weapon concept designs for the series weren't so kid friendly.
"Actually, the first weapon I showed Disney was a chainsaw. It was this chainsaw-like weapon that I had a rough sketch of when I first showed my concepts to Disney. Everyone got this scrunched-up look on their face and nobody said a word in the entire room. Dead silence. And I thought 'No, I guess this wouldn't work, huh?'"
Oh, to have been a fly on the wall during that meeting. It would have been interesting to see how different the series may have turned out had the chainsaws remained.

Quirky proposes a new version of its excellent Internet browser for the DS "Bunjalloo.
Quote:
Changes in 0.7.5:
* Improvements to caching - logging in to GMail works again
* Clicking preference icon goes straight to preferences
* Fix encoding problems that caused crashes
* Fixed lots of non-ascii character keyboard bugs
* Fix configuration changes that use escape characters%
You may have to manually fix the download path in your configuration settings. This is because the download path could have become messed up and show all path separators as% 2F instead of /.

Mplayer CE is a fork of the Team Twiizers MPlayer port, combining elements of MPlayerWii and GeeXboX.
Changelog
0.7
Files now first analyse, followed by cache, as cache was emptied on analysing previously so now you'll see cache filling later.
Improved audio/video internet cache, detects if it is a internet stream, if it's a radio stream then initial cache fill is small.
Optimizing memory access suggestion from Shagkur, cache thread is now more stable.
A8 patch added for DVD playback in cIOS202 to avoid problems with old ModChips.
Improved libfat and fix for special characters.
Using latest Libfat to prevent possible corruption on sd.
Improved USB hotplug and dvd detection, echi module modified for more compatability with usb devices.
Can now mount any fat partition, shouldn't matter if partition is set as primary or activated.
Now has real fat32 limit therfore can now play larger files.
Video files that hadn't worked previously may work now.
New buffering system implemented for when buffering is low, if cache becomes low, it will pause and re-buffer to fill cache-min value, to prevent possible hangs with bad connections. You can see the cache by pressing 1 twice on the wiimote, when cache drops to 3% then it will pause.
Shoutcast TV is complete with caching, thanx to Extrems, Review menu.conf.
If IOS202 is installed via the Installer then DVDx is not required for DVD Access.
New cIOS Installer
MPlayerCE will now detect the presence of IOS202 to decide to use DVDx or not, so people that install the cIOS202 don't need to install DVDx to use the DVD functions. Default DVDx install can be used if you install IOS202 now. The new installer is for Homebrew USB2 only, this will install IOS202 using base IOS60 automatically as IOS60 has improvements in wifi. Now you can select the IOS to use to do the installation, so you can select a IOS with the fake sign bug. (The reason for DVDx not having to be installed if IOS202 is installed on the wii, is that there is a patch in IOS202 that doesn't require DVDx, and can access DVD without it). The cIOS is needed for MPlayerCE to use the USB2 driver. For more details read the README that is part of the package.

Capcom sure does love teasing Wii owners. First with Street Fighter 4, and now with Resident Evil 5.
Producer Masachika Kawata told NowGamer Resident Evil 5 could be done on the Wii, with the only exception being the obvious graphical downgrade.
"Hypothetically speaking, the Resident Evil 4 engine would work perfectly for replicating the gameplay but we would never be able to recreate the graphical quality," said Kawata. "A gun shooting game like Darkside Chronicles makes much more sense for Wii so, in short, Resident Evil 5 Wii Edition isn't likely to happen."
But Kawata just couldn't stop there; he had to leave us all with a cliffhanger.
"Having said that," he said. "Cavia [the developer] has surprised us with the quality of graphics in Darkside Chronicles, so it may actually be possible after all…"
Oh, Capcom. We love your games. We really, really do. But please, stop teasing us.

Nintendo is all set to give casual fitness pursuers a set of additional activities through Wii Fit Plus later this year. The big question is, how much will we have to pay for it?
The answer is, not much at all! Some unconfirmed (but pretty reliable) reports from Japan have Plus set to sell for a mere 2,000 yen over there. That's about $21 US!
This, of course, is just for the game on its own. Nintendo will also be releasing it as part of a bundle with the Balance Board. That will presumably have pricing more close to the original Wii Fit.
Nintendo hasn't made official announcement of its pricing and release strategy for Wii Fit Plus, so consider this just a likely rumor for the time being. We'll let you know once something more solid has been announced.

Oh sure, the DSi was the definite hotness when it sprung onto the scene earlier this year, but if you're growing somewhat bored of the same old camera + touchscreen action, why not spruce things up with an all new exterior? The case you're looking at above does require the disassembly of your console, and thus, you can kiss your remaining warranty goodbye. Frankly, we view the sacrifice as thoroughly worth it, as XCM's Eye Candy shell is practically guaranteed to get more eyes, fingers and tongues on your machine. And really, who wouldn't want that?

I played just enough Sky Crawlers: Innocent Aces with Xseed to get a feel for the controls. Project Aces developed an innovative motion control system where the remote acts as a throttle and the nunchuck controls the direction of your plane. No, not the analog stick on the nunchuck. Tilting the nunchuck moves the plane.
It’s tempting to swing the nunchuck wildly when an enemy plane whizzes by. Instinctively, I wanted to do that, but Sky Crawlers isn’t designed for jerky movements. Ace pilots gently tilt the nunchuck and close in on their targets with somersaults. Once you’re near a mark a meter starts filling up. When it gets to level one or higher you can do a fancy maneuver to get behind an enemy plane and shoot it down.
I stuck with this strategy for a level and it worked pretty well.
Meanwhile my allies just flew around without a care in the world, but I suppose that makes sense in this universe. As a legendary pilot you can’t let computer controlled planes do all of the work.
In one animated cut scene a rival pilot sadly reminisced over battles since her skill wasn’t anywhere near the protagonist’s. She spoke in Japanese because the version I played was the Japanese build. Xseed is still working on localizing and dubbing Sky Crawlers with English voice acting. I asked if they were planning to keep the Japanese voice track in and that hasn’t been determined yet.
A representative from Xseed also assured me Sky Crawlers: Innocent Aces will land in North America this holiday season even though they are working on a ton of other games.

Home improvement giant B&Q wants to make its very own video game, CasualGaming.biz sister site MCV understands. A reliable source close to the firm told MCV that it is on the hunt for a studio to create an ‘instructional-style’ DS game or a ‘pure fun game based on DIY jobs for the Wii.’
The decision to develop a game follows the successful launch of the company’s first How to DIY DVD, which is available to buy in-store and online.
“It may seem bizarre to see a retailer ‘cross the floor’ in this way,” said a trade insider.
“But when you consider how mainstream instructional and self-help games have become, especially on DS, suddenly B&Q’s plan doesn’t seem so wacky.”
When contacted about the proposed idea, a company spokesperson told MCV that B&Q is currently “not in discussions to do anything in the gaming industry.”
