No doubt inspired by mega-popular Phoenix Wright personalizer Objection!, the folks over at PhantomHourglass.org have put together a little Flash application that lets you create your own "You got an item" scene from The Legend of Zelda (or Link to the Past). Not only can you personalize what the old man tells you, but you can also change the item Link picks up from a boring old sword to any 35 x 35 pixel image (might we suggest this charming Joystiq logo).
Despite the crack about free time in the image above, we can't get enough of these little, customizable internet time wasters. The first flash coder out there to make an "Our princess is in another castle" version of this will have our eternal gratitude. And no, this doesn't count.

Well this is a relief. Pirate Battle is a little game that, ever-so-quietly, became the DS title I craved above all others last year. Seriously. Think Fire Emblem and Advance Wars. But with pirates. I know. Awesome.
But last year the game, for want of a better pun, sunk without a trace. No news, no new screenshots, no trailers, nothing. I even contacted them begging, pleading for confirmation the game was still on-track. But nothing.
Guess I didn't say the magic word, because Go Nintendo have been assured by developers Orbital Media that the game is still on-track. The GBA version (which was due to launch alongside the DS version...no, I don't see the point either) has walked the plank (ANOTHER PUN), but the DS one is still alive and kicking, and Orbital Media are even promising the game will appear on "another" system. Good news all round, then.

The Official US PlayStation site often showcases the latest games for the PS2, PS3, and PSP. Now they seem to be branching out a bit, if the description of Metal Slug Anthology is any indication.

It's not technically an error. I mean, it is the greatest array of Metal Slug titles ever assembled for the Wii after all. Probably not a good idea to remind customers that the game is already available on a major competitor's system, but who am I to question Sony's marketing tactics?

With a simple hack to Orb's streaming software, a Swedish Wii owner made his iTunes stream music and photos directly to his Wii.
Thanks to Orb's acceptance of third-party addons, they've accepted this as an official feature. All you have to do is download Orb to your Windows-based PC and you're set. At our count, this is the first of the three consoles to be able to stream DRM-protected iTunes music from your PC.

Everyone's favourite bubble-wranglin' dinosaurs are back on the scene in Bust-a-Move Bash! and set to make their Wii debut soon. To get you psyched for all the spherical action coming your way, we've got a bunch of new screens for you to enjoy, so hit the images tab above.
The screens showcase the eight-player action (eight!) that looks crazy fun, though we're not quite sure how Bust-a-Move Bash! will manage eight players at a time. Simultaneous usage of the Wii-mote, GameCube and Classic controllers? Or perhaps four Nunchuk-and-Remote combos, with one person on each element? How about this - we'll get to the bottom of that one, and you just worry about how to fit eight people in front of your television. Deal?

Rare needs to stop teasing us with the drip-fed screenshots of the awesome-looking Diddy Kong Racing DS, and get it out the door.
These fresh images show, for the first time, the brand new course editor which, by the looks of it, will allow you to draw a course on the touch screen.
It's great to see some of the other worlds in full swing, further confirming how great the game is going to look on the small screens.
DKRDS is not due out here until late 2007, but never mind that because it hits the US on February 5 and, as you may already know, there's no region locking on DS. Yes, you need to get on the import bandwagon.

The death of a 28-year-old woman who entered a California radio station contest to "Hold your wee for a Wii," has become the basis of a criminal investigation, reports Reuters.
Jennifer Strange, who lived in Rancho Cordova, had been trying to win one of Nintendo's new consoles for her kids. During the competition, which challenged contestants to drink as much water as they could without going to the bathroom, she got through an estimated two gallons of water.
After the radio show, she called in sick to work, and was later found dead at her suburban home by her mother. The initial findings of the coroner said the death appeared to be consistent with water intoxication.
Initially, County Sheriff John McGinness had said that there were no plans to open a criminal investigation, since Ms. Strange had entered the contest on her own free will.
But in audio recordings which have been posted on the Internet, the DJs are heard joking about contestants dying of water intoxication, even referencing the death of Matthew Carrington, a student who died after drinking too much water during a fraternity hazing. A caller, who identified herself as Eva, also phoned in to the show to warn that the stunt could kill, but she was dismissed by being told that contestants had "signed releases, so we're not responsible."
In light of the new information from the audio tapes, an investigation has been launched, stated a spokesperson for the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department.
Sgt. Timothy Curran said, "We have decided we will open a death investigation which will take weeks and on conclusion our findings will be forwarded to the local district attorney to decide whether to lay criminal charges."
KDND 107.9 has also fired 10 staff, including five on-air personalities, over the incident, as part of its own investigation.

4GB in an miniSDHC card? We scoff at the audacious bulk of such a memory device! See, only microSD can cut it anymore around the Engadget HQ, now that Kingmax has squeezed 4GB of flash memory into a microSDHC card -- champions of lesser memory formats will be shot on sight. Plus it's not just the capacity getting boost, performance has hit new highs as well, with 22.5MBps dual channel read speeds (150x) and normal read speeds of 19.1MBps (127x). That means the card can pull off SD 2.0 speeds in your digicam, while still making for a real kicker of a memory expansion for your phone or media player. Don't bother with looking for a price or availability date, we just pre-ordered the entire first run.

Sorry but I did not get a chance to post my opinion.
Very sad indeed, about the woman died after she drank too much water too fast in the California contest.
To give you an idea of what likely happened in this case. When you drink too much water like what she must have done it is possible to get water intoxication which causes among other things swelling in the cells as well as an imbalance of the bodies electrolytes. The swelling of the cells causes increased pressure on the brain cells, heart etc.
As far as not going to the bathroom well that in it self would not kill someone but can lead to bladder or UTI's, (Urinary tract infections). It is not likely that toxins would build up as the Kidneys will filter very well, in a normally healthy person. Actually your ability to hold your bladder full to the point of harm, other than possible infections, is not likely. What happens is that you get urges to pee in intervals that get stronger. There are 2 sets of muscles for the bladder. The first set of muscle is the "internal urethral sphincter" which we cannot control and when it decides to open we then rely on the "external urethral sphincter" which is the hold it muscle we control and use until we get to a bathroom. When the need to pee is strong and is present a long time the pressure on the external muscle is great and thus it becomes tired. Like any muscle in your body the more you use it the faster it gets tired. Many can hold it for some time but sooner or later that muscle will become so tired that you start to lose feeling and will start to leak to the point of wetting your pants. So therefore it is most unlikely that anyone can harm themselves by holding their pee too long, except infection, as no matter how hard you try you will pee one way or another.
The only way to do this is to do it gradually and even though it is not suggested anyone do this drinking water over a long period of time to test ones endurance and to see who runs to the bathroom first. Too much water in short periods of time is not good at all.
My suggestion if you must try this type of thing do it slowly and make sure that as you reach the bursting point you are close to a bathroom cause once you pass that point where you cannot hold it in you will be soaked if not careful.

Today Namco Bandai announced that it has a new brain teaser in the works for the DS called QuickSpot. A game of concentration, the player's objective is to spot the differences between two nearly identical pictures and circle them on the touch screen, much like that Photo Hunt game down at your local watering hole (no word, yet, on whether or not Namco Bandai will be including an Erotic QuickSpot mode).
QuickSpot contains three single player modes: Rapid Play, Focus Play, and Today's Fortune. Rapid Play sends players through five levels, each containing 10 stages and a boss at the end of each level. Players win medals for solving puzzles and raising their "Brain Activity". Brain Activity is based on Intuition, Concentration, Recognition, Stability, and Judgment. Focus play contains 140 pictures with 10 differences each for the player to spot, and Today's Fortune gives the player their Health, Study, Romance, and Money fortune for the day.
QuickSpot also includes three multiplayer modes: Time Bomb, Scramble Mode, and Download Play. In Time Bomb up to eight players pass one DS around between turns, whereas Scramble Mode and Download Play allow players to compete against each other on multiple systems.
QuickSpot is based on a Japanese game called Machigai Museum. For the US version, Namco has replaced many of the cute but obscure Japanese art with more recognizable (and still often cute) images from classic Namco videogame favorites. For some extra fun while you're waiting for QuickSpot to come out, take a look through our image gallery and see if you can match which pictures are from which game. (HINT: The one with the cars isn't R:Racing Evolution.)
QuickSpot will be testing your attention to detail this spring.

There is still work in progress in this version, so you might notice other menus present and not yet operational. Probably they will in next versions...

Now that we've seen what the magazines have to say, it's high time we checked in with the various sites of the world wide webtron. With mostly favorable reviews of the title (natch), we're glad we do not have to enter the tubes ourselves and personally kill any online entities responsible for bad-mouthing our favorite Ace Attorney.
At the time of this post, we don't have all of the online reviews yet (1UP and IGN), but once they've posted them, we'll come back and update this post.
Gamespot (77/100) says it's more of the same and doesn't innovate: "Justice for All is a good, lengthy adventure with great character-driven storylines, but it fails to build upon the promising groundwork laid by the first game."
Games Radar (80/100) is quick to call it a great follow-up to the previous game: "The charm and clever logic puzzles are still here, and the cases deliver the same charge-back-from-the-edge-of-defeat rush that made the first game so cool. Whether you're a fan of the original or a newcomer to Wright's bizarre legal world, you won't be disappointed."

For those of you looking forward to Hotel Dusk: Room 215 as much as we are, you'll be pleased to know that the Japanese website for the game has updated with a new commercial. The commercial is fairly short, but does a wonderful job of presenting some of the puzzles to be expected, as well as the amazing hand-sketched, noir style that got us interested in the first place. The commercial also presents a large amount of characters that the player is expected to interact with.

Version 2.0 of Mii Mega Mall has been released, heres the full details:
One thing almost every Nintendo Wii owner has in common is an overwhelming attraction to Mii characters. Mii sharing is huge, but the mechanism that Nintendo has provided for exchanging Mii is clunky and slow. That's where we come in. Utilizing the brilliant MiiTransfer technology, we have built the first and only integrated solution to Mii sharing. That solution is the Mii Mega-Mall.
Now, instead of having to exchange console numbers and register with each other, you can use the Internet to share and exchange Miis. The Mii Mega-Mall is a single, streamlined approach that allows just that. It provides a single access-point, with a unified, consistent interface for sharing and retrieving Mii over the Internet.
Everything that you need is included. It features
Mii Preview -New
Image Uploading -New
Rating System -New
Community Policing -New
Column Sorting -New
Built-in RSS capabilities
Download Mii from the Mega-Mall
Multiple simultaneous downloads
Transfer downloaded Mii to your wiimote (using Bluetooth)
Copy Mii from your wiimote to your PC (using Bluetooth)
Upload your own Mii to the Mii Mega-Mall to share with others
In order to provide the most complete package possible, we have collaborated with the biggest names in the Mii-sharing business: Mii Plaza.net and the Mii Transfer Station. Both of these Mii-sharing powerhouses supply RSS feeds to the Mii Mega-Mall. Simply start the application and browse their collections. Find something you want and download it immediately to your PC. You can even download multiple Miis at once. But what good is downloading it, if you can't get it to your wiimote? Fear not, as the tool also allows you upload right to your wiimote (up to 10 at once). There's more. I'm sure most of you have heard of Mii Like Wii.com. They are, hands down, the best Mii tutorial Site out there. They have given us access to their full range of tutorials and they are in the process of creating and uploading their submissions into the Mii Mega-Mall.
Do you have Mii that you want to share with the world? This same tool allows you to copy Mii from your wiimote to your PC and then lets you upload them directly to the Mii Mega-Mall!! That's right, you can share your artistry with the Mii-sharing universe.

Walaber has posted an update to his Wiisticks project
Heres whats new:
new version supports more bluetooth stacks, and allows turning the sticks side to side!
Heres the info:
WiiSticks is my first attempt at combining input from a Wii remote and physics simulation. In the game the user holds 2 wii remotes (or 1 remote with a nunchuck attachment), and flips and spins a rod back and forth between 2 sticks that they control directly with the remote. The input is very intuitive, even providing basic force feedback (the controller rumbles on contact with other objects).
A release version will be available soon. Requires a bluetooth adaptor for your windows PC, and at least 1 Wii remote + Nunchuck, or 2 Wii remotes.
FEATURES
intuitive controls feel "like the real thing"
fully playable with only the wii remote (no mouse or keyboard required)
expandable design means more sticks can be added easily
REQUIREMENTS
Windows XP
3D accelerated video card with current drivers for DirectX or OpenGL
Bluetooth adaptor / bluetooth capability
2 Wii remotes (alternatively 1 wii remote + nunchuck attachment)
