New screenshots for the upcoming balancing-liquid-puzzler Wii game have been released.
From Ignition Entertainment: "Mercury Meltdown Revolution is a brain-teasing puzzle game that challenges players to immerse themselves in a colourful world of sci-fi machines, crazy characters, and bubbling test tubes. Using the Wii Remote, Players guide a liquid mercury ‘blob’, around traps, door switches, spikes, moving floors and other hazardous elements in order to complete the level."
The Mercurcy Meltdown series has been previously released on PSP and PS2 consoles, but the Wii Remote tilt gameplay will bring a new level of experience that compliments the game. Mercury Meltdown Revolution will be coming in Spring '07.

news via vggen

You may recall that rumors ran rampant of a Wii port of Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas in mid-2006, culminating in Ubisoft denying at the time that such a project existed.
Well, those rumors are back, this time fueled by listings for the game at Bart Smit (a Dutch retailer) and a number of other European retail websites. Not only do these listings for a Wii version suggest that the game is coming, but some even have boxart for the game (pictured). While the boxart could've easily been Photoshopped, in general major retailers don't usually show boxart for a game that hasn't been provided by the company itself. The listings also suggest that the game could be released as soon as the end of March.
So is it happening? Given the rumors last year (which started with a listing for the game on one of Ubisoft's websites), the retail listings now, and the commercial success (not so much critical) of fellow Ubisoft FPS Red Steel on Wii, it would seem like an official announcement could be just around the corner like a special ops soldier waiting to strike. Should it become official, we'll of course let you know.

news via portable planet
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess has been selling like the proverbial hotcakes on both Nintendo Wii, and surprisingly, on GameCube. In fact, according to the latest NPD chart, the Wii Zelda: TP sold 519,200 in December. But GameCube’s same title sold slightly more at 532,900. Who knew that the Cube sales would still be so high?
All in all, it was a million unit December for Zelda. Some stats from the Big N:
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess was purchased by an extraordinary 86 percent of Wii buyers, or more than 900,000 games for that system alone. Coupled with the companion version released in December for Nintendo GameCube, the two versions of the newest title totalled approximately 1.5 million unit sales in less than seven weeks, which would represent one of the five best-selling games for the entire year.

The Nintendo DS maintained its lead over next-generation game offerings on strong demand for handheld software in Japan.
Media Create Co. this week said that the Nintendo DS Lite sold 176,219 units between Dec. 25 and Dec. 31.
The touch-screen handheld outsold all next-gen systems in the same period, including Wii, Sony Corp.'s Playstation 3 and Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox 360.
In addition, Nintendo DS titles charted six of the top ten selling titles in the week. Top sellers included Square Enix's Dragon Quest Monsters Joker at No. 1, New Super Mario Bros. at No. 5, and Brain Training 2 at No. 6.
Nintendo this week announced that it sold 5.3 million DS n the U.S. in 2006. The company increased its projected worldwide financial performance for the year on healthy sales for Wii and handheld platforms.

New Release from Dragonminded
Well, I've put out another maintenence release, fixing a few crash bugs and one playback bug, as well as adding a DSO executable format! It is very similar to a plugin but runs standalone instead of attached to a specific set of extensions. Check it out here and download the newest beta! Don't forget to grab the newest wonderswan plugin as the update has added new features to the plugin framework and thus will not work with older plugins!
Head to the newly opened Addons Page to grab stuff designed for DSOrganize. If you want to see your creation on this page and I haven't found it while trolling the forums yet, email me at dragonminded@dragonminded.com and I'll slap it up there for you.
Also, please read my post on the GBADev forums about DSOrganize file formats.
PS. There is a new libFB out as well, with some bugfixes, optimizations to the text rendering engine, and and overall code cleanup. BONUS: Documentation!
Changelog
Fixes found in 2.45
* Increased state field on address displays to be 3 long instead of 2.
* Changed boot function code, hopefully making the arm7 a bit more stable.
* Updaded dldi driver to newest version, should fix problems with some .ds.gba and .sc.nds files.
* Fixed work address display issue with vCards.
* Fixed address crash/corruption on second entry to address screen.
* Fixed crash on sample language bug.
* Fixed sqrt button not working in calculator.
* Fixed scrollbar in text reader not showing highlighted status.
* Fixed massive slowdown with some text files in browser.
* Fixed bug with mono mp3s and skipping.
* Added icon and description to plugin files in the browser.
* Added DSO executable type for standalone apps.
* Added raw stream API to plugins and executables.*
* Added more commands to help text in IRC.
*NOTE: Since the plugin architecture has been updated, please download the latest version of your favorite plugins to continue using them.
Heres a description for those who dont know what this app is:
DSOrganize is meant as a homebrew organizer application for the Nintendo DS that should have come built in in the first place. It is by no means comparible to a full-fledged organizer such as a palm, and it is not planned to become an operating system, video player, or anything similar.

During a visit to London today, I was delighted to find this little beauty.. an outdoor Wii demo unit!
The unit itself consisted of a Wii, nice Samsung HDTV, Wii Sports, 2 Wii-remotes, and 2 guys in some very funky looking white Wii puffer-jackets. They seemed quite happy, and so did the little crowd of people who had gathered to witness the marvel that is Wii Sports.
I know that Nintendo is pumping a lot of cash into advertising, such as the 101 Wii TV adverts that you have probably seen if you watch anything on TV! I really liked the idea and possible gimic-factor of the outdoor Wii demo unit, and hope to see one closer to home very soon!

Okay folks, it's laid out right here for you. If you got your grubby little hands on Wii, then maybe you've been wondering if the component cables really make a difference. Maybe you even blew off buying them, scoffing at the Wii and its low graphics capabilities when compared to the behemoth graphics on-board both the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360.
Well, look no further. This video after the jump clearly shows a pretty fair-sized gap between component and composite, so you might want to reconsider picking some up if you can find 'em. If you were wise and invested in a set of cable, then you can gloat silently in your wisdom. Now I just wish someone would design a website with photos and video of everything I want to buy, laid out comparison-wise. It sure would make the whole decision process a lot easier.

We're not sure which part of the hotness that is today's featured video is the hottest, really. But when you blend footage from some of our favorite characters doing their thing in their own games with clips from Super Smash Brothers Brawl, do we really need to quibble about which part is the most awesome? No, probably not. It's best to just soak it in ... and we're all over the music choices, as well.

Both Capcom and SNK are well-known for their majestic forays into the world of 2D fighting and, like prize fighters, they've got plenty of hits under their belt. Therefore, when these two battling behemoths clash, a card-based tactical tournament game probably isn't what you'd expect from the results - but that's exactly what SNK Vs Capcom Card Fighters is.
Now, UK-based publisher Ignition has announced that its set to bring the DS game to these shores imminently. SNK Vs Capcom Card Fighters offers over 300 cards featuring all your favourite fighters from the likes of Street Fighter II to King of Fighters. Using your strategic wit and cunning, it's up to you to compile your deck then watch as the cards fly.
SNK Vs Capcom Card Fighters is primed and ready to let loose with those fireballs this spring.
