Stewart Green MD of Data Design Interactive, said: “This is already a great game on PC, which is greatly improved with the extensive use of the Wii controllers, to make the player immerse into the magic casting and weapon wielding adventure. We are excited to bring this new genre onto the Wii console.”
“We are really excited to work with Data Design Interactive on the Wii version. We are sure that their expertise will be very positive. The game will take full advantage of the unique Wii controllers, and deliver a unique gameplay experience,” stated Quotix Software, Attila Siladji, Developer of Call for Heroes: Pompolic Wars.
A little about Call for Heroes: Pompolic Wars:
Call for Heroes: Pompolic Wars is a third-person action game with RPG elements. The game positions players in a fantasy medieval world, where a dimensional portal to the Outer Worlds has opened, and an enemy from the darkness has intruded the world. Led by a demon named Pompolic, the armies of demonic hordes have taken over most of the planet. With mysterious origins, Pompolic’s malevolent spiritual being possesses supernatural powers.
His desire is to possess the people and turn them into minions of his dark army, as he wields his power through his servants, the Dark Souls. These Dark Souls - protected by a horde of monsters - are poisoning the minds of his victims and making them slaves of evil. The denizens of this world are on the edge of total annihilation. However, a little hope still exists in the heart of the remaining citizens.
They feel that there exist brave hearts who can save the world from the source of the evil power. If the Dark Souls were to be captured, the onslaught would stop, and Pompolic would be defeated; the call for heroes is made…
Features of Call for Heroes: Pompolic Wars:
# 2 unique characters to choose from
# Each character has unique weapons, items and special abilities
# Character gains experience which will help him to upgrade his strength, armor and health

"Nintendo will take strict legal action against businesses that are earning unfair profits by selling illegal copy machineries and downloading pirated programs," goes the first statement Nintendo's Korean subsidiary has ever made regarding the rampant problem of copyright infringement in their country.
An industry insider asked about the issue by the Korea Herald says an unspecified "machine" can copy DS games, and the titles have been uploaded to websites. It's worth noting that this situation is not specific to Korea; such a setup is also easily obtainable in other territories, including North America. Perhaps less prevalent is Korea's other problem: illegal copies of game software for all three of the big console makers are available below legitimate retail cost in electronics malls.
Nintendo Korea expects to engage in enforcement actions with the help of the police, targeting web sites where illegal copies of Nintendo software is made available. A company official, Sung Hoo-jung, said "On the request of the Korea Game Industry Agency, Nintendo has entered Korea to help the Korean game industry grow into a profitable market. However, increasing software copies and illegal downloads have dampened profitability. This can hamper the development of the game industry."

This week Wii owners can get in the ring with the MEGA DRIVE version of one of the best fighting games of all time. Virtual Console is graced by the ground-breaking Virtua Fighter™ 2 a game which helped evolve the fighting genre into the modern era when it launched in 1996. With nine fighters to master and a selection of devastating combos to perfect, up to two players can take the challenge to find out if they have what it takes to be the Second World Fighting Champion. Virtua Fighter 2 is available now for 800 Wii Points.
Also joining Virtual Console this week are two classic platform games originally for the SEGA MEGA DRIVE, both now available for 800 Wii Points. First up is the highly addictive Wonder Boy in Monster World™, which combines traditional platform action with RPG elements such as gathering clues from townspeople and upgrading weapons and armour. Next up is Alex Kidd In The Enchanted Castle™, an exciting platform title where players must solve puzzles and defeat enemies to save Alex’s kidnapped father. With eleven stages to enjoy and a unique ‘Rock, Paper, Scissors’ boss battle mechanic, this game is a classic for any retro fan.
Finally this week, Wii owners will get to enjoy the Turbografx action shooter Shockman. Players must progress through vast levels by choosing from multiple routes, battling the hordes of robotic adversaries which stand in their way and fighting impressive bosses. Co-operative elements such as “shared life” and a powerful “Team Shockbeam” are available in 2 player simultaneous play. Shockman is available now for 600 Wii Points.
These great games will join the list of 81 classic titles already available for the Virtual Console in Europe. Virtual Console titles are being enjoyed around the world and by the end of March 2007; approximately 3.3 million games had been downloaded globally.

Ed Wood appreciation weekend at The Moon Books Project
At The Moon Books Project we are holding an Ed Wood appreciation weekend. In honor of all the underdogs out there who follow their dreams, we have decided to spotlight a specific film maker. Ed Wood, for those of you who are unfamiliar is hailed as one of the worst film makers of all time. He kept on trying, and surprisingly releasing films and following his dreams.
So in honor of Ed Wood, The Moon Books Project has made three of his films available, for watching on the Nintendo DS. Two of these three are 'classics'. Glen or Glenda is a semi-autobiographical film, and Plan 9 From Outer Space holds the distinction of being called the worst film of all time, and has a huge following in the science-fiction genre.
So, head on over and enjoy the films!

Since its release in 2004 there have been more than 40 million DS units sold worldwide. So, while the expected Mario, Metroid, and Zelda titles keep the system in AAA abundance, there's plenty of shelf space to go around, as DS is picking up gamers of all ages and gameplay styles. If you're a fan of mainstream titles, DS has you covered. If you're down with role playing games, again DS has you covered. It seems that while not all gamers enjoy the same type of entertainment, DS has enough style to go around.
Such is the case with Etrian Odyssey. Chances are you either know this game very well, or have never heard of it, as it is one of the most niche titles on DS, and one of the most peculiar - but intriguing - games I've personally played in a long, long time. Atlus is at it again, this time bringing a new RPG hybrid game from the creator of Trauma Center, and though it's tough to give the final verdict right now, we can at least say that Etrian Odyssey is like nothing we've ever played.

The Wii's growing lineup of anime-influenced titles has thus far consisted primarily of ports of PS2 or GameCube game engines with a few gimmicky Wiimote actions thrown in. Given its minimal support for the Wiimote, we have a feeling that One Piece Unlimited Adventure is no different and was originally planned for a system with a more standard input option. However, in the end, Wii owners are getting this latest One Piece game all to themselves.
Luffy and the rest of the Straw Hat Pirates are playable in Unlimited Adventure, which, like the title suggests, is an adventure game with a large world to explore and lots of enemies to fight. The adventure begins as the crewmembers find themselves scattered about a mysterious island following a shipwreck. Initially, you take control of Luffy in a search about the island for the remaining crew members, but Zoro, Usopp, Sanji, Nami, Tony Tony Chopper, Robin and Franky quickly join the roster.

It's almost impossible to write about dogs and videogames without mentioning a certain hit Nintendo-published DS game in which you interact with a variety of puppies. But, I'm going to make the bold attempt and not pair the words "Nintendo" and the second half of the plural "Dogs" for the remainder of this writeup on Yuke's The Dog Island.
My task isn't too hard, actually, as The Dog Island is nothing like the Nintendo game that features all the dogs. First off, The Dog Island is on the Wii rather than the DS. Also, whereas the Nintendo dog game is more of a virtual pet sim rather than an actual game, The Dog Island is an RPG. You won't be using the Wiimote to pet your puppies here.
Our story begins in a small town somewhere. It's the day of the great festival, and you've just won the official treasure hunt. You decide to give your prize to your little brother, who snuck out of home against your mother's wishes. Then tragedy strikes, as your brother collapses! It turns out that he has an illness, and the only way to cure him is to head to Dog Island and fetch some medicine from the doctor. This involves a journey across the dangerous seas in a pirate's boat, but you decide to take up the challenge.

Fcanas posted this news/release:
I put together a formatted string printer (printf) for the GBA. I wanted this functionality without a whole library to accompany it. It's not really intended to be used within a game, but it's a great tool for high-level debugging.
It requires one tiled background, a charBB, and a screenBB. All of those are configurable. It can print all ascii characters.
Check out the project's website:

Woe be Nintendo of America today, for Satoru Iwata is very disappointed in them. During an earnings call this week, the head of Nintendo lambasted his American brethren for the red headed stepchildren that they are.
Iwata:
When I received a report from the U.S. that they sold 1 million Pokémon Diamond & Pearl already, I asked them, "why did you sell only 10,000 Brain Age last week, when Europe sold through 30,000?" This is a typical example of how I communicate with our people in the U.S.
NOA, why can't you be more like your brother? The video games industry takes a continual dump on Europe year-over-year, and it still outsells you?
In all fairness however, Iwata is probably just trying to set the table for a crazy DS/Wii 2007 in the U.S. Light a fire under some executives asses, you might say. I assume he smells blood in the water (or the competition hemorrhaging money), and wants to strike sooner rather than later.
Interesting note: Iwata also hints that future Wii Channels could come with a price tag attached. Horse Armor Channel, here we come!

Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros. and Metroid Prime 3 all this year? Yes, says Nintendo President Satoru Iwata. He also talked about mergers and acquisitions, shared his thoughts on Second Life and defended the Wii technology, insisting it's "state of the art."
Facing a barrage of questions from investors following Nintendo's announcement of a record year, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata discussed the need to satiate hardcore gamers, Nintendo's recent acquisition of Xenosaga developer Monolith, Nintendo's stance on mergers and acquisitions, misconceptions about the Wii hardware and more.
According to the Official English transcript on Nintendo's investor relations page, Iwata said that he feels it's Nintendo's responsibility to set the tone on its new platforms, and then third parties should follow. "With the unprecedented challenges our new platforms have, creating launch momentum was critical for both Wii and DS, and I believe it was Nintendo's internal developers' jobs to make that happen. Once our own developers start the momentum, the third-party software makers will expand the applicable software lineup. In my mind, this is the basic structure of how it should be," he said. "Frankly speaking, Wii unfortunately did not receive as much positive anticipation as we had hoped it would before the launch. Accordingly, Nintendo had to rely upon its first-party titles to create the momentum."

I'm sure not all of you share my excitement for Taiko Drum Master for the DS, but it's been a long time since there was a DS game made just for me. The kind of game that no one else in my household will pick and drain my DS battery with.
Now, Namco Bandai have announced that the game will support four players (fantastic for a foreign girl with childish friends). Plus one cartridge can support all the players on DS Download play, so I guess there'll be a DS drum circle every friday in Nieuwmarkt until I get bored of the game (WHICH WILL BE NEVER).

What happens when a butt load of Final Fantasy games start coming out of the Square-Enix hole? Fans want more, even if they are remakes. In a recent interview with CVG, producer Hiromichi Tanaka mostly talked about the remake of Final Fantasy III for the DS, but also revealed what may be sad news for some who wanted this trend to continue:
(CVG): A lot of people are asking whether Final Fantasy VII will ever be available on DS?
Tanaka: The main thing is the timing. If we have time it is possible to do a remake of an original game but because we are at the time where the machines are changing with Wii, 360 and PS3 coming out, the development team tends to work on these games so that's the way things are going at the moment. This is the 20th anniversary of Final Fantasy III.
Everyone better hope that Square Enix has a very strict vacation policy or more of these puppies aren't going to be coming out.

Impossible Mission will be the first non Virtual Console title to be downloadable from the Wii Shop Channel.
Confirmation came from the pages of the official Nintendo Power magazine, backed up by Nintendo UK.
The remake of the classic Commodore 64 game was announced earlier this year. System 3 will be re-writing the game for today's technology, but will include a retro mode if you wish to lose yourself in gaming's glorious past.
The aim of Impossible Mission is to explore an evil professor's stronghold and put an end to his tampering with national computers. You'll have to race against the clock to search for pieces of a password to gain access to his inner-chambers, whilst avoiding deadly robots and collecting various power-ups.
It's also due out on PS2, PSP, and DS and is expected this summer.

We can't say this new DS mod quite gets our hearts racing like the Zelda Wii mod did a couple of months ago, but perhaps that's just because the Phantom Hourglass hasn't hit the DS yet, while Twilight Princess has been epic-ing it up on the Wii since day one. All the same, this new one from Morpheon Mods features a fancy "Zelda gold" paint job, along with a metal sword and shield backlit by a white LED -- hardly pocketable, but sure is fun to look at. The mod is on sale on eBay now, and 15% of the proceeds go towards the Child's Play charity.

Keen to keep the smoking PR train on track Rockstar Games has unleashed a fresh batch of Manhunt 2 shots, which should easily fill your gore quota for the morning.
It looks quite good then, but if you're wondering how it actually plays you should stick your eyes on our recent eyes-on preview, which should help explain how the face stabbing carnage plays out this time around.
Manhunt 2 is out on PS2, PSP and Wii this summer.

Last week we reported that the first Wii gun controller had been made available, and now third-party peripheral manufacturer, Core Gamers, has unveiled its offering: the Wii Blaster. But how useful are they?
The current selection of shooting games on Wii - Red Steel, Call of Duty, Far Cry - not only use the Wii Remote as a gun but also make use of buttons that would appear not to be reachable when using these gun adaptors.
Nintendo told CVG: "A peripheral is only as useful as the software it's supporting," and apart from the simple shooting game in Wii Play, there doesn't seem to be anything else these gun controllers would work well with.
Nintendo unveiled its own Wii Blaster at E3 last year and hasn't since mentioned it. Is it being held back until there's software for it?
"What was showed was a prototype," said Nintendo. "We're not announcing any further details at this time."
