press release:
Eidos Interactive, one of the world’s leading publishers and developers of entertainment software, is pleased to announce NERVOUS BRICKDOWN, an incredibly fun and highly addictive new puzzle game designed exclusively for the Nintendo DS platform.
NERVOUS BRICKDOWN is the very first bat-and-ball game designed especially for the Nintendo DS. It features eye-catching graphics and takes full advantage of the DS’ dual screens, stylus, microphone and Wi-Fi capability. The game takes the classic bat-and-ball gameplay and turns it on its head by taking it to other retro-game worlds, such as old school shoot-em ups and crazy golf! Do everything from drawing your own bat, saving the drowning people and blowing away the ghosts, all before facing increasingly outrageous end of level baddies – as all classic games should have.
Developed by Arkedo Studios, NERVOUS BRICKDOWN breathes new life into the bat-and-ball genre, featuring 135 challenging levels, a unique visual style and a fantastic soundtrack. Play on your own or with a friend via Wi-Fi mode.

Ok I lied... 1.5 wasn't the last release, I have made a v1.6 and I am sure this is not the last release. This version adds on DS DLDI patching, and a better, cleaner GUI made by Axel. GBA Booting is still being worked on. There are some problems with the PersonalData struct in libnds, which is preventing me from reading which screen the user has set as GBA. I kniw this is a minor release but the one with GBA booting will probably be the last...
Enjoy!

*Added support for the SG1000 games Mahjong and Home Mahjong.
*Added support RAM on some SG1000 games (The Castle, Othello...).

Nintendo of America Inc. plans to move about 80 people, in three divisions, off its Redmond campus to either New York or San Francisco, a Redmond city official said Tuesday afternoon.
The game maker plans to move its sales, marketing and advertising divisions away from its campus at 4820 150th Ave. N.E. in Redmond, said Jim Roberts, deputy planning director for the city of Redmond.
He said Nintendo real estate executive Bruce Meyer confirmed the moves, adding that Meyer said the company plans to keep its corporate headquarters in Redmond.
Rumors of Nintendo's plans to move some or all of its employees out of Redmond have been appearing for four days on several gaming Web sites and blogs.
Nintendo owns about 8 million square feet in several buildings on the west side of state Route 520, adjacent to numerous Microsoft Corp. buildings. In March 2005 it had 756 employees on the Redmond campus.

Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto has told Entertainment Weekly that Nintendo was disappointed with the results outsourced development on newer Namco and Sega produced Starfox and F-Zero games, saying that the titles failed to live up to expectations.
"In the past we've worked with some outside development houses on titles like F-Zero and Starfox — and let me just say that we were disappointed with the results. Consumers got very excited about the idea of those games, but the games themselves did not deliver."
His comments came during an interview which reiterated many of the points he delivered to the industry during his GDC keynote in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, urging developers to follow their instincts and the reactions to players when making games.
When asked about the risk-averse attitudes of American games publishers, he answered: "With rising budgets, I understand why game companies have a great deal of concern if they don't design games in this way. But you need to create what you want to create! In that sense, I would really like to see people develop games like I do. When I show a game to people I don't ask their opinion or give them a survey. I just watch their eyes and their face while they play. Do they smile? Do they look frustrated? So I guess I do test my games — but it isn't very scientific."
He added: "I could make Halo. It's not that I couldn't design that game. It's just that I choose not to. One thing about my game design is that I never try to look for what people want and then try to make that game design. I always try to create new experiences that are fun to play."

I don't know if anyone wants this, I made it to make setting up emulators easier (I can never think of a good keyboard layout) and testing buttons on a real nds.

Bob Fossil has updated his Word game:
heres whats new:
- Fixed text on the objective screen for Time Attack B.
- Fixed spurious inputting of a space in easy difficulty.
- In Time Attack A, if there are multiple longest words, you only have to find one of these to unlock the next level.
I'm using 2of4brif.txt as my word list from the 12dicts package. I'm only using the 3 to 8 letter words from this list so I've got around 33,000 words.
Again, if people want to play around with the words lists from 12dicts or another source to make a better or more comprehensive word list, then by all means go ahead. If people want to inspect the word list, then PM me and I'll send you a copy.

Well, if you weren't quite convinced that Final Fantasy III DS was worth getting excited over, then try this on for size: rumor has it that the same team has taken on an update of Final Fantasy IV -- one of three Final Fantasy titles heralded as a contender for the title of best game ever.
Whereas the original FFIII was passed over for a U.S. release and featured, prior to update, a nameless band of warriors, the next entry in the series originated many of the qualities that turned the franchise into a global powerhouse. The game debuted the Active Time Battle system and featured an epic storyline that's still held dear in the hearts of RPG gamers everywhere. It's been remade several times -- most recently (and we mean recently) for the GBA -- but a remake using the FFIII engine could give the game new life and improve the only thing that needs to be improved, which is the graphics.
If this is true (and it wouldn't surprise us), we'll most likely hear confirmation on it soon, since the Square Enix Party is this weekend in Japan. According to the rumor, the game is nearly finished as well, so if it's coming, we won't have long to wait.

Elite Beat Agents was for all intents and purposes a sequel to Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan -- new songs, vastly upgraded features, etc. And Ouendan fans in Japan are so crazy about the game that they're snapping up copies of EBA, even though it was produced for the US market. There are a couple stores in Tokyo that sell import games, but EBA is a special case -- it's being carried by most of the major retailers, none of whom actually carry American games. That they are all making an exception for EBA really says something. Even a tiny little family-run shop that I visit had EBA.
Oddly, even though prices vary a lot from store to store in Akihabara, Elite Beat Agents was exactly 4980 yen everywhere. I wonder where these stores are getting the game?

Some fresh screens for Brothers in Arms have emerged from the trenches, dirty and tired from battling evil dictators abroad, but now they may finally rest. They're home in the loving eyes of fanboys alike. And, these screens offer some more variety than the previous ones on offer, allowing us to get a peek at different aspects of play, which makes us more excited for the title than when it was first announced.

There is a listing for an unannounced Wii game called Carnival Games over at Gamefly. When I heard of the title I thought it could be a collection of mini games like throwing darts at balloons, shooting moving ducks and ring toss. The publisher of Carnival Games is Globalstar Software, a budget publishing arm of Take Two Interactive, which suggests Carnival Games might be a released at a discount price.

Our friend Falfelkid is at it again with another rumor. He seems to have been spurred on by the Soul Calibur rumor we talked about last week. Here’s what Falafelkid had to say…
Expect Rockstar´s ´Table Tennis´ to come out on the Wii. I have been told that it is likely to be the first Rockstar title heading to Wii.
First Rockstar title coming to the Wii. That might be a really tight squeeze considering that Manhunt 2 is slated for sometime this summer (GameStop says Aug 1st). I would think that news of the title would have come out by now. This has been a long standing Wii rumor, and now it’s come back from the dead. Thanks to BASILHS & Cheswick for the heads up!
