This project dedicated to bring you, Glide64 users, various advanced texture enhancements. The author of GlideHQ is famous Hiroshi ‘KoolSmoky’ Morii, well known as an author of 3dfx drivers and tools. I also must thank Rice for his indirect help – most of texture enhancement algorithms were taken from RiceVideo sources.
GlideHQ is a separate optional module. That is, Glide64 can work without it, if you don’t need texture enhancements. GlideHQ can apply various filters (smooth, sharp), enhancements (X2SAI, HQ4X etc) and compressions to input texture. Resulted texture is used instead of the original one.
To install and test GlideHQ, download GideHQ distributive and unpack it into Plugin folder. In Glide64 configuration dialog, open “Texture enhancement” tab and select options you like.
Current version is a prototype, based on Glide64 “WonderPlus”. That is, for end-users this is Glide64 “WonderPlus” with texture enhancements. Since it is a prototype, it can be buggy, slow, inconvenient and so on. Thus, we need your feedback to make it better.
GlideHQ 0.4:
I've restricted memory cache to 128Mbytes. It will grow till it reaches 128mb and swap out old texture cache. The memory cache will be dumped to disk when you stop emulation and loaded when started. A "*.dat" file will be created for each game under .Plugincache. For now they will be saved uncompressed.
GlideHQ 0.3:
I've added memory cache to cache filtered textures. Once a texture is filtered it will stay in the cache and be used until you exit emulation. For now only memory cache. In the Glide64 configuration dialog, open “Texture enhancement” and tick "Cache texture to system memory".

Ubisoft plans to release it's top looking sneak-'em-up on DS according to the latest release schedule from Nintendo. US online retailers first mentioned the game in their listings back in June, but it all looks set to happen now.
Quite how it's going to work, we don't know. Top down? Third-person? Will it look as good as the 360 version? No, but it looks like Ubisoft's keeping up hanging on for screens.
The DS version is coming out in February next year, says Nintendo.

LucasArts will be showing off its Wii lightsaber implementation in the UK this month for the first time ever.
It will be demonstrated by Jonathan Smith from Traveller's Tales, who will be swishing around his arms and making funny noises as he plays LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga.
His presentation will form the first part of the Star Wars day at GameCity 2007 in Nottingham, otherwise known as 26th October.
Following his talk will be chit-chat about what makes a really good Star Wars game, lead by some woman from Wonderland and a chap who likes comics with aliens in.
After that, you will be treated to a run-down of the Euphoria engine that LucasArts is using its new Indiana Jones and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed games. You've probably heard about this before: the one that boasts advanced AI routines and rag-doll physics to ensure no two punches will land in the same way on an opponent.
GameCity runs from 24th - 28th October, and has attracted big name speakers such as Katamari Damacy creator Keita Takahashi, who will be delivering a keynote address and showing his new game Nobi Nobi Boy.
We will be there, and you can be, too; just pop over to the GameCity 2007 site and snaffle up your very own ticket.
But we are warning you: we will fight you if you try and get in our way when we make a rush for the lightsaber.

After the initial, slightly baffling, product listing the first screens of Wii Zapper pack-in game Link's Crossbow Training have emerged - and it doesn't look half bad!
Essentially it's just a (free) shooting mini-game, but these shots half reminded us just how fantastic Twlight Princess looked. Maybe it's time for a revisit...
The Zapper is dated in North America for November 19 for the extremely reasonable price of $20 (£10).
There are no European release details yet, but we dare say it won't be quite as cheap as the weak dollar has us believe.

Nintendo has popped two more oldies on the Virtual Console, lead by Super Metroid for the SNES.
This old side-scrolling shooter will set you back 800 points (GBP 5.60 / EUR 8) and take you back to one of the best games of Nintendo's past. It comes highly recommended, with many observers reckoning it to be the best instalment in the Metroid series.
The idea is to guide the lovely Samus through alien-infested levels towards a final encounter with the Mother Brain, collecting power-ups to help you access previously unreachable areas and upgrade up the rays coming from your gun-hand.
NES shooter Probotector II: Return of the Evil Forces is the other game on offer, otherwise known as Super Contra and Super C. Here you play as muscular chaps with Rambo bits of cloth around their heads, and have to shoot orange blobs out of your guns at baddies. Doing so will set you back 500 points (GBP 3.50 / EUR 5).
If you are a little unsure whether you should fork out for the games, just wait a couple of days for a weekly round-up of the releases.

Hardware still selling well enough to justify full price
Nintendo has stated that it has no plans to introduce a price cut for the Wii in the US, and that it will remain at its USD 249 price point for the foreseeable future.
That's according to outgoing senior vice president of marketing for Nintendo of America, George Harrison, in an interview with Reuters.
"We'll stay at USD 249 for the foreseeable future. We are still selling everything we can make."
The statement comes shortly after Sony announced a price drop for its flagship console, the PlayStation 3, and couple of months after Microsoft's movement on the Xbox 360.
But Nintendo isn't under the same kind of pressure, as the Wii targets a different demographic, was the cheapest of the next-generation consoles to begin with, and consumers seem likely to face another hardware shortage in the run-up to Christmas this year - meaning that demand is still high.

Ars Technica notes, from Nintendo's Fall conference earlier this week, the news that Mario Kart for the Wii is slated for Spring of next year. The game is said to involve bikes for the first time:
"It is unclear whether the bikes will be mostly an aesthetic effect or if the control mechanics will differ between karts and bikes. Mario Kart: Double Dash featured a collection of different carts with different statistics, but control was more or less the same across the board ... Despite accusations that Nintendo had nothing to offer the hardcore gamer in terms of announcements at the show, the latest incarnation of the classic kart-racing series was looking sharp in its debut."

LibOGC is a development library for use with the DevKitPro (specifically DetKitPPC) toolchain allowing you to create your own GameCube and Nintendo Wii compatible applications. It's primary author Shagkur moved it away for it's SoureForge SVN when SoftDev started working on it. The official version has resided on it's new homepage for some time now as the SourceForge page has been not updated since early January of this year.
There seems to be some confusion over the validity of the official project. This is due to a programmer who hasn't contributed to the project for almost a year who strongly disagrees on LibOGC being moved off of it's SoureForge SVN, but at the same time is used by many developers as the SVN version is older, more prone to bugs as hasn't been updated in some time.
Not only has the official version been moved by it's primary author to TehWii, but many examples including wav, mp3, ogg support, texture examples and SD card fixes have been released for developers to use in their own homebrew applications. In addition to third party examples the main core of LibOGC has been updated with various fixes and a lot of libraries released to help developers make use of more features and hardware.
You can obtain LibOGC from it's official homepage listed below along with the examples and libraries I mentioned.

Wii and Nintendo DS continue to appeal to every kind of consumer. As Nintendo's list of upcoming games demonstrates, Nintendo has a game or experience for everyone, no matter their taste, age or video game playing acumen. Wii games like Super Mario Galaxy(TM) anchor Nintendo's lineup for the holidays, as Wii adds games faster than any other system in this generation. For Nintendo DS, Flash Focus(TM): Vision Training in Minutes a Day and Master of Illusion(TM) again will make people think of video gaming in a whole new way.
"Because of Wii and Nintendo DS momentum, third-party publishers are
supporting our systems like never before," says George Harrison, Nintendo of America's senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications. "Their lineup of diverse games is testament to how we make the population of gamers a little bigger every day."
Major publishers worldwide are making games for Wii and Nintendo DS.
Shoppers will find dozens of options through the holiday shopping season and into 2008. By the end of 2007, the library of Wii games is expected to grow to 140, not counting nearly 200 downloadable Virtual Console(TM) titles, while the Nintendo DS library should be nearly 450. The following is a partial list of the upcoming games for Wii and Nintendo DS. Note that game titles and launch dates are subject to change.

News/release from Kitsuta:
We've finally got our third demo finished. The basic gameplay mechanics are near complete now, but this demo includes neither our combat nor our dialogue systems. Nor do we have final graphics, or very many animations... Mostly because we still have that issue with loading backgrounds from FAT and so memory is pretty tight. Those will come later on.
Game Information
The big new addition since our last demo is the inventory system, complete with a working quick slot, that allows you to try to apply any item in your inventory to anywhere on the screen in, hopefully, an easy and efficient manner. The demo, is mostly designed around those additions, so includes quite a few puzzles to solve with items. In addition, we have multiple language support, showcased by a halfway done Spanish translation written by the game writer. (: One other thing different about this demo is the fact that it is set on a spaceship. Don't be fooled; Lights of Myndell is still going to be a fantasy game. I just felt like a bit of variety. Plus it's easier to draw sci-fi. Finally, there's an annotatable map - but no way to erase annotations yet as it was a last minute addition.
Enjoy the demo and please let us know what you think, or if you spot any bugs. Be sure to visit our website for further updates and other content.
Controls
Up arrow - "Use" mode
Left arrow - "Walk" mode
Right arrow - "Look" mode
Down arrow - "Quick Slot" mode; apply an item in your quick slot to something on screen
Double tapping an item in your Inventory - Place an item into your quick slot.
L button - Brings down Inventory screen
R button - Switches to Map screen
The ds.gba file has been tested and runs on NO$GBA
The .nds file has been tested and runs on hardware.
