News/release from OutofRange
I ran into a couple of problems this week that practically halted development of the game, since you couldn’t play the game because of them, and thus needed to be sorted out. Thankfully, they are now history, and I have been able to progress with the development. The biggest step forwards has been the start of the story mode, which features a character creation screen, where you can roll to try and improve your stats, change the hero’s name, and (in the future) choose a class for your hero. Currently, there are only five levels, and they still need a little work, but they do show the game working, and how it will look in the finished version. However, there are still a number of things I have planned that remain to be added, such as;
# I’m aiming for about 50 levels.
# Every ten levels, you get a “camping” screen, where you can (hopefully) save and purchase items from the shop.
# Adding the storyline, so you know why you’re there…
# Extra dungeon items, such as teleporters, to add some puzzle elements
# Greater variety of weapons and armour for each class.
# Better AI (as it’s just placeholder AI at the moment)
For two weeks development, I’m somewhat happy with how it’s turned out so far, especially due to some of the bugs I’ve had. It’s not the most complex game in the history of the world, but hopefully, with the features I have planned, I’ll increase my knowledge of c++, especially since I had practically none prior to starting this game.
I have just d/led the latest version of no$gba, and the buttons on the title screen don’t show at first … but they appear if you click the screen… don’t know what that’s about, will look into it -.-

News/release from Rainbow
The first version of my brewer of dice is now available for remote loadings! You have to only click here to download the file.
How that functions:
- Choose the type of die which you want to brew or enter a number of facets personalized
- Select the number of dice to be brewed
- Determine the modifier with the need
- Click on the button respective “Roll” according to your choice of die
It is as simple as that!
I launched it in beta because I want to still add some tricks, in particular sound effects, and I wanted that it passes the test user before obtaining the final mention.
If you find a bug, you can answer here, by private message, or to even to send email me, but there should not be problem.

Hi, I am a moderator of the Italian ConsoleTribe forum. I am in charge of spreading the following piece of news. I am posting it here, too, hoping it will be useful for someone.
A new developer of the Wii scene, under the nickname of Arep, has given me the task of publishing his first creation: it's FriiDump, a RawDump clone released under the GPL, which means that the program comes with its complete source code. As such, this will finally make users of non-Windows operating systems happy, as they will finally be able to make backups of their precious GameCube and Wii discs!
Although, the program only supports Windows and GNU/Linux so far, the availability of source code make the program easily extensible by everybody.
Program highlights include the immediate calculation of MD5 and other hash codes of the generated ISO and the display of a lot of useful disc information.
The only drawback is that FriiDump is a bit slower at dumping than RawDump: it takes about 3.5 hours for a Wii dump, and about 1 hour for a GameCube one. Also, the compatible drives are the same as RawDump, even though it is certainly easier to add support for a new drive if the source code is public.
The author decided not to give direct support for his program, in order to avoid legal problems, but he says that users can use the forums at the Italian Wii Tribe site (http://wii.console-tribe.com) to help each other and report problems, even though he will not be participating at any discussions.
Here is a screenshot of the program running under GNU/Linux, courtesy of dudo85:
Download links are below. Binaries are available for Windows users, either in ZIP or installer format, while users of other operating systems can use the source code and compile it themselves.

TehSkeen is proud to present to you a new modification for the Nintendo GameCube. Codenamed "DVD Emulator v1.1" this small board housing a MicroSD slot replaces the proprietary DVD-ROM assembly and allows you to make use of the storage space and speed supported by the latest generation of SDHC cards.
If you're a hardcore GameCube modder, a developer, Linux guru or just looking for a cheap entertainment center this "no solder" solution should be perfect for you. Note this is a work in progress design and will most likely change in appearance and functionality before it's final release.
Initial Features
* Plug n' Play (No Soldering Required)
* MicroSD / Transflash (SDHC) Support
* Up to 32 Gigabytes of Removable Storage
* Load DOL/ELF Files Directly
* Boot GameCube Backups Directly
* Boot Legacy MultiGame Images Directly
* Includes Custom Operating System
What are your initial thoughts and impressions? Would you be interested in purchasing one of these if the price is right? What's the right price? How about winning one or more in a contest?

The highly talented King of Kong director Seth Gordon wants to make the Super Paper Mario movie. I mean, no one's asking him to make it, but he wants to make it. The guy is totally ready. Anytime.
I'd love, really love, to adapt Super Paper Mario into a movie, a movie that would constantly switch from 2D to 3D. In five years, 3D cinema is going to be really big...(KoK) was screened for Nintendo, but I haven't had the chance to speak to anyone over there about it. But I definitely want to have that conversation.
Please, please please...make something inspired by the game into a movie. But don't put Mario on the big screen again. Especially in the case of SPM, it's just not meant to be and my heart can't take it. Thoughts?

We've seen products make their first appearance in the form of a UPC filing before, and it looks like Nintendo may now be following the trend, with a recent filing of its revealing what looks to be an awful lot like a new Wii SKU.
According to Codename Revolution's "distributor contact," the mystery product is described only as the "New Pack," and it apparently boasts a $289.99 Canadian retail price (which is the same as the current Wii SKU). While the UPC database unfortunately doesn't have any other details, speculation on the internets points to either a new bundle (possibly including the Wii Zapper or another game) or a new color, a rumor we've seen come and go in the past.
Whatever it is, it seems safe to bet that it'll hit store shelves just in time for the holiday season.

This week we say hello to the NeoGeo on the Virtual Console, which brings with it classic beat-'em-up Fatal Fury.
There you'll hop into constricting jeans of Andy Bogard, Terry Bogard or Joe Higashi, before travelling to the mean streets of South Town to do some fist-themed cleaning. Yours for 900 points (GBP 6.75 / EUR 9).
Everywhere else you look is SEGA, slopping out all sorts of stuff from the Mega Drive days.
There's Axel, Skate and Blaze lining up for more fighting in Streets of Rage 3, or the leopard-print pants of Barbarian and pals in Golden Axe III.
You can also take to the skies in a fancy helicopter for some scrolling shooting in Super Thunder Blade, or turn into an Elf and search for riches in Landstalker: Treasures of King Nole.
These will all cost you 800 points (GBP 6 / EUR 8), and everything you see here will be individually picked to pieces in our weekly Virtual Console round-up. So if you are not sure, then hold fire for just a little while longer.

Epic Games has no plans to work on middleware or graphics engines for the Nintendo Wii, according to vice president Mark Rein.
Speaking in a GameTrailers interview, he confirmed that the company's focus would remain with the consoles that could generate the serious visuals.
"I think the problem is that it's not in our wheelhouse. I mean, what we're doing is the really high-end, next-generation visuals. We're pushing these [Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3] machines pretty hard."
"I just think that we have too many things on our plate to go back and put resources in that kind of situation."
Rein went on to point out that the money is really in working on the Sony and Microsoft platforms, and that working directly with Nintendo would be the only viable course of action for the Wii.
"I don't think there's a lot of money on making engines for the Wii…because the big software dollars right now are being earned on Xbox 360 and they're going to be earned on PlayStation 3, and I think unless you're going to sell your engine to Nintendo, you're going for scraps on that platform."
Epic Games is the developer of Gears of War and Unreal Tournament 3, and sells its Unreal engine to numerous other developers for use in other games.

In a "color us unsurprised" move, Majesco has revealed that it has scored the publishing rights to Shin'en's Nanostray 2, the sequel to the developer's original Nintendo DS shooter that Majesco published back in 2005. Which, essentially, was a spiritual successor to Iridion II, a Game Boy Advance game that Majesco also published. Which, obviously, was a sequel to the GBA's launch title Iridion 3D -- again, a game published by Majesco back in 2001.
Nanostray 2 will feature six modes of top-down shooting action in over-the-top, energetic 3D environments. The game will contain more than 30 levels of single and two-player action. The internet ranking feature that was originally planned for the original Nanostray -- scrapped in favor of a password system -- will make a return in Nanostray 2 using the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service.
Majesco will release Nanostray in early 2008
