From www.devkitpro.org :
Upgraded to gcc 4.1.2
Added gdb by popular request
Now including libraries for ARM big-endian devices - this relates to a request from the winARM maintainers, not DS related.
Newlib patches extended to allow time() to work on the DS
argv has been added - this will require support from the homebrew launcher menu on various cards
ndstool now uses the default arm7 core distributed with libnds in preference to an embedded one
Now working on Vista/Vista64 - users who were impatient and modified paths should now remove those changes
devkitARM release 21
devkitARM release 21 requires libnds 20071023 - the argv and time additions have part of the implementation in libnds. The latest DS crt0 also calls extra startup code not present in earlier libnds versions.
some freeBSD fixes to makefiles
added RTC setup and sound initialisation to arm7 core
corrected glViewport for openGL consistency ( old spelling was glViewPort) , correct angle for gluPerspective and corrected glFrustum matrix
IRQ nesting now works properly
other more general fixes detailed in the changelog on SF
DS examples updated for latest libnds
libnds 20071023
nds examples 20071023
All files are now available through the automatic installer/updater.

The Moon Books Project is proud to present yet another horror movie, for viewing on your Nintendo DS.
The Moon Books Project feels the only safe way to make this film available is to quote the studio's warning, and offer from the beginning of the film itself.
"The Screaming Skull is a motion picture that reaches its climax in shocking horror. Its impact is so terrifying that it may have an unforeseen effect. It may kill you! therefore the producers feel it necessery to provide free burial services to anyone who dies of fright, while seeing the screaming skull!"

The latest issue of Future’s Edge magazine has the scoop on the confirmation that the upcoming Wii iteration of popular franchise Animal Crossing is to be a fully-blown massively multiplayer online experience, CVG reports.
The mag reads: "A Japanese source has confirmed to Edge that the upcoming Wii iteration of Animal Crossing is set to be a social networking MMO."
Animal Crossing has always been a socially-driven game. The GameCube iteration relied on the use of codes for players to exchange information and gifts, whilst the DS sequel went one stage further by allowing wi-fi users a more direct form of contact.
Though no official confirmation has yet been made, the MMO game structure is a logical progression for the series and one that could see it achieve even greater heights than its predecessors.

Nintendo of America's outgoing vice president of marketing says that the company is "starting to look at the annual calendar differently" in terms of release date timing, rather than just stuffing everything in Q4.
Speaking to MTV Multiplayer, Perrin Kaplan reacted to a question about Smash Bros. Brawl's proposed release date - Sunday, February 10 - by saying, "Why not?"
"Sunday is actually a really good launch day of the week for products. And I think we're actually starting to look at the annual calendar differently.
"The first two quarters of the year tend to be more quiet. But now we've seen some evidence of sales in that period.
"Other than the holiday quarter, I think the traditional way of viewing it is not necessarily a slam dunk. I think a really good product can be a slam dunk any time of the year."
Asked to explain the change, Kaplan suggested that it was down to the Wii and DS systems' ability to act as "a quick hit of entertainment", whereas traditional system which might be more suitable when "kids and families can spend more time playing or during holidays".

According to Matt from IGN, Medal of Honor Heroes 2 officially beats the pants off Metroid Prime 3 in terms of its FPS control. He states that MoHH 2 is the new benchmark and he'll put up a video showing just how 'beautiful' the controls are soon.
On another note, I just want to put it out there: Medal of Honor Heroes 2 officially beats the pants off Metroid Prime 3 in the FPS control department. This is the new Wii benchmark, period. Not even close. Seriously. Wait until you get a load of how beautiful the controls are -- I'll have a video for you in the near future.
I chatted with Perrin, who leaves NOA in December, about a number of topics recently, too. I'll post up some comments from our chat this week. I don't think she really commented too much about anything we didn't already know, but even so, you can't help but read it. Don't lie -- you will.

A Spanish website has revealed a new way to modify your Nintendo Wii. No more soldering. It is basically an adapter that attaches to the Wii chipset and allows you to use any modchip of your choice such as:- Wiinja
- Wiimod
- Wiiskas
- OpenWii
- Wiifree
- CycloWiz
- WiiKey
- WiiD
Wlip is an adapter that has been designed especially to install any Modchip in your Wii in a faster and easy way and without damage for your console, because there is no need for welding.
You can install it yourself without any technical procedure in a few minutes. The Wlip adapter is the answer for the demand of thousands of users who want to install a Modchip in their console but they just don’t trust in a complex procedure which may damage their Wii, or even drill your console for new Wiis version (with cut legs), loosing your guarantee.
In Installation Section we teach in a few simply steps, how to place the adapter Wlip in your console. And to show you up how simply it is, there is a video in the demonstration section where the Wlip is installed in 10 minutes.
You won’t only save time, you will also save money because Wlip is sold for only 24.95 € (the Modchip is not included) For all those advantages, Wlip has risen as the ideal way of installing your Modchip for Wii. Don’t be deceived. It is the best solderless installation.
The English version of the site is not currently up. We'll have more information when it is available.
The website also has a video of the installation process which takes probably less than 10 seconds to install. All of your time is spent disassembling your Wii.

Wasabi is the name of a new chip for D2C... featuring 5 wires to be soldered on easy solder pads !
D2Ckey works by patching the requests that the DVD MCU issues to the DVD DSP in hardware. This is something that was done before by Team Origa on GC (project GCC) but it was never released because it was too hard to install and less flexible in comparison to BIOS-chips / drive-chips. The whole address bus, data bus and control signals must be hooked, so that means lots of wires.
Other drive-chips on Wii / GC (the easy-to-install kind) work by patching those requests in software. That leads to easier installation diagrams, and much more flexibility, most of those chips are upgradable for example.
The problem is that to create an easy-to-install chip, one must be able to patch the DVD firmware. And to know how, you must be able to read the firmware ROM. If you can't read this ROM, the only choice is designing a 31-wire mod. Or to try harder.
We did ! We belive we've been the first team with access to the firmware, and now we're clearly the first team with a working prototyp e of an easy-to-install chip for D2C !
More details, including ETA, will be announced next week. In the meantime, instead of providing the usual picture of a prototype board with lots of wires, we provide a couple of interesting bits of disassembly that only true drive hackers could appreciate... If any other team claim they have access to the firmware, we say : show the code !

New from Play Asia:
description
Do you sometimes dream of being a vet doctor? With the game My Vet Practice this dream can come true. Build up your own practice, decide when to build which building and which patient to treat. Every day people come to you with their animals, guinea pigs, rabbits, budgerigars, cats, dogs and even horses. Sometimes it can even be necessary to accommodate the animals and take care of them for a couple of days, so that they get well and happy again quickly. Therefore you can build extra stables and accomodations. Feeding, playing with the pets, bear company, but also cleaning up and the daily treatment are your duties. For very demanding horse-patients, you can experience interesting things about horse whispering. But although the work with pets is a lot of fun, even the best vet doctor needs some time out. Then you take your own horse and go for a long ride at the beach, on meadows and fields or through the nearby forest. Stock up new energy to become the best vet doctor of all time.

via Computer and Video Games
FIFA 08 and PES 2008 have sorted the console lads out with their footy fix for the year, and here are the first shots of what Konami has knocked together on DS.
We're looking forward to seeing how it handles on the portable, especially after Pro Evo 6 didn't do too bad a job. But one thing's for sure, however: it's going to be a technical showcase for the DS by any stretch.
Look at the shot with the number 10 shirt taking a free-kick. There's some serious block-o-vision going on there, which is disappointing when put aside some of the gorgeous first-party 3D titles on the relatively low-powered machine.
But in the end, if the game runs smoothly and plays well, it'll be worth a punt despite the Lego visuals.
