More than two years after Top Gear Rally appeared on the GBA, developer Tantalus has announced that a new instalment in the series is currently in development for the Nintendo DS.
Top Gear: Downforce is a top-down racer with 3D models and "robust vehicle physics." More excitingly, you'll be able to place hazards on the track using the DS's touch screen, and take part in wireless multiplayer races.
"We loved the original Top Gear on N64, and of course our rally title on GBA was a big success," said Tantalus bigwig Tom Crago, who clearly didn't read our review.
"This time around we’re attempting something completely different. We want to create a racing game that feels perfectly at home on the DS platform, something built from the ground up to exploit the cool features of the hardware."
Top Gear: Downforce is slated for a late 2006 release, with more details set to be revealed at E3.

Many of you will know i used to have an Interview site with Great Interviews with Coders from many Homebrew Scenes.
Well with that in mind, im going to try something unique and whilst it may fail it is something that ive never seen done before and thats a mass interview of all the members and thats 40,000 + members , whats going to happen is that ill ask maybe 10- 12 questions, one a day over a 2 week period to see who we are and what we love about emulation and homebrew.
So to start the ball rolling (remember never give personal info out unless you feel safe doing so) ill ask a question and answer it myself then its over to you the members of the only Console Homebrew Network in the world.
Question #1 - Can you tell us about yourself, where you're from, and about your job, school, etc?
(yes easy one to start but it lets people know about you)
Well im the webmaster of a group of sites now totalling 18 (mad git), ive been a fan and more of emulation and homebrew since at least 1997.
I am from the city of Nottingham in the UK, famous for Robin Hood, Torvill and Dean and Nottingham Forest and sadly Gun Crime capital of the UK (it seems that way anyway).
Went to school at 2 sites in probably the roughest part of the city but on the whole enjoyed school but was glad to be rid of it .
For my job ive been a Gardener on an award winning park for nearon 18 years (i am 34 btw) and whilst i enjoy my job i cant see me doing it for years to come.
So thats my answers, feel free to join in this experiment of a mass interview on the DCEmu Network, answer via the comments.

Tamako Kondo says 10 minutes of exercise every morning keeps her fit.
But the 80-year-old doesn't hit the treadmill or take aerobics classes. Instead, she sits at a desk, pencil in hand, and tackles simple arithmetic and other quizzes, part of a "brain training" programme that has taken Japan by storm.
Bookshops now have separate sections for workbooks with the exercises and video game versions are selling like hot cakes among the growing ranks of older Japanese who hope the drills will reinvigorate their grey matter.
"I want to delay becoming senile as much as possible," said Kondo, who lives in a Tokyo home for the elderly. "I know someone who gets things that happened recently mixed up with tales from the war days. I don't want to become like that," added Kondo, after attending a weekly "Healthy Brain Class" course run by the Shinagawa ward in Tokyo. At the class, 30 students -- all over 70 -- perform the drills for half-an-hour once a week and are given more exercises to work on at home, every day for six months.
Scientists say a daily dose of such exercises improves the memory and even the condition of dementia patients. "I wanted to make a contribution to society through my findings, to tell the world that you can train the brain," said Ryuta Kawashima, professor of brain science at Tohoku University, whose theory has been featured in many books and video games. "But I didn't think it would become this big."
BRAIN TRAIN GAMES
For video game makers eager to expand their clientele beyond youths as the number of children dwindles in Japan's rapidly ageing society, software featuring Kawashima's brain-training programme has proved to be a huge success. Nintendo has sold a combined total of more than 3.3 million of its "Brain Training for Adults" released in May 2005 and a sequel that came out last December. Its portable DS consoles on which the games are played are constantly out of stock in shops.
"We see people who may have been to our store, but probably never to the video game section, come and buy them," said a sales clerk at the game section of a major electronics shop in Tokyo. Nintendo also said about a third of those who bought the games were 35 or older. "We wanted to reach out to those who were not interested in video games ... But we did not expect such success," said Ken Toyoda, a Nintendo spokesman.
"We were able to ride the 'brain craze'."
Rival Sony Computer Entertainment, which has the "Brain Trainer" using Kawashima's theory for its PlayStation Portable console, is holding "Video Game Workshops for Grown-ups", in a bid to appeal to older generations. At one workshop on a Saturday afternoon, 15 participants, aged between 30 and 63, listened intently as a 63-year-old instructor took them step-by-step through how to play games, including the "Brain Trainer", on the PSP. Sachiko Kumagai, who had come to check out the brain-training game, was impressed after the 90-minute class.
"My forgetfulness really got bad after I turned 50 ... With this, you can see the results right away, so it's handy," said the 55-year-old who works for a local government office. The players are given grades on their performance on the PSP game, while on the Nintendo version, they are given their "brain age", ranging from the optimal 20 to 80, the worst.
ELEVATE INNER SELF
Other toys and puzzles seen as stimulating the brain have also benefited from the boom.
Sales of Rubik's cube, the famous cube-shaped puzzle, increased by fivefold last year in Japan to around 500,000. "The brain-training phenomenon has had an effect ... We purposely put 'IQ' on the package so that it would appeal to grown-ups," said Kazuo Usui, a marketing official at Megahouse Corp, which sells the puzzles in Japan.
Those involved in the phenomenon agree that the interest in brain training comes from a desire to minimise the inevitable effects of ageing among Japan's greying population, but cited differing reasons for it becoming a national obsession.
Nearly one in five Japanese is aged 65 or older and the ratio is expected to rise to one in four over the next decade due to a rock-bottom birth rate and improved longevity.
Brain scientist Kawashima said people were fed up with materialism and were eager to seek other means of fulfilment.
"There is the issue of ageing society, but more than that, I think people want to train and elevate their inner self."
Nintendo's Toyoda said it was part of a health-conscience craze which has been around for years now. "Health consciousness is branching out ... It's a trend."

Success HK have in Stock the following new Gamecube Game:

Harvest Moon: Magical Melody is a farming simulation and adventure game. Choose to play as a girl or a boy and start life in a farming village with the goal of becoming an expert farm manager. Taking over your own farm, you raise plants and animals, catch lots of fish, build up your farm, and see your character grow into adulthood. The game features cows, horses and sheep, among other animals, but this time around, if you don't have a gate around their grazing area, they may get out from your farm area and, when night comes, get attacked by wild dogs. You also have added freedom with your planting, as you can now raise plants outside your own farm area. Once again, interacting with town folk and falling in love are major points of the game. Your choice of love interests changes depending on your choice of boy or girl at the start of the game. <br>
Because of the extra add-ins to the worldwide-edition of this Harvest Moon from the Japanese original (including more events to play in, more crops to tend, and more Harvest Moon gameplay), this edition was brought back to Japan as Harvest Moon: Poem of Happiness -- For World.

Source - GamesIndustry
Hirokazu Hamamura, CEO of Famitsu publisher Enterbrain, has declared that while 2005 was a good year for hardware sales in the Japanese market, there are likely to be tough times ahead.
Using the sales data Enterbrain collects for the Japanese market, the 2005 financial year, which runs from April 2004 to March 2005, was a very positive year for hardware unit sales, with a 23 per cent increase on the previous year that was pushed significantly by Nintendo DS and PSP sales.
Hamamura stated that the overall growth of the market had increased, with software sales reaching 660 million and increasing 8 per cent on the previous year. However, a generally lower price point for handheld titles, which have been the primary drivers for the market boost - the Nintendo DS accounting for seven of the ten best sellers for the year - has left the software market value relatively static at YEN 309 billion (EURO 2.1 billion).
The positive reflection on 2005 was soured a little by Hamamura's prediction for 2006, the CEO declaring that numerous publishers have rushed next-gen titles to market in an effort to beat what, until recently, was believed to be a May launch for the PS3. The Japanese market is, apparently, flooded with a surplus of rushed games that are stifling sales growth, which publishers are unlikely to recover from until autumn.

April 10th, 2006, 12:39 Posted By: wraggster
With the internet literally on fire at the moment over Ubisoft's controversial Red Steel shots, there's more juicy Revolution reports to chew on as George Harrison, senior vice president of marketing, corporate communications and possibly bogling at NoA, has revealed some of Nintendo's plans for the next-gen machine's launch later this year.
Speaking to Game Informer, and duly sloshed across the web like a drunk in a vodka hat, Harrison divulged that we can expect around twenty titles on the Revolution's launch day - a third of which will come from Nintendo itself. With Metroid Prime 3, Super Smash Bros. and a new IP from Shigeru Miyamoto all expected based on previous reports, the mind can only pirhouette over what else the company's got jammed up its sleeve.
Interestingly, Harrison also touched on what we can expect in the box when we pick up the Revolution - so far confirmed is the Rev wand itself and the much-discussed nunchuck expansion. Apparently, the inclusion of a second wand is also being considered by the company. On the subject of the console's retail price, Harrison exaplained, somewhat enigmatically, that "our goal is to come in at a slightly more mass market price [than the Xbox 360]", while software is expected to hit the 50-60 USD mark, bringing the games into line with current next-gen pricing on the 360.
Finally, it seems that Nintendo has learned its lesson over the GameCube's relatively lacklustre performance in the west: "We recognized [...] that you really make your reputation in the first year," Harrison explained. "You've got to deliver software, not just at launch, but you've got to deliver software in the first six to nine months after launch. It has to be solid software. In GameCube, we didn't have that, we had kind of a drought for six months after it launched. By that time your reputation starts to solidify and it's hard to reverse that after awhile."
With E3 - and the promise of actual, tangible Revolution news - mere weeks away now, we're already stocking up on rubber trousers in moist, sticky anticipation.
