doesn't take a genius to work out that we'll be seeing plenty of Revolution returns for Nintendo's biggest franchise characters when the next-gen system strikes later this year. Now, alongside confirmed new iterations of Mario and Zelda, it looks like we'll be seeing Donkey Kong making another console splash.
According to internet reports, the latest issue of Japanese mag Famitsu has confirmation from Shigeru Miyamoto himself, stating that the infamous monkey/ape thing is primed for unleashing on the Revolution.
It seems that development duties have been handed to the Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat team and that this time around the GameCube's bongo peripherals will be ditched in favour of a new control scheme, designed to make the most of the Revolution's unique features.
Whether this will be another platform/rhythm action title in the vein of Jungle Beat is currently unclear but, with the drumming potentional the Rev controller throws up, it wouldn't be a surprise if that's what we end up with.
More news on the game as and when it rolls out of the jungle - hopefully, we'll know more come E3 this May.

Success HK has posted this New Commercial DS Game, heres the info:

A new portable edition of the world's most renown puzzle game. Each of the DS version's six modes of play features a theme based on a classic Nintendo game, such as Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda or Metroid. The traditional Tetriminos (falling blocks) and line-clearing strategy remain the staples of the game, but the touch screen adds a new element of interactivity. Some modes give players special Tetris puzzles to solve. Others feature head-to-head action between two players, or massive wireless battles between 10 DS users, even if only one player has a game card. Players also can log onto Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection to compete in two- or four-player battles. Tetris DS even includes a point-based rating system based on players' battle results. Opponents can see one another's ratings, which indicate their skill levels.

We have many kinds of irritation in our lives. Never being able to find the nail clippers, raccoons smashing up our bins, the endless warring of mankind for the benefit of the rich. But none of these things compare to the endless fantasy rumourings of the Nintendo blogs that have sprung up like the most horrible weeds in recent months.
This being the case, you'd be forgiven for thinking that there have been hundreds of legitimate rumours surfacing of late. Virtual reality headsets, projector add-ons, endless games, launch dates, hardware revisions. All of it, the entirety of what you might have been unfortunate enough to read, is fantasy, the self-pollinating collective dream of a mass of bored and lonely teenagers with free blogger software and access to the Internet. We pride ourselves on covering rumours based on people in the know talking to ourselves or others in the industry. This kind of rumour has absolute grounding as with this week's Ridge Racer 7 news.
So with this in mind, we're pleased to inform you that this year's E3 looks set to show some interesting Revolution IP, the first being a new game from Shigeru Miyamoto. From what we can gather from our press colleagues, Pikmin Revolution is a cert, though its showing at E3 cannot be confirmed. Miyamoto will however, show the world a new game from his ever-fertile brain. We cannot elaborate on what Nintendo is going to reveal, simply because we - nor anyone we know involved with Nintendo - knows at this point. But keep an eye out for a big new game that will be playable at E3.
The next little gem we have is the belief amongst trusted Japanese press sources that Nintendo will reveal a new Kid Icarus game for Revolution at E3. We have no other details at time of going to press, other than several sources we have worked with on major Nintendo news in the past indicate to us that this classic NES platformer will be revived in a few weeks.
As ever, expect updates on these pages as soon as we get them.

It's tough to keep a good bloodsucker down, and apparently Dracula was the best, as the forces of evil are attempting yet another resurrection of their dark lord in Konami's Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin for the Nintendo DS. Perhaps Dracula will be put down for the count this time, because Portrait of Ruin features a pair of protagonists working together to put the kibosh on his nefarious plans.
Players will take control of vampire hunter Jonathan Morris and the magically adept Charlotte Orlean and will be allowed to switch freely between the two to match the needs of their current situations. Both characters will have powerful summon attacks and a variety of weapons and equipment at their disposal, but they will also have their own unique strengths and abilities. Konami is also promising more than 100 different enemies and bosses on which to try out all those weapons and abilities.
Portrait of Ruin is scheduled for release this fall. Chances are good that Konami will show the game off at the Electronic Entertainment Expo next month, but until then, interested gamers can brush up on the series' first DS outing with the full review for Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow.

April 24th, 2006, 16:40 Posted By: wraggster
Discussing the impending launch of the Revolution console, Nintendo of America's SVP marketing and corporate communications, George Harrison, stressed the importance of third party publisher support.
In a recent interview with US magazine Game Informer, Harrison talked about the lessons learned from GameCube, noting that a lack of broader support outside of the company's own titles was detrimental to the machine's success, and it's a mistake Nintendo aims to rectify with its next generation console.
"One of the lessons we tried to learn from GameCube was that we kept things too close. And so as we got ready to launch, we had some of our own great games but third parties were kind of behind the eight ball in terms of being able to have games ready," Harrison stated.
In terms of early support for the Revolution, which launches this year alongside Sony's PS3, third party software ought to be available in abundance, Harrison confirming "We've got more than 1,000 developer kits including the controller kits, out, so there should be plenty there."
Whilst Harrison refused to be drawn on the still-unconfirmed pricing strategy for the new machine, the company ethos of introducing "disruptive devices" into the market was echoed in the interview, as Harrison reflected on the current generation and mused on what's really important for generating success.
"I think that, oddly enough, when people talk about horsepower, sheer graphical processing and things, the system that had the least impressive technical specs, the PlayStation 2, became the huge winner in the last generation," Harrison commented.
"That told us that it wasn't always just about horsepower. One of the things that we did learn, and one of the reasons that we're here today is that you have to get third party involvement early and they have to be able to get access early."
Nintendo plans to unveil further details on the Revolution console, its online and digital content support, and a number of first party software titles at the forthcoming E3 expo in May. As the convention draws closer, and the launch of the console approaches, third party developers are also starting to voice their support, and a number of launch titles are expected to be announced, if not displayed at the show in May.

April 24th, 2006, 15:58 Posted By: wraggster
Activision has signed key actors up to its new X-Men film tie-in, which is due out on May 19th on a whole host of formats including Xbox 360.
Previously the games have had to make do with the authoritative tones of Patrick Stewart as Professor Xavier - something of a videogame regular - and stand-ins like good old Mark Hamill, but this time it'll be the real deal with Hugh Jackman handling Wolverine, Shawn Ashmore as Iceman and Alan Cumming speaking for Nightcrawler. All the characters have been modelled on the actors' appearance anyway.
Nightcrawler actually won't be appearing in X-Men: The Last Stand - the third film, due out at the end of May - but the game's supposed to take place prior to the events of that film, so perhaps it'll explain what happens to him - a theory supported by the involvement of screenwriter Zak Penn.
Speaking to the Hollywood Reporter, Penn said he was brought in "to sync up the film with the game" alongside co-writer Chris Claremont. "The game's based on the comic universe, which is different than the film world. I was charged with bringing the game characters into the reality of the movie," Penn told the Reporter.
X-Men: The Official Game is due out next month on PS2, Xbox, Cube, PC, X360, GBA and DS.

Datel's announced a pair of Nintendo DS peripherals capable of running homebrew software applications.
The MAX Media Launcher is designed specifically to do this, costs £12.99, and allows you to store homebrew data on a variety of compatible flash cards including M3 and NEO types.
The more expensive MAX Media Player, priced £129.99, goes further. It supports homebrew, but really as a footnote to extensive media playback - as well as viewing JPEGs through a built-in browser application, it will play back MP3 audio and even movies.
Both are due out in late April, available through retail and Codejunkies.com, and Datel says both are compatible with the new DS Lite as well as the old one.
MAX Media Player is a two-part peripheral - the player itself is a simple DS game card that goes in the DS game slot, allowing you to browse a 4GB hard disk that slots into the GBA cartridge slot and hugs the back of the unit as you can see in the photo. The hard disk will draw power directly from the DS.
MAX Media Player also includes a USB 2.0 cable allowing you to transfer data from your PC, as well as a Media Manager PC application for handling these transfers; Media Manager will also convert movies to a format the Player can understand and resize images to fit the DS screen.
Meanwhile, Datel's also got a third peripheral on the way. Called Communicator Headset, it effectively harnesses the microphone and speakers in a headset format, which Datel reckons will be more appropriate for comms in games like Metroid Prime: Hunters, which allows you to chat with other players in the game lobby. Communicator Headset will retail for £9.99.

While the West waits with baited breath for Nintendo's announcement regarding the release of its sexy new DS Lite, it seems that the company's primed and ready to unleash a new colour variation over in Japan. This time, joining the existing line-up of Crystal White, Enamel Navy and Ice Blue, a new black model appears to be on the cards.
It's all a bit of a mystery, this one though. The information, for want of a better word, comes courtesy of a scan from Japanese mag Famitsu, currently circulating around the net. It seems the scan originally went up on a Japanese blog, but thanks to our completely non-existant ability to read the language, we're not entirely sure what's going on in it.
Still, in amongst all the gumph on the page, there's no denying the sexy new black DS Lite languishing around like it owns the place. So, currently unannounced new model or prototype? We couldn't possibly say.
At this point in time, we're more interested in hearing when Europe can expect to get its hands on the glorious redesigned handheld. But, if you're listening Nintendo, we quite fancy one of those black ones too.

Showing some true 1up-manship, Jeremy Parish has updated his blog with tantalizing non-details about a secret, pre-E3 Nintendo DS press event. Like all of the attending journalists, Parish was allowed to experience some new DS titles ("pretty cool surprises") at the cost of having to keep his opinions bottled up until Nintendo yanks the cork out. Expect the yanking to occur as soon as E3 is upon us.
Parish does share one minor detail, though. There wasn't a single new Metroid game. If you had any dreams of playing a traditional, 2D Metroid game on the DS, consider them decisively stomped to teeny, unrecognizable smithereens. At least for now. It's not that I don't like Hunters--it's just that I tend to prefer exploring an intricate network of ancient ruins to repeatedly shooting menacing bounty hunters in the face. Chalk that up to a deranged childhood, if you want.

In its latest issue, Famitsu claims NiGHTS Into Dreams is being re-worked, ready for exclusive release for the Nintendo Revolution, meaning that we'll be able to smile for minutes at a time without the aid of benzodiazepines for the first time since 1996!
The mag made no mention of what we can expect, though twisting the Revmote through endless groups of rings while being hypnotised by the best game music ever is a tempting thought.
As you'll know, re-makes of NiGHTS have been the stuff of Internet legend for a decade, with rumours cropping up of a Sonic Team update on one platform or another every six months or so. Given Yuji Naka's open praise of Nintendo's direction of innovation over raw power, the DS and the Revolution have long been the frontrunners in the race to make Sega fans the world over stop bemoaning the downfall of the Dreamcast.
Famitsu's claim also seems to confirm Naka's long-touted departure from Sega, a development that - if it should prove to be true - has been smothered by the firm since it emerged some weeks ago. The rumour in Famitsu reads, “A Game creator who recently went solo is developing this. It's an action game featuring an evil-spirit that looks like a pierrot clown flying through the air is coming out for Revolution.” If that's not Yuji Naka setting up a new studio and re-making NiGHTS, we'll eat two hats.
As soon as we find out more, it will be published on these pages in minutes. Stay tuned.
And nobody mention 'dual-wielding' - it's probably for the best.

1up has an entertaining article visiting some Animal Crossing player towns, and commenting on what life is like in some far away places and personalities. From the article: "Friend No. 3 is a writer, which means that her normal brain functions bombed a long time ago. Regardless, I visited her town to observe what Animal Crossing brings to her surface. Things were off to a great start when No. 3 met me at the town gate and began watering me. Apparently, I 'needed nutrients.' She then bestowed an owl clock on me, though whether through generosity or as a part of my newly prescribed diet, I'm still not sure. The town was clean and well maintained. The glittering constellation of Runner 2046 AD was particularly awesome, but entering No. 3's mansion was like falling into an ocean of junk. "

Something rather ineresting posted at IGN:
(someone asking) Well I think it's obvious from the trailer that Phantom Hourglass is controlled with the touchscreen, from link's movement to throwing the boomerang, it seems to be all touch enabled, shown ingame through the fairy. One thing that I can't tell though is if swinging your sword is touch enabled, or if you just use the buttons instead? It certainly seems touch enabled when he's fighting the squid... He sorta pulls back the fairy and then pushes it back at the enemy, kinda like a stabbing motion...
You're not the only one to notice this. Way to go, Bozon. Way to disappoint the kiddies.

No doubt you're too occupied with charting your brain's age and calculating simple arithmetic with the quickness of a Chuck Norris roundhouse kick to read this post. That's OK, we'll forgive you and just post this blog here for when you encounter this most horrible issue while playing on your newly-acquired DS Lite. Seems the device doesn't recognize the word blue, a word that is so critical to success in the "game." Reader Sean even went so far as to knock upon the doors of Nintendo, demanding an answer to this most heinous issue. The response he received was:
Hi Sean,
Thanks for your e-mail. We appreciate your comments. The problem that you are describing is very likely because the Nintendo DS Lite is not designed for use in North America. That means that we have not tested it for use here. I will be sure to forward your e-mail along for further review, just in case.
So far, the redesigned Nintendo DS has only been released in Japan. Look for any further announcements on this product by checking the news section of our website at the following address:

Keep checking our website at www.nintendo.com for the latest on Nintendo games, systems, and promotions. And, while on our site, also check out the My Nintendo program. With this program, not only can you check on the status of a

The funny thing is, the "game" can hardly recognize when I say blue either, and that's on an original phat DS. Maybe it's my rough Philly accent, which makes me say "wooter" instead of "water."

Poffy posted this news:
I’m currently going through a phase of inactivity (with both projects), and I want to make a nice, simple, new type of game for the DS.
If anyone has any interesting ideas, let me know.
I currently have a pretty good idea, but I don’ty know how well it’ll work, right now.
