There's a fine line between being a fan and downright obsession, and taking 620 screenshots of a game as a you play it probably puts you in the latter category. GCTonyHawk7 from N-Europe can be best described as someone who takes his Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess gameplay seriously. Very seriously. He's documented his way through the entire Wii version of the game with photos galore.
Check out his two web albums full of pictures that come direct from a capture card, and are 854x480. A word of warning that there are tons of spoilers in these images, since they detail encounters with everything in the game, up to the end. If you don't have a Wii yet, this is the perfect way for you to simulate playing the game.

Andy writes over on Game People that the Gamecube Wavebird, now usable on the Wii, is starting to become quite popular. And by popular, he means expensive.
To prove his point he charted the price of the wireless controller over the lifespan of the GameCube and now the Wii. Check it:
The WaveBird has seen great fluctuations in price over its turbulent life. I recently put together the following list that shows the little fella's popularity reflected in its price (in my local and on-line retailers):
GameCube Launch Price £34.99 (Electronics Boutique)
Mid GameCube £27.99
Late GameCube £22.99 (Game)
End of Gamecube life £5.99 (WH Smiths Sale)
Wii Launch £17.99 (Play.com)
Post Christmas price £24.99 (Amazon.co.uk)
Sure, it's all anecdotal, but it makes sense. The Wavebird is a fantastic controller for GameCube games on the Wii. Developers may tell you next-gen is all about high-def, but that's not true, it's really just about wireless, sweet, sweet cable-free gaming.

So your parents, grandparents, or sugar daddies have gone out and purchased this hot new Wii they've been hearing so much about, only now they don't know what to do with it. Sure, it came with pretty clear instructions, but those instructions were free, and you can't trust anything free. Enter Prima Games' new book, You & Wii: Everything You Need to Know. Due out February 6th, it contains vital information on the menu system, setting up your console, connecting to the internet...even creating photo puzzles, the main reason I bought the Wii in the first place.
Also in the book is a comprehensive Wii Sports strategy guide, with strategies and secrets galore. It also features an amazing customizable cover, thanks to included Mii stickers...you know, in case you and your loved one both get a copy of the guide and don't want them getting mixed up.
Kidding aside, this sounds like an excellent book for retail sales clerks to try and get you to buy when purchasing and new Wii console. For an additional $5 you can get the extended book warranty that allows you to replace it should you attempt to read it in the shower, something I can completely see someone who spends $17 on this guide doing.

Don't forget, this Saturday the Wii News Channel launches, pumping Associated Press stories and photos directly to your television.
Hey, I'm on there sometimes, maybe you'll see my stuff. Sa-weet!
AP reports, go figure, that there are no "immediate plans" to sell advertising space on the New Channel and that news will be displayed through an interactive map.
"The beauty of it is it zooms in and out of areas of the world," said Perrin Kaplan, vice president for marketing at Nintendo's U.S. headquarters in Redmond. "So if you really want to focus on regional news or national news versus international, you just blow up the map of the U.S."
AP has a two-year contract to provide news and photos to Nintendo and might one day also provide multimedia as well. The contract includes the Associated Press providing news for the Wii in English, French, Spanish, Dutch, German and Swiss-German. Japanese news will come from Goo... that's right Goo!

With Nintendo's interstellar vulpine's latest adventure, Star Fox Command on DS, counting down to tomorrow's release, the game's producer, Takaya Imamura, has hinted that Wii might be the next destination for the popular series.
In an exclusive VIP interview with Nintendo of Europe, when asked if a Wii version of Star Fox was likely, Imamura replies: "I wonder how the adventure of Fox and friends is going to go next time?! I have come up with some idea in my mind but it is still just a small one. I will try my best so that I can deliver it to you some time!"
Of course, Fox McCloud setting a course for Wii wouldn't be surprising in the slightest - it is a long-running Nintendo fan favourite, after all - but that doesn't detract from the fact that battling to save the Lylat System using Wii's wizzy-wand would be something to look forward to with starry-eyed optimism.

While industry watchers pined over which next-gen console was going to win the sales war this holiday season, Nintendo's DS walked away with the crown for all gaming hardware. The DS sold 1.6 million units in the US in December, ending an already positive year for the system with a bang.
Nintendo has tallied up recent figures for the DS in the entire Western Hemisphere, and today announced that 10 million DSes have been sold in the Americas since its launch in 2004. The company also claims that nine DSes have been sold every minute in North and South America since its debut.
Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime was proud of his company's portable, and boasted, "More than 5 million people joined the ranks as Nintendo DS owners in America last year alone. And right now, they're all saying the same thing--'give me more!'"
The gaming giant also unveiled the latest release schedule for DS games through March.
February
Diddy Kong Racing DS
Lunar Knights
F24 Stealth Fighter
Disney's Kim Possible: Global Gemini
Meteos: Disney Magic
Winning Eleven Pro Evolution Soccer 2007

The anecdotal evidence that's been going around, now that the Wii is an established fixture in American living rooms, is that Nintendo's new console still has room for improvement. We all had fun over the holidays, sharing Wii Sports with our relatives and watching our aunts laugh themselves stupid. Now, though, it's a new year and it's time for the Wii to step up as a gaming platform. It needs to be more than a Zelda player, and the console needs to prove that this 'new gen' style of play is sustainable over the long term. The post-launch round of games has started to trickle out, and the results are definitely mixed. Today I have for you impressions of Elebits and WarioWare: Smooth Moves. These are two games that show quite a bit of promise, but only one of which actually delivers. Read on for my views, and a return to a numeric grading scale.

The successful launch of the Wii and the continued strong performance of the DS has boosted Nintendo, with the company enjoying a 43 per cent rise in profits for the nine months ended December 31.
The company has recorded net profit of 131.9 billion yen (EUR 844.1m) in the first nine months of the fiscal year, up from 92.2 billion yen (EUR 590m) in the same period last year.
Sales climbed a massive 73 per cent to 712.6 billion yen (EUR 4.5bn) during April through to December, compared to 412.3 billion (EUR 2.63bn) the previous year.
Nineteen of Nintendo's software releases since April have sold over one million units, 13 of which were DS titles while three were for the Wii and three for the Game Boy Advance.
Sales of the Wii have reached 3.19 million units worldwide, according to Nintendo. 1.25 units have been sold in North America with 1.14 units sold in Japan.
Nintendo still expects to reach its target of six million global shipments by March 31, with seven million units manufactured by that date.

Nintendo has yet to confirm a European release date for Super Paper Mario on the Wii, a spokesperson admitted today, despite the game receiving a firm April date in the USA.
Earlier this week leaks from official US magazine Nintendo Power - since confirmed - suggested that the game would be out over there in just a few months.
The game was originally bound for the GameCube, but its extended development and the contrasting fortunes of the ageing Cube and rejuvenating Wii have since changed its focus.
A follow-up to N64 and Cube titles in the same series, and in some respects a sister series to the phenomenal Mario & Luigi handheld titles made by Alphadream, Super Paper Mario is keenly awaited by Nintendo and RPG fans alike.
So, er, we'd be a lot happier if there was positive news to relate. As soon as there is, we'll let you know.

Nintendo has denied that it has once again revised the design of the Wiimote strap, despite apparent photographic evidence to back up the claims.
"The four wrist straps on the left of that picture are not made by Nintendo," a spokesperson told Eurogamer this afternoon, referring to pictures showing replacement straps of a different design to those issued with the console and since.
The photographer had claimed that they were sent to him by Nintendo's replacement programme, which was implemented recently as a reaction to (slightly hysterical) complaints that Wiimote straps were flimsy and hazardous.
"There is no new wrist strap - they must be third party," the spokesperson concluded.
At the time of first offering replacements in mid December, Nintendo had said there was "absolutely nothing wrong" with the originals, which, it pointed out, had passed all the required safety tests.

The sequel to one of the DS' most innovative games, Ace Attorney: Justice for All, will be coming to UK on March 16.
You take control of Phoenix Wright, an attorney (presumably of the 'ace' variety), analysing evidence as you try to pick out the lies in the testimonials of criminals, and uncover the truth behind the mysteries at hand.
A new 'Psyche-Lock' feature gives Phoenix a new way of exposing the lies of hostile witnesses, answering a series of questions correctly or picking out inconsistencies in their statements.
