Another modchip is to be released later this week/next week called the CycloWiz, unlike the Wiinja modchip (from what we are told) this mod has support for Gamecube Homebrew on the Nintendo Wii, no more messing around with SD loaders etc. Yet again this Chip doesnt make the Wii region free.
Now DCEmu is only interested in Modchips for Homebrew Purposes, we are not at all interested in piracy, however if modchips are the only way to get homebrew on the Wii we will post all news that refers to homebrew.
More details as they come in

GameDrift (whom we've never heard of) claims an anonymous Nintendo rep told them over the weekend that new Wii colors are coming this year. As you can imagine, details were sparse, but the tipster claims red and black are in the bag for sure and that we can expect those two -- in addition to others -- by the end of the year.
New colors for Wii were never a question of "if," only "when." After all, Nintendo released the promotional image the same day they unveiled what was then called the Revolution at E3 2005. But it's unlikely such a small site has a mole deep within Kyoto or Redmond headquarters and their quick use of "confirmed" doesn't help their credibility either. Still, one can hope for Puke Green later this year, right?

Nintendo just sent out their weekly Wii-kly update, detailing the four new classics hitting the Wii's virtual console today. Here's the run down:
Mario Kart 64(TM) (Nintendo(R) 64, 1-4 players, 1,000 Wii Points): Put the pedal to the metal in this worthy successor to the Super NES(R) classic, Super Mario Kart(R). Mario Kart 64 boasts great graphics, tons of unique power-ups and a stunning 3-D version of the legendary Battle Mode. With improved courses and a revolutionary head-to-head four-player mode, Mario Kart 64 is sure to win the heart of any race-driving fan. The game includes 20 different courses filled with dips, valleys, jumps, tunnels and bridges. Smooth, precise control -- a trademark of all games from Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto -- will bring players back time and time again for freewheeling fun.
Contra(R) III: The Alien Wars(TM) (Super NES(R), 1-2 players, 800 Wii Points): In the year 2636, the Alien War continues, and it's up to two soldiers, Jimbo and Scully, to put a stop to the alien invasion. The aliens have ravaged the Earth with their powerful organic and technological weapons. Players can join with a partner and battle through six stages of nonstoprun-and-gun action. Collect power-ups, including bombs, flamethrowers, spread shots, lasers and machine guns to take out the aliens. Control Jimbo and Scully as they travel through war-torn cities, race on air bikes, ride missiles and ultimately break into the alien base to defeat the alien boss once and for all.
Bonanza Bros.(TM) (Sega Genesis, 1-2 players, 800 Wii Points): Mobo and Robo Bonanza are enjoying their favorite television show when the picture crackles and the shadowy figure of a mysterious stranger appears on the screen. This figure asks them to collect certain items that he has placed inside various buildings to test his security force. If they return the items successfully, Mobo and Robo will be rewarded. The two of them state that they will get the job done in just three minutes. However, little do they know that each building is packed with security guards who will raise the alarm if they are caught red-handed. Fortunately both Mobo and Robo are equipped with bullets that can knock the guards unconscious for a few seconds. A huge reward will be given out if Mobo and Robo are apprehended. Help the infamous Bonanza Bros. infiltrate a number of different locations ranging from banks to mansions to casinos, and don't get caught.
Comix Zone(TM) (Sega Genesis, 1 player, 800 Wii Points): Sketch Turner is an artist in New York City. One day while Sketch is drawing, a huge thunderstorm strikes the city. A bolt of lightning hits Sketch's image and brings it to life. That image is Mortus, a megalomaniacal mutant who wants to become real and rule the earth. Mortus magically transports Sketch into the pages of his comic book so that he can end his creator's life and become real. Inside the comic book, Sketch meets General Alissa Cyan, who believes he is a superhero that came to save their post-apocalyptic world from the evil brought by Mortus's hand. Now that he's a comic book superhero, Sketch can really put the hurt on the bad guys. Instantly, Sketch can fight like a one-man mercenary platoon.
Damn the lack of online gameplay. Damn it to hell.

Disney's Spectrobes game for DS will bring together the worlds of Pokemon-style collect-'em-all gameplay and Panini sticker-esque trade-'em-all fervour in a heady mix of addiction when it launches on 16 March. Each game pack will include four lenticular cards, which will unlock special bits and pieces in the game, and more will be available after the game's release so Spectrobes fans can play swapsies.
The four cards work by laying them over the DS touch-screen. There's a series of holes in each card and, by tapping through them to the screen beneath in the right order, you'll unlock special creatures and minerals.
With the ability to earn your own Spectrobes patrol badge for display on the official website, downloadable creatures and minerals, and wireless multiplayer battles, in addition to the card-trading, Spectrobes looks sure to enthral hoarders and obsessive gamers alike. We'll be dealing out a review in the next few weeks.

It's been heavily tipped for weeks, and now Driver: Parallel Lines is finally confirmed to be on its way to Wii - and the PC, too.
It's not yet been revealed if the game will contain any new features other than the obvious controller adaptations to the Wii version, but we speculate similar motion-controlled melee and Remote-pointing gun combat systems similar to Scarface, also confirmed for Wii earlier today.
The latest Ubisoft release schedule confirms both the PC and Wii versions of Parallel Lines are due out on March 30. Check back for full previews in the next week or two.

One of the most violent games of the past generation of consoles, Scarface: The World is Yours, is making it's way to the mostly family-orientated Wii this year.
The port, which was confirmed in the latest issue of NGamer, will come with the obvious controller enhancements, using the Wii Remote like a gun to manually target enemies.
You will also get to fist fight enemies (random passer-bys if you please) with motion control, or use the Remote to mangle people with a chainsaw while the sound of the engine revs from the speaker in the Remote.
There'll be no shortage of gangster games on Wii by the end of the year, with Godfather confirmed and Driver: Parallel Lines tipped to be on the way too. The only problem - we played them all to death on Xbox last year.
Scarface will release on Wii later this year. Check back later for a more accurate release date.

The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina of Time has been given a release date and price for Nintendo's Virtual Console in Japan.
And it's the most expensive VC game yet! According to Ninteno's Japanese website the world's best game (in my opinion, anyway) will set you back 1200 Wii Points, which is about nine quid by our reckoning.
N64 games usually cost about 1000 Wii Points - like the recently released Mario Kart 64 - but Ocarina looks set to break the mould ("and they shouldn't do that," says CVG's Nintendo boss Mike Jackson).
The N64 classic is also due for launch in Japan next month. We believe that Ocarina is due for a VC release in late February. While you wait why don't you whip out the N64 (or GameCube version) and get stuck in. Cheaper than buying it all over again.

US Wii owners will be able to download the classic N64 racer Mario Kart 64 from the US Virtual Console this morning, joining the Europeans who got the game in their Wii Shop last Friday.
CVG has already reviewed the UK version, which received a number of performance tweaks for the Wii with the removal of the ugly PAL borders being the main improvement. That won't be a problem for the US however, where the original NTSC N64 game ran full screen and full speed.
Mario Kart 64 costs 1000 Wii Points which is $10 for you lucky US residents, and around £7.50 for rip-off UK.

Bodom Child has released a new version of his excellent looking RPG game for the Nintendo DS, check out the screenshot above and get downloading.
Arcomage is a Heroic Fantasy card game, which made its first appearance in the PC game Might & Magic VII, as a game side quest which was practised in the various taverns of the game.
Being fan of this game since I've played Might & Magic VII, I decided to adapt it on DS.
The first version was presented to the Neoflash compo, it was a little buggy and didn't have a 2 player hotseat mode.
The PALib compo is consequently a good event to present the new version 0.99.
What's new?
All knowns bugs have been fixed (if some of them are still hidden somewhere, tell please me )
2 Players mode (hotseat) is available.
A new "Premium" card has been added : Orange Power. It's rather powerful.
Towers and wall are a little redone.
New "orange" sky. I think it's more beautiful than its predecessor.
Menu has been remade.

RyanB posted a great app for GBA Homebrew on your DS, heres the news from him:
With Slot-1 DS flash carts, you sometimes want to boot a GBA cart in Slot-2. There’s probably something already out there for this, but I couldn’t find one so I made a small and simple GBA mode switcher. It uses the setting you’ve selected in your DS firmware to determine which screen to run on. This is probably the shortest DS code I’ll ever write, so source is included in this post.

Via Ketchup site comes a new MSX Emulator for the Nintendo DS:
Heres the translated info:
PenkoDS?
PenkoDS is an emulator MSX2 for Nintendo DS. It is based on fmsx of Marat Fayzullin.
The speed of emulation is currently 75% on average (either about 30 to 40% faster than the port fmsx of nyagosu of which I took again the management of the keyboard and the joystick).
Among the functionalities, one finds:
- A resize mode to manage the various resolutions of the MSX.
- Support DLDI
- Support of the roms and the discs
- Management of the sound (with the same problems as under CrocoDS)
Level use, it is enough for you to copy the Romanian one in the root or the /rom/msx repertory of your chart flash, patcher the nds with patchor DLDI and of launching this homebrew from your Nintendo DS
To test with the version msx bombjack of Kralizec or with one of the releases of the MSXDEV' 06.
One of the large bugs current is the impossibility of rebooter after the insertion of a disc MSX. (On the other hand, not of problem of reboot with the roms). This version is a version alpha, therefore I await all your remarks in order to improve it.

A new release of WiiCR has happenned today, heres the info and whats new:
WiiCR is a media player solution for the Nintendo Wii. It acts as a streaming media server and is capable of transcoding nearly any video file to a suitable flv for an embedded flash player. It allows browsing of the remote filesystem to view: videos (avi/xvid/divx/mpeg/wmv/etc), text files, jpg's and play mp3s.
0.3.1.10 release
sorry for the delay in the release, but I caught a bug with the mp3 pls generation, now sorted.
sorted mp3 player not loading files with unfriendly characters.
included shoutcast.tpl in icons1 (due to shifting shoutcast to a tpl automatic redirection will not work when u add a new mp3, simply click back then click on the mp3 player icon.
Testers needed
We need some video testers to go through and find several working combinations of encoder settings that play nicely on the Wii.

This isn't the first bulk sale of hundreds of retro games on eBay, and it certainly won't be the last, but that doesn't mean we're not impressed by the completeness of this particular collection. Currently the bidding is at an impressive $5,200 with just over 6 days to go, which isn't surprising considering what's included: 670 NES games, which the seller claims constitutes "every game ever made" for the Nintendo Entertainment System. If achieving your childhood dream of owning, we repeat, every NES game ever made, isn't enough for you, then you'll no doubt explode when you see that ROB the robot, a Power Glove, a multitude of other accessories, and that essential NES console are all part of the deal. When you wake up in a couple of hours -- after you finish reading this post you'll pass out due to an overwhelming wave of nostalgia, trust us -- you better cross your fingers and check this post's comment's section in the hope that someone has found a flaw in the deal, otherwise you'll be forever jealous of the winner.
