Seriously, we want you to let go of your mouse, take your other hand out of the box Cheez-Its (we assume you browse the net like we do) and give these fine gentleman responsible for the above technological marvel a round of applause. These two dudes have managed to harness the power of the Sun (the bane of any good gamer's existence) and use it to power the Wii, a television and set of speakers.

With the TV and speakers requiring around 130 watts to operate and the Wii needing a smaller 40-45 watts, in direct sunlight, during a normal sunny day, they can get from 6 to 8 hours of game time out of this bad boy. That's more than enough time to throw down in some Wii Sports: Bowling or maybe get some people together in the parking lot outside of the Wendy's for some multiplayer WarioWare: Smooth Moves. So where do they take their new toy? Down to Venice Beach, of course!

Following the announcement of its first title on the console, it turns out that Treasure Island Z won't be Capcom's Wii debut after all, as remote-enabled Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles is apparently "still on track" for release this year.
This is all according to Wired Blogs, which got word from Capcom that the Wii Resi is indeed still on for a 2007 release, as stated in the extremely short debut trailer released last year.
Not a terrible lot is known about the game at the moment, though according to Famitsu Umbrella Chronicles is comprised of 2 parts; a traditional Resident Evil single-player campaign and an arcade-like mode in which you play as different characters through sections of previous Resi games.
According to Wired Blog, Capcom will also be announcing a new title in the next few weeks. We'll see what Capcom's UK op has to say about that one, and keep our eyes peeled for you in the meantime.

Payk has posted his entry into the Neoflash Coding Comp:
The game "WolveSlayer" is a 3D hack'n slay game.
It uses DLDI and the ROM is already patched for R4/M3Simply.
Just download the WolveSlayer.rar, extract it, patch the rom with right dldi, and copy the folder and the romfile to the root of your flashcard.
Instructions:
You can move the character trough the world using arrowkeys (D-PAD or what ever)
You can open doors (actually just one the rest is locked) with A
and swing your sword with B.
Main aim of this game (that rhimes nice) is to find and slay down a big grey wolve (you will meet smaller ones too).
Of course you will lose if they kill you.
More infos:
This project is an engine made by me to allow ppl to make their own games (later). Its possible to make own maps etc now, but on a quite unhandy way.
I will develop a mapeditor sometime in the near future.
The interesing part of that engine is the render stuff.
It doesn't use the hardware lughtning function which is quite limitated (just 4 lights without any position ...) Instead of using that the engine use the vertexshader unit by itself. That makes a few unseen effects possible on DS.
Such as dynamic lights and "kinda-bump-mapping-thingy". It also allows to set up lightsources everywhere and as much as you like. If they arent dynamic that even doesnt cost more then setting up no lights.
The soundengine and tinyxml are the only parts (beside libnds and fatlib) which i didntmade by my own. The resources in the folder are ALL mode by ppl just for THIS game(pls watch the credits). So pls dont rip anything without asking the right person (you can reach them trough me if you dont kno them)
Sorry that i wanst able to make screenshots for now. I gonna attach some before deadline is over here (GMT+1).
Enjoy playing and thanx for reading/testing

qwärty posted his entry in the Neoflash Coding Contest:

Hi,
Blubb 3d is an online-multiplayer game.
(offline too of course)
Features :
-Online Mode
-Single Player(non-cheating CPU-enemy- he know exactly what you would know)
-Offline Multiplayer (Hot-Seat)
-Pictochat
-Online Top-10
(the playerdata is saved on the server)
-dynamic calculated water surface with sphere mapping
-MD2 (quake 2 models) ships, with support for animations
(unfortunately I couldn't make animated ships myself :P)
-MOD-player (all credits for the MOD-player go to Deku-Tree)
-Awesome music from HtheB !
-A short tutorial
-DLDI FAT by chism
I won't explain the gameplay here, because I did that in the tutorial.
Online Mode Explanation :
-Direct Connect : Use this only for LAN-play, or if the blubb-lobby is unreachable.
The server has to forward ports 9999 and 10000 to his NDS (not necesarry for LAN-play).
The client needs the Servers IP.
Games played in direct-connect mode won't be saved on the lobby.
-Lobby Mode :
Connect to the Blubb server, chat and play with NDS-homebrewers around the world.
The games played on the lobby will be saved.
You need at least three games plus one game per week registered on the Lobby.
(registering is done automatically at first connect)
Forwarding ports 9999 and 10000 isn't necessary for the Lobby-mode.
But if you do the communication might be more stable (and my PC won't have to handle as much traffic)
Lobby Menu :
Rd. Game : Play against a random player. (you will accept invitations automatically)
Invite : Yup, you guessed it, invite a user to a match.
Stats : display statistics of a connected user.
Top Ten : display the top ten (while viewing left/right changes the top10 type)
Exit : leave the Blubb lobby and disconnect.
The users have a Letter in front of them, showing their status :
P: private, doesn't automatically accept
O: open, (RD-Game)
(...) : away playing (those users won't receive any lobby-messages)
Installation :
Extract the contents of the folder to your FAT-compatible flash card.
Patch the binary with the proper DLDI-patch if needed.
(This shouldn't be necessary for most cards, only patch if it doesn't work)
Blubb uses data/blubb/ for the data by default, this can be changed in the blubb.cfg if the user wants to.

Bandai Namco's unending cycle of Gundam, Super Robot Wars, Gundam, Super Robot Wars continues! Following last week's release of the Voltron-equipped Super Robot Wars W for the DS, the company wasted no time in announcing the latest DS Gundam game, SD Gundam G Generation Cross Drive.
This latest entry in the G Generation series is, expectedly, a grid-based strategy game. Bandai Namco is cramming over 120 stages into the game -- a record for the series. All controls are through the stylus, allowing for players to quickly edit their units, select movements, and zoom in and out of the battle map. The game also includes a mech editor, where you use parts that you've gathered from your enemies to create new, powerful Mobile Suits.
Joining the large number of battle stages is an even larger cast of characters. The title promises 15 Gundam properties, including Gundam, Z Gundam, Gundam ZZ, Gundam F91, Gundam 0083 Stardust Memory, V Gundam, Gundam W, Gundam Seed and Gundam Seed Destiny. Expect some 500 characters and 300 Mobile Suits to appear during battle.
This latest super deformed Gundam game will hit Japan on 5/31, presumably a week or so before we hear first details on the next Super Robot Wars title.

The mere thought of a new D3 Publisher game tends to cause panic in that small group of people who update videogame databases either professionally or as a hobby. One always has to wonder, will the new game's name be too long to fit?
D3 has gotten pretty darn close to breaking databases in the past, but with its latest game, it may have crossed the barrier. Take a deep breath, and try reading this: Simple DS Series Vol.14 The Jidousha Kyoushuujo DS -- Gendoukitsuki Jidousha, Futsuu Jidou Nirin, Oogata Jidou Nirin, Futsuu Jidousha, Fusuu Jidousha Nishuu, Chuugata Jidousha, Oogata Jidousha, Oogata Jidousha Nishuu, Oogata Tokuchuu Jidousha, Kenbiki.
That's the full name for D3's latest DS title, D3's latest simple series budget title, and the DS's latest non-game, all of which can be yours on 5/31 (only if you import, of course). A translation of the first part of the name should give a hint as to the content: Simple DS Series Vol.13: The Vehicle Learning DS.
Yes, the system that already has right brain trainers, left brain trainers, cooking trainers, walking trainers, language trainers, and even two different types of manner trainers (one for business manners, one for standard social manners), now has its first driving tutorial. Meant for those studying away for Japan's tough license tests, this edutainment title includes 4,000 questions pulled from a test preparation book published by Natsume Publishing. Outside of questions and answers, the game also includes a 2D overhead driving mode which allows you to practice the rules of the road a bit more directly (although we'd suggest that you try out the real 3D type of driving before actually taking your license test; do be sure and bring your DS with you to the test, though, as your middle-aged tester probably has one!).
As for all that junk that makes up the rest of the name, those are just the different types of license tests that are included in the game. You'll find everything from standard cars to motorcycles. The fact that D3 decided to put this extraneous information in the title suggests that they're either out to drive database masters to insanity, or they're planning another volume with an entirely different set of cars and an even longer name. .

If you're, like, crazy obsessed with the Pokemon, then clearly this post is not for you. In fact, we suggest you head on out to the kitchen (or break room), grab yourself a popsicle and relax for a couple of minutes. You deserve it. You worked hard.
For the rest of you, who're looking to just have everything spoiled, we suggest you check out the link, as it presents you with all the dirt on the latest and greatest Pokemon set to be featured in next month's release of Pokemon Diamond & Pearl. There's a full break down of each, including their elemental properties and original Japanese name.

Training the brain with a computer workout program may be better than classic computer games at staving off age-related mental decline, scientists reported on Friday.
While the computer and video game store has long been the bastion of teenagers and hard-core gamers, a host of new games for older folk have made their way into the stores.
The games, from companies like Nintendo and Mattel Inc., are based on studies showing that with a little training, older people can improve their brain power.
Researchers in Israel compared how one brain-training program, MindFit, fared versus a workout with a sampling of classic computer games, such as the puzzle game Tetris.
The study, funded by a grant from game maker CogniFit Ltd., involved 121 volunteers over 50 who used the MindFit training program or a sampling of computer games for three months. Volunteers were divided into groups. They were not told whether they were playing the brain workout program or a dummy program.
Both groups benefited, but the group using the MindFit program showed a statistically significant improvement in spatial short-term memory, spatial learning and focused attention.
These areas would be especially helpful with things like driving or preventing falls, a major source of injury in the elderly, said Dr. Nir Giladi, a neurologist at Tel Aviv University in Israel who conducted the study..

The Nintendo DS Rumble Pak didn't show up on most people's radar back when it was first released with Metroid Prime Pinball a year and a half ago, but with over a dozen titles now using the force feedback cartridge, more and more people are looking to buy one for their compatible games. DS Lite owners, however, will be annoyed to hear that the only Rumble Paks sitting on North American shelves are the original, GBA-sized carts.
Though they've been available in Japan since last May, Nintendo hasn't yet brought the smaller DS Lite Rumble Paks to the states. If you're looking to purchase a cartridge that won't stick out of the GBA slot, buying Nintendo's DS Lite Rumble Pak would set you back about $24 (plus international s/h) at an import site.
eWin, a company known for manufacturing high-quality carts for the homebrew market, has produced a third-party alternative that puts the official Rumble Pak to shame. Available online for approximately $10, this new DS Lite Rumble Pak already has the advantage with its bargain price. Being cheap doesn't necessarily mean it's a second-rate product. According to GBAtemp's review, eWin's force feedback was more enjoyable than the "buzzing" from Nintendo's cart, and noticeably quieter too.
Unlike with Nintendo's product, you can match eWin's Rumble Paks with your own DS Lite, choosing from white, black or pink carts.
