A new trailer for the upcoming Theme Park DS has hit the internet, no doubt dizzy and on the verge of blowing chunks from its digital ride on the Tilt-A-Whirl. Now that it's had some time to collect itself, we're glad to present it to you. In said trailer, which is available past the post break, some of the game's different structures, such as ice cream stands and bouncy castles, are demonstrated.

Seriously, what else would you want to do in Sim City DS anyway? Erecting buildings is about as good as it comes in the Sim City series, so it's appropriate that the Japanese commercial, embedded past the post the break, should focus on that. And, like all other Japanese commercials, it's shorter than it should be. We want more footage, dagnabbit!

A sequel to last year's Pokémon-infused roguelike, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon, was announced in the latest issue of Famitsu. The original was received with mixed reviews, but fans of the dungeon-crawling formula welcomed the game with open arms. Both versions (Blue Rescue Team for the DS, Red Rescue Team for the GBA) sold well enough in the states, so we can probably expect to see this follow-up translated for English audiences eventually.
Not much else was revealed about Pokémon Mystery Dungeon 2, except that WiFi support is planned. An "enhanced" story and changed format were mentioned, but neither were discussed in detail. The premise for the first game was a bit goofy, featuring a human character transformed into a Pokémon, but it was enjoyable enough to make us hope for a similar scenario with this sequel.

We hadn't heard anything about the US localizations of the two Tendo Dokuta games since November. Siliconera is reporting today that the two games, called Lifesigns: Hospital Affairs and Lifesigns: Surgical Unit are being published by Dreamcatcher Interactive and released on May 15 and June 28 respectively. A quick jaunt over to EBGames' webpage confirms this information for Surgical Unit (if EB is to be trusted), but Hospital Affairs is nowhere to be seen.
Tendo Dokuta was a launch title for the DS in Japan. It's amazing that someone's just now getting around to localizing it!

There's already enough video game cakes on the internet to give you a mouth full of cavities, but we couldn't pass on a slice of this dual-screened dessert from Patrick and his girlfriend, Zara. The UK couple celebrated Mother's Day yesterday by baking this treat for Patrick's mom, a 60-year-old gamer.
The attention to detail is impressive, taking into account a matching stylus, icing-covered screenshots, and even a red battery light! Every single curve and recess on an actual Nintendo DS Lite is mirrored on the cake, ready to be gobbled up. It's going to be tough for other video game desserts to meet the standard Patrick and Zara have set.

Yes, they took their sweet time before getting their hands on a Nintendo Wii, but the information they provide is pretty spot-on. A quick tutorial of how one plays Wii, along with some of its best games (they get much respect for the very accurate score they gave Elebits), makes this video a nice little way to advertise the console. Odds are though, their viewers already have one, already want one, or don't really care at this point ...

This may be huge news, but we can't tell how far along the development is. Telltale Games, who were very publicly shopping around for Wii programmers, made a tentative mention of their console plans in an interview with Shacknews. CEO Dan Connors said that they're working on putting their episodic Sam & Max series on the Virtual Console (and also on the download service for one of those other consoles or whatever.)
This is the first evidence we've heard of any game coming to the VC that isn't an old console game. It doesn't quite count as original content on the VC, because the Sam & Max games are already out for the PC, but it's a step in that direction. Plus, hey, more games!

Cooking Mama: Cook Off is already out in shops starting this week, but Majesco's official launch event for the Wii game takes place at NYC's Nintendo World Store on March 31st, the Saturday after next. There will be a variety of competitions for gamers to take part in at the store's interactive stations. We hope that doesn't mean they'll actually be cooking anything themselves, as some 13-year-old kid is bound to burn the Pokémon Center down while trying to flambé.
The Nintendo World Store will have limited edition aprons for attendees and copies of the game for contest winners. If that isn't enough to bring you in, there will also be free food! Keeping with Cooking Mama's theme, an on-site chef will be fixing snacks for the party. If you're in the area, this is definitely worth checking out!

New Weekly special offer from Play Asia

Weekly Special: Nintendo's Japan exlusive Gameboy Advance™ platform adventure Densetsu no Stafi 2 at US$ 9.99 only - offer valid for 1 week
Densetsu no Stafi 2 is the sequel to Densetsu no Stafi, also known as The Legend of Stafi, developed by TOSE and published by Nintendo for the Game Boy Advance in 2003. Once more, this game is very similar to Nintendo's own Kirby series and is a platformer that stars Nintendo's starfish, Stafi.
Ogura, after being sealed in a jar and accidentally released by Stafi, has vowed to take revenge on our star prince after his humiliating defeat in the previous game. He starts by kidnapping Stafi's father, PapaStar, and taking him away to some far-off land. Stafi, with the help of his new abilities and his friends such as Kyorosuke the clam, Grandfather Rob, and Mermaid, must save his father and once again defeat Ogura!
Gameplay is very similar to most 2D platformers, as you must navigate through many parts of a level, before touching the End Treasure Chest which marks the end of a level. By reading signs and listening to Stafi's friends, Stafi can learn different kinds of moves and attacks that are necessary to complete the game.
Nintendo's Japan exlusive Gameboy Advance™ platform adventure Densetsu no Stafi 2 is now available at discounted US$ 9.99 only.

Yoot Saito, creator of the pinball-war game hybrid Odama, has recently showed off his GameCube adventure with some Wii-centric modifications. At the Japanese media arts festival, Saito controlled the troops on screen using a Wii remote to point and click instead of the original GameCube control scheme, where troop movements were controlled via voice commands through a microphone.
Does this mean we will see an Odama sequel or remake? The GameCube version met with mixed reviews, but the idea was original enough that it could warrant another try. Saito, who has previously worked on Seaman and Sim Tower, is currently working on a sequel to Seaman for the PlayStation 2 and an unnamed DS project. If Odama is making a Wii invasion, we wouldn't expect it any time soon.

A company accusing Nintendo of swiping the name for the Wii's Mii Channel from its own digital avatar service is trying to drop its lawsuit against the gamemaker. The only snag is that Nintendo doesn't want it to drop the suit.
Last November, WeeWorld filed suit against Nintendo, alleging that the gamemaker's Mii avatars on its then-unreleased Wii system infringed on trademarks for its own WeeMees, digital avatars it claims to have offered online since 2001.
Currently featured on AOL Instant Messanger, WeeMees give users a simple tool for creating their own custom cartoon-styled avatars. In addition to choosing eye color, hair style, and clothing, users can outfit their WeeMees with accessories to indicate their interests. A number of gaming systems are included in the possible accessories, from an Xbox 360 to a PlayStation Portable. Users can also equip their WeeMees with what appears to be a Nintendo DS Lite (click on picture above), but there is no Wii option at the moment.
Nintendo originally defended itself in the suit, saying that its use of homonyms for common words like "me" and "we" constituted fair use under trademark laws. It has also alleged that WeeWorld didn't use the WeeMee name in the US until after Nintendo had announced its system and Mii Channel, and that WeeWorld can't prove the likelihood of consumer confusion arising out of the products' similar names.
...and this is a Wii Mii.The legal battle simmered until last month, when WeeWorld asked the judge in the case to dismiss the suit without prejudice, which would leave the door open for future litigation on the subject. Calling the case "unquestionably in its infant stages" with no depositions taken, motions for judgment made, or trial date set, WeeWorld said it wanted to see the dispute played out overseas first.
"With most of its current business in the United Kingdom, WeeWorld recently decided that it should use its limited resources to first seek relief in the United Kingdom," the company said in its motion to dismiss the case.
Last week, Nintendo filed its objection to WeeWorld's motion. The gamemaker feels there is no possibility of confusion between the names, and said it's entitled to a dismissal of the suit with prejudice, which would prevent WeeWorld from picking up the claims against Nintendo in the future.
"[I]n the face of disclosure obligations and discovery demands targeted at getting to the bottom of its unsupported claims of 'confusion' and damage, WeeWorld has abruptly asked this Court to let it dismiss this case without prejudice," Nintendo's response reads, "freeing it from having to reveal the lack of substance to its claims, while allowing it to hold over Nintendo the threat of future US litigation if it is unsuccessful pursuing those claims in European courts, as it now intends."
Even if the matter is dismissed without prejudice, Nintendo said WeeWorld should be made to pay its legal fees, as it estimated that it had already spent around $400,000 investigating the claims and preparing its defense.

The Adventure Company is porting Agatha Christie's And Then There Were None to Wii.
The game, originally released on PC last year, has player work their way through a murder mystery based on Agatha Christie's novel of the same name.
New Wii-specific controls will allow players to tackle situations using various motions, like digging to unearth clues, or spinning the handle of a safe.
The PC game didn't do too well so we're hoping the Wii game will receive more of a re-working than simply updated controls.
A release date for the Wii version is yet to be announced.

The latest Wii Virtual Console update has just landed in the good old US of A, and for once gamers across the pond are getting the games we received many weeks ago.
Already released in Europe NES dirt-racer Excitebike is the first retro title up for download in North America, which if you're too young or memory fatigued to remember from the 80s you might recognize from the GBA Wario Wares.
Second is Namco's TurboGrafx offering Splatter House, which appeared on the European Wii Shop last week. In case you missed it the first time around, Splatter House is an early attempt at the survival horror genre, pitting you and your girlfriend against zombies in an abandoned mansion, which sounds familiar.
Finishing up this week's North American VC update is Beyond Oasis (or The Story of Thor to us), a Mega Drive action-RPG that apparently has you playing as Prince Ali, a bloke who's found a golden armlet and is using it for all kinds of spirit-y mischief.
Look out for the Europe Virtual Console update this Friday, where hopefully we'll get some more notable titles than in recent weeks.

For those of you who thought that Oblivion could grace the Wii (the game is coming to the PSP, so why shouldn't it be doable on the Wii, right?), you might want to take a seat. Oh, wait, you're already sitting, aren't you? Right, right ... well, uh ... it's not coming to Wii. Nope, no chance it'll grace the system as Bethesda's vice president of Marketing Peter Hines denies the rumor during a GameIndustry.biz interview.
Hines goes on to destroy our hopes by stating "It's something we'd like to do, but unfortunately it's not a very good fit with Oblivion. Oblivion is a very demanding game hardware-wise and in terms of graphics processing and raw horsepower. It's not something the Wii was designed to do. They decided not to make the focus on raw horsepower but on interface and so forth. It's a great console and many of us at Bethesda have one but I know that bringing Oblivion over is not possible - we'd have to do a whole new game." Right, but couldn't a port, with some cleaned up graphics, of the PSP Oblivion be possible on the Wii? The PSP is just a smaller PS2 or something, right?
What do you guys think? Would you want Oblivion on the Wii?
