Aprotective parent has run riot in a bid to stop Nintendo and their evil foul mouth critters in Animal Crossing influencing her daughter with shiny blue-coloured swears.
The latest case of gaming parenting comes from a young 11-year-old lass in Scotland who, whilst enjoying exploring her town in Animal Crossing DS, was called a "****ing cow" by one of the characters, as featured in the London Metro newspaper.
A Nintendo UK representative insisted that none of the company's family friendly titles features any offensive language, adding "It is either a pirate copy or it is user-inputted text." Most likely a used copy or an attention-seeking girl already clued up in the ancient art of le-swear.

US website Gamespot was given a tip from one of its readers about a focus group for Harmonix's Rock Band.
The tipster revealed that the focus group was told it would be coming to the Wii as well, plus would feature nothing but original artists and the drum peripheral will feature a drum with a kick pedal and real sticks.
With the main discussion being around packaging and pricing, the group only seemed to come to the agreement that $150 for a wireless guitar, a drum kit, and a microphone sounded reasonable, as opposed to the initially proposed $200 price point. Other than this, the idea of extra songs for download was mentioned, as the company clearly wants to help extend the life of the game for consumers taking the plunge. As for when a Wii edition will be released, nobody has a clue, although given that Nintendo itself is only getting online with Mario Strikers Charged Football this May in Europe, Third Party games likely will not have fully implemented online modes until the beginning of 2008.
As for the company's official line on the whole matter, for the moment it remains "We are conducting consumer focus groups for Rock Band but have not finalised any pricing or packaging details. Any speculation at this point is just that - speculation."

You can also take advantage of the inbuilt cheat code system to enjoy more freedom with your favourite games.
CycloDS Evolution is the world’s most advanced Media Enhancer for NDS Lite and NDS. Boasting superior functionality, European design and quality components, CycloDS Evolution is unparalleled in its field.

CycloDS Evolution’s inbuilt OS can run commercial ROM’s and homebrew software without the need for any patching on the users part. ROM loading is fast and trouble free, simply browse to the game you want to play and tap to execute. You don’t even need to apply DLDI patches to your homebrew software; CycloDS Evolution takes care of this for you with its automatic DLDI patching feature.
Evolution loads media from MicroSD cards, which means you’re free to buy more memory at any time, never constrained by the boundaries of onboard flash memory. Transferring games and homebrew software is simple using the supplied MicroSD USB reader. Simply connect to your PC and drag & drop the desired files onto your MicroSD card.
Listen to MP3’s, watch videos or even read e-books via Moonshell. The Moonshell multimedia application will maximize the versatility of your handheld console.
The CycloDS Evolution GUI was designed with user friendliness in mind and can be operated exclusively with the stylus if desired. Skinning is supported which means you’ll always have a fresh view of our product at your fingertips. The user interface is multi-lingual, currently supporting the following languages: English, French, German, Italian, Korean, Spanish, Latin American Spanish and Portuguese.
Game sharing is painless with CycloDS Evolution. Unlike most other devices on the market, CycloDS Evolution supports single card download play even with trouble games such as Mario Kart DS and New Super Mario Bros.

*UPDATE*
Today we’d like to report some additional information about the CycloDS Evolution and CycloDS products.
First of all, the highly anticipated CycloDS Evolution will reach resellers in about 14 days from now. The recommended retail price is US$54.99 or EUR€42.
Now for some additional information on the CycloDS Evolution. We are currently working on a feature where CycloDS Micro and Mini can be used as a slot 2 expansion pack for the CycloDS Evolution. This will allow you to both play GBA games and use the Opera Web Browser (which normally requires a separate RAM expansion pack). The GBA games WILL NOT require patching; this will be handed by the CycloDS Evolution OS automatically.
The CycloDS Micro and Mini are already available. The CycloDS Evolution and Mini or Micro combination will prove invaluable to users because you’ll be able to play NDS games with all the advanced features provided by CycloDS Evolution, as well as playing GBA games and using the Opera Web Browser.

New Hero. New Enemies. Swing Action. That's Tecmo's motto for the newly announced Project Rygar, a Wii resurrection of the "Legendary Warrior" (not a port of the PS2 game). Revealed during Tecmo's 'Nite Out 07' event in Tokyo, Japan, the Wii-exclusive will apparently share little in common with its series' predecessors, with the exception of the trademark "Diskarmor" weapon. Tecmo shared little else about the game, teasing attendees with a few glimpses of concept art, but no gameplay images.
So how 'bout it Tecmo? You gonna warm us up with a Rygar Virtual Console release? If ya do, just make sure that virtual save feature's workin'...

The European version of SNK Vs. Capcom Card Fighters DS won't launch with the game-breaking bug that's been crippling American copies.
But when exactly we'll be ale to play the game is still to be determined, with Ignition Entertainment promising us a definitive date "shortly".
Americans ran into problems on the ninth level of the game, when it crashed after an encounter with an opponent called Jon. Unfortunately the card you collect for completing this part was required to complete the adventure, rendering most people's games broken beyond repair.
SNK has since offered to replace copies in the US, but it's going to take up to six weeks for the freshly ordered replacements to arrive from Nintendo.
But then the game is dreadful. So it shouldn't bother you lot anyway.

Nintendo UK's bossman David Yarnton has revealed to British trade paper MCV some juicy hardware sales figures. And we just know how much you love sales numbers, so here you go. The figures disclosed include total global sales, as well as those in continental Europe and the UK.
Nintendo DS:
Global: 40 million
Europe: 11 million
Britain: 3.1 million
Nintendo Wii:
Global: 5.84 million
Europe: 1.3 million
Britain: 438,000
Says Yarnton:
We've sold close to 438,000 Wiis in the UK in five months. It's really hard to have targets - we have seen unprecedented demand.
Yes, we set targets originally and we have definitely exceeded those. They are continually being re-assessed all the time.
Slight warning: since these come from Nintendo themselves, and don't make the distinction between shipped and sold, take a grain of salt or three. But don't overdo it; after all, since every Wii shipped is being sold, that distinction's probably a touch irrelevant.

An little 11-year-old girl in Inverbervie Scotland and her mother were shocked when one of the colorful characters in the child's Animal Crossing DS game had called her a '****ing cow'. As children these days are taught the 'screenshot or it didn't happen' rule from an early age, they were lucky enough to capture the precious moment for UK's Metro news. Of course it has to be user-input, seeing as the text is in blue, but how on earth did it get in there?
It's boundless speculation time!
This is the modern-day version of acting out your parents' marital problems with Barbie dolls. The girl sits in her room, listening to her parents fighting in muffled voices, and begins to think she isn't good enough to have a good-natured, friendly Animal Crossing town. She begins sending out letters to her 'friends', first calling Tom Nook a bloody wanker (deservedly so), and eventually getting to the point where she's distilling turnips into alcohol and calling Tippy a '****ing cow'. It isn't until Whitney comes to confront her that she realizes she needs help and brings the DS Lite to her mother, who completely misunderstands. Eventually the truth will come out, leading to a dramatic, "YOU, okay!? I learned it from watching you!"
That or it was a used copy, but that's just boring.
