THQ has unveiled more about its upcoming Wii game, De Blob, via fourteen brand new screenshots.
It all looks a bit bonkers. In case you haven't been following, you take control of de Blob, who must restore colour to the colourless world he finds himself in.
In order to do this, you must roll around the world and leave streaks of goo over the grey terrain.
Unfortunately, the screenshots don't do the game justice, looking a bit lifeless and dull. Which, to be fair though, is exactly how the world is supposed to feel.
Instead, we recommend taking a look at the video on our De blob game page for a more accurate look at how the game will play. Aren't we nice?

JimmyL has released a new version of his RTS Game for the DS:
Here's a new version of the game with some of the new stuff I've been working on. It's not quite done and not as user friendly as I'd like, but it's been so long since the last release, I figured it's time to update.
I updated the game to use the latest devkitpro. This should fix network connection problems for new ds's.
There's also a new single player menu with the following options:
"Home base" which doesn't do anything yet.
"Debug map" for testing, one of the face buttons switches which team you're currently controlling, and the buildings produce guys instantly.
"Survival", I haven't played it more than twice, so I'm not sure how balanced/fun it is. The goal is to defend the house for as long as possible while increasingly large waves of enemies come out every 20 seconds. If you have wifi enabled, it will upload your high score. I'll add a high score page soon. Sadly, if you don't have wifi enabled before you play, the high score will get thrown out.
The old game(multiplayer and single player) is hidden away in the skirmish menu.

Proving there's more to him than Elite (and Wallace and Gromit games), David Braben's company Frontier Developments has just released eight new screenshots from LostWinds. We want.
It frankly looks gorgeous. And not just for a WiiWare title, but against anything on Nintendo's console. Note to developers - look at this and Mario Galaxy when lamenting about the power under the hood of Wii.
LostWinds is scheduled for release later on in the year. Players take control of a boy named Toku and the wind spirit Enril, who must foil an evil elemental spirit.
To do so, the player must use the power of the wind, no doubt by gesturing with the Wii Remote to get around puzzles and platforms that are in the character's way.
In a recent interview, Braben told us that: "We believe that the content of LostWinds rivals many disc based games, and we have much more of the story yet to tell". Based on what we've seen, we hope he gets the opportunity to do so.

Sega has released eight new screenshots from Samba de Amigo, due out some time this year.
First released for Dreamcast, Samba originally came with a set of maracas that players used to take part in a fun rhythm-action game fronted by a monkey.
The Wii version is more of the same, except the maracas have been substituted by the Wii Remote and Nunchuk.
Suffice to say then, that screenshots are hardly the best way of conveying how the game will perform. Still, they look crisp and colourful, which perfectly captures the spirit of the original title.

Codemasters today announced that Emergency Mayhem has shipped to U.S. retailers nationwide. Coming exclusively to the Wii, Emergency Mayhem puts players at the helm of three emergency services in a frantic race against time to hold together Crisis City, a mad metropolis that's falling apart at the seams.
Combining chaotic arcade driving with a huge range of mini-game challenges, players race against the clock in one of three emergency vehicles - a fire-truck, ambulance or police patrol car to reach different incident scenes.
Typically in Crisis City, incidents requiring attention are of a decidedly slapstick nature and Emergency Mayhem takes advantage of the Wii Remote in a huge variety of mini games that come into play once players reach an emergency scene. Pump the Wii Remote to practice CPR, point it to direct water from a powerful hose, mimic a wrench to bring bursting water-hydrants under control, or position a trampoline to save people leaping from burning buildings.
With an entire city to explore, three branches of the emergency services to control and over 30 types of emergency to deal with, players have a huge challenge to complete. Players can also share the mayhem with a fantastic multiplayer mode featuring mini-game challenges for up to four players. Compete in a tournament or battle against the clock in Survival mode as friends and family compete to be the best.
Get ready to bring some order to Crisis City with Emergency Mayhem, now shipping exclusively on Wii. For the latest movie and monkey-adorned wallpapers, visit www.codemasters.com/emergency.

Rising Star has announced plans to release Rune Factory: A Fantasy Harvest Moon this September in Europe.
Rune Factory, you may recall from, er, all that copy we didn't write about it when it came out in Japan and the US last August, is a Harvest Moon game with an action-RPG twist.
That twist is that, in addition to being a standard-issue Harvest Moon farming type, toiling in the fields and so on, you're also an amnesiac swordsman with a murky past you're trying to uncover.
This you do by taking Mayor Godwin's instruction to go out and duff up local beasties, hoping, according to the delicately appointed press release description, that the deepest of the caves' secrets "holds the key to unlocking your past".
For some reason, there's also Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection support for swapping emails, screenshots and messages with other players.
And with Rune Factory due out here in September, presumably we can expect the recently released Rune Factory 2 in about 2028.

Ok this has to be one of the biggest releases yet for the Homebrew scene, Nuke has released a Region Free Loader for your Commercial Wii Games, so now you dont need a freeloader or anything just this, in a nutshell this is the Holy Grail of Wii Homebrew releases
Heres the readme:
Gecko Region Free (v1.0) (c) NUke
Instructions:
Load boot.elf from Chain Loader. Insert any Wii Game and press reset. Enjoy your region free gaming.
Cool Additional Bonus (optional)
If you own a USB Gecko it will install a remote debugger and screenshot engine into memory and will hook. This means you can load Gecko Tool version included and grab screen shots and use the remote debugger in any Wii game. This is all done on the fly and silently, and has no effect on none USB Gecko users.
Technical Gargon:
Gecko Region Free was created with the homebrew libogc library. No certs, Tmd, Tik, Keys or other Nintendo copyright material were used or attached in the file, making it a pure homebrew release. No Datel code was used either, so please don't call this a clone etc as this and Freeloader work in completely different ways.
The decryption is done by the hardware, not in software and the correct IOS version of the game booting is selected and used. This is done by reading the information off the DVD using the low level read commands and then passed back to the starlet.
My own apploader was written, and will completely ignore the update partition, no patching is done except a region flag which is required.
This of course only works with Wii games.
Disclaimer:
Please note I take 'no' responsibility for the use of this software, If a game doesn't work you can report this in the USB Gecko forums, and I will try to fix it for the next release. It has worked on all games i've tried however I can not afford to buy all games so will need beta testers
Big Greets to the following people:
Xt5, Shagkur, Y.S, Bushing, Costis, Dhewg, Pinchy, Segher, TMBinc, brakken and tehskeen.com and all Gecko beta testers!

No big surprises here – Gamestop already let the pricing details slip out from under Nintendo's iron grip – but just as impressions of the game slash exercise peripheral are being published all over the web, the Big N has made it all official. Wii Fit (and the Wii Balance Board of course) will be released on May 19th for a suggested retail price of $89.99.
But if you're not content with just a game and balance board peripheral and you happen to reside in or around the island of Manhattan, Nintendo has a special treat for you.The first 1000 people to drop a $5 pre-order for the gear at New York City's Nintendo Word Store from April 18 - 20 will be rewarded with a Wii Fit t-shirt featuring the likeness of game designer (and weight watcher) Mr. Shigeru Miyamoto. We're really hoping he's rocking the Richard Simmons short shorts, tank top combo.

News/release from XTRminator
Greetings.
For some time, my colleague Nico (Lupini) had in mind to make a boxing game plan arcade, with the movements of the characters in the style Mutant Fighter.
The main project should be PC, but coinciding with the tutorials Silver, we have begun the version for Nintendo DS. We leave here file (download) together with the emulator Ideas. It's just a test which shows the movement of the character, and strikes by pressing A.

anomalous_underdog has again updated his Text Editor for the Nintendo DS
its only a demo, you won't be able to save/load the typed text (although I will use this program to make an actual text editor)
the vertical scrolling of text still has bugs: it will not work properly with word-wrapped lines (other than that, its working fine)
the text cursor doesn't blink yet
the upper screen is currently used for debug. in the future, that area will be used as non-monospaced text display too
cut, copy, paste of text not yet implemented
no unicode support yet
the other buttons in the gui do not do anything yet; they are conceptual
no word-wrap yet

Andy Sommerville has released an early test release of Wii Asteroids for the Nintendo Wii,
Heres the release details:
This is a work in progress, more of a snapshot than a release. I figure everyone involved in Wii homebrew wants to see the latest, before it's ready, right?
Copy the "wspr.elf" to the root directory of a FAT16-formatted SD card, renaming it "boot.elf"
You can then launch Asteroids with the Twilight Hack

Kaplan, the makers of all those test preparation books, is teaming with Aspyr Media to create an SAT prep program for the Nintendo DS. Sure, the same title will also be made available for the PC and Mac (probably just like the stuff we've seen for years), but the flashcard form factor of the DS version makes it incredibly appealing.
If high school didn't represent some of the most stressful and awkward years of my life, I'd go back in a flash to play this SAT game on my DS! Think of it as Brain Age with a real tangible result. Would you be more likely to prep for the SATs on your DS than through a book or browser?
