By the end of March 2011, Tokyo-based Hudson Soft expects operating profit of 10 billion yen ($97 million), incoming president Michihiro Ishizuka told Bloomberg in a recent interview.
Hudson's focus on Wii is already clear. In 2008, the game maker expects to release eight games for the Wii, and currently has released games including Fishing Master and Wing Island for the console. Hudson also plans to release the recently-announced Deca Sports this year.
"The game-software industry is one of the sectors that will lead corporate earnings this fiscal year,'' said Yoshihiro Okumura with Tokyo's Chiba-gin Asset Management. "In particular, companies related to Nintendo have a lot of room for profit growth.''
Aside from packaged goods, Hudson has also released several games for download on Wii, and has games in development for Nintendo's WiiWare original games service.
"Two years from now will be the time when game-software developers' profits are expected to grow the most, after the winner and loser for consoles becomes clear,'' Ishizuka said. "I will ensure earnings jump in the next three years by promoting licensing of our games and increasing spending on promotions.''
Hudson Soft is 54 percent-owned by Konami, and has other investors including Nintendo, JP Morgan Asset Management Japan and UBS AG, according to Bloomberg.

Eidos has revealed it is remaking arcade classic Gauntlet for DS.
Backbone Entertainment of Age of Kings DS fame is in charge and the game is on course for a 20th June release.
Gauntlet DS will have a co-operative focus - up to four players can battle their way through the campaign either locally or via Wi-Fi. Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch and Treasure Horde multiplayer modes are promised. Plus you'll be able to voice chat with other players using the DS's microphone or headset.
Like its arcade predecessor, Gauntlet DS will be top-down (but this time in 3D). There will be four heroes to choose from: Thor the warrior, Merlin the wizard, Thyra the Valkyrie and Questor the elf.
There are said to be around 40 maps to conquer and roughly 32 enemy types to fill them out with.

Japanese publisher AQ Interactive has unveiled a fresh rhythm game for Wii called The World of Golden Eggs: Nori Nori Rhythm-kei.
Most interestingly it's in development at Artoon, is best known for its collaborative work on role-playing game Blue Dragon.
Golden Eggs will be based around a Japanese animated series of the same name, which we have no idea about but it must have something to do with chickens.
The World of Golden Eggs: Nori Nori Rhythm-kei is due out this June in Japan. The likelihood of it appearing over here is slim.

Michoko updates homebrew LoneWolfDS - Flight From The Dark, which is also on course to be in the Top 3 of the NeoCompo. This version 1.2 adds (finally?) Mode lefthander, and modifies the fighting to be more interactive!
- Added a left-handed mode finally! I recoded many things to support this new mode, so if you find a bug, please tell me!
- Now you throw the dice manually during combats, to make them more enjoyable and add a bit of suspense.
- Fixed a screen brightness bug occuring sometimes after flashing the screen.
- Fixed a combat skill bonus bug when you had taken "MindBlast" discipline.
- Added a "Close" button to the map. Also you can now display the map by pressing START/SELECT.
- Other small fixes and improvements.

Jeff has released a new version of his Rogue clone for the Nintendo DS/GBA and also the PSP, heres whats new:
The long sought after fire arrows are finally present, self-poly into an iron golem has been further nerfed, and many bugs fixed. Most notable of the bug fixes is one to correct the gender assignment of dungeon citizens.
A method to fashion arrows from trees. (Adam Boyd)
When fire, acid, and venom balls explode it is prefixed by a definite article.
Living frosts have a higher hit die (but same hit points) which should make them more effective in combat by increasing their chance of hitting things.
Constructs, such as iron golems, no longer regenerate naturally. Note that undead are powered by unlife so still do regenerate.
New item: fire arrows. (sf, R. Dan Henry, Beefhaze)
Knock is now a ranged spell and can close doors as well as open them. (Brendan)
[SDL] If you were near the very top or very left of the map, the on screen keyboard would draw with the letters not lined up with the key wells. (Eilu)
Gold beetles are now properly aggressive when hostile.
[DS] A VBlank wait is added to the sleep routine so even less power should be consumed when the lid is closed. (Robert)
intervene has an r. (Oohara Yuuma)
Two new rooms.
The golden tridude is as big as they come, not as bit as they come. (Eilu)
Those in wizard mode can create any room template.
If you are wearing a non-ring that grants missing finger, you are now allowed to still equip a ring provided you have zero rings equipped.
After answering the question too many times I've broken down and flagged most items as not being equippable as a stack. So, no more wielding two warhammers in one hand. Thrown weapons can be equipped as a stack to allow you to get more mileage out of enchant weapon scrolls. (Ben Shadwick, Bill, TemporalParadox, many more)
Failure to swap with creatures in pits or underwater properly uses the creatures pronoun. (Eilu)
When I added the ability to chose your gender, I accidentally had your choice also affected the gender of every creature in the dungeon. This has now been fixed so creatures will now have their correct gender assigned. (Eilu)
Character dump tells you if Wizard mode is activated.
Character dump tells you how many times you've save scummed.
Character dump includes your score on death or victory.
Changed the scoring method for ascensions to penalize based on how long it took you to win. The goal is to save the world, not just self-improvement.
Your last gender selection is saved with your last name so the new game gender choice will match the new game name choice.
Thrown artifact weapons were always [-2] to hit. Now all artifacts properly inherit their base item's to hit bonus and can have an additional bonus due to being artifacts.
Flaming swords no longer have a [+1] bonus to hit. They are cool enough without such a thing.
Display of weapon damage will no longer show 2+1 for a 2d1+1 weapon and instead show merely 3.

Wii Duplicated Channel Remover v2
How it works:
ISO: Just burn the ISO of your Wii region and load it.
ELF: Just load the ELF of your Wii region with the Twilight Hack.
Notes:
- Use the specific version for your Wii. Use the version for another region will remove the real channels.
- v2 works even if v1 has been used before.
- This remove channels completely so if you use this app and you update your Wii's firmware, there's no possibility of brick.

The GC linux team have released a new version of Wii-linux heres the release details:
Thanks to the bits of information collected and made public by the wiibrew.org and libogc communities we have been able to write a block driver to use SD cards through the Nintendo Wii front SD card slot. The driver provides read /write support and performance is fine (2.1 MB/s reads on my normal SD cards) compared to the classic SD card adapter driver. As in the last posts, we have released a new version of the wii-linux Proof of Concept ( http://downloads.sourceforge.net/gc-...PoC-0.3.tar.gz) to show our progress in the kernel side. Now the door is open for more promising stuff...

The American gaming magazine Nintendo Power is running a poll in their latest issue to find out what classic games gamers would most like to see appear on the Wii Virtual Console. Once the results are in the magazine will publish the Top 100 most requested titles. Since this is Nintendo’s official magazine, the company should be paying attention, so this is your best chance to get your word in.
To quote the Nintendo magazine’s request to its readers and you: “What classic games do you want to see come to Virtual Console? Send us up to five picks (only for systems currently represented on Virtual Console) at vcpoll@futureus.com. We’ll print results in an upcoming issue. Note: This is for polling purposes only, and will in no way determine future Virtual Console releases.”
My top 5 picks I emailed are:
1. Super Mario RPG (SNES)
2. Conker’s Bad Fur Day (N64)
3. Pilotwings 64 (N64)
4. Banjo-Kazooie (N64)
5. Earthbound (SNES)
Other games I’d like to see are: Star Fox 2 (SNES), Earthbound 64 (N64), Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon (N64), Space Station Silicon Valley (N64), Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island (SNES), Super Smash Bros. (N64), Super Mario Kart (SNES), Ninja Gaiden Trilogy (SNES), Zombies Ate My Neighbors (SNES), Super Mario Allstars (SNES), Mother (NES), Little Nemo the Dream Master (NES), Batman (NES), Blast Corps and other Rare games. Before you submit your five picks, check out this Virtual Console release list that shows what games are already “coming soon”.

Nintendo's official "Iwata Asks" segment is up in which Nintendo President Satoru Iwata interview Kenichiro Ashida, Hideki Konno and Shigeru Miyamoto about Mario Kart Wii. Fans of the series will enjoy the interview that's chock full of "(laughs)" from the Nintendo insiders. But what's particularly interesting is their discussion about Wii Wheel development. They spill some interesting factoid, like that they tested roughly 30 different prototypes. Some were not white, some were not perfectly round.
No matter your opinions may be of the Wii Wheel, the design process is always an interesting one. And these Iwata interview sessions always feel so happy that you've gotta wonder whether or not these guys are really kicking back with some cigars and a nice bottle of single malt scotch.

Looks like Square Enix is at long last set to officially include webizens in its hype machine for Valkyrie Profile DS. The company opened up a teaser Japanese website for the game today, which can be accessed at ValkyrieProfile.com.
The site doesn't have much in the way of content, but there is a high quality streaming teaser trailer. While it doesn't contain any gameplay footage, it should whet your appetite for more details to hopefully follow in the coming weeks.

According to recent sales numbers released by Enterbrain, which tracks sales of videogames in Japan, Nintendo's little white console outsold all others in March. Approximately 265,542 Wii consoles were sold during the month compared to 81,579 PS3 systems.
Since the platform launched last year, Nintendo has been unable to keep Wii systems on store shelves – in Japan, America and Europe. According to company executives on all sides, Wii hardware shortages are expected at least for the next several months as the company continues to ramp up supply.
Sony dropped the price of PlayStation 3 in Japan a couple of months ago, which led to a temporary surge in sales, enabling it to outperform Wii for the first and only time since Nintendo's console debuted.

A lonely, lonely week for the Virtual Console, with just Yoshi's Cookie offered up for download on Nintendo Wii's retro service.
It's one of those games where things fall out of the sky and you're tasked with arranging them neatly in order, and it's bared its cheeky vestige across the breadth of Nintendo's hardware, originally appearing on the NES before moving over to the SNES and Game Boy, and most recently popping up on the GameCube's Nintendo Puzzle Collection. The asking price is the standard NES rate of 500 Wii points, or £3.50 if you're thinking in Earth terms.
Virtual Console European Releases, April 4
NES - 500 Wii Points
Yoshi's Cookie (1994)

Telltale Games has revealed that the detective duo is on its way to Wii. But we kind of knew that anyway...
The title will be a compilation of the downloadable episodes from the series' first season, originally released in 2006.
It will be published by Austrian publisher JoWooD, who previously announced the project in January only for Telltale to then refute it. It's usually the other way around in our experience.
Telltale games are also working on something for WiiWare, but has denied any connection to Sam & Max.
After all this fuzz over Sam & Max though, we'd have to see screens of an all new game before we'd believe them. Episodes from Sam & Max season two on WiiWare sounds like a sure-fire hit.
In related news, Telltale Games showed off the final episode of season two yesterday, sending us some screens and videos as a teaser. Sam & Max fans are sure to be interested, so hit the link.

Ubisoft has snagged the distribution rights to Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword and will be releasing it here in June.
This pocket-ninja adventure has been specially made for the handheld by Tecmo and has things like stylus controls and purpose-built 3D graphics from the future, as well as a fresh story and lots of action.
It looks like - judging by the screenshots and not the position of the sun - you will be playing it all with the DS in a book-like orientation, too.
Dragon Sword was released at the end of March in the US and has been well received. It has a Metacritic average of 83 per cent and has picked up praise for capturing the spirit of the series, although some claimed it was a bit easy.
