Here comes the debeu of the DCStruct engine!
The DCStruct is an engine for text-based games that I originally tried to make in DarkBasic. When that failed, I shelved the project for awhile, until I thought, 'Wouldn't this be perfect for the DS?'.
This DEMO is the first game and marks the first version of the engine that works fully. I intent to improve it in the future, but now I can finally start making games.
ALSO:
I am at this very moment working on a level editor. That is not far off.
I welcome ideas as to what game I should make with this. Although I can polish the engine, I am still only a code junkie, and my creativity will not suffice to populate the thousands of dungeons in store.
To refresh the screen, press Start. This is pretty useless for now, but it will be needed for debugging later.
To access the debug menu, press Select. That will read out a bunch of odd numbers that only I understand. You can't modify the values yourself yet, but in the future users can use this to fix their game or use cheat codes. XP
I regreat to say that all text within this game was spaced myself, with appropriate \n marks. If some text trails off the screen, or something is misspelled or mis-highlighted, please post with a description of the error, and a read-out of the debug menu.
If something does not act like it should, please post with the debug information as stated above. For example, if the text says a trapdoor appeared, when it in fact did not, that would be a good example of when to post.
I will post a walkthrough as soon as I figure out how to hide it so as not to spoil anything...

New update for the Wrapper for N64 emulators
Heres whats new since our last news:
Update 7.
- Fix for motion blur (thanks Hacktarux for help!)
- Fix for bugs caused by previous fix
- Legend ini fix for Mario Kart
- Hacktarux build of the wrapper with dithered alpha fixed
- mudlord test program added to Test folder.
Update 8.
Wrapper: Fixed chromakey again, Space Invaders shield problem is fixed (Hacktarux). Fixed resolution problem when switched to fullscreen and back. Fixed high resolution problem, thanks to mudlord! Now you can set any resolution you want.
Plugin: Fixed bugs caused by previous fixes
Update 9.
Wrapper: Added support for monochrome texture buffers (dynamic shadows, black-and-white cut scenes). Hacktarux created yet another miracle
Added support for high resolutions (mudlord’s fix).
Update 10.
-recent fixes by mudlord and KoolSmoky
-textures load optimization by KoolSmoky
-user-defined VRAM size by Gonetz.
The last option should boost performance on video cards with large amount of memory.
Default value is 64mb. If your card has more memory, set correct value. If you are not sure, how much memory your card has, don’t touch it. Auto detection of available video memory is not working yet.
This is rather experimental build, so please backup previous version of the wrapper.
Update 11.
-manual VRAM size set is replaced by an automatic one, by mudlord. DX API is used for that, so it is Windows only solution. Still experimental, so keep older versions too.

News from the The Moon Books Project
For the fourth week in a row we are giving away a DS Lite skin, courtesy of Game Face Graphics. This week we are giving away their 'Snake' skin, which is one of their new additions.
Other than that we have added a couple new movies this week, and completed a classic series of Sonny Chiba martial arts films. Below is a list of what's new:
First off, we have a Moon Shell theme created by one of our users, made specifically for ease of use while reading books on the DS.
Secondly, The film They Came From Beyond Space. The plot goes as follows: Scientists investigating an unusual meteor shower in a rural field are possessed by an alien force bent on an ulterior purpose.
Last, and my personal favorite is the release of The Street Fighters Final Revenge. This Sonny Chiba film completes the series of Street Fighter martial arts films. Note, this has nothing to do with the Capcom series of games, and is not for the squemish.

With JoyDS you can use your DS as a wireless Joypad for PC. It’s a Client-Server App, where DS is the Client and PC is the Server. The Client gets input from the DS and sends to server in UDP packets. The server receives the input and uses PPJoy to emulate the Joystick. JoyDS emulates a real Joystick, no keyboard or mouse. You don’t have to configure nothing inside PPJoy, the Server does all the hard work for you. It also has some cool features like Button Sequences and Multiple Consoles. You need .NET Framework 2.0 to run the Server.

MAG Loader is a new shipper file ELF and DOL developed by me (MAG / PiratePila) and AntonioND. With this homebrew can have more than one on your SD ELF which means you can choose where you want to load without having to walk connecting the card to the PC and renaming files. One very useful tool for anyone who wants adentrar at the scene Wii.
Uses
Using this application is quite simple, just has to follow these steps and run to perfection;
1) Make sure you have the SD card formatted in FAT/FAT16.
2) Extract the file MAG_Loader.rar (which you can download below).
3) Rename the file magloader.elf to boot.elf and copy it to the root of the SD. It also creates a folder called elf (same root), this folder will need to put all the ELF and DOL you want bear MAG Loader.
4) Insert the SD in the Wii and the burden boot.elf since the channel homebrew or twilight hack, and you enjoy all your ELF in Wii.

Nuvalo who released the first version of his port of MFE the media player to the Nintendo Wii via Wii Linuc has released a new test version, heres what he posted:
Hi everyone . I was tryng to see how to solve those problems, but seems hard to find out. I post here the source code, for those who wants to take a look and try to help to solve the problems:
http://rapidshare.com/files/10658157...c.tar.bz2.html
I compiled a newer version of mplayer and some libraries, to see it it solves any problem, but seems to have more problems than the old version. I also added some features:
Download: testv1
It is a test version, to see if works better or worst:
http://www.nacionarcade.net/wp-conte...-11-testv1.zip
And the new features:
- Solved the problems with the pad
- Mount/umount SD: Press R for 2 seconds, take out the sdcard, insert a new one and pres R again
- Reset the console: (int the older version works too, i didn't noticed of that, sorry :P) Hold Z from MFE menu and in a few seconds it will reboot.
- Added 32MB of swap in MEM2 (I thought that the videos that does not show anything was a problem of memory, but it does nothing...)

Stravingo has today released what could be one of the biggest Homebrew releases of the year, basically its a Sims Homebrew type game for DS:
Heres the translated details
I have spoken in my previous article Miniville phenomenon, which made me discover my nephew Samuel last January. It's an online game launched there less than a year by Twin Motion (there are 291 days precisely at the time of this article) whose goal is to develop quoted from a shack lost in the campaign until to sprawling megacities extending their asphalt and concrete on several screens. The game has already met with a very great success as more than 1.5 million cities were created so far! A real social phenomenon, therefore, which makes a lot of pub to their designers (proof, I am in the process of making, there).
It's finally all the more surprising that the concept is very simple, there is very little control over a city. Everything is done by assaying carefully 6 ingredients: population, industry, transport, security, the environment and trade. All these ingredients are not available immediately. Initially, you have the possibility of increasing the population, but other actions to unlock as your population grows. Apart from these 6 levers of action, you have no other option to act on the town! It is not possible for instance to place buildings, building roads as you like, finely manage all kinds of resources. Unlike a Sim City, which plays the card of a strategy quite complex, which by itself is enough "elitist" Miniville is actually a game very simple, very concept stripped, and this probably makes success. It is a kind of urban tamagotchi, that we look evolve almost alone, with very little means of action.
An important part of the concept is that it is possible to increase one of the 6 ingredients only once a day, by visiting a Web page 6 for the 6 ingredients on which we want to act . For example, to the city Nexville will utilize the following links:
Increase population: http://nexville.miniville.fr
Increase Industry: http://nexville.miniville.fr/ind
Increasing transport http://nexville.miniville.fr/tra
Increased security: http://nexville.miniville.fr/sec
Increase the environment: http://nexville.miniville.fr/env
Increasing shops: http://nexville.miniville.fr/com
And it is here that designers Miniville were very strong: each city is classified according to its wealth, and the goal of the players is to continuously improve their ranking. Since it is only possible to vote once a day for one of the 6 ingredients of a city, communities of players have been formed to help each other, vote for the other cities to make forward together much faster their stats. Clans are created, very active forums bring together the many addicted to this game, municipal ballots can be exchanged messages on each city, it's very nice. But there is also a dark side, Antiville, which allows you to sign petitions to send missiles into cities when the required number of signatures is reached. In short, the victims are cities in the lead ... And your personal enemies!
Well, here for the scenery. If I speak of Miniville, it is not because I fell in the virtual drugs, contrary to several hundreds of thousands of Internet users who follow daily developments in their cities. And attention, it's not necessarily a game for a kid, because there are players of all ages on forums devoted to Miniville, and even some fathers and great grandmothers!
No, if I am talking about is that I started developing a tool for Nintendo DS, pompously called Miniville DS Manager, which tracks at any time changing your Miniville and those of others to vote daily for a 6 ingredients of a city, to consult with municipal newsletter, send a signature antiville, all this without having to go in front of a computer. The idea is to make all these actions anywhere, whether on the street, at school, at work, in a restaurant, if there is a WiFi connection. The consultation and the various processes were then in a few seconds, without having to wait for a computer starts up, or your little sister (or your grandparents, the coup) loose the PC.
Let me point out that all graphics are the property of Motion Twin (plus a drawing of Matt Groening), I shamelessly ripped from their website, but it was in my opinion retain the same graphic chart so that the players are found.
Why then such a thing, some will wonder? Well this utility is intended for those who want at any time know the state of their city, those who can not leave the eye, which are already addicted. This tool will somehow liberate them, because they will no longer have to remain stuck at home in front of the computer screen. They will be able to highlight, going to see friends, the DS in the pocket their time to tell others how will their city.
But this utility is intended also to those who want to go very fast, know their stats at a glance, easily vote for a list of favourite cities, without any constraints of the computer (to be home, the computer must be available, slow ignition, and so on.).
In short, here's version 0.1 of Miniville DS Manager after a few days of development. It is possible for the moment to consult the stats of a city whatsoever, managing a list of favourite cities to act on the 6 ingredients, to send a signature antiville (hidden feature, you find it). It is not yet possible to see the rankings, the newsletter or municipal map, but it will come in the following versions. A Twin motion that has subsequently launched MyMiniCity, which extends to the whole world. Future releases of Miniville DS Manager will also allow management minicity.

Jeep Consumer Products adds “Jeep Thrills” by Destination Software Incorporated (DSI) to its exciting range of products. Destination Software Incorporated (DSI) new “Jeep Thrills” video game, designed to bring the Jeep vehicles’ “have fun out there” attitude into the home, will drive into retailers nationwide this summer and will be available for the Wii for $29.99 and the PlayStation 2 for $9.99. The deal was brokered by The Joester Loria Group, the exclusive worldwide licensing agent for the Jeep brand.
The “Jeep Thrills” game brings the excitement of intense off-road racing into the home while incorporating the rugged style and attitude quintessential of the Jeep lifestyle. Players can choose from nearly 20 Jeep vehicles ranging from the classic World War II body style of the Willys, to the more recent Jeep Wrangler and Compass, to action-oriented concept cars. Multi-player racing allows two players to compete head-to-head on more than 30 outdoor courses through hilled jungles and frozen tundra.
“’JeepThrills’ delivers off road thrills and excitement that can only be experienced in the most capable off road vehicle. Destination Software has done a terrific job bringing the Jeep off road experience to video game play,” stated Debra Joester, President and CEO of The Joester Loria Group.
“Video game racing is a genre that attracts imitators, but the Jeep brand screams authenticity,” says Bruce Kain, DSI’s Vice President of Operations. “There is nothing more synonymous with off-road excitement than the Jeep brand, and this is an ideal partnership for an intense, four-wheeling racer.”

There's word that cheaters (you bastards!) are apparently moving in full force on Mario Kart Wii. Either that, or there's a bug. The Time Trials mode is getting hit hardest with all sorts of impossible times appearing. According to Mercurys Phoenix at the Official Nintendo Magazine forums writes:
I've only seen it on the Snowboard track - a guy with a time of 53 point something or other seconds. There are about three other people with exactly the same time. Like others have said, on the replay the guy just does one lap (excrutiatingly slowly) and then turns the opposite way just after the finish line. Then the replay doesn't stop.
Personally, I think its a bug. I've only seen it on one track and there are others with the same time.
So... Maybe a bug, maybe cheaters. Either way, bummer.

Ok here it is, I believe this to be the penultimate version of Shooting Watch DS and probably the final version that I will release (unless you lot find more bugs for me to fix). I have attempted to combat the sprite issue found in version 2.2 (thanks to rush68 for pointing that one out) and have also tweaked a few things I found myself, read below to see exactly what has changed. As always you can grab the download from the Shooting Watch DS homepage linked at the base of this post.
I hope I have fixed everything but if anything does crop up, let me know and I will try to fix it. I really want to get on with my next project which has actually been in slow development since before I started coding Shooting Watch DS. If you don't know what it is, all you have to do is take a look around DS-Scene and there is a blatant hint as to what is coming. I hope to release a demo of that for you soon
What's New?
** Version History **
v2.3
Attempted to fix sprites error "Sorry, there just seems to not be enough place to put all your sprites !!". This should be OK now.
Fixed music bug in "Slots" modes.
Fixed music bug in "Audio Test" mode.
Fixed music bug in "Enter Nick" mode.
Added option to turn music off in "Audio Test" Mode
Added note to WiFi Transfer mode that you can press Start button to cancel.

Xplosiv has fired us six brand new screenshots for its Ford franchise offshoot called Off Road.
The screenshots show off vehicles from the Land Rover brand, which appear in the series for the first time and signal a more rural, direction for the series.
In Off Road, you can race up to eighteen officially licensed Land Rover and Ford vehicles over twenty-four tracks that span desert, water and ice. We're not sure how you go about racing on water, but we're looking forward to seeing footage of that. Still, the screenshots look pretty promising.
The Wii version of Ford Off Road comes out in Q2 this year. So sometime between now and August, then.
