bassacegold has posted some WIP News concerning his Zelda game for the DS:
Well, I’ve been putting a little work into the game lately and its getting pretty far through. So far I have only 19 more things to achieve + bug fixes before the Overworld is completed!
—–Overworld—–
—weapons—
-Finish off items(sub items too ie. raft)
-fix enemy collision to all items and damage
-re-write AI handling
-add in all the caves with the old man and their scripts
—graphics—
-add in new overworld graphics
-add in new enemy graphics
-add/fix effects for the 7th level lake revealing
-pause sprite animations when in the inventory
-add new time of day effects to bg layer 2
-add faries to fountains & healing stuff
-add item collision for all burnable bushes/bombable walls/moveable rocks/and those statue things
Its still a lot of coding but its mostly just fixing things at this point for the overworld.
The first Demo will be released (to those who donate) once the overworld part is completed which could take any where from a month or 2 or 3, just depends whats happening though cause school is taking a lot of time. Anyways I thought I’d just leave this update

Sure, you've seen the portable wooden SNES, but if you've been looking for something with more of that fresh-off-the-showroom-floor sheen, maybe you should check into this Ben Heck-forum user's design. Using a modified Polycase, dual lithium-ion batteries, a 5-inch Zenith LCD, and a whole bunch of Super Nintendo, the modder created what could easily be mistaken for a bona-fide production model. Sure, the back looks a tad bit messy, but "Life of Brian" (the SNES fan in question) has managed to squeeze in a second controller port and A/V outs -- no small feat.

SVPE has released a new version of the Front SD Elf Loader
Create an "elf" directory (all letters in lower-case, don't include quotes) on your SD card and put all your ELF files in there. Load the tp-hack-loader.elf with the twilight hack or the trucha-disc-loader.dol with a trucha signed disc.
If you want to compile it yourself you just need to type 'make' in the root directory. Precompiled elf and dol binaries are included.
The miniloader/ is just a quick hack to make this work with trucha discs because the apploader i used didn't seem to support a non-standard entry point. The real loader with the front SD code is in the loader/ directory.
When using the homebrew channel you might need to use the trucha-disc-loader.dol or build the miniloader/miniloader.elf file yourself.
v0.4
Some bugfixes
Also GizmoTheGreen released his versions of the elf loader too:
v0.35
Added the miniloader again
Now only one A press
Even more beginner friendly (error retry)
Trial, give feedback please.
v0.3
Skips double "Press A.." before file listing
If SD card or something else fails:
Start + Z reloads TP loader to try again.
Download Both Versions Via Comments and Give Feedback on Each

News/release from NoNameNo
RgbRenderer is a kind of library to help people wanting to START coding graphical RGB effect on wii.
Why RgbRenderer ?
In fact all started when i wanted to port some of my old demo effect. I discovered that the wii video RAM use a "strange" format called Y1CbY2Cr. This format is able to embed 2 pixel color definition in only 32bits. so all Pixels goes by two. so when you want to only light one you need to know if it is on a odd or even X, then encode it with the one before or after it (depend odd or even) in Y1CbY2Cr. pfffff...... More over if you want to know the color of a pixel, you have to do the same reversed ..... re pffffff.... When you code in this format you allocat an array of 320*480 (u32) often called xfb in "hello world" example around. why 320 ?? remember 2 pixels for a u32 You fill your xfb array and you make it appear at screen at a certain signal called VBL. I had a little reflexion about this method, video memory is Y1CbY2Cr, we use a Y1CbY2Cr array to prepare our drawing then display it. And here is my "little" idea. why not handle a RGB array ?? then at the VBL, convert the whole array to Y1CbY2Cr format, then push to xfb I was very septic at start, coz converting a whole screen to 640*480 pixel to Y1CbY2Cr format 50/60 per secondes was a real challenge and it was coz the converter i coded only do 1/4 of a screen per vbl.... BUT i found a kind of coded that do the job really quick !!! a whole screen is ok per vbl depending of what other job you add.

News from the maker of the Online Chess game:
Welcome to the new home of the ChessNET DS Project. This website will be your number one source for all ChessNET related news.
And for those of you who are curious, ChessNET is still under development and coming along nicely. Nearly all of the Release 1 glitches have been fixed, and many missing features have been added.
Here’s a little list of improvements that have occured so far:
New ROM Icon. It looks swanky. :>
Fixed a huge buffer error in the way ChessNET retrieved it’s data.
Added account handles and passwords.
Fixed Checkmate detection. (No more victory on check!)
Added Castling support.
I expect to have En Passant and the 50 move rule in within a few days. I’ve been fighting the new server version a little too. But keep your eyes on this page, there will be more news soon.

The Dragon and Tandy CoCo emulator for the Nintendo DS has seen a new release.
Information:
The DS port is advancing nicely. This version features interface for input configuration (though this doesn't get recorded anywhere yet, so you have to set it each time) and snapshot saving. Sound is now pretty much spot on, and video is synced to 50Hz where appropriate (DS allows its current idea of which scanline it's on to be modified). ROMs should sit in fat:/dragon/roms/ (or just fat:/dragon/). Swapping screens ('START' by default) now maps the touch screen to analogue joystick input (good for games like Katerpillar Attack).
It is built against a recent CVS checkout of libfat, so supports DLDI patching (shouldn't be required for most recent flash carts).
xroar.nds - v0.20f3 slot 1 binary.
xroar.ds.gba file - v0.20f3 slot 2 binary - untested.

Square-Enix has released a new version of its WiiWare title Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King, which incorporates a downloadable content store selling a bunch of new additions for 1400 Wii points (£10).
The game, which already costs 1500 Wii points to download, now charges 800 points for three new races, 300 points for houses that produce new quests, 100 points for new outfits, 200 points for a shrine that buffs warriors and 100 points for a house that people can live in.
According to Game Life, the amount of memory blocks required by the content also calls into question how much of it is already built into the game.
A new outfit takes up three blocks, for example, but an entire race of people needs only one.
Will Europeans face the same pricing structures - which seem steep if you take into account how much the original game costs - that the Japanese are dealing with at the moment? Or will Europeans even get the opportunity to play a WiiWare title this year? As always, a release date for the service has yet to be announced.

Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu has given Mario Kart Wii an impressive score of 10/9/9/9 in its review, according to German website GameFront.de.
For those not up to scratch with their maths, the scores tot up to 37/40, which is slightly more generous than some reviewers have so far awarded it.
In particular, Mario Kart Wii received a tad less from NGamer, which gave it 88% and stated: "There's plenty here to make up for the disappointment of local multiplayer, but it does stop short of magnificence."
To make up your own mind, if you're European you can pick up a copy next Friday. Unfortunately, US readers will have to wait until April 27.

Label conscious Nintendo fans will want to perk up their ears and check their credit card balances, as the Baby Milo by A Bathing Ape limited edition Nintendo DS has been released. It retails for 16800 yen (now about $167), but we wish you great luck in securing one at that price. The newly revamped (and finally usable) Bape web site lists the item at its standard price, but Bape reseller Boboshop is selling the white version for an impressive 44940 yen. That translates to about $447 US if you're considering it.
You may want to call in a big favor to a friend in Japan to see if there are any left at the official Bape stores. No word yet on whether it's available at the New York, London or other Asian locations. And that gold version? I'm betting it's just shy of impossible to get.
