The best news on the Wii front since the imminent arrival of the Wii MotionPlus add-on for the Wii's remote is today's revelation that Nintendo is going to keep the cost of the MotionPlus down.
According to the latest from Nintendo's president, Satoru Iwata, the company is aiming to keep the cost of the peripheral so low so that people can afford to buy them for all of their Wiimotes.
He told the WSJ:
"There will be games that will be enhanced by the Wii MotionPlus as well as games that can only be played with it. Users will need four if they have four controllers, but we're going to try to offer it for as little as possible. We haven't announced the price yet, but the cost of making the Wii MotionPlus is not that much, so I think we can make it very affordable."
Wii MotionPlus clicks onto the bottom of the Wiimote to greatly improve the responsiveness of the controller on-screen. It makes it far more accurate and promises instant response between your swishing arm and what happens in the game.

Importers of the Japanese Wii game Fatal Frame IV are reporting a number bugs have made the final release of the game, including one that locks the game up.
According to posters on NeoGaf, the game locks up when a certain condition is triggered, entries in the game database are blank and an extra option available only after competition can not be selected.
Nintendo of Japan has responded to the problem, but unfortunately we can't read Japanese. If you're better than us and went to more than two of your Kanji lessons, try reading it here.
Fatal Frame IV is currently without both a European or US release date. Hopefully if we see it over here they'll use the extra time to patch it up too.

Empire Interactive has revealed that Hello Kitty: Big City Dreams is on its way to the DS.
Billed as a mini-game adventure, the title follows Kitty in her recent move to the big city.
Kitty's ultimate goal is to own a top-floor penthouse apartment, which she's going to get by collecting Friendship Points. If only it was that easy Kitty. We'll have to try that on our landlord at the end of the month.
These points are collected by helping Sanrio characters like Badtz-Maru, Pochacco and My Melody and even some new friends. My Melody needs some fashion advice, Tuxedosam needs a waitress and Kerropi's Arcade Hero score needs to be beat.
After a stressful day, players must take Kitty on a night out to get plastered and find her crush Daniel Star at Destination: Dance. Seriously. Well, apart from the getting plastered part.
Hello Kitty: Big City Dreams hits DS this autumn.

An adventure game based on the popular 'Hardy Boys' book series will be coming to the Wii.
The game, already in development for PC, is titled Hardy Boys: The Hidden Theft and follows the pair as they investigate the burglary of the Spencer Mansion vault.
Predictably for adventure games, the boys soon find themselves in the middle of a major criminal investigation.
Jesse McCartney and Cody Linley will voice The Hardy Boys, who appeared in boy band Dreamstreet and television series Hannah Montana respectively. We desperately feel dated as we have no idea who these people are, even after looking on Wikipedia.
Expect The Hardy Boys: The Hidden Theft in Q2 of next year.

Konami says DS island survival sequel-sequel Lost in Blue 3 will be here in October.
We reviewed the game on US import earlier this year and stamped 7/10 at the bottom.
"The Lost in Blue series is still the most compelling and realistically punishing take on the excitement and hardships of survival on a desert island that videogames have to offer," we said.
Konami also confirmed Castlevania - Order of Ecclesia for European release on DS this Christmas.
This has 20 levels before you face off with Dracula, plus Wi-Fi madness where you can not only fight friends but trade with them.

News/release from Hell Hibou:
I just put online version 0.7 of Wii Homebrew Launcher has the following changes:
Adding sound a channel (a thank you Zenome and TGames)
Using libfat
Support for long file names
Cleaning the source code and rewrite in C + +
The bug display mode 60Hz with RGB cable is fixed
In the file "system.ini", the parameter VideoMode no longer supported
Adding a theme selector
Changing the light effect when access the SD card
The icons of the channels appear as a measure of loading
Support SDgecko (beta)
Check if the files fraud and elf are valid before launch
If a chain has no icon, the name will appear in the icon
The default language is English
The reset button menu brings the Wii (since the interface only)
Various small corrections
Adding a 'ROM loader' (beta): Passage of a command line with the path of the Homebrew Roma via function 'main (int argc, char ** argv)' for homebrew created with DevkitPro> = 1.4 .7
At the start, you arrive at a list of channels. One lets you homebrew as previous versions, 2nd lets you homebrew found in the APPS directory, in order to be compatible with 'Homebrew Browser' and not having to move homebrew directory APPS HOMEBREW the directory for launch.
Topics A chain was added to select the theme to use. Several themes are included in the archive. A note however that if the theme contains a music form, it will be taken into account after the restart Hoembrew.
The support has been added SDgecko but has not been tested. Although this feature can only interest, the technique used should allow in the future to add other sources that the (s) SDgecko and FrontSD for loading homebrew.
In addition a chain Emulators was added, the latter is to list the Roma disonibles emulator for a specific and launch rom directly from the interface. It is a sort of personal version of the 'virtual console'. However, this requires some modifications to the emulator. That is why a version of the emulator RIN is included in the installation package. I took the opportunity to add support for the Wiimote and the classic lever. You can assign an icon to the Roma in the same manner as for a hombrew hands donant the same name in the image as the Roma (with an extension PNG or BMP). For developers wishing to integrate Wii Homebrew Launcher their emulator, a demonstration program is available under 'Downloads' and the sources of emulation RIN. The passage of argument is via the 'main (int argc, char ** argv)' and recovering values as any program in C. This is valid with a version of DevKitPro> = 1.4.7 or libOGC> = 20080602.Cependant, I was under an obligation to separate the various parameters by a tab character because I'm not happened to separate the various parameters (I do not know if there is a specific procedure that I do not know or do not know if libOGC simply not manage multiple parameters). This problem was solved by creating a small library included in the example 'emulator_argv' available under 'Downloads'. For installation, nothing more simple, cut your Game Boy Color Roma in the directory / EMULATOR / NIR / ROMS.
Finally, be aware that the Wiimote pointer was not implemented: the use of this feature due to freez the console for a few seconds. So I preferred to turn off the pointer. The function allows the return of the Homebrew loader still does not work (she is planting the Wii).

Newly released at import specialists Play Asia:
Linbaum used to be a paradise, it was saturated with a nurturing power which gives life to the world. However, it is precisely because of this energy which attracts the onslaught of invaders. To battle these foreign forces, the inhabitants of Linbaum are born with either one of these two powers, summoning, or repatriation. By utilizing their strengths, they successfully stopped the invasions.
However, power brings corruption. After the war with the invaders ended, the people used their powers against each other and soon Linbaum fell.
After centuries, the chaos reached a new height and the war of the colorless factions happened. When things finally settled down, the blue faction realized that they have brought up a summoner amongst them. Perhaps the faction leaders were taking their history lessons to heart, they have sent the summoner on a journey as a form of alienating and exiling him/her.
However, without taking his/her treatment to heart, the young summoner set off to his/her adventures.
The game is split into chapters, and each chapter contains an adventure part where the player talks to various characters to advance the plot and/or buy weapons and items to prepare themselves for the battle. After every battle there is the nightly chat session where you build up bonds with the characters around you.
Choose to have a conversation with a character of your choice. These parts decide the ending of the game and the person you end up with.

There's something about this week's update to the Wii's Virtual Console that just seems off. Maybe it's the odd partnering of a blue marsupial and a lumber-swinging madman, or perhaps it's the noticeable absence of Samurai Shodown II, which SNK said last week would be among this morning's additions. While you work out some conspiracy theories, let's take a look at what new oldies are available.
Sonic the Hedgehog (Sega Master System, 500 Wii Points): While Sega's 16-bit original has been available for download for a long while, Sonic's 8-bit port changes things up with a handful of new stages, gameplay differences, and cruddier graphics.
Splatterhouse 2 (Sega Genesis, 800 Wii Points): There's many ways that we could spend our time waiting to slip on the Terror Mask and bash demons' brains out in Namco Bandai's Splatterhouse redux, but really, what better way is there than to play through the arcade original's 16-bit sequel? The only right answer here is none.
