Neat hat on a clever noggin news now, with EA announcing Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure (working title), a platformer/puzzler for the Nintendo DS. Developed by an EA Tiburon team under the publisher's Casual Entertainment label, Hatsworth hopes to fuse the "action of an adventure game with the challenge of a puzzle game," with players switching between "action-platform" screens and "the increasingly challenging puzzle world."
EA promises over 30 levels and five "exotic" worlds for the geriatric genius to explore, complete with power ups, enemies and "outrageous world-ending bosses." The game's executive producer, Scott Walker, describes it as "an incredibly unique game" that you "won't want to put down" once it ships in 2009 -- which either means it's very good, or it has some sort of explosive detonator strapped to the back of the cartridge.

Gusec has updated Mastermind DS, heres his release news:
It's Mastermind, a codebreaking boardgame!
I've finally completed my first game to the DS, with PAlib.
It may still host a bug or two, so report if you find any!
Rules
The rules are simple;
You should in eight attempts , try to guess the order and colour of four marbles, to your help you get stars each turn.
Silver tells you that one of your marbles has the right colour but not the right position,
and gold tells you that one of your marbles both has the right colour and the right place.
It's up to you to find the right code with the hints you get!
Information about this version
I've tried to make it as stable as possible, though it's my first attempt!
I'm going to improve the flow of the game, and maybe add a couple of functions, like a better HighScore-list or some unlockables.
This is still an early version. So if you find anything weird, please let me know and I'll try and fix it!
Secrets are none so far, besides one little easter egg that may occur if you lose...
It contains three different levels of difficulty, from easy to almost impossible, so it should contain enough challenge.
Level-setting reachable via Start, and HighScore-list (new game here to), Select.
* 1.02 - Fixed memory flaws and slow graphics.
* 1.03 - Improved sprite management. Version number added to description.
* 1.20 - Fixed, brighter graphics, faster flow. Highscorelist added!
* 1.22 - Stability - check! (+ flashing HighScore-row)

Leinad has released a new version of DSBash for the NeoFlash Coding Contest, heres the full release info:
Project description: With DSBash you can browse trough chat-quote-archives.
Actualy supported: bash.org [atm down but I hope they come back -_-] , qdb.us and german-bash.org
It's a 99% recode of the last version >.<
Note: bash.org seems to be down atm... I hope its back online asap, but while its down, you can use qdb.us instead. So dont say "hey I see the menu and nothing happens"... Bash.org isnt my page, I just love it and coded the reader, im not responsible for the pages the browser supports~
Changelog:
- Skinning added
- Auto Detecting for the DSBash folder, Put it anywhere you want to
- DLDI isnt required anymore, if you dont patch it, it uses the skin inside the rom
- german-bash.org and qdb.org added
- Screens can be switched now
- hundred times faster - removed mass of useless VBLs during download process
- massive speedup, because now 50[bash.org], 20[qdb.org], 5[german-bash random], 50[german-bash latest] quotes which are on a downloaded page are stored in the ram and can be browsed without downloading a new page every quote.
- Removed the "save to favo.txt" and bookmark function, they were so useless. Also I dont like the risk to harm the card with mass-dldi read/writes
- Buttons can be configured now
- German only - Special characters are "translated" to ae,oe,ue now
- You can change the font size while reading now (If a quote doesnt fit on the screen )
- You now can define the minimum vote value for Top-Mode in your config file [Standart / No-DLDI = 0, so no negative voted quotes are shown]
Howto[for those to lazy to doubleclick on README]
Quote
Quickstart:
Configure WIFI with any official WiFi game like Mario Kart DS.
Copy DSBash.nds to your DS and start it.
If you dont want to use skinning or manual button configuration you dont need to patch it with DLDI.
Skinning & Advanced configuration:
To use this you have to patch the rom with DLDI or your card has to support auto-DLDI patching.
Copy the "DSBash" folder inside this archive to your card.
[Put it there you want to... the application will search on the card for the folder]
DON'T RENAME IT! The app will explicit search for "DSBash".
Inside that folder there is a config.ini , open it in an editor.
Edit the config file as you want, I've put comments to everything, I hope they are understandable...
Note: For every skin you have to open a new tag
[skinname]
And then write the config for it (like the blacknwhite one)
If a skin-file is set wrong the skin inside the ROM is used.
To change the activated skin you have to edit
skin = blacknwhite;
on the top in the config file. So you can keep more than one skin-configuration in the file.
@Pictures: It has to be in the bmp format, 24bit or 8bit.
If you dont use the configuration file, here the standart button-config:
Up/Down: Next/Previos quote
A = Switch the screens
Select = Reduce font size
Start = Increase font size
Top quote / random quote / Latest quotes = Not defined. the standart buttons are very big

Crediar has released a new version of his Menu hack for the Wii that enables Region Free Wii and Gamecube although used wrongly can brick your Wii:
Starfall, formerly HackInstaller, is an application developed by Crediar to patch the system menu to include new features.
Installation
Just run the application with the Twilight hack or Homebrew channel, or any other prefered method. Follow the on-screen instructions from there.
Information
These hacks only work with the System Menu 3.2E(v290) or 3.2U(v289). If you have any other version, it will just return to the loader.
This tool does not update any SHA1 hashes or signatures. Currently IOS isn't checking those, but that could be fixed in a future update.
Just load it and carefully read the on screen stuff otherwise you won't be able to install it.
All hacks are optional and can be installed or removed separately.
The Rescue Menu is a built-in menu by Nintendo, it doesn't make your Wii unbrickable. If you install another System Menu, all hacks will be removed.
Your System Menu will only be patched, it won't be deleted. This makes the patch progress very brick safe.
New features
Replace healthwarning with backmenu
Skip disc update check
Features
Region free GC games with video mode patch
Region free Wii games
Region free channels
No mainmenu BGM
Start rescue-menu when Y is held on 1st GC controller
Remove rescue-menu diagnostic disc check
Coming Soon
Wii region free with video patch
Copy 'nocopy' savefiles
more to come

August 12th, 2008, 19:07 Posted By: wraggster
A new computer game tipped to be the most violent ever is being released exclusively on the so-called 'family friendly' Wii console.
Nintendo will dramatically transform Wii's image with the release of ultra violent video game MadWorld which, 'revolves around the themes of brutality and exhilaration', according to its creators.
Players in the 'hack and slash' game, which is due for a UK release in early 2009, can impale enemies on road signs, rip out hearts and execute them with weapons including chainsaws and daggers.
The decision to release a violent game on a console which has based its reputation on family fun has shocked anti-violence pressure groups.
The game has not yet been given an age rating.
Mediawatch-UK, Britains longest running pressure group campaigning for decency in TV, films and games, said MadWorld will 'spoil' the Wii.
John Beyer, director of Mediawatch-uk, said: 'This game sounds very unsavoury.
'I hope the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) will view this with concern and decide it should not be granted a classification.
'Without that it cannot be marketed in Britain. What the rest of world does is up to them.
We need to ensure that modern and civilized values take priority rather than killing and maiming people.
'It seems a shame that the game's manufacturer have decided to exclusively release this game on the Wii.
'I believe it will spoil the family fun image of the Wii.'
Nintendo's Wii has enjoyed phenomenal success as an innocent alternative to complex - and often violent - role play video games.
With a repatoire of mostly sports games the basic graphics and easy-to-use motion sensor remotes have become hugely popular with young children and families.
MadWorld is significant departure designed to appeal to 'hardcore' gamers who they claim have been clammering for a more adult theme action game.
MadWorld is a third person game where players control a character called Jack in a virtual world called Varrigan City which is under siege by a group of terrorists known as The Organizers.
The alternative world has been turned into a twisted game show called Death Watch where citizens must kill one another to survive - and win.
The action in MadWorld - developed by PlatinumGames and published by Sega exclusively for Nintendo - is entirely in black and white. The only other colour is red for all the blood.
Players use the Wii remote to control the violent on-screen actions as central character Jack executes his way through the game.
A press release on the Sega website says: 'You play as Jack, whos caught up in the terror of Death Watch, the murderous game created by the terrorists who call themselves The Organizers.
'To remain alive, and solve the mystery behind Death Watch, you must master the use of weapons and items found within the environment and compete in ultra violent mini-games designed to push you over the edge.
'With its irreverent humour and over-the-top violence MadWorld delivers a visceral gaming experience that will be an instant classic on the Wii.'
Sean Ratcliffe, Vice President of Marketing, SEGA of America, Inc, said: 'MadWorld pushes the envelope with its extreme content but takes a step away from the dark and serious nature of most mature games.'
Released in 2006 the Wii has become a market leader with its original games appealing to a far broader age range than competitors like Sony's PlayStation and Microsoft Xbox 360.
Costing around £180 the consoles - which use wireless remotes to control the on-screen actions - have been hailed as the next generation of computer consoles.
While other consoles have focussed on better graphics the Wii has focussed on game play and the physical nature of their games.
It has since become hugely popular with very young children, families and even the elderly.
A spokesman from Nintendo, said: 'Wii appeals to a wide range of audiences from children and teenagers to adult and senior citizens, anyone from 5 - 95, as such there is a wide range of content for all ages and tastes available.
'Mad World will be suitably age rated through the appropriate legal channels and thus only available to an audience above the age rating it is given'
'The game is not made by Nintendo but by Sega.'

Nintendo has added a new title to their WiiWare shop, Strong Bad Episode 1: Homestar Ruiner from developer Telltale Games. The new title features the infamous boxing-glove-adorned character in the first of five installments of Telltale's "Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People".
"The point-and-click adventure game stars Strong Bad, the lucha libre mask-wearing character from web cartoon series Homestar Runner. Players can create "Teen Girl Squad" comics, play a retro-styled minigame titled Snake Boxer 5, and send pictures and messages to their friends through the Wii's message board system."
In addition to the new title two classic titles have also been added for virtual console, Break In, and Star Parodier.

News/release from Preussie
Grafoon is an ( buzzword alert! ) ‘Arcade Style Puzzle Shooter‘ with a lot of classic elements like: Doors/Keys, Mines ( including chain reactions ), various walls with different behavior, laser barrier, nasty enemies and a lot more…
The main target is to pick up all Hobbels and bring them home to advance to the next map. Don’t touch the walls, they will destroy your ship. Touching enemies or enemy shots drain you ships energy. Collect green gems to increase your ships energy…
UPDATE:
Version 0.9 of Grafoon is available for download:
http://preussie.miscstuff.de/ds/?page_id=57
Changes are:
- added moving walls
- added hobbel carrier enemy ( this enemy drops a hobbel if killed )
- added timed doors ( opens for 5 seconds if the 'key-switch' is touched or shot )
- hobbel speed-up ( pressing the 'Y' key increases the hobbel speed )
- support for 'external' maps via DLDI interface
- 27 level ( 9 tutorial maps, 8 built in map, 10 maps in an external level set, wich requires DLDI patch )
- larger maps ( support for variable map size )
- scoring item
- custom control configuration
- high score list
- more sounds
- some bug fixes
I have added support for external map files. This means you can make and play your own Grafoon maps. If you are considering building maps, drop me a line and I'll explain how it works...
have fun

News from Halfbyte
Looks like after more than one year of lurking around you guys here, I can finally step up and announce something.
OSCpad is (or at least will be) a software to use your NDS as a universal controller for OSC aware applications. Currently it sends data for the touchpad and for the ndsmotion, buttons and probably microphone volume are to follow soon.
yes, I know, there are things like Kaossds, but while I really like all the DSMI stuff, using OSC gives me much more flexibility, better controller resolution (no freakin' 7-Bit MIDI values), plus OSC feels at home in UDP packages so there's no additional software needed.
OSC aware applications are, for example:
Max/MSP
PureData
SuperCollider
ChucK
Reaktor
I did not package a release, because there are some important things missing (like network configuration), the curious might want to check out the working prototype (please read the README) at
http://github.com/halfbyte/nds-oscpad/tree/master
Feel free to fork, patch or simply bash it, I would love to hear some criticism on my whacky C code (I am more used to higher level languages nowadays) or if you have any ideas for additional features I probably forgot.
Oh, and if someone with a little more expertise could take a look at the touchpad pressure calculation and why it's totally not working, that'd be super duper.

If your idea of a superhero is someone with an invincible ego who can type e-mails while wearing boxing gloves, then the Wii Shop Channel has great news for you. The legendary Strong Bad (from the popular Homestar Runner Web series) makes his eagerly anticipated WiiWare debut this week. For even more laughs and clever gaming kicks, you'll also find a satirical space-age shooter on the Virtual Console, along with a classic billiards game for those who prefer to keep their feet planted firmly on the ground.
Nintendo adds new and classic games to the Wii Shop Channel at 9 a.m. Pacific time every Monday. Wii owners with a high-speed Internet connection can redeem Wii Points to download the games. Wii Points can be purchased in the Wii Shop Channel or at retail outlets. This week's new games are:
WiiWare
Strong Bad Episode 1: Homestar Ruiner (Telltale Games, 1 player, Rated T for Teen -- Crude Humor, Mild Cartoon Violence, Mild Suggestive Themes, 1,000 Wii Points): Charming. Suave. Awesome. These are the words Strong Bad would use to describe himself. In a world gone mad, only one man can be trusted to save the day. A man with an attitude. A man called Strong Bad. As the star of the Homestar Runner Web cartoons, Strong Bad has been answering e-mails (in boxing gloves), pranking his friends, pummeling his enemies, and making people with questionable taste snort milk out of their noses for years now. And he's branched out to star in Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People, a monthly five-episode series. In Episode 1: Homestar Ruiner, Strong Bad's plans to beat the snot out of Homestar backfire, and he ends up with an unwanted houseguest cramping his style. Now he needs to get life back to normal by any means possible. But wait, there's more: Teen Girl Squad comics, achievements, funny costumes and arcade games. You can even send pictures and messages to Wii Friends using Strong Bad's computer. So how about it? Can you handle Strong Bad's style?
Virtual Console
Break In (TurboGrafx16, 1-4 players, Rated E for Everyone -- Tobacco Reference, 700 Wii Points): Gather up to four players for an authentic game of pool right in your own home. Choose from six billiards games including 9-Ball, Rotation and Carom (a game played without pockets). Use Simulation mode to calculate the perfect shot, or select Action mode and check out what went wrong with your missed shots. With all that to choose from, Break In gives players -- from beginners to experts—all the elements necessary to enjoy a great game of pool. But it doesn't stop there. Select Technique to practice your angles or even go for a trick shot. Get some help from the CPU and hone your skills. With Break In, you'll be a pro in no time.
Star Parodier (TurboGrafx16 CD-ROM, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone -- Mild Cartoon Violence, 900 Wii Points): Star Parodier is the hilarious spoof of the classic Hudson shooter Star Soldier. In this parody, there are three playable ships for players to choose from: the ingratiating Paroceaser, the hot-headed Bomberman, and the ever-so-introverted PC-Engine. Players control one of these unique and original ships and set off to blast their way through eight stages on the planet Paroson. The comical characters take the color and flavor of the Soldier series to the next level and are guaranteed to leave players mesmerized. In addition to the normal game mode, there are also the familiar two-minute and five-minute attack modes, making Star Parodier the complete package that is sure to have players coming back for more.
