News/release from Crediar
Starfall, formerly HackInstaller, is an application developed by Crediar to patch the system menu to include new features.
These hacks only work with the systemmenu 3.2E(v290) If you have any other version it will just return to the loader.
This tool does not update any SHA1 hashes or signatures. Currently IOS isn't checking those, but that could be fixed in a future update.
Just load it and carefully read the on screen stuff otherwise you won't be able to install it.
The rescue-menu is a build-in menu by nintendo, it doesn't make your wii unbrickable. If you install another systemmenu all hacks will be removed.
Your systemmenu will only be patched, it won't be deleted. This makes the patch progress very brick safe
No healhwarning screen
Region free GC games with video mode patch
Region free Wii games
Region free channels
No mainmenu BGM
Start rescue-menu when Y is held on 1st GC controller
Remove rescue-menu diagnostic disc check

Square-Enix has confirmed that Dragon Quest: The Chapters of the Chosen will soon be available across Europe.
Released on September 18, the new Dragon Quest is the first instalment in the Zenithia Trilogy. The Hand of the Heavenly Bride and the Realms of Reverie will soon follow.
Chapters of the Chosen will feature a unique storyline, a beautiful world to explore and even an arranged orchestral score. If nothing else, we expect it to have high production values.
We've also been told that it uses the "DS Wireless Communications to welcome pioneers met through chance encounters in the real world, transforming a tiny town into a metropolis."
If you can figure out what the means, let us know below.

Motamedia has unveiled the vehicle advertising plan for Activision's forthcoming Nintendo DS edition of its hugely popular music game - Guitar Hero On Tour.
A fleet of 30- and 40-foot trucks will carry advertising for the game, which is out now in the UK, and hopes to reach "a wide audience in areas largely uncluttered with other forms of advertising," the company said.
"We are delighted to be part of the nationwide launch of Guitar Hero on Tour and to be assisting such a leading player in the worldwide games industry," Motamedia MD Colin Smith added.
"Our advertising is particularly suitable for a game that can be played on the move, and Activision's state of the art graphics have created a particularly striking campaign."
Tim Lloyd, planner at Starcom MediaVest commented: "Guitar Hero on Tour will appeal to a broad mix of players and as a result, we wanted to use a number of different promotional devices to reach our target audience."

505 Games is bringing Wii cheerleading game We Cheer to Wii in early 2009.
This Namco Bandai outing turns two Wiimotes into a pair of pom-poms, which are waved around in time to music on the screen.
That music, incidentally, features the likes of teeny-boppers Hilary Duff, KC & The Sunshine Band and Paramore.
Cheerleaders can be created from scratch and then customised with various provocative outfits, and additional dancers can be unlocked later in the game to form squads.
We Cheer has a Workout Mode with tailored exercise programs and a virtual fitness instructor, as well as a Cheer Off multiplayer mode for two or four players.
What do we want? We Cheer gallery. When do we want it? Fired?

News/release from Marcan
Yesterday we had some server issues, and I took the server offline for a while. During this, I decided it was time to release a preview version of menuloader. Since I couldn’t write a post about it here, I just let it loose on the forums. Unfortunately, the resulting game of Telephone (somewhat predictably) managed to get a few things wrong as the announcement bounced from forum to forum, so I think it’s time to write up a real announcement, now that the server is back up.
Menuloader has existed in some form at least since the release of IOS37. It was developed as a way of checking that a System Menu running under an IOS with no fakesign bug would not cause a brick on consoles with modified software installed. It also gained debug abilities, which was nice to investigate what goes on behind the scenes with the System Menu. When The Homebrew Channel came out (the real one, not the “demo”), we added extra patches to increase debugging verbosity, and used it to debug our homebrew apploader. It remained like that for a while. I had ideas about adding more useful patches and releasing it, but they were put on the back burner.
Recently, there has been some activity regarding modding the system menu. A few people were asking me about menuloader. In an attempt to both get people to learn for themselves and avoid having to redirect my attention to menuloader (I had more important things to do at the time), I dropped some useful code and explained the general idea of menuloader. As far as I know, the very first application based on these ideas is sadmenu, which includes a simple patch that makes testing banners out quite a bit safer. Crediar did the same, but then reworked the resulting patches into a tool that installs them permanently into the Wii. After watching his video, I figured it was about time to finally clean menuloader up and release it.
menuloader 0.4 is a tool that dynamically launches the System Menu with a set of patches. The patching occurs entirely as the menu is loaded, and the changes aren’t permanent. None of the patches will persist once you reboot the Wii or reload the System Menu. This release is meant to be a “test” version, as it lacks some features and the patches have not undergone much testing. It includes the following (selectable) patches:
USBGecko debugging, with optional extended debugging information
Regionfree Wii disc booting (I hear this doesn’t work perfectly yet)
Regionfree channel booting (useful if you’ve region-swapped your Wii and want to use your old store-bought VC and WiiWare titles)
Skip Warning screen
Disable background music
Additionally, you can pick which IOS to use when booting. On a 3.3 Wii, for example, pick IOS35 to get back the ability to use fakesigned discs. On a 3.2 or older Wii, you can pick IOS37 to “experience” what happens when 3.3 users try to use fakesigned discs, like we did in March (assuming you actually have IOS37 installed).
The main difference between this tool and crediar’s is that menuloader boots the new system menu with the patches applied during the launch process - nothing ever gets modified in your Wii’s NAND filesystem. This means that the hack only persists until the system menu exits (when you boot a game or reboot the Wii), but it also means that it is much safer for trying out new patches.
The ideas for some of the patches were inspired by crediar’s demonstration video, but the actual patches were developed independently and, in fact, before crediar’s installer was released. The patching methodology is entirely different in both applications - Starfall app uses static patches which only work on 3.2E, while menuloader uses dynamic search and replace, which is compatible with a wide range of System Menu versions. We can afford to do this because menuloader does not install anything to NAND. If anything goes wrong, you can just reboot the Wii and everything will be back to normal.
FAIR WARNING: While menuloader does not modify your NAND filesystem, the System Menu does have the ability to do so, and incorrect patches could result in the System Menu itself causing trouble. In particular, the same warnings that apply to region-free modchips apply to menuloader: if you run an update from a disc from another region, it could result in duplicated channels, a semibrick, or in rare cases a full brick.
Once I get a chance to clean things up a bit, I’ll release a new version with source code so you can experiment with your own patches.
It is important to note that this isn’t merely a testing or specific-use tool with no ability to apply the patches on startup. While I do not think that modifying the System Menu in NAND is a good idea, there are ways of making Menuloader run on startup, effectively accomplishing the same goal in a safer way. We expect to be able to do this when the boot2 hack is released (which, from now on, I’m going to call boot1.5 or BootMii).
Enjoy! Stay tuned for more information on my current ideas about future hacks, how were going to manage System Menu and IOS patches, and BootMii. Oh, yeah, and the DVD lib. No, we haven’t forgotten about it.

Back in the NES days, Japanese companies were making games and cartoons based on U.S. properties - Think of DuckTales on the game side, or Batman the Animated Series on the cartoon side. But times have changed! Witness the Japanese localization of the Speed Racer game, made by Western studios, based on a Western movie, based on a Japanese IP. The times, they are a-changin!

A consumer survey might have given away the first details on Rockstar's DS Grand Theft Auto game, Chinatown Wars.
The survey asked a number of specific questions about an "upcoming game," with the details sounding all-too familiar.
The details were originally posted on UGO, but the site has since removed them. You can't beat the internet that easily though. Destructoid reprinted it all. Wired's got a pretty good recap of events leading to the story being taken down too.
If the information is to be believed, the game will have an open world, changing weather and traffic patterns, a mature story line, wi-fi multiplayer, 70+ missions, 20+ hours of gameplay and stylus based mini-games. Impressive.
Obviously, this is all filed under rumour and speculation for now and nothing's been confirmed on the game by Rockstar at all. You'll have to wait and see, we're afraid.

Telltale Games says the first episode of WiiWare and PC adventure series Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People will be available on 11th August.
Homestar Ruiner is the first of five planned instalments (one each month) based on the apparently funny Homestar Runner animated internet series. Confusing, but keep up.
Strong Bad, a boxer who wears a mask, confesses he is "charming", "suave", "muscular", and "awesome". His plan, in episode one, is to win a Race to the End of the Race - a scheme which gets messed up when an unwanted visitor comes to stay.
Telltale, of Sam & Max renown, is working closely with the Homestar Runner creators to make sure everything is accurate and hilarious.
PC pre-orders for the entire Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People are open on the Telltale website now. One episode is USD 8.95 (GBP 4.50), or the entire series can be snaffled up for USD 34.95 (GBP 17.50).
On WiiWare, each episode costs 1000 Wii Points (approx GBP 7.00 / EUR 10.00).

Tetris Party is on its way to WiiWare, and it bizarrely supports the Wii Balance Board.
Coming in October of this year, the developer promises that the game will feature 18 game modes with ten never-before-seen single and multiplayer variations of Tetris.
Online modes include World Battle and Friend Battle, where up to six people can play simultaneously online.
Other new variants include Stage Racer, Wii Balance Board Tetris Marathon, Field Climber, and Duel Space. We really want to see how the Balance Board marathon works.

Europe will have to wait until "early 2009" for Chrono Trigger DS, Square Enix has told Eurogamer, but will be only "a few weeks" behind the US "holiday" launch.
Originally and fondly remembered as a SNES role-playing title - albeit not one released in PAL land - Chrono Trigger follows Crono and friends on a time-travelling adventure to change the present and events still to come. Sort of like Back to the Future, but with swords and fewer proms.
The DS revamp will make use of touch-screen controls, two screens, feature a new dungeon, and include some sort of wireless play.
"It gives me great pleasure to see Chrono Trigger being released in Europe and the PAL territories," said John Yamamoto, boss of Square Enix, who must himself be in the future if he's seen it released in Europe.
Graphically little appears to have changed, as you can see in our Chrono Trigger DS gallery. No bad thing, as Akira Toriyama's character designs were great the first time around.
