"Hundred of thousands" of dangerous and unsafe Nintendo DS chargers could have made their way over to the UK, Trading Standards have warned.
The body is trying to recall the dodgy DS and DS Lite chargers, which officers say have been shipped over from China to UK shops in "vast numbers" and could cause electrocution.
Wires become detached from the plugs after being used, leading to a large risk of electric shocks. The pins don't fit properly in UK sockets either, causing overheating.
One of the chargers concerned has the code marking 'DE62347066', but others have no code and are simply called 'Travel Charger'.
Speaking to the BBC, Chris Holden, senior trading standards officer at Buckinghamshire County Council, said that the chargers are being sold for about £5 on the internet and about £6 in the shops. Safe chargers retail for around £15.
"The UK appears to be flooded with them," he said. "It probably runs into hundreds of thousands or even millions."
You've been warned: don't buy any cheapo DS chargers from the market.

"Absolutely the hard-core gamer crowd is critically important to us." Which would explain why so much of Nintendo's E3 press conference was taken up by spirited flailing, smiling soccer moms and the worst rendition of the Super Mario Bros. theme the world has ever been forced to endure.
But Nintendo hasn't forgotten about the mythical "hardcore" gamer crowd, Cammie Dunaway tells Wired. The executive VP of sales and marketing, who insists that she's a "genuinely smiley, nice person," explains that "the Zelda and Mario teams are hard at work," possibly on something that could rival the infinitely desirable Super Mario Sluggers. "And even Super Mario Sluggers, which is certainly an expanded audience title, but what core gamer doesn't love Mario and baseball and finding out which combination of characters are going to do what kind of crazy things in the field?" she ponders.
Dunaway also notes that Nintendo is committed to a variety of games, catering to casual players with titles like Cooking Navi, and exciting tougher crowds with the DS iteration of Grand Theft Auto. We mean, she must have seen it, right? "I have not looked at the product. Have you?" Well, no ... but we haven't been incorporating it into our sales pitch either.

Getting your hands on a Wavebird, Classic Controller, or Nintendo GameCube could shortly become very difficult as Nintendo faces a ban on all three devices, following a failed attempt to overturn the verdict in a $21-million dollar patent infringement suit brought on by Texas-based Anascape Ltd. U.S. District Judge Ron Clark plans on issuing the ban on these Nintendo products tomorrow, giving the company a chance to avoid the ban by posting bond or placing royalties in an Escrow account. According to Anascape lawyer Doug Cawley, the ban will be placed on hold while Nintendo appears on the Federal level.
"Nintendo was already planning to appeal this case to the Federal Circuit court,'' Nintendo spokesman Charlie Scibetta said in an e-mailed statement. ``The recent ruling by the trial court does not impact that decision.''
Note that the ban does not affect the Wii remote or nunchuck controllers - just the standard controllers that include analog sticks.

Satoru Iwata has admitted that Nintendo's restrictions on interaction via Wii Connect 24 could be improved and has said the company will be working to improve the service in the future.
"First of all, I don't think the current system we have with friend codes is perfect," he said in an interview with GameDaily.
"However, if it's an online world where you can get access to anybody without any restrictions, I as a father do not feel like allowing my daughter be engaged in that kind of world."
Iwata said that the company felt it was important to create a world free of harassment for those who have never experienced online videogames before.
"So we will be studying this," he added, "on an ongoing basis in order to improve Nintendo's own circumstances where people can freely and safely enjoy the communications through the net."

Props to Brakken for spotting this nice bit of DS News, the Very impressive GBA Zeldaish Anguna game will be coming to the DS Soon says the coder on his site.
A few people have asked about porting Anguna to other systems (notably DS). After enough pestering, I've decided to go ahead and start porting it. Thank you to Electrobee for providing DS homebrew equipment for testing. What WOULD come in handy is a copy of the no$gba debugger, which, unfortunately, is unavailable as its author has seemingly disappeared. If anyone has a legal copy they'd like to sell or donate, please let me know!
Also, if anyone is interested in porting Anguna themselves to another system, I'd be more than happy to provide help, code, graphics and level resources, etc. Just send me an email.
Any fans of adventure games done in a Zelda 1 look will love this news. For More info check out his web here --> http://www.tolberts.net/anguna/

Michniewski has released a new version of the Snes Emulator for the Nintendo Wii and Gamecube, heres whats new:
Hello again,
I've updated my version of Snes9xGX to 002. Hopefully this version will satisfy the features most clamored for. Snes9xGx now includes nunchuk, classic, wiimote and GC controller support. I've also compiled a gamecube version, but this is untested (let me know of any issues you come across).
Read the readme for default mappings. These can be reconfigured in the menu. Remember to save your configs!
Changes:
Code:
[What's New 002]
- added: classic and nunchuk support
- added: all controllers can now be configured
- added: GC version (untested)
- changed: mappings are no longer stored in SRAM, but in config file.
This means no per-game configurations, but one global
config per controller.
- one makefile to make all versions. (thanks to snes9x143 SVN)
[What Was New 001]
- compiles with latest devkitppc (r15)
- now uses libfat (can use front sd slot on wii)
- updated menu items a bit
- wiimote support
- fixed: autoload sram/freeze
- fixed: rom plays immediately after loadingThanks to:
- original coders of Snes9x
- softdev and crunchy2 for GC port
- shagkur and wintermute for libogc / devkitppc
- everyone else contributing to the scene

Nuke slipped this one out and no one anywhere picked it up but thankfully ive spotted it today and its a new version of the Region Free Game Loader for Wii that requires you to have the Homebrew Channel installed.
GeckoOS V1.06d beta - Wii versions
Changes:
v1.06d
1. Added support for all Euro PAL game regions.
v1.06c
1. Fixed the code handler which prevented some games booting.
v1.06b
1. Force PAL50
2. Improved boot compatibility - Uses variables required from the update partition, before switching back to the game. Downside it takes a couple more seconds to boot.
3. Some minor fixes in the server code which improves paused start when debugging. Fixed some menu bugs also.
4. Can be used with included applications, 'Load', 'Card', 'Music'
5. Progress bar added to menu when using included apps.
Dev feature:
Just like the Homebrew channel, when you load a DOL or via the included Load application, you can return instantly back to the GeckoOS by pressing the Wii Remote 'HOME' button by adding the following few lines in your code, which is found in alot if not all homebrew. As it works the same as the Homebrew channel you don't need to edit your homebrew apps, this makes very fast dev cycles for developers.
while(1) {
WPAD_ScanPads();
u32 pressed = WPAD_ButtonsDown(0)
if ( pressed & WPAD_BUTTON_HOME ) exit(0);
VIDEO_WaitVSync();
}
As always, works with WiiRD Remote debugger at http://wiird.l0nk.org/wp/ and http://www.usbgecko.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=25
Note:
SD Menu and various apps are still left out, but will be added to the next version after this version is beta tested.
If any coder wants the sourecode to the loader app to port to Linux or Mac feel free to contact me
