News/release from Sshock
WiiMPC is a simple MPD client for the Wii.
It utilizes the WiiMote to control your music server with buttons for play/pause/stop, change song, and change volume. The screen shows the current song, song position, and volume.
Install WiiMPC like any other HomeBrew channel app; then create a file in the wiimpc directory called wiimpc.conf, with a single line in it:
MPD_HOST = mpdserver
where "mpdserver" is the hostname of the machine running MPD.
The source is available, and of course patches are welcome.

Smealum has posted and UPDATED an entry into the Neoflash Compo
Legion and Legion online have been updated. This update repairs the bug in the credits menu (which i had no knowledge of before about 30 minutes ago) and a bug with nick registration in Legion Online. Please redownload it.
Legion is a top-view 3D shooter which was designed to take full advantage of the DS's unique features. It has a full solo "campaign", with a very detailed backstory as well as an online multiplayer mode which can be played with up to three other players. (4 player games)
The game features :
- A complete storyline with a very complete background world.
- Humouristic writing with CHAP's random sentences.
- Completely original graphics all made by Lobo.
- Completely original music composed by ZeBlackos.
- 4 difficulty modes (Easy, Normal, Hard, A cup of Tea)
- 3 unlockable weapons.
- 12 full solo maps.
- 8 online maps.
- 4 player online games.
- 3 different online game modes (deathmatch, team deathmatch, capture the flag)
- 13 skins to choose from when playing online.
- Vehicle driving !
- Different solo map objectives and boss fights !
- A particle engine used to render blood.
- A MiniMap on the top screen which shows you your enemies' position in real time and your objectives.
- A compass that helps you find your way.
- A health indicator which shows up when you shoot an enemy.
- A lock on aiming system.
- A website where you can follow your stats in real time as well as server status.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
All credits are within the game itself in the credits section, but I would personnally like to thank Lobo for his great work and efficiency on this project.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How to play :
Solo :
- D-PAD/ABXY to move
- Stylus to aim
- Double tap stylus on enemy : lock on
- Double tap stylus on Brutus : toggle crouch
- Select to bring up weapon mod menu
- Start to put the game on pause
- R/L to shoot.
- R/L close to an enemy will make Brutus punch him
Online :
- D-PAD/ABXY to move
- Stylus to aim
- Double tap stylus on Brutus : toggle crouch
- Select switch weapons
- Start to disconnect from the server and go back to main menu
- R/L to shoot.
Please Note
: the online mode for this game has been fully tested with four players without any problems. It is possible that issues will appear because of a high ping. The main server is located in France, so anyone too far away might have trouble playing. The only way to resolve this is to make you're own server in your country. That is why I have included the windows and linux binaries for Legion Online's server. The server automatically connects to the main listing server which will make your own server visible and accessible to everyone playing the game. Also, it is recommended that you do not download these binaries from any other website than smealum.net (or a big website you trus like gbatemp.net, as long as the file has been posted by an admin or something) as they may be altered by ill-intended people.
Also, the server runs by default on port 4235. I included a .bat which should show you how to use the server's arguments.
Installing Legion
: Legion/Legion Online needs to be DLDI patched. The rom can be placed anywhere on your card, however, the legion/legiononline directory must be placed at your card's root.
I believe that's it. If you have ANY question at all, please ask, I'll try to answer as accurately as possible.
Have fun playing !

Cornal Joe has posted an entry into the Neoflash Compo:
A Multi-cart file browser
Version 0.9 is out! This is a complete rewrite due to an "uninstall" of original source (curse you uninst.exe). Alot of changes and improvements were made so take a look. I've tried to implement as many request features as possible. Thanks and hope you enjoy the update!
CHANGES
-------
Version 0.9 - 08/20/2008
-Updated GUI: Can now load backgrounds and settings from FAT
-Removed DLDS files: Can now read DLDI from FAT
-Added support for AKRPG NAND: If you have an AKRPG just boot from the SD and you will have access to both
-Added option to boot into GBA mode
-Changed/Added some controls
-Added support for MP3 playback
-Added file size display
-Added multiple copy/delete support
-Added display of copy speed
-Added display of current date and time
-The file list is now sorted alphabetically
-Renaming works now by copying file and deleting source
-Booting now works on the extra FAT systems
-Fixed pause when lid closed
-Fixed compatibility with M3/G6 Real
-Various other bug fixes
DualSlot Browser lets you copy and boot files to and from the filesystems available. That means if you have two FAT based flashcarts inserted, you will have access to both! With this boot feature you can boot into GBA mode or boot NDS homebrew files. The boot function Auto-DLDI patches for whatever filesystem its on. So if you boot a homebrew on the Slot-2 it will have access to the Slot-2 FAT. Also with the new MP3 Player feature you can build your own playlist or have DSBrowser search the available FAT for MP3s. All MP3s found will be added to a new playlist. MP3s can be played while exploring the apps features!
Suggestions and comments are welcome. Thanks to all that helped!

Soulanger / Filipino Brewed Coffee has posted an entry into the Neoflash Compo:
BB DevWifi lets you send files on your pc to your ds via wifi and then automatically runs it. This would certainly help fellow developers.
You can also send normal files, then ignores about running it.
It saves the file to the /_soulanger/receivedFiles/ folder.
I have added motion so could toy the background for a bit.
Sorry for non-windows users the server was made only for windows.
There is also a defaultIP.txt that you can edit, that would make your sending easier and faster.
How to use:
1. Extract all files to your root.
2. Run the server. (Balik Bayan Server.exe)
3. Copy your ip adress below the start server. 192.168.x.xxx or similar.
4. Goto your sdcard:_soulanger
5. The open defaultIP.txt with your notepad.
6. Erase 192.168.1.109 and change it with your ip address here.
7. Now put your sd card in your cart then run Balik Bayan DevWifi.nds
8. Dont do anything yet
8. Go back to the server. (Balik Bayan Server.exe)
9. Then press start server.
10. If the window freezes it would now wait for your ds to enter.
11. Go back to your ds make sure that the ip is correct then tap enter or press A.
12. If you have done correctly the server would now stop freezing, and display, "Recieved...hi server!! "
12.1. Note "Connection successfull" does not confirm if it got in. I got an error the last minute so i wasnt able to fix it. The only confirmation is that the freezing is gone.
12.2. If you did not connect correctly you can always press B to return.
13. You can now drop n drop files to the server, or browse then upload.
14. If its an nds file it would automatically run. If not you can sent another file.
Enjoy.

Now this is interesting. Hillcrest Labs is suing Nintendo, trying to create an import ban on the Wii. They claim that Nintendo is infringing on a number of their patents relating to the Wiimote and the on-screen menu system on the Wii. The whole thing doesn't make a lot of sense to us, as we were under the impression that both Nintendo and Hillcrest Labs licensed their tech from Gyration. We're looking into this now, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say that an import ban on the Wii is pretty unlikely. Hit the jump for Hillcrest's full press release.

via IGN
The Suikoden series is set for a return shortly, only this time it's on something other than the PlayStation. DS is the platform of choice for the latest installment, which is set to be titled Genso Suikoden Tierkreis. The latest issue of Famitsu has a first report.
Tierkreis begins after the final fight of the 108 Stars, as the Suikoden heroes are nearly defeated by a powerful foe. Only four remain when the battle ends.
You play as a young boy from the border village of Shitoro. As a member of a peacekeeping group, it's your job to protect the village from bandits and monsters.
How your character gets involved with the 108 stars is something that will presumably be explained throughout the course of the game. Your adventure begins as you and your fellow peacekeepers head out on a monster expedition. While exploring the mountains near your village, you come upon a strange light, which marks the start of the story.
Famitsu has only a few details on the gameplay side of Tierkreis. The game's battle system features parties of four. However, your cast of allies grows well beyond this. You're free to select your party members as you please.
How you form your party appears to have a great effect on your battle options. Characters can team up for special attacks depending on their type. If you have three sorcerers, they can gather their magic for a stronger attack. Similarly two warriors will team up for a speedy combo attack while two sword wielders will show off their sword skills in unison.
Outside of battle, it seems this latest entry of Suikoden will be a full-blown RPG, with a huge world to explore, filled with different races and cultures. Despite the premise of the 108 Stars being wiped out at the beginning, the game will still center on the player meeting up with 108 allies.
Suikoden Tierkreis is currently 50% complete, Famitsu reports. The game is without a final release date.

nyarlu has posted here at DCEmu a new version of his Magnetic Shaving Derby game for the Nintendo DS, heres whats new:
hey, thanks dudes!
I've slightly updated it....
- You can now hit Start to give up the current run.
- High score for current session is kept track of.
- Made title music sound slightly better on DS speakers.
- Beard regrowth score penalty is now on a sliding scale.
Someone scored over a thousand by being really bad at it. The updated scoring system might stop that kind of thing from happening.

EA Sports has confirmed it is working on a brand new tennis franchise at its EA Canada studio in Vancouver.
The first title will be released on the Wii in 2009 and will be the first EA Sports title to use the Wii MotionPlus accessory, unveiled recently by Nintendo.
"As we look to expand the EA Sports brand and captivate sports fans from around the world with rich new interactive experiences, it was obvious that the renaissance we're seeing in the sport of tennis provides us with a big opportunity," commented Peter Moore, president of EA Sports.
The company has also signed up the exclusive rights to the All England Lawn Tennis Club, home of the Wimbledon Championships.
Following a release on the Wii, the franchise will also make its way to other consoles.
Current tennis franchises include Sega's Virtua Tennis and 2K's Top Spin series.

We may have to deal with the rock status quo for a while until the Revolution arrives. According to IGN, Niais Taylor, associate producer of Konami's Rock Revolution, provided an "early 2009" release window for the music game during a demo of the drum kit (which the Wii version does not use). However, there is a bit of potential confusion.
If this unspecified release period is worldwide, or for the US, then the game has been delayed from its previous "2008" release. However, if this is the European release date -- which seems likely, since this information was presented at the Leipzig Games Convention -- then the European release, at least, is on track and we don't have any more information about the US release. But the possibility of a delay, we felt, was worth passing on.
