So far the Guitar Hero on the Wii has suffered from lack of extras and downloadable content, but that's all about to change. Screw the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of Guitar Hero: World Tour - the Wii version lets you play with your Miis! A special Mii Freestyle mode was revealed at Activision's Games Convention 2008 press conference will allow Wii owners to jam out with their Miis, learning the game or just fooling about with friends who have come over to your house to try and figure out why you got the Wii version of the game.
But wait, there's more! The Wii version also gives players the ability to play air guitar and air drums with their Wii remote / nunchuck combo, so ... yeah. There you go.

A Wii Wheel for racing? Fine. A club attachment for golfing. Eh, okay. InterAction Laboratories' Wii Sqweeze? Puh-lease. Recently "demonstrated" by CEO Greg Merril, this goofball peripheral possesses a pair of rubber handles which "allow for shoulder abduction and adduction." Reportedly, the unit was shown off playing some sort of bow hunting game on a PC, though the company promises native Wii compatibility before its 2009 launch. Can we get a show of hands from people who'd actually buy this thing for more than $4.99? Don't make us phone in the quick-lipped auctioneer.
Ah, here we go again. With the huge success seen by Guitar Hero: On Tour and its accompanying peripheral, rumors are already swirling that an Activision title by the name of Tony Hawk's Motion could deliver the next great hand occupier. A recent rating (of "G," obviously) was handed down for the elusive game by Australia's Classification Board, leaving many to wonder (read: hope) if said title will eventually ship with some sort of DS-compatible motion control accessory. Considering just how hot these bundled gizmos are right now, we'd say signs are pointing to "yes."

Heres a curious announcement of a soon to be released Homebrew app at the Neoflash Contest, basically use your DS as a pedometer:
Hello all....
I'm going to submit a pedometer for the DS called sDepS. It will be of no use without an accelerometer. I'll link to the app here before deadline, but it's not quite ready yet.
sDepS is a pedometer keeping track of your level of activity. Steps are registered as walking or running, and the total time spent on each type of activity is shown as well as the Steps Per Minute.
If you have one of the R6 products, please get in touch with me if you could test compatability.
Good luck to you all

Halfbyte posted an update to his project for the DS:
First of all, yesterday I managed to get touch sensitivity working (thanks cheesethulhu, you'll end up in "teh credits screen"), plus there's now a rudimenatary way of configuring the network parameters. That's enough for me to qualify for the first binary release. You can find only the .nds at
(The Source, of course is still available at GitHub)
To configure the network, create a file at /oscpad/config.txt on your flashcard containing only one line consisting of hostname/IP and the port number, such as:
If the host name is resolvable (Not exactly automatic on the NDS as you all will know), the app will send OSC packets to the host and port specified.
Now all I can hope for is some user feedback to hear what works for you and what not. I am especially interested in feedback from someone with a Slot1 ndsmotion, as I only have a slot 2 device.
In the next step I'll try do demo some of the stuff in video form, especially how to use the OSC data in PureData.
Next steps for the Application will be some kind of visual feedback, a little eye candy and, then, later, receiving OSC data for visual effects.
As for your remarks, 0xtob, I'll have to think a little about DSMI integration, as I see no obvious way to integrate the chaotic and free nature of the OSC protocol into the completely clear and obvious MIDI structure, but let's keep in touch on that.
Extracting the OSC stuff as a library is not only a good idea but also very much planned, especially since I am doing a bit groundbreaking work here (at least I think so) as there's not much OSC code available which scales down to these kind of machines. (There's µOSC, but that's not OpenSource)
Hi.. here's my first attempt at DS homebrew.. a minigame type thing.... MAGNETIC SHAVING DERBY!
I made it for a little coding compo where you had to use a random game name generator to come up with a name, and then make it into a game.
It's not coded well. I'm a noob, learning C++ as I go. Most of my coding experience is with BlitzMax, though I did mess around with Turbo Pascal and C years ago. Having stacks of fun making stuff for the DS! This is the first game I've come anywhere close to finishing :O
PS.. Scoring works something like this: You get points for each hair you cut. You lose points the more time it takes. you also lose points for cutting yourself. You lose more points if you're too slow and your beard starts growing again. Popping The Pimple results in temporary reverse polarity, during which you get double the points for each hair cut. If you manage to not get cut at all, you get bonus points....and if you also win before regrowth starts, you get even more bonus points.

Link has released a handy tool for converting PPC assembly code to the format used by the USB Gecko for cheat codes.
Quote:
Well, I decided to write a little helper tool for people who like doing Assembler related codes. As many of you know the WiiRd code system allows you to write assembler code you can add into your game in real-time (C2/D2 codes - or in the code type document: CT6 --> CST1 ).
And well, it was kinda hard to do these kinda codes in my eyes.. writing assembly code.. save as text file.. runnning commands like (turns in.txt in out.bin):
WiiShip is a BattleShips clone for the Wii! Features high res graphics (well sort of!) and 3D surround sounds (maybe). Hours of fun to be had!
You can play against the computer or multiplayer (multiplayer is coming soon).
What is battleship?
The game Battleship is a guessing game played by two people. Although popularized in the United States as a commercial board game, first published in 1931 by the Starex Novelty Company of New York under the name of "Salvo", it is known throughout the world as a pencil and paper game and predates World War I in this form. It was published by Milton Bradley Company in 1943 as the pad-and-pencil game "Broadsides, the Game of Naval Strategy".[1]
Players place their "fleet" of 5 ships on their "ocean", hidden from the opponent's view. Taking turns, players call out their "shots" attempting to get "hits" on the opponent's ships in order to sink them. Strategy and some luck must be combined to be the first to locate and sink all 5 opponent's ships to win the game.
Usage
Load using any method. The download includes an icon and XML file for the HBC.
