On the 15th anniversary year of the North American debut of Harvest Moon, Natsume will introduce a new 3DS edition of the farming game with features never seen before – you know, to keep the vegetation from growing stale.
Harvest Moon: A New Beginning puts an emphasis on customization, allowing you to build your own character, buy and design furniture for your house, decorate the nearby village, and move stuff on your farm around ... which can't be good for the crops.
In A New Beginning, you start a farm up around Echo Village to revitalize the town and bring people and animals back. It'll be out this year, and will be shown off as part of Natsume's Harvest Moon celebration at E3.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate is coming to the 3DS from Spanish developer Mercury Steam. Nintendo waspreviously rumored to announce a new Castlevania title at E3 next week, but the June 2012 issue of Nintendo Power proved the might of print and outed the title in a cover story.
Details as divulged by GoNintendo read as follows: The story involves Trevor Belmont and he fights mainly with a Combat Cross; secondary weapons include a boomerang-like glaive and an electric bomb; the game has light and shadow magic.
In an ultra-exclusive, super-surprising reveal, Nintendo Power says Mirror of Fate will also include skeletons, it appears.

Metro: Last Light is not in development for Wii U, THQ global brand manager Mark Madsen told Digital Spy.
Last Light was included in a Nintendo promo reel for the Wii U at E3 last year, a move Madsen said wasn't premature. "No I don't think it was a bit too early [to show the game at E3]," he said. "As we got along in the development process, we just really wanted to focus on what we knew, focus on PS3, 360 and PC."
Last Light may not hit Wii U, but if it does "it won't sim-ship with the other SKUs." At the moment THQ and developer 4A Games are unsure about "what we can do to maximise the code for the Wii U," Madsen said.

If you'd like to play doubles in Mario Tennis Open with someone who looks vaguely like a tennis ball in hue, we can help with that. Nintendo shared the above QR code exclusively with Joystiq, and now we're sharing it with you. From within the 3DS game, you can snap a picture of this code and unlock a yellow Yoshi for your game.
We hope you love it! Get it – because "love" is a tennis term ... but wait, "love" is bad in tennis. We're going to have to think about this joke and get back to you. Anyway, here's that Yoshi.

"Nintendo has the most to lose or gain this E3. Their backs are against the wall," says Jesse Divnich.
[h=3]Nintendo[/h]www.nintendo-europe.com
[h=3]Nintendo of America[/h]
In this analyst roundtable (following our look atMicrosoft and Sony at E3), we examine what is arguably the most important of the three E3 press conferences: Nintendo. The house that Mario built is no doubt going to do its best to steal the show. Everyone is eager to see what Wii U will really be like.
Nintendo is facing intense scrutiny and has numerous questions to answer, and even with E3 the company may choose to deliberately not answer them all. Will Mario and Zelda both grace Wii U's launch? How much will Wii U cost? Can Nintendo strike a balance to retain its casual Wii audience while also attracting the core Xbox/PlayStation demographic?
It's going to be a very interesting E3 for Nintendo. Here's what the analysts had to say:
Jesse Divnich, EEDAR
Nintendo has the most to lose or gain this E3. Their backs are against the wall as their hardware numbers have fallen below expectations in recent quarters--but it is a position they've been in before and I'd argue some of their best decisions came while under pressure.
"Nintendo needs to demonstrate how Wii U will change gaming in a way that other systems cannot"
Billy Pidgeon
Nintendo is likely to put a big focus on all the third-party partnerships they have obtained for their Wii U line-up. My only concern with Nintendo at E3 is that they might cater too much to the core audience by announcing/showcasing a plethora of HD ports that are already in development for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. I think going head-to-head with the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 is a bad proposition. Nintendo has succeeded on their ability to go against the grain and create demand where there wasn't any before.
And yes, I am more than positive that any HD Wii U port will each have Wii U specific features, but I don't foresee any of them being able to sway gamers who are already entrenched in these franchises on other consoles (Darksiders, Ghost Recon, Assassin's Creed, etc).
I am sure Nintendo will give us the usual Nintendo IP love with numerous Mario and Zelda trailers, which the fans will eat up. Personally, I would prefer that Nintendo focus on why the Wii U can offer a superior differentiating entertainment experience.

Over half of Professor Layton gamers are female – a much higher profile than seen for the average game.
This week we take a look at the GameVision Brand Map for Professor Layton. GameVision asked 6,729 gamers about this brand. 1,400 had played it within the last six months and 578 of these spoke about the brand in detail.
The popularity of the Professor Layton brand is driven by the ‘mental challenge’ it offers, with 75 per cent of gamers saying this was their most preferred game aspect, more than double the percentage of any other motivator. The level of ‘involvement in the story’ was enjoyed by 37 per cent, while ‘mastering the tricks and skills’ and ‘short play periods’ were each enjoyed by 27 and 22 per cent of players respectively.
Professor Layton is one of few game franchises to have more female players than males. Play rates are highest amongst Spanish and French users, with 20 per cent playing in each country. 46 per cent of players in Europe are under the age of 20, the same as the average game.
Females aged 10 to 14 make up the largest market, accounting for 17 per cent of Professor Layton players, with males aged 15 to 19 comprising a further 14 per cent of the market. No male age group has a higher percentage of players compared to the average game.
The most played games amongst Professor Layton fans include Dr Kawashima’s Brain Training (58 per cent), Big Brain Academy (44 per cent) and Wii Fit (42 per cent), suggesting that a large number of players are playing these games mainly for the educational benefits offered.

Nintendo's next generation console will not receive support from Epic's upcoming tech
Nintendo’s next generation console will not be supported by the upcoming Unreal Engine 4, it has been revealed.
UE4 is the next-generation of Epic’s very popular development engine. Its incompatibility with Wii U effectively locks Nintendo’s machine out of a wealth of third party multiplatform content.
The confirmation came from SpikeTV host Geoff Keighley, who said on Twitter that Epic’s Mike Capps confirmed the news at GDC in March.
Wii U will, however, be supported by the currently common Unreal Engine 3. But if UE4 gains the same popularity as UE3, Nintendo’s platform could once again struggle to court the same level of third party support and Microsoft and Sony’s machines.

Fceux SVN r2516 is compiled. FCEUX is a cross platform, NTSC and PAL Famicom/NES emulator that is an evolution of the original FCE Ultra emulator. Over time FCE Ultra had separated into many separate branches. The concept behind FCEUX is to merge elements from FCE Ultra, FCEU rerecording, FCEUXD, FCEUXDSP, and FCEU-mm into a single branch of FCEU. As the X implies, it is an all-encompassing FCEU emulator that gives the best of all worlds for the general player, the ROM-hacking community, and the Tool-Assisted Speedrun Community.
Fceux SVN changelog:
r2516
* Taseditor: Ctrl+Space accelerator = toggle "Auto-restore last position" checkbox
* Taseditor: remapped "Restore Playback" hotkey to Spacebar
* Taseditor: "Restore Playback" also pauses seeking
* Taseditor: mid-click = "Restore Playback" when possible
