The hacking group Paradox have dumped the first real Wii iso and thats of the game Red Steel, the image cant be played etc but through hacking more is understood of how the console ticks and the file layouts etc and thats what interests us the most.
Obviously Nintendo wont be happy with this news but lets hope that a way in for homebrew on the Wii can come of this news.

When Chris Kohler starts thinking aloud, panic shoots through the interlaced tubes of the 'net and spreads like a virus. And now look what you've done, Mr. Kohler. You've made the Pokefans cry.
The story: Kohler noticed that in the blitz of press releases regarding Pokemon Diamond and Pearl in the U.S., local multiplayer was mentioned, but not the WiFi play that had Pokemasters everywhere drooling. And lo did the speculation begin -- and a legion of sites leaped onto the bandwagon with full force.
But take heart! Nintendo confirmed to GameLife that WiFi play would in fact be preserved for the U.S. releases of Diamond and Pearl, so everyone is free to take a breath and untangle their twisted knickers, for all is well with the Pokemon. Now all you have to worry about is waiting for April.

Few games consoles have been more sought after than Nintendo's Wii, which sold more than 300,000 units across Europe last weekend alone, forcing parents to turn to eBay in desperation.
But there was a warning yesterday for those inclined to unwrap one of the machines near the Christmas tree: switch off the fairy lights before using it, or you might find it behaving very strangely.
The hazards of operating a Wii when the fairy lights are on were revealed by bloggers, who were puzzled by its odd performance near the tree.
Writing on one users' blog, an owner of a Wii, which has wowed console enthusiasts with its innovative interface, said: "The last couple of days my Wii has been acting weird in not picking up the Wiimote (the console's controller) on the side of the Christmas tree and I could never figure out what was wrong. Well tonight, I turned off the Christmas tree and it fixed my problem."
Nintendo investigated and discovered the gamers had a point.
"In exceptional conditions where the Wii sensor bar is sat near a direct light source there may be some minor interference - this does not mean that there is any fault with your Wii," Nintendo said in a statement yesterday.
"For the best performance of your Wii, avoid bright light sources behind or near the TV, shining towards the Wii remote or reflecting off the TV screen."
Bemused Wii fans, whose machine allows them to control their on-screen actions by waving a remote control in the air rather than using a traditional joystick, are becoming accustomed to unexpected health warnings.
Yesterday's announcement comes days after Wii offered to replace millions of wrist straps for the video game controllers, after dozens of gamers complained of so-called "wiinjuries" caused by losing their grip on the controllers for the new console.
Relishing the chance to join in games simply by imitating the action of a tennis racket, sword or golf club, owners have lost control of heir gizmos, leading to bruised heads and black eyes, not to mention the odd damaged TV set.
"I decided to play the game for bowling," one battered and bruised gamer, Nicole, wrote on Wiihaveaproblem.com.
"I guess I swung really hard to knock down the pins and all of a sudden I realised my head hurt... Instead of it flying wildly into the air, it stopped and swung back around and hit me in the head."
In response, Nintendo offered top take back any of the 0.2m wrist straps in circulation and replace them with something more durable.
It said the fault lay with players failing to follow on-screen guidance to securely strap the device on to their wrists.
But yesterday it was revealed that the company is facing a lawsuit over the alleged "defective nature" of the straps, filed in the US.
Law firm Green Welling LLP, which is bringing the class action, said: "Nintendo's failure to include a remote that is free from defects is in breach of Nintendo's own product warranty."
These problems are not halting the unstoppable rise of Wii, which, contrary to many expectations is outperforming the long-awaited Play Station 3 worldwide.
Rumours were rife yesterday that Wii games based on two Disney titles - "Meet the Robinsons" and "Pirates of the Caribbean" - are under development.
So will the bright light glitches be at an end when the Christmas lights comes down? Yes, says Nintendo, which states that direct lights could only cause interference in "exceptional conditions" and that the console is not affected by lights under normal conditions.

Get ready for the ultimate party game extravaganza! Wario Ware: Smooth Moves will have you and your friends competing in a series of wild and wonderful challenges as you use the Wii Remote in ways you would not have imagined possible! Wario Ware: Smooth Moves launches on Wii across Europe on 12th January 2007.
Sequel to the hugely popular Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS games, Wario Ware: Smooth Moves is the latest in the Wario Ware franchise but this time it can make full use of the Wii Remote! Featuring over 200 fast paced and action-packed microgames, players are challenged to hone their reactions and use the Wii Remote in an array of wonderful and wacky ways.
Twisting the Wii Remote this way and that, players must master positioning and movement of the controller to complete the challenges set. From the simple ‘Remote Control’ position to ‘The Elephant’ or ‘The Samurai’, manipulation of the Wii Remote is a must to complete one task and move on to the next. With the time available to complete the challenge getting shorter and shorter, accuracy is all important!
Each game only lasts a few seconds and requires the player to perform bizarre actions with the Wii Remote, such as sautéing vegetables, hula hooping (by holding the Wii Remote against your hip) and even slotting Grandma’s teeth into her mouth! Beware though, it’s not as easy as you may think! Humorous details fill the screen to simultaneously entertain and distract the player. Some recognisable faces will also make appearances from classic games such as Super Mario Bros, Nintendogs and Metroid Prime.
In single player mode, players travel around a map of Diamond City, selecting one of the characters to follow their wacky adventures. Each character will introduce the player to a new type of gameplay and a different family of microgames. The cast includes familiar faces from the Wario Ware series such as Wario and Mona, as well as new faces like Young Cricket the Kung-Fu Trainee. Once inside the microgame, players follow their chosen character’s story and complete a variety of mini tasks. If they are successful in fulfilling all the tasks, additional mini game adventures and multiplayer options featuring the Smooth Moves’ colourful cast are unlocked to enjoy.
Several multiplayer modes are available for selection in this game, allowing up to 12 people to play at once with just one controller. For example, in Survival mode up to 12 people can take up the Smooth Moves challenge where one wrong move eliminates them from the game - it’s truly the survival of the fittest! Go head to head in Star Nose where one player uses the Wii Remote and the other the Nunchuk to fly a nose-shaped spaceship along a corridor, making sure not to touch a single wall or obstacle. Five other exciting multiplayer games are available to play, including Darts, Lifeline, Balloon, Bomb and Bungee Buddies. No matter what your mood there will be a multiplayer game to entertain you and with 12 save slots available Wario Ware: Smooth Moves is the perfect title to play with your friends and family.
January 2007 at an estimated retail price of around 49 Euros (approximately £34 in the UK). The Wii console is available at the estimated retail price of around €249 (£179 in the UK). Included with every Wii console is one wireless Wii Remote, a Nunchuk, Wii Sports game, Stereo AV Cable and the sensor bar for Wii’s unique control system.

Carl Kenner has released a new version of his GlovePie Input Emulator which basically supports a lot of different Hardware and enables you to use say a WiiMote Controller as a Gaming Controller on your PC
What's new in version 0.28:
* Running scripts from command line works again
* New function: DeadZone (wiimote.nunchuk.joyX, 10%)
* Wii Classic Controller support (theoretical)
* Can now tell the difference between classic and nunchuk
* Nunchuk built-in calibration supported
* Nunchuk no longer reduces performance of other reports
* Note, when IR and Nunchuk are used together dot size is no longer available
Heres more details:
GlovePIE stands for Glove Programmable Input Emulator. It doesn't have to be used with VR Gloves, but it was originally started as a system for emulating Joystick and Keyboard Input using the Essential Reality P5 Glove. Now it supports emulating all kinds of input, using all kinds of devices, including Polhemus, Intersense, Ascension, WorldViz, 5DT, and eMagin products. It can also control MIDI or OSC output.
In the GlovePIE window you type or load a simple script. For example to control the WASD keys with a glove:
W = glove.z > -50 cm
S = glove.z < -70 cm
A = glove.x < -10 cm
D = glove.x > 10 cm
You can also use GlovePIE to play Joystick-only games without a joystick, or keyboard-only games with a joystick. Or you can use it to create macro buttons for complex keystrokes.
You can even use it to control multiple mouse pointers with multiple mice.
System Requirements
You will need:
Windows 98 or above (Windows 2000 or above to emulate keys in DirectInput games or use multiple fake cursors - Windows XP or above to get input from multiple mice or keyboards individually or to read some special keys).
DirectX 8 or above.
There is other optional software you might need for certain features. See the download page for links to download them. Joystick emulation requires PPJoy. Speech requires SAPI 5.1 with microsoft recogniser.
You don't need any special hardware.

Upon mentioning the name of Metal Slug, gamer ears perk up much like a dog that hears a school bus coming down the block. It's one of, if not the best, 2D side-scrolling shooters in existence. And upon releasing their anthology compilation on the Wii, many wondered how the title could take advantage of the Wii's specific features. According to the critics, the game doesn't really accomplish this, but the fun and replay value of the 7 titles within are enough to make up for it.
Nintendo Power (80/100) says it's a natural choice for fans of the old-school: "Fans of classic, side-scrolling, 2D action will love Metal Slug Anthology." [Jan. 2007, p.108]
Game Informer (75/100) points out the flaw in the control options: "The problem is that no matter which [control scheme] you select, you'll sacrifice functionality - either in maneuverability or how you lob grenades." [Jan 2007, p.107]
IGN (72/100) tasks us to not get our hopes up if expecting more than just the seven different games: "These are amazing games, and if you want to own them in any form, now's a good chance to do that. Just don't expect a grand fanfare when you boot the game up. It's basically seven titles for $40 bucks. No more, no less."

As expected now the Wii has been released and the DS is so strong, an article on buisness week discusses the future for the GBA and Gamecube:
The overarching message for Nintendo appears to be a relatively simple one this holiday season, as simple as they would claim the Wii Remote is to use—appealing to gamers, be they young, old, hardcore, non-traditional or lapsed. And while the $200 million for advertising the Wii turned out to be an erroneous number (that's apparently Nintendo's annual marketing budget), Nintendo is obviously trying hard to get the word out.
But that leaves one final question: what about Nintendo's older systems (GBA, GCN)? The GBA had a very solid November, with over 600k hardware units sold and if there was any time for a last push with the GCN, now would be it. Dolecki offered, "Our focus right now is on Wii and DS, but we have a huge installed base of Game Boy fans. Third-party publishers have tapped into that audience, and we have a library of nearly 950 games for GBA," she said, adding, "Nintendo GameCube owners can also experience The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. "

Remember a few years ago when the "All Your Base" phenomenon briefly transformed retro gaming into an ironic obsession that all the hipsters wanted a piece of? Well now a newer game seems to be getting the Internet flash overexposure treatment, and the hipsters are on standby.
The "Phoenix Wrong" phenomenon actually started in July, when Newgrounds member AshfordPride posted the first in a hilarious four-part series of Flash videos featuring Phoenix Wright characters performing widely known pop culture quotes (trust us, it's funnier than it sounds). The phenomenon has only really taken off in the past few months, with copycats making dozens of "Phoenix Wrong" tribute animations of varying quality. The lot of them have been collected on an "official" web site complete with comics, fanart and even a tutorial (PDF) on how to make your own.
Whether or not this fad continues to grow or goes the way of other passing memes is largely up to you, the internet. We trust you will choose wisely.

RSF has put up a new flash video, though it passed under my radar for some time (in fact, he's due for a new one). This one's shorter than many of his earlier works , such as Michael Fantasy and Sega Fantasy IV. Anyway, Super Mario Underworld is an epic battle between the Mario and Luigi (or something? maybe?) set in the Super Mario World universe. As usual, it's epic and awesome, though the song has lyrics this time, featuring someone who probably didn't get very good grades in English. It's apparently a psuedo-parody of this flash video, which appeared at flash★bomb '05, a japanese flash animation event. Looks like they didn't do it again in 2006, unfortunately.

From the depths of Nintendo's own Pokedex, we've managed to liberate two clips of Pokemon Battle Revolution, revealing Wii's first 'Mon game to be already in fighting form.
Out now in Japan, this isn't just the first console-based version since GameCube's Colosseum and XD, it is also the first time the beasts can be taken online. So why not click on the movies tab above to see the monsters in motion?
But if you don't know the full details of the game, it's a traditional trainer versus trainer affair, much like N64's Stadium. There is also the twist that not only can you use your DS's stock of beasts in battle but the handheld's touch-screen can also be used as a control system in combat. And while there isn't a story mode to worry about you can still develop your stable as you progress through the fights and even buy in extra items at the shop for use in both Revolution or DS's upcoming Diamond and Pearl.
Pokemon Battle Revolution is currently without a European or US release date but that neatly links us into a bit of connected Pokey news, for the US release date for Pokemon Diamond and Pearl on DS has been announced as 22 April. Which should interest us Brits because, not only has no date been set for the duo's European debut but - of course, like all games on DS - they are region free. So importers might like to warm up their credit cards right now, especially since early buyers will be able to snaffle a limited edition with a special stylus.

While Nintendo has added a steady stream of downloadable games to its Wii Virtual Console service every Monday since the system's November launch, the publisher has generally offered its legitimate classics with less renowned offerings. That won't be the case this coming Monday, as Nintendo is celebrating the Christmas holiday by releasing a quintet of high-profile retro games on the Virtual Console.
For its own part, Nintendo is releasing the original NES classic Super Mario Bros. for 500 Wii points ($5). Backing up the company's portly plumbers will be a pair of best sellers from the Super Nintendo era: Capcom's Street Fighter II: The World Warrior and Konami's Super Castlevania IV. Each of those games will sell for 800 Wii points ($8).
The final two games announced for release Christmas Day are pulled from non-Nintendo platforms. The Sega Genesis game ToeJam & Earl dances its funky way onto the Virtual Console, followed by the TurboGrafx-16 shoot-'em-up R-Type, both for 800 Wii points ($8). The R-Type price is notable since all previous TurboGrafx-16 games on the Virtual Console have sold for 600 Wii points ($6).
Finally, Nintendo also announced a pair of games that would be released for the Virtual Console the Monday after Christmas, New Year's Day. The publisher will start the new year by swinging for the fences with Baseball and fighting in the streets with Urban Champion. Both games debuted on the NES and will sell for 500 Wii points ($5).
Nintendo has said it will release new games for the Virtual Console service every Monday at 9 a.m. Pacific time.

The New York Times' 'How it Works' series touches on a remote with a twist: the Nintendo Wiimote. The article describes the micron-sized machines that make it work, displays cut-away graphics of the little white marvel, and rounds out the discussion with a breakdown of where the tech came from. From the article: "The controller's most-talked-about feature is the capacity to track its own relative motion. This enables players to do things like steer a car by twisting the remote in the air or moving a game character by tilting the remote down or up. 'This represents a fabulous example of the consumerization of MEMS,' the tiny devices known as micro-electro-mechanical systems, said Benedetto Vigna, general manager of the MEMS unit at STMicroelectronics, a leading maker of the accelerometers embedded in the controllers. (Nintendo itself declined to talk about the controllers' inner workings.) He said the motion sensors, using the technology that activates vehicle air bags, can accurately sense three axes of acceleration: up and down, left to right, and forward and backward."

The DS continues to dominate the Japanese all-formats charts, with 14 titles in the top twenty exclusive to the Nintendo handheld.
Only two Wii titles feature in the top ten, with the high-profile Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess dropping out of the top twenty all together.
Two Pokemon titles sit at the top of the charts, with Pokemon Diamond selling over 123,000 units and Pokemon Pearl another 97,000 copies, according to Media Create.
The top seven titles in the charts are all DS games, including Kirby Squeak Squad at number three and New Super Mario Bros. at number five.
At number eight is Wild Arms 4 for the PlayStation 2, while Wii Sports and Pokemon Battle Revolution are the only two games for Nintendo's new home console, at nine and ten, respectively.

'Twas a starry night of old that Nintendo did announce a European release date of 9th February for Magical Starsign. So, yesterday, in common speak.
It's an interstellar role-playing game for the DS, where players will be tasked with venturing to the ends of the Universe in search of a missing teacher and fellow students from the Will-o-Wisp magical academy.
Developer Brownie Brown is keen to utilise the the unique features of the DS, relying heavily on the stylus for player-input, whilst also offering Wi-Fi support for up to six players. Wirelessly you can enjoy the Amigo Dungeon where you can earn special rewards, or enter "Tag Mode," where you can grow unique "Egg" characters that hatch over time.
It seems we're largely in familiar RPG-mechanic territory here; your male or female protagonist will follow the story across the galaxy, battle monsters, level up and buy new gear.
The game's interesting twist comes from the "Magical Starsigns" themselves. Each character is linked to a particular planet by their Sign, which will determine the type of magic they use. The strengths and weaknesses of these will be dictated by the planets' positions in the solar system; becoming weaker when your planet is far away, and stronger as your Sign moves into prominence. However, monsters too will feel these effects, and the secret to mastering the game will be an ever-changing battle plan.
Fights themselves will work around a "Rank" system, which will allow two choices for attack. Using a wheel-menu and the DS stylus, players from the front rank will choose to assault individual characters either magically or physically, whilst players in the rear can attack multiple targets, but will be limited to magical offensives.
Hopefully all of this will make for a highly entertaining and tactical experience when the game launches across Europe on 9th February.

Uh oh. Our old friend Internet Rumours has been at it again, this time peddling the tempting fiction that Nintendo will be offering Super Mario Bros., Toe Jam & Earl and R-Types as free Virtual Console downloads on Christmas day.
Not so, says Nintendo UK, and that appears to be that.
What you can expect, of course, is some more for-money Virtual Console releases, with another selection due to go live on the Wii Shop tomorrow. Last week saw a host of additions, and if you're the sort of person who fancies a bit of retro-gaming with their mince pies, you might want to consult the list for further options.
Virtual Console's European launch titles included Super Mario 64, Donkey Kong Country and lots of old NES games, including the original Zelda. You can buy a Classic Controller to play with them, but it's also possible to use a GameCube pad, if you have one.

If you're one of those people who have whined about the position of the cord on the Classic Controller for the Wii and just can't stand having it dangle down, you can change that in approximately 5 minutes (assuming you have the correct tools).
The controller is completely functional, including the release clip for the Wiimote that is rumored to be released sometime in the future.
Here's what you're going to need for this quick project:
- Wii Classic Controller
- Dremel with cutting disc (or some attachment that'll allow you to make a cut in a small area)
- Triwing screwdriver (to open it up)
- (OPTIONAL) A lid or some small container to hold the 5 screws (so they don't go missing)
