Many Wii gamers trying to get online via Wi-Fi have been thwarted by some 5-digit errors (51330, 52130). What's funny is that often the Wii system updates will download fine, but try connecting a minute later to accept the User Agreements for Wii Shop and you'll be denied. Here are some tactics that may help you solve the problem:
Make sure your router is on the list of supported hardware
Update your router to the latest firmware
Reboot your router
Switch your router to broadcast on channel 1 or 11
Adjust your router settings to allow both 802.11g and 802.11b, if supported
Avoid using microwave ovens, cordless phones and other 2.4GHz devices while connecting
Move your router closer to your Wii or use a repeater to extend its range
Change the MTU setting to 1400
Manually configure your router with your Wii's MAC address
Assign a manual IP address, DNS servers, etc.
Spend $35-45 on a Wi-Fi USB Connector for your Windows XP PC (sorry, no Mac version yet)
Wait for the Wii LAN Adapter (due in January)

Elebits, the launch title (before Metroid Prime 3 was pushed back) this blogger wants the most, has finally released and we can now go hunting for those tiny little critters, tearing apart kitchens and gardens as we do so. We're quite sure, based on our time with the title at E3 and what has been shown since, that we're going to love it, but what about the rest of the game reviewing world? What do the critics think of the game?
Game Informer - 70%: "The tactile sensation of pointing at a popcorn cart and flinging it into the stratosphere is interesting and fun, but simple movement and navigation will occasinally be a needlessly frustrating obstacle." [Jan 2007, p.106]
IGN - 83%: "If you're looking for a visual stunner, Elebits is not for you. But if you just want a really fun outing that's every bit as original as it is engaging, I think Elebits is your game. This title is destined for sleeper status."
Gamebrink - 89%: "A solid title that uses the Wiimote and Nunchuk controls extremely well. If you're not in it for the offline 4 player multiplayer, which isnt all that great, or the level building then this is probably a rental. Though, if you want to get perfect rankings on all the levels youll likely want to make it a purchase."

What do you get when you take a TiVo, a Super Nintendo, and two drunks? A Super NinTiVo. These guys took a working TiVo unit and shoved it inside the body of a Super Nintendo. Hence, Super NinTiVo. Everything works afterwards, even down to the IR receiver—which they had to order another of because they broke the first.
The only downside is that..
the hard drive doesn't actually fit in the unit, so it just sits bare-assed on the outside.

New from SuccessHK

Kirby's back and ready for a bellyful of adventure, in Kirby Squeek Squad. When someone steals some strawberry shortcake, the pink powerhouse sets out after them, learning new skills. All the classic floating, jumping and battling of a classic Kirby game are here, but with a massive boost. You'll mix and match abilities that Kirby copies, by using the stylus to drag them together inside Kirby's belly (located on the touch screen). The powers themselves now have the ability to affect the environment, as well as foes. Burn trees and grasses with the Fire ability, freeze water with the Ice ability. In sub-game mode, this game also features multiplayer fun for up to four players, using either Multi-Card or DS Download Play over DS Local Area Network.

Heres the latest weekly special from Play Asia:

Get ready for an original game experience as players tilt Yoshi through topsy-turvy worlds brimming with adventure.
When Bowser starts wreaking havoc on Yoshi’s Island, a book spirit named Hongo traps the entire island within the pages of a storybook. Only by locking Bowser away can Yoshi convince Hongo to release the rest of the island, so he sets out to progress through the chapters of the book...
Each course is controlled by a spirit. One loves money, one who loves fast things, one who loves friendliness, one loves strength, etc. They will set out guidelines for the course, such as collecting fruit to free a certain number of Egglings, finshing a course before time runs out, finding a certain number of coins or destroying -- or, in a particularly clever twist, not destroying -- a certain number of enemies. By satisfying that spirit’s requirements, players pass the course.
Yoshim, being Yoshi, can jump and stick out his tongue to eat fruit or enemies, but the main feature of the game is the tilt mechanism. By moving the Game Boy Advance SP side to side, players tilt the world around Yoshi, causing enemies to roll around, swinging ships and pendulums and bouncing items all over the place. An impassable wall will become a climbable slope, or a rolled-up carpet will become a long platform. Each environment requires players to master not only button presses but also tilt movements to progress.

Nintendo's Yoshi's Universal Gravitation (aka. Yoshi Topsy-Turvy) for Gameboy Advance™ is now available at unbeatable US$ 9.90 only.
Game features:
By tilting the Game Boy Advance SP, players will turn the environment around Yoshi to knock over enemies, swing pendulums, and help Yoshi run up walls and leap huge pits.
All of Yoshi’s Island is trapped in a storybook, and only by meeting the challenges of each chapter will players succeed. Collect coins, defeat enemies or race for the finish to satisfy each course’s conditions.
As usually, this weekly special is valid for exactly 1 week (if not sold out earlier) and this time limited to a maximum purchase of 1 unit per customer. As a small restriction, please also notice that you cannot use any further discount coupons along with this special offer.

Some people just don't get along with wires. I'm not fussed, they've never done anything to me personally, but I've also seen men boil over with rage just looking at a phone line.
So I can understand why stuff like this has not only been sorted out, but engineered and shifted to retail in under a month. It's a wireless Wii sensor bar, which will do everything your regular sensor bar does, only more conspicuously and at the cost of batteries.
For $25, you can probably do without one. Then again, some people have gaming rigs that look like an Escher painting, and this will come as welcome relief

Your Wii-made Mii persona will be used as your playable character in the Wii version of Animal Crossing, and any accessories or clothing collected in-game will be available for your Mii to wear in other Nintendo Wii titles, according to US games magazine, Electronic Gaming Monthly.
These hints were dropped in EGM's most recent rumour column, although Nintendo's eagerness to use Mii characters in other Wii games - Wii Sports, The Sims Wii, WarioWare Smooth Moves - suggests that there may be a shred of truth to the speculation.
But we're not convinced it'd be a wise move. Animal Crossing's charming and beautifully cartoonified visual style is one of the series' strongest assets. If Animal Crossing on Wii shares the same, much less attractive style as The Sims Wii, we're sure there'll be hordes of 'Crossing fans lining up to give Nintendo a piece of their minds. And we'll be right at the front of the crowd.
The ability to transfer your bits and bobs - perhaps enabled by a firmware update - is a nice touch. But please, if you're listening Nintendo, don't compromise Animal Crossing's fantastic visuals by turning it into just another Mii vehicle.

Sega will release a brand new version of its classic space shooter, Alien Syndrome, for Nintendo Wii and PlayStation Portable in Summer next year, the developer-cum-publisher has revealed today.
As Earth Command Trooper Aileen Harding - or just Aileen to her friends, natch - Alien Syndrome hurls you into a action-orientated, RPG-lite universe of derelict spaceships and weird alien worlds, with a host of weaponry and upgrades scattered liberally around to assist you in your quest to blast and bash a hostile horde of alien beasties.
Alien Syndrome on Wii uses the motion-sensing controllers for combat in a similar way as Zelda - you'll be wafting the Wii-mote to hack up aliens, for example - as well as tinkering with items and hacking into computers. While PSP will feature Wi-Fi co-op multiplayer for up to four space cadets to pummel their way through the extraterrestrial resistance in several different modes.
Alien Syndrome was a classic late 80's space shooter that spawned across more than 10 formats, including Game Gear, Master System, and NES, as well as hitting PS2 in Japan as Vol. 14 of Sega's Ages 2500 series. And, no, it has nothing whatsoever to do with the recent announcement that Sega will be making games inspired by the Alien film franchise. So no confusion there then...

Dragon Quest IX will be a Nintendo DS title, and is due out sometime in 2007, Square Enix has announced in Japan.
Given the series' massive popularity over there, the company's decision to make the next epic instalment for the diminutive Nintendo handheld is likely to cause a stir. For example, this paragraph, which wouldn't be here otherwise.
Developed by Level-5, who did the last PlayStation 2 title, Dragon Quest VIII, and are also working on PlayStation 3's White Knight Story, the ninth DQ RPG is subtitled "Hoshizora no Mamoribito", which is translated as something like "Defender of the Starry Skies" according to 1UP.
It will be done in 3D, with action-oriented battles and network options that will see up to four players teaming up. Series creator Yuji Horii has reportedly spoken of his desire to make a game that's "a true part of the series" and not simply a spin-off in the vein of other Nintendo DS RPGs based on renowned home-console series.
The game's said to be quite a way along, with a playable demo shown off at the game's unveiling in Japan, while Famitsu has a pair of screenshots demonstrating bright, handsome 3D RPG visuals more akin to the game's recent traditions than the top-down battling typically associated with the two-screen handheld.
Square-Enix's event in Japan also saw the unveiling of card-battler Dragon Quest: Monster Battle Road, according to reports.

News from eurogamer
Reports from magical lands off beyond the seas suggest that Nintendo has quietly upgraded the flimsy Wii remote strap without telling anyone.
Photographs have emerged comparing the cord that attaches the wrist-strap to the base of the Wii-mote sold in the US/Japan with one sold in the Australian market - with the latter noticeably thicker.
Nintendo UK declined to comment on the photograph. "We are evaluating the wrist strap to determine how to minimise the risk of breakage when a player lets go of their controller during enthusiastic gameplay," a spokesperson told us. TRY SWAPPING IT FOR A FAT ONE.
As for Europe, it's anecdotal, but neither of my Wii remotes has the thicker strap, despite my being a fat-handed dork prone losing his grip who could've done with one.
