This is yet another awesome bit of home-made gaming memorabilia from Mrs. Mason, yet it's sadly wasted on a baby who can't possibly appreciate the fine craftsmanship.
I want it so I can drape it over my knees, old-people style, while playing the Wii. It'll keep my knees warm. And remind me of my long-forgotten youth.

Kotaku reports the news that problems with breaking Wiimote straps has resulted in a class action lawsuit against Nintendo. From the press release about the suit:
"Green Welling LLP filed a nationwide class action lawsuit on behalf of the owners of the Nintendo Wii against Nintendo of America, Inc., in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington. The class action lawsuit arose as result of the defective nature of the Nintendo Wii. In particular, the Nintendo Wii game console includes a remote and a wrist strap for the remote. Owners of the Nintendo Wii reported that when they used the Nintendo remote and wrist strap, as instructed by the material that accompanied the Wii console, the wrist strap broke and caused the remote to leave the user's hand. Nintendo's failure to include a remote that is free from defects is in breach of Nintendo's own product warranty."

The American version of Nintendo Wii's Virtual Console receives its weekly thrust of new content today with the addition of another three games.
However this week's offerings, it has to be said, probably won't be setting anyone's world on fire. Unless Space Harrier II somehow transubstantiates into a giant flying death nightmare in your room and gets the hump with you.
Because it's one, at 800 Wii points, and is joined by former NES title "Tennis" (500 points) and another from Hudson's range of TurboGrafx-16 titles, Military Madness (800 points). Which may in fact also set people's worlds on fire. I don't really understand games made before 2004.
As for what's going on in the UK, let us refer you back to the published list of Christmas releases, which informs us that this Friday's local offerings will include all three of the above, along with Toe Jam & Earl (Megadrive) and Donkey Kong Jr. (NES).

JoyTech's no stranger to the Wii accessory scene, and the firm is hitting us up once more with its Wii PowerStation. As the title implies, this docking unit can safely house two Hattori Hanzo swords potentially dangerous Wiimotes, and comes stocked with twin rechargeable battery packs to save you those late night trips to the battery department. Additionally, there's a pull-out cradle on each side to place your nunchuck, and while there's nothing to prove (or disprove) the theory, it looks as if the charging station can receive power from any USB port. So if the days on end of Wii Sportin' it are chewing through the Engergizers at an unacceptable rate, you can pick this up in late January for £19.97 ($39).

Reliable sources close to Nintendo have told CVG that Super Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption on Wii, and Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass on DS will not see light of day until Christmas 2007, which could mean anything from October to December.
CVG called Nintendo about the delays, and was told us: "We never confirmed a date for Super Mario Galaxy, but I can confirm that Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3 and Phantom Hourglass will all release in 2007. We can't confirm an exact release date for any of these titles at this time."
This is disappointing news for Nintendo fans, but it's not all bad. The Q1 2007 release lists for the DS and Wii boast some great titles.
We just hope that Nintendo can get enough titles out to keep Wii Remotes and touch screens busy over the typically quiet summer period.

EA will bring the first Medal of Honor game to the Wii in March 2007 in the form of Medal of Honor Vanguard.
Also releasing on the PS2, MoH Vanguard will give you control of a corporal in more WWII-themed battles, including Nazi face-offs in Sicily and Germany.
We think it's safe to assume that the Wii version will control in a similar way to Red Steel and Call of Duty 3, but it'll be interesting to see how well EA's programming boffins deal with the new control system.
Can it knock CoD 3 off the Wii FPS throne? Look out for gameplay specifics and first screens in the New Year.

It's a sad moment in the CVG office this morning, as the promised Wii Forecast Channel activates around the world, eliminating the need for us to ogle at visually-pleasing GMTV weather girls every morning with our toast.
The Forecast Channel - in case you haven't jumped to conclusions yet - allows you to check the weather on your Wii by spinning a big 3D globe. You can even check the weather in parts of the world outside blighty, and get a heads up of that ruddy great storm that's currently tearing up west coast USA.
To get the new channel on your Wii, simply choose 'update' on your empty Forecast Channel menu screen.

On Dec. 22, Nintendo and Opera Software bring the Internet to the living room couch with a free trial version of the Opera Web browser. Wii owners with a high-speed Internet connection can download a free trial Opera browser to activate the Internet Channel of the Wii Menu and begin surfing the Web.
“In addition to providing innovative and exciting new ways to play, Wii also offers further services and entertainment for all the family. This newest Wii Menu Channel is just the latest example of how we are doing this” says Nintendo of Europe Marketing Director, Laurent Fischer. “Wii is the perfect console for everyone to enjoy and this is being reflected in the phenomenal sales across Europe. ”
“Our software brings the power and reach of the Internet to the hottest video game system available,” says Scott Hedrick, Executive Vice President, Devices at Opera Software. “Wii’s unique interface adds a new dimension to our browser, making it a useful tool that the whole family will enjoy operating with ease.”
The final version of the Opera browser will be available at the end of March 2007, and will be free for all Wii owners to download through the end of June. After June 2007, the browser will be available for download in the Wii Shop Channel for 500 Wii Points.
The Internet Channel joins the four channels which have been available since launch: Disc Channel, Photo Channel, Mii™ Channel and Wii Shop Channel as well as the newly available Forecast Channel.
