Got a Wii? Got A Christmas tree with lights? Got them next to each other?
Yeah, you might want to move them, if you haven't wised up and done so already.
The blinking and flickering of Christmas tree lights plays havoc with the Wii Remote and sensor bar, causing all kinds of problems. BBPS has a few reports up, and I've seen it personally at a mate's place as well; the cursor jumps all over the place and your connection keeps dropping out, and occasionally the Wii won't detect the Remote at all.
While this is an annoyance to anyone with a small apartment who can't move their tree and/or Wii, for others this should be an opportunity. A gold star to the first person who can rig up their Christmas tree's light sequencing so it can kick someboy's ass at Wii Tennis.

The Wii has been cracked open, its entrails spilled, its blood consumed and its organs dissected, categorised and sold off to the highest bidder. The market value for each is as follows:
Graphics chip: $29.60
CPU: $13.00
DRAM: $7.80
Optical disk drive: $31.00
Power supply: $11.30
Manufacturing cost: $19.50
Cost total: $158.30
Wholesale price: $195.99
If these guys have done their sums right, Nintendo are making just under $40 profit on every Wii sold. At such an early stage of the consoles development, and with sales so healthy, that's good news for anyone at Nintendo that's involved in the counting, or spending, of money.

Ladies and gentlemen, you might want to sit down; flagship Xbox 360 RPG Blue Dragon has outsold the recently released Zelda: Twilight Princess - and all other Wii software - in Japan.
The latest Media Create Japanese chart puts the Mistwalker RPG at number four in the top selling titles in Japan for December 4 through 10, which has managed to shift a respectable 80,000 copies in the country giving it the number two all-time 360 sales record behind Dead or Alive 4.
Blue Dragon has received a considerable level of hype in Japan, largely thanks to the fanbase surrounding Dragon Ball Z artist Akira Toriyama who designed the characters in the game, and a special edition Japanese Blue Dragon 360 bundle which some Japanese retailers reported to have sold out of within minutes of opening pre-orders.
Meanwhile Nintendo's latest Zelda has shockingly dwindled all the way to number 17 in Japan, only a week after it was bested by mini-game titles Wii Sports and Wii Play during the Far Eastern console launch. You could speculate that perhaps quantaties of the game - and especially the Wii hardware - have become near-impossible to secure in Japan, but we'll have to wait and see how the numbers perk up in the following weeks.
So could this be a turning point for Microsoft's console in the Far East? We'll let you know how far it is up the top ten next week.

Data trackers NPD have published new figures for videogame accessory sales in the US, revealing that Nintendo sold 270,000 Wii remote controllers during the month of November.
In the same period, 153,000 nunchuk peripherals were also sold, while consumers snapped up 476,000 Wii consoles.
Nintendo's handheld is also continuing to prove a hit - the third most popular accessory for the month was the NDS Lite Starter Kit, racking up sales of 154,000.
Microsoft's HD-DVD add-on for Xbox 360 hit the shops on November 7, and 42,000 units were sold over the course of the month. The second best performing accessory overall was the Xbox 360 wireless controller, with 251,000 units sold, while 84,000 consumers bought the 360 Play and Charge kit.
The Sixaxis controller for Sony's PlayStation 3 fared less well, shifting 98,000 units. However, 152,000 of Sony's PS2 Memory Cards were sold, and Nyko also shifted 100,000 units of its third-party version. Gamers also bought 186,000 Dualshock controllers for PS2.

We were hoping Wario Ware: Smooth Moves would reach our shores before Christmas but with only 11 days to go, that appeared unlikely anyway. But an early January release date isn't too bad.
We've already finished an English version of the game and can confirm that it's absolutely brilliant, so when it does arrive we suggest you go mental for it. Check back for the full review just after Christmas.
Nintendo has also confirmed Excite Truck's European release date, set for February 16.

Mercury Meltdown Revolution will be right at home on Wii, being a game all about tilting platforms to guide a blob of mercury to the goal.
Players will tilt the Wii Remote to get their mercury through the 150 fiendishly tough levels in the Wii version, which will also undergo graphical enhancements.
Mercury Meltdown is a fantastic and dangerously addictive game on PSP, and being as the game was originally designed for a tilt controller for PSP that was unfortunately canned, we'll finally get to play the game as it was always intended on Wii.

Not uncommon for the company, Sony has once again talked down the competition this morning, calling Nintendo's Wii a "novelty".
The comments come from SCEA's senior director of corporate communications Dave Karraker, who in an interview with the Wall Street Journal said "We feel very confident that the PlayStation fan is going to wait until they can get a PlayStation 3. If they do pick up a Wii, it's as more of a novelty."
Of course back at this year's E3 show (RIP) in May, Sony was praising Nintendo for its console's bold new direction, but we're sure the phenomenal European launch numbers has forced the company to change its tune.
The PlayStation 3 is officially penned for launch in Europe in March 2007.

If nobody offered you a WII as a gift yet, don’t despair! You can get instead a WII wrist-strap and whistle for your phone or keys. When blowing the whistle, it will emit a nice WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII

The employees at the big box stores have really clammed up about the 17th, but it's the world's worst kept secret. A BB employee showed me the Wii's on order for all the local stores (DC Metro) and it looks like they all had an order for 18-24 units in the system. Add this to the 50 (or possibly 40) units that all BB stores will receive on the 16th and the total is going to be a minimum of 58 (18+40) to (24+50) 74 units per store. Plus whatever else they're squirreled away. I know they *were* expecting more on the order of 80 units/store to come in on the 16th, but I have no idea if Nintendo is going to be able to deliver. Here's the supposed word to hold until the 17th for BB

More than 32,000 units sold in four days
First it was announced that the Nintendo Wii had become the fastest-selling home console in the UK, then Europe - and now it's breaking records in Australia, too.
GfK Australia has published new figures showing that 32,901 Wii units were sold in the four days following the console's launch on December 7. During launch week, the Wii made up 43 per cent of all videogame hardware sales in the territory.
That means it sold faster than any other home or handheld console, edging past the Xbox 360 - which shifted 30,241 units during its opening weekend - and the PSP, next in line with a figure of 27,055 units.
The software attach rate for Wii stood at 1.5 units per console - so towards the lower end of the scale, GfK conceded. But, the company observed, Nintendo's machine does come bundled with the Wii Sports game, which wasn't accounted for when calculating the attach rate.
Earlier this week, Microsoft published Xbox 360 sales figures for the same period, with regional director David McLean stating that the launch of the Wii had not had a negative impact.

With most shops clearing out there Gamecube stocks, it seems to be getting harder to find games, especially new games, and not pre-owned.
Retowarez still have many new Gamecube games left, and are selling at clearance prices, like Simpsons Hit And Run: for £9.99. I have used them personaly, and found them to be very good, and helpfull.
