Tassu has posted another DS Homebrew game today, heres the info:
This is a really fun 3D multiplayer action game. There's no single player game, only two players on one DS. The point in the game is to hit the opponent and then run away before he/she hits you back. I'm sure everyone knows what a game of tag is all about.
Player one moves around with the D-pad and player two moves with A, B, X and Y. Double cklicking makes the tagged character charge forward. Both players have 120 seconds time. When youre tagged, the clock starts counting down and the player who runs out of time first loses.

DSLua has returned with a new group! Sypherce, Daltonlaffs, and I (Jeremysr) wil be developing DSLua from now on. And right now we are releasing DSLua 0.6!
The new features are a wifi function library, auto-starting a script (behaves like an actual DS homebrew program), new system and stylus functions, and a microphone library.
It has also been compiled with much newer versions of PAlib and devkitPro, and as a result lua programs run much faster now.
DSLua still comes in CF and GBFS flavours. But now the CF version uses LibFATDragon and comes with grey, green, and blue versions, like DSorganize. This makes it compatible with lots of homebrew devices.
We also wrote a documentation. It comes with DSLua 0.6 but there is a link to an online version on the menu to your left.

The first glitch for Wii Sports: Tennis has come in and, when diving for an unplayable ball far to the outside of the court, the opponent Mii became stuck in the crowd and resulted in a two-on-one match up. We didn't get footage of the shot leading up to the glitch, but thankfully the fine fellow responsible for the glitch thought to grab the camera for the rest of the match.

With an impressive degree of promptness, Nintendo made good on its promise of regular Virtual Console updates for its Wii console, every Friday in Europe. Arriving practically bang on the stroke of midnight this morning, the first batch of releases unleashed since the Wii's launch last Friday offer some formidable old-skool classics, including the superb Gunstar Heroes, Ristar and Alien Crash.
Today's eight-strong line-up is as follows: Urban Champion (a Euro-exclusive right now, even if it's not particularly good), Solomon's Key and Pinball for the NES, Columns, Gunstar Heroes, Ristar and Dr. Robotonik's Mean Bean Machine from the Mega Drive's illustrious past and, rounding things off, Alien Crush on Turbografx. If you're in need of some purchasing guidance, follow the links for some considered opinion, courtesy of our US brethren.
In the spirit of completeness then, cast your eyes below for that full roster and any extraneous details that seemed like a good idea at the time. Like say, how many Wii beans you'll need to plant for those magical time trees to reach fruition.
Virtual Console European Releases, Friday 15

Pinball (1986)
Solomon's Key (1990)
Urban Champion (1986)

MEGA DRIVE - 800 Wii Points

Nintendo's UK boss David Yarnton has topped off a record-breaking first week for Wii by promising "regular and multiple" stock top-ups of the console for retail in December.
Despite having sold 105,000 Wiis in the UK and 325,000 sold across Europe in its debut weekend, Yarnton told MCV that Nintendo’s work on Wii isn’t over yet.
“We’re still committed to shipping four million units globally by the end of 2006,” said the ebullient Aussie. “We are continuing to work with our customers to make regular and multiple shipments across the UK in the coming days and weeks in order to manage the unprecedented demand for the biggest global launch of a console the industry has seen in the last decade.
“This is just the start and we still have a lot of work to do to build on the launch success.”
Yarnton went on to highlight the Wii debut as an important landmark for a console’s launch.
“Breaking the UK record for a home console launch is obviously pleasing for us but also highlights what great shape the industry is in for us to be able to reach such a massive number.”
And the retail response has been fantastic, added Yarnton: “The retailers I have spoken to are over the moon not just with Wii but with DS too, many commenting it has been their biggest launch and biggest weekends ever.
“They have commented how the launch has helped their business in what has been a tough time.”

After giving Zelda:TP on the Wii an 8.8, Gamespot goes and gives the GameCube version an 8.9. The sound category is the one that got an extra point, but they seem to give the edge to the Wii version in the GC review despite the lower score in the end.
From the review:
Graphically, the GameCube version is roughly identical to the Wii release. The main difference comes from a lack of 16:9 widescreen support, resulting in many of the story sequences being letterboxed when viewed in 4:3.
Ok so the Wii version supports widescreen and the GC version does not - score one for the Wii.
The combat controls are more conventional on the GameCube, since you won’t be shaking the controller around to attack (though if you’ve already played the Wii version, expect to feel dumb when you start to shake your WaveBird and wonder why nothing’s happening), but the Wii controls actually end up feeling more precise in a direct comparison. It’s easier and faster to aim your arrows, boomerang, or other targeted items using the Wii Remote. It’s easier to move the camera around with the Wii Remote, too. While the GameCube controller is more precise when it comes to swinging your sword, the easier aiming and spin attack make the Wii version’s combat controls superior, even though they have a few issues of their own.
And the Wii version has better controls overall due to ease of aiming and..
On the Wii, you execute a spin attack by shaking the Nunchuk controller attachment. After you perform the move, there’s a downtime when you can’t spin, and the Wii speaker makes a noise to let you know when it’s available again. The GameCube version works the opposite way. Instead of being immediately available, you have to charge up the spin attack by holding down B. This is how it’s been done in previous Zelda games, so it’s not a huge deal, but having the spin attack available at a moment’s notice makes it a significantly more useful maneuver on the Wii.
The spin attack is more useful in combat on the Wii. Strange that they scored the Wii version lower than the GC version even if by .1. Honestly, I think the game deserves over a 9 easily, more around a 9.6. Especially if they are handing out 9.0’s to tripe like Perfect Dark Zero.

The Associated Press, it seems, has backed away from calling Nintendo's product replacement plan for the Wii Remote Strap a recall.
Instead of just changing the headline we used, I decided to do a little fact checking. By law, any consumer safety issues that crop up in the U.S. has to be reported to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
Hopping onto their site I found at the top a listing for the replacement program, something they call a "corrective action," according to a quick call to the commission.
According to the commission only about 2 million of the straps were affected. The report says that Nintendo has received reports of cords on wrist straps breaking, including "three reports of minor injuries not requiring medical attention." All of the incidents, according to the commission, occurred while gamers were playing Wii Sports.
The commission goes on to say that all Wii systems purchased after Dec. 11 should have the new 1.0 mm cord, while systems purchased before then have the .6mm cords. All remotes purchased separately before Dec. 18 have the old cords, according to the report.
Nintendo sent along this official statement about the "corrective action."
Nintendo has a long tradition of delivering high-quality products and excellent customer service. The Wii Remote is meant to be gripped, and the wrist straps are a secondary measure. We have found that some consumers get more excited playing Wii Sports than we could have imagined. This resulted in a very small number of wrist straps breaking. We have replaced the broken wrist straps and continue to reinforce with consumers the safe and fun use of our products. Through its voluntary wrist strap replacement program, Nintendo is offering a stronger wrist strap free of charge to consumers by calling 800-859-4519 or by visiting support.nintendo.com.

Seiken Densetsu: Heroes of Mana will be the next big chapter in the popular action RPG series after Seiken Densetsu 4, though this time it's taking the form of an S-RPG with 'real-time strategy battles.' Like Children of Mana, it'll be a Nintendo DS game, but Brownie Brown is developing the project this time and they want to give the stylus some proper use, it seems.
The site has been up for a few weeks now, but a system section with screens was added today. It's a nice-looking (and sounding) website indeed, with artwork-based wallpapers to download. This is also the week where Square-Enix has unveilled/shown some important projects for Nintendo's dual-screened handheld, namely Level 5's Dragon Quest IX, Final Fantasy - Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates, Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings and Final Fantasy Tactics A2 ~Fuuketsu no Grimoire~. 'Tiny' future, we're afraid.

Wii isn't a health hazard, it's people getting carried away. Following this morning's announcement that Nintendo will supply new Wii Remote wrist straps to anyone with concerned about the safety of their straps (or HDTVs), CVG was quicly contacted by radio station London LBC to comment on the 'recall'.
Turns out it wasn't a recall at all but wait until the mainstream press cottons on to all those pictures on the internet of teary-eyed 10-year-olds with black eyes and smashed TV screens - they'll have a field day.
It's a shame that Wii is being penalised for the excessive actions of an over-excited and clumsy few that have somehow managed to launch the Remote into the air while playing Wii Sports.
But it's not the Wii's fault. Nintendo top man, Satoru Iwata, addressed the situation when the console first launched in America, saying: "Before the launch of the Wii hardware Nintendo had a number of tests on the durability of everything including the strap, but our understanding right now is that even beyond our expectations people are becoming more and more excited playing Wii."
Some of readers clearly agree, as Mr-A-Hulse, pondered :"How over-excited do you have to be to chuck your Wii-mote with enough force to break free of your grip and still have the momentum to sever the strap and then smash the glass on your TV?"
Fellow CVG reader Wayneo1, stated: "Surely you need to be a Grade-A tw*t to throw your wii-mote at the TV." Or maybe just a slightly clumsy child, as I unfortunately found out my 11-year-old sister managed to throw the Remote at the ceiling during an over-energetic game of Wii Sports Bowling.
My uncle also achieved smashing his pet cat in the face playing the same game. The poor thing took a full-force bowl straight to the jaw. Ouch.
If this is the damage people can accomplish now, we dread to think what will happen during Christmas, after mum and dad have had a few glasses of wine and demand a go on Wii Sports. Carnage...
But it doesn't have to be that way, as Shigeru Miyamoto has already stressed: "We are encouraging people to understand that you really don't have to be so excited but rather you need to understand the control and then you're going to be the best player."
He's absolutely right - you don't need to play Wii Sports like you're Roger Federer. Controlled arm movements, or even gentle flicks of the wrist work just as well.
Here at CVG, as well as over a million other Wii owners, we've played Wii for many hours and never once sent the Remote bulleting across the room or clouted anyone in the face. Some people clearly just need to calm down.
Enjoy the Wii this Christmas but remember you don't have to launch yourself across the room during Wii Tennis. That way you won't wreck your house or kill a pet.

Upon looking for a Wii at a regional Toys-R-Us store (which has been a constant effort), we happened by a very friendly, very chatty undisclosed manager. After talking to him a bit, the manager revealed a few things in light of the Wii consumer frenzy. He would go on to state that if they [the customers] would "just listen," they could get a "better system" in a few months.
A "better system?" As he would soon explain, Nintendo will be "relaunching" the Wii console sometime before or at the beginning of Spring 2007. The launch, which is said to see many different colors for the Wii system (as seen at E3), will also be accompanied by a hefty price drop from $250 to $200. For those that believe such a drop would be too radical, keep in mind Miyamoto's own statements that the original plan was to develop a system under $100. Also note that it is undetermined if the "better system" statement includes technical upgrades to the Wii, as recent rumors have suggested.
Currently, this is just word of mouth as it has yet to be confirmed by Nintendo, and no one should realistically expect any sort of confirmation until after the Holiday season (which was said to be the reason behind the original $250 tag). Though it does indeed deserve further investigation, especially considering we have yet to see the black, red and green Wiis shown off at E3, making the absence of color diversity very conspicuous during the Holidays; begging one to ask: "Why else would Nintendo hold them back?"
Many have speculated how well the Wii would do post-Holiday launch, and the idea of relaunching the system with more colors and an even cheaper price tag sounds like Nintendo's game. Coincidentally, this also coincides with Nintendo's already confirmed plan to kick-start WiiConnect24, the Wii's online service, with the release of several multi-player online games around Spring. Also coincidental (this one perhaps more unintentional), is the fact that the Halo 3 public beta test will also start around the same time.
We're not exactly chalking this one up as farce, but we've definitely called the rumor patrol in. These are still unsubstantiated claims by a source that is only human, thus not immune to misinterpretation and bad information... and even greed amidst the Holiday rush. Though as if it had to be said, the prospect of a $200 Wii and expanded color selection would be more cause for celebration among Nintendo fans.
Nintendo was unable to be reached for comment by press time.
Update: Wii Dissected; $158 Unit Cost - As it has been pointed out in light of recent discoveries, Nintendo could theoretically drop the price of the Wii to $200 and unbundle Wii Sports to make a profit margin for each unit that is relatively the same, albeit with more units sold, leading to the possibility of more games and accessories purchased. An interesting thought, for sure. But merely a thought.

Having to enter separate friend codes for each and every online game on DS is a pain in the ass, but it was assumed this wouldn't be a problem on Wii, with a friend code tied to each console. Now it seems we could be wrong...
A preview of Pokémon Battle Revolution - the Wii's first online game - on IGN reveals that the game has its own separate code system, and new numbers must be traded and registered to play against friends.
Granted, this could just be an early version of the game with a placeholder code system. Maybe this is an isolated case, and other games will simply use the console's friends list, as we expected. Or maybe we're clutching at straws, hoping desperately that we won't have to go through the same 12-digit-code-entering hell we go through on DS.
Nintendo wasn't available for comment at time of writing. More soon.

A faulty batch of DS Lite chargers in Japan have been recalled by Nintendo after an overheating issue has raised safety concerns.
A statement on Nintendo's Japanese site identifies the batch of power cables affected, and calls for them all to be returned, with a replacement sent to everyone affected.
No serious malfunctions or incidents have been reported, so we assume this is simply a precaution taken by Nintendo. It has been confirmed that these issues do not affect European and US territories.
